Felt nostalgic to the bones
Left me with a sense of fulfillment. When I Fly Towards You is by far the second most peaceful drama (the first being Hidden Love). ZaiZai is the cutest and the most beautiful character ever. Even when she's head over heels for a boy, she always stood her ground, boldly confronted the bullies and worked hard to develop a sense of individuality and independence within. Zhang Lurang.... damn that guy is one charming man. Quiet and aloof yet has a sense of responsibility and loyal to death. The way he was persistent on resolving every misunderstanding that came his way regarding his love life, it was a green flag right there! Every problems were resolved quickly within one episode and it wasn't dragged on much. ZaiZai's best friend Jiang Jia was the best depiction of how a friend is supposed to be. All in all, I loved the drama and it deserves the 9 rating through and through. Was this review helpful to you?
Let me introduce you to the best youth drama I have ever watched...
Now I am not one at all to rate dramas 10 stars I am so strict especially when it comes to casting and soundtracks. This drama has managed to enter my heart as one of the best pieces of media I've ever digested. Where to start...A nostalgic trip? The aesthetic of the show is pleasing, especially the incorporation of these old video camera diary entries which gives it more of this personal rustic feel. If anyone is a sucker for charming media this one is definitely something you should study ;)
I think everyone's main fear for female main characters is their cringe acting. Su zaizai has this amazing ability to be this cute character while also being strong? She's a teenage girl of cause who is scared of the most silliest things but she's also incredibly smart. I think this mix is what makes her so likeable. Some one said she was "stupid, cringe and needs help" which I completely disagree with. In fact, she's a perfect lead for a show. Her character's contrast with the problems she overcomes and the security she has with Lurang are something only other female leads could wish for.
Although this story hasn't got much plot due to it being a youth drama it works so well with telling the story. The way that each episode is made perfectly encapsulates what they're trying to portray. They balance the stories between all the characters so well, which gives the show a nice flow helping audiences relax and take in what they're watching.
I actually love how their remind the audience that these characters are teenagers. They're just kids who are maturing and make stupid decisions. When these characters believe silly myths, it really reinforces that message and its nice to see. Especially because modern media is full of adults (including this cast) portraying teens. The story encapsulates the minds of these teenagers and shows them in their most original form- warts and all.
I think the side stories are probably the most striking stories- especially Guran's and Guan Fang's. They're these two teenage boys who have to deal with problems that force them to grow up faster. They hide these sides from their friends and their characters slowly develop into being vulnerable and sharing their insecurities with their friends.
When I say the casting has to be some of the best I've seen in this industry I'm not joking. To begin with our two main characters portrayed by Zhou Yiran and Zhang Miaoyi. They did such a beautiful job. Miaoyi's version of su zaizai was amazing to experience. Like i mentioned before, she was able to show us this girl who otherwise would be seen as annoying and "cringe" but for some reason i was infatuated with her. She makes you want to root for her from the first moment you meet her and the way she blends perfectly with Yiran's Lurang- their chemistry is otherworldly.
The rest of the main characters also have such a perfect fit to their characters I couldn't have imagined them as anyone else. The acting was surprisingly really good especially since for a few of them this is one of their 5th or 6th works. They helped tell the story so well and there wasn't a moment where i had questioned the acting.
Who allowed them to have a soundtrack this good...? Half the time I don't care about soundtracks...but this one has such a warm and sombre vibe that I added a few of the songs to my playlist. It really tightens the idea of this being a feel good watch. Though it didn't give me as big as of impression as the rest of the show I am now obsessed with the white coast.
Overall, if this happens to be your first drama, you are going to enjoy it. Go into it with an open mind. This might be bias because I've already re-watched it (literally within the week I finished it)...But it stuck with me so much in more than just a "it was a good show" sense. I think the characters and the story were told magnificently. The downside to this show is you are going to severely miss them when it ends.

It's not scary to try something and fail, it's scary not to try it at all and have had a chance!
Well, the ratings themselves speak for the drama, it was perfection! As someone who has watched a lot of сdramas, I took a break last year, so now I've decided to go back to watching. And there's nothing more beautiful than coming back with great drama ☺️. Drama is romance as you can see, but some of the major genres I'd like to mention as well are: Slice of life, Rom-Com, Youth, High School, Family Relationships, Hardship. I can safely say that this is a drama that will remain unforgettable because it captures the harsh reality and difficulties that we all go through in life. But on the other hand, there are the beautiful, magical and amazing moments that we create together and that make us forget the things that hinder and torment us, building a new magical world in which we shine as brightly as we can. I'm going to talk a little bit more about the story because I've already started with it. To be honest, this is the best-written story I've ever seen. Simple, perfection!! In the whole story, we encounter the lives of young teenagers who are so innocent, so unspoiled, who struggle in life helping each other, discovering what life is, what the meaning of life is, how to love and be loved, finding love and happiness in those who make you love them in the moment you live but tomorrow make you love them even more and harder. I think the story is written so directly that anyone would understand it and find themselves in it. I love it when the message of the play has to be found on my own, but even more so when I am surprised by the writer's excellent quotes that perfectly complement the story and present to me what the actors have subtly and superbly conveyed. Some of my favorites are that life is like a train and we are the passengers stopping at different stations, I also adore "I realized I love you even more today." I think these quotes alone complement the drama and make it even more perfect. The first quote actually talks about life that we are all different, that we choose different things in life, do what we are good at, stay with the people we love, who mean to us, and leave behind the past, building a new future ahead of us. But we don't forget about the past no matter how hard we have struggled in life, it is still a part of us, but the present is a new chance for change, to work for success for a new and better life that will give us the future that lies ahead. And it's up to us, it's all about being persistent in believing and trying because every effort brings success, and with people who fulfill the precious things for us in life, we're sure to succeed. In fact, this play tells us how rich you are in life having happiness, joy, and love. Sometimes it's the little things we do for those we love, the moments we spend together building priceless memories, that make us feel the happiest, the most powerful, the strongest, the richest, the most fulfilling. I like that we see both the faults and those imperfections in the drama, which are what make the drama even more beautiful. It is a reality that, however harsh, we must accept so that we can overcome the difficulties we have so that we can build our personality, so that we can find ourselves, and work to improve. Because no one and nothing is perfect, but they can be the most perfect version of themselves. And by trying to do something in life, you get even better. It's not scary to try something and fail, it's scary not to try it at all and have had a chance. I'm going to move on to the characters, about whom I have a lot to say. We actually have two main characters who were fantastic, but I want to talk first about the supporting characters who won my heart and made this story endlessly precious. Gu Rang, the second male main character, is one of my favorites. I say one because I can't single out just one, but they were all wonderful. From the beginning, his character was portrayed as a joker, who loves to hang out, fight, and make fun of, disinterested, doesn't care about things, and lives a beautiful life. But over the course of the story we get to know his true character, he is very lonely, considerate, appreciates the things he loves, constantly cherishes and appreciates making it unnoticeable. I think his fear of losing them and not being good enough drove him to do that. In fact, he is a very lonely soul who tries to find happiness in the things that mean to him because he knows how to appreciate what he possesses. His backstory made me love his character even more, because I somehow found myself in him. In fact, it is through his character, as well as through the other characters, that we are confronted with the realities and problems of everyday life as I have already mentioned. Even though he tries to be different, he can't change the reality that is part of him, but he can still face it. That's why I adore him so much. I'm going to continue with Fang, who is the third male main character. His story struck me perhaps the most. It was his difficult childhood that made him learn what was most valuable in life and how to nurture and appreciate it. The story he went through is truly tragic, which hit me so much that I couldn't stop crying. And he's really the character I admire the most. I liked how he was scared and humble because he didn't want to hurt others, he didn't want to do anything that would lose his greatest treasure – his loved ones. That's why it's one of my favorite characters. And then there's his sweet and tender grandmother who is the only supporting character I adored so much that she managed to lure my smile away every time I kept shedding tears as I watched their story. The second main female character is Jia Jiang. Her character was perfect and my favorite. Her temperament and folly was similar to Gu Rang's, but she was gentler and more sensitive, i would say. Her biggest difficulty was finding her true self. Honestly, her story wasn't that hard, but it was something that most of us go through, so I connected with her a lot. It was through her that I realized the point of life. Understanding what love is, what it means to love and what it means to love someone, she grew up and shaped her character. Even though we saw love as a major genre represented in a different way through each character, I think it's through her that we can best learn that. And the message that stands out for her character is that it's never too late to recreate our story. Oh, we've come to the two main characters that I love and value equally. First Zhang Lu Rang, the first male lead, who in my opinion is the most unspoiled character who didn't deserve that story. Even though he was cold and serious, he was actually very sweet deep down and such a good person who tried to hide it. His insecurities caused by comparing him to a perfect person is what made me so angry, so angry, and so sad. I couldn't look at him without crying. But I think his progress is the greatest precisely because he was able to grasp his insecurities and get through them, doing just the things that strengthened him and made him an even more perfect and powerful person. That's why I'm choosing his character as my idol, because he's a true example of everything I've said so far about this play. And his way of expressing emotions was so gentle and endearing, that I think he's the best green flag I've ever seen. And finally, Su Zai Zai is the main female character, and the sweetest thing in the drama. In fact, she tells us her story throughout the drama and we see her perspective. She is the most innocent creature, so good, sweet, playful, cheerfully smiling, who sees every challenge as a new chance for success, and who never gives up, though sometimes the road to success can be very thorny. And we can see from the outset that her efforts will yield success. Indeed, she is portrayed as a fighter, a person who knows what she wants, knows how to deal with and deal with the obstacles in front of her. Although she is so timid and insecure too, she knows how to use her strengths to cope with things and overcome all the difficulties and problems that are part of her life. She's so cute that her expression of love is also too adorable. And her "Rang Rang" is the sweetest thing that will remain the hallmark of this drama forever. So I was very upset, very sad, but also overjoyed to see her play. I was particularly infuriated by the reality that society sets certain standards for "perfection and success" that, if you don't respect them, make you less valuable, make you stupid, a stranger, and belittle you. Are those standards that important? Are you worthless if you don't fulfill them? Do you deserve to be discouraged by something that is forced, imposed? Definitely not. Trying to be the kind of harmony that others are looking for, you're actually losing yourself. And yes, there are countless people to whom you would be a disaster, worthless and useless, but why think of others spending your life convincing them that you are good enough? Actually try to live for yourself, try to think for yourself and accept people who know to appreciate what you have, know to see your true value and appreciate your virtues, but also correct your flaws. Because you're the most perfect person for them. That these young faces have remained so innocent and uncorrupted after all they have experienced is the most beautiful feeling. And yes, we actually saw the power of love that was so unforced, so light and tender but firm and inseparable, that it managed to solve all the problems and stir the hearts of all of us. In fact, all of this experience has shown us the world in all its shades and colors. We've finally come to perhaps my favorite part, which is the OST. Before I have watched the play, I heard the soundtrack, which drew me to it. I'm not someone who notices a lot of OSTs, but this one wowed me so much that it made me want to put it in my playlist that has very few OSTs in it. I'd venture to say this is the best soundtrack, and my favorite as well, who was like a cherry on top for this drama. And of course I'd like to watch this masterpiece again, which deserves a real 10/10 for every possible part of it because it's truly magical. I really liked that even though this play is infinitely real, it still managed to make me feel delusional and bring me into a world so perfect, so unreal, filled with love, happiness, pleasure. I think I've said enough to convince you to watch this play, but also to watch it again if you've already seen it. I think that no matter how much I say it will be enough for that. My words can't measure up to the value of drama, but I truly think I was truly expressing my emotions and the impressions it made on me. Finally, I want to share with you my favorite message from the drama. Although the sun is the brightest star, there are other smaller stars and street lamps that together can light the path ahead. It's all of us who may not always shine, but there will surely come a time when we shine the brightest and light our way, and together with the rising stars, we can shine even brighter and create our lives, write our story. So don't wait any longer, and go on this magical and adventurous journey through life, flying towards this greatness (^o^)Was this review helpful to you?

The best of the best!
THIS DRAMA IS A MASTERPIECE. I've seen so many c-dramas that I loved, but this one really takes the crown. This is proof that you do not need love triangles, second leads, infuriating misunderstandings, toxicity, messy drama, or breakups to make a well-written and captivating show. Other dramas in recent years also accomplish this, but the way WIFTY does it is just so perfect and magical. It may seem like a typical coming-of-age youth drama with a basic plot in a cliché setting, but it’s actually special in a lot of ways, and it's also executed SO WELL that it doesn’t matter. There are so many valuable lessons to learn from this drama that are beautifully interwoven into the characters’ lives as they navigate adulthood, and it is so healing. Every part of the story is meaningful and the delivery is on point. I’ve seen a lot of dramas that fall under this genre/concept or use similar themes, but this is easily my favorite. (Warning: long review ahead.)The character development is incredible. The relationship progression between ZLR and SZZ, in particular, was so natural. I loved that they were kinda together even way before they were actually together lol, like it was so obvious they liked each other and there was never anyone else. It felt like they were already committed to each other before they even came close to confessing and becoming official, but it wasn't some corny, lovey-dovey thing – it felt very genuine and realistic, and it happened gradually but not like a slow burn (they managed to achieve the perfect balance). ZLR wasn’t the cold, tsundere type you would expect him to be. He’s quiet and introverted, but not mean or aloof. He’s quite clear about his feelings and intentions and he reciprocates the things she does for/with him. He is kind, he looks out for her, he notices her, he’s attentive, he shows he cares through small gestures, he always responds to her messages/calls/letters, he speaks to her gently, the list goes on and on. It is such a breath of fresh air to not only see an FL who is super active but to also see an ML reciprocating and not ignoring or dismissing her or finding her annoying. I feel like it’s so rare to come across this type of relationship dynamic in dramas – it’s always one chasing and the other rejecting, but that doesn’t happen at all here. He doesn’t really hide his feelings about her (he did shy away sometimes at the start or pretend like he wasn't doing anything special for her when he obviously was, but it was charming and she can always read him like a book – and he knows she can), and she definitely never hid her feelings for him. This is the first drama I’ve seen that depicts this pre-relationship phase so well and takes its time with all of the subtle-yet-obvious actions, hints, and glances between them as well as the teasing, jealousy, cute interactions, and candid conversations. And it never got boring, the pacing was really good and every episode was interesting and entertaining.
And once they actually started dating, their relationship was literally everything I ever wanted. They actually communicate and talk to each other. There are no fights or misunderstandings. They unconditionally support each other and are always there for one another. They wholeheartedly trust each other and never let anyone or anything interfere with their relationship or get between them. They are thoughtful, considerate, and understanding toward one another. They are both the greenest flags and bring out the best in each other. Undoubtedly one of the healthiest relationships I’ve ever seen in a drama, especially in a youth drama. I just love them so much, they're so sweet together and are absolute couple goals. I felt so single watching this drama.
I really felt for ZLR when it came to his individual arc about his backstory, family, and academics. There were a lot of things I could relate to, and you can see how his upbringing shaped him and affected his self-esteem. It's a tough story with complex emotions and feelings involved, I could understand him on a deep level and my heart really hurt for him at some points. I am so glad he opened up because of his friends and that we got to see him smile and talk more as the drama progressed, and I like that his demeanor changed gradually while still staying true to his reserved nature and personality. It felt very natural and authentic. It was wonderful to watch him develop into a more confident person, and I really admire him for being well-disciplined, persistent, determined, and resilient. And as for SZZ, I love how she knows her self-worth. She is the cutesy type of FL like we’ve seen many times before, but her character is actually different and refreshing in a lot of ways. She has a backbone and stands up for herself and for what’s right. When she is wronged, she will defend herself and make a good argument, and she doesn’t back down when challenged. I like that they didn’t reduce her to the typical dumb, poor, helpless, naive FL. Her femininity and vulnerability are portrayed very well, and her confidence, eloquence, and tenacity really shine too. SZZ has her own strengths, she has so much to offer and I'm glad they highlighted that. For example, ZLR and SZZ tutored each other since ZLR was better at math and SZZ was better at English. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, like we all do in real life, and can help each other improve. And when pursuing ZLR, she valued her friendship with him above all and never begged him with the whole “pick me, choose me, love me” thing. SHE chose him. She believes in him. And as good as he was for her, she knew she was good for him as well whether it be as friends or more – and they really are the best for each other. She may have been the clingier one in the beginning, but she would never let him or anyone walk all over her. She showed that she would never chase after a man who doesn’t like her or doesn’t want to be with her. She is strong-minded, smart, brave, courageous, and also highly emotionally intelligent. She is adamant about pursuing her own goals, and I completely agree with her that we should not sacrifice or give up our dreams for others – we should focus on ourselves and become better together. I love that they are strong as individuals and even stronger together. And I enjoyed watching the rest of their friend group grow as well.
All in all, I loved the whole storyline and all of the main/side characters. Everything just felt so real and organic and human, and this drama really teaches you a lot about life, school, family, work, and relationships. There is nothing I would change. I could nitpick and say I wish we got to see just a little bit more of ZLR and SZZ's married life at the end, but I was totally fine with it (after all, this was a youth drama so the focus was on that). Honestly I'm grateful they even included those extra bits, the finale was beautiful and really wrapped up the show nicely. The kiss scenes maybe could have been a little better but they were fitting for the setting and characters so I was also ok with it, they were still decent and did not take away from the show by any means. With how amazing the writing, acting, and production is, I can't bring myself to criticize this drama very much, it was flawless to me. I am so happy I have found my ultimate comfort show. I’ll definitely be rewatching this one often. 10/10!!!

Youthful and light coming-of-age drama
This was a really light, fast and cute watch. Overall, I thought it was pretty good, but I must enlighten how the first few episodes made me cringe so hard that it felt even a little painful at times. Su ZaiZai’s flirtatious approach was so embarrassing and hard to get used to that I almost dropped the drama because of it. I don’t really like when the female protagonists are so head over heels out of nowhere that they make it way too obvious too early in the story. Thank goodness Zhang Lurang wasn’t the rude and arrogant kind of popular guy and also fell for her pretty quickly. My favorite character was Gu Ran. I really wish the drama had given him and Jiang Jia more screen time in the university phase of the drama… The way their relationship was resolved felt really rushed. I wasn’t satisfied enough!

VERY GOOD HIGHSCHOOL DRAMA
I watched this since it is the talk of the internet along with Hidden LoveImmediately after episode 1 I was hooked and my god the FL was soooo cute. At first, it's all about FL wanting the attention of his crush and trying to get him, but as you progress through the story they slowly expand to the other cast and deep dive into their lives, while maintaining the dynamic of FL and ML, and I like it since the other characters are really interesting.
Slowly you see the development of each character little by little, you'll notice it from the way they act and their facial expressions, then the moment you realize it you're already in love with all the characters.
The way they do the interactions of FL and ML tho, ITS SOOO GOOD. it's sooo five head since they make sure, it's not for the sake of "they need to interact" like they always build it and you won't notice it building up to an interaction
I love how good the writer is at limiting the characters to a certain number, so you won't get overwhelmed by who is who, like why don't we explore this person and this person, there's none of that. Like the intention is very clear, they only want you to focus on the main characters and their friends. The way they did it was so tasteful like they only give the small parts to the extra side characters that don't ruin the flow of the dynamic and story.
Something took me off of my immersion with this drama though and that was when I thought "will this get dragged on?" because around ep 18-19 they're still in the high school side, but you can already see they're trying to build it up to the pay off that you've been waiting, and yeah long and behold it was worth it, nothing grand, nothing special, but still great♥
After all of the high school shenanigans, now we're finally on to the college side of things and this is where the story gets fast paced, like a little fast paced. I was kinda amazed how they are rushing the story, while also maintaining the key points that they want to show on the college side and even on the adult side of things. I get it, I think the story already ended in the payoff, but I guess they still wanna show the audience, what's beyond.. and I realized that this is the closest to real life couple, like how a couple would act that I've ever seen. you look at 1st Couple and they're so grounded. Like the adult side of the story, I watched it and they're so similar to couples that I've seen in real life.
Very good cdrama i love it♥

Interesting story: 0%
I was excited to watch this show, the rating is at 9.0 with 26k viewers, which is incredibly high. I really expected this to be better than similar shows, the most obvious one being a love so beautiful. This show basically takes on the same exact storyline and progression sequence. It starts in the past in the early 2000s, and then goes into university, and then work life. The difference is that this drama has no plot. Like at all. I mean you could say two people falling for each other is a plot, but it really is not one, especially in this drama. The show starts with the FL being in love with the ML, and the ML is clearly already interested in her. There is no thrill in watching a show that literally starts with two people being head over heels with each other, like what is interesting about that? I really want to turn the mic to Cdrama fans who time and time again rate dramas like this with incredibly high ratings, just look at the ratings for "Hidden Love," another plotless drama. Do these fans just rate things while closing their eyes? The ML is good looking, its a school drama, so let's give it a 10/10! I feel like Cdrama fans are completely unaware of what it takes for a drama to be considered a 10/10. It needs to have a plot first, to even be considered a drama. This is just like watching a CCTV of a bunch of high schoolers lives, you'll yawn and put it in the background for the aesthetic, but will you remember it or care to follow along? No. There is no point in the show where the two leads have a dilemma. There is no fight, no crises, nothing. Nothing that makes a drama, a drama. There is no drama, this is a happy go lucky show where everything goes right for the leads. Listen, I love how healthy their relationship is, that was the one great point of this, but couldn't the writers think of something to make the drama more interesting??? I'm sorry for repeating this, but can someone explain how this is rated 9.0????? This is why drama watchers cannot trust the Cdrama community. I know Cdrama fans say things like "you just don't get it", but you know what, yall are right. We do not get at all how you are watching no plot shows when there's so many interesting binge worthy dramas to watch with the exact same premise of a girl and boy in high school falling in love.
If you're someone over the age of 18, this drama is gonna bore you out of your mind. But the ML is nice to look at so... do as you wish?

Little bit dull
I've watched numerous dramas about high school students, so I wasn't initially very interested in this one. The reason I decided to watch it was because of a scene I saw on YouTube that I really liked. However, that scene appeared only at the end.The drama follows the characters from their teenage years through adulthood, from grade 9 to marriage and having children. It beautifully portrays how the course of life changes and how relationships grow stronger over time. I found the last episodes to be the most compelling.
Another scene I particularly liked was when the younger brother shared his feelings with his older brother's girlfriend. He expressed his worry about his brother and questioned why was he so affected by others' opinions, which had created a barrier between them. He reminisced about the times when his brother cared deeply for him.

Overhyped?
This is an unpopular opinion but I didn't love this drama. The cast was good and I believe the story was not bad either. I think this is just not my poison. I skipped most of the scenes because it got so boring for me. The reason why it ended on my watch list, was because everyone and their mother was swearing by it. A few even mentioned that it was the perfect drama to watch if you wanted to heal your heart after watching Hidden Love. I think I might have gone in with high expectations. It just did not hit the mark. The leads were great. But the flow of the story just didn't do it for me. It had cute ending but it still didn't quite hit the spot. I guess it's just a matter of preference. All in all cute story. Was this review helpful to you?
Nice. Simple. High-school sweetheart yet inspiring.
Honestly, this drama has been popping up on my Netflix feed and I decided to check it out. It's only 30 minutes per episode giving you 7 hrs 20 mins to finish.I love their chemistry, and how their relationships build up and the other cast. Their group reminds me of my high school friends without romances haha.
The memories they created together during their school days, ups and downs, and the struggles of finding what they want to do with their lives and careers.
The way they added a camera to be used to film their daily lives gives me 90s vibes and the drama ‘25-21’.
Seeing the screen of those films just makes me emotional. Even though they met in 2012, times went by fast.
From start to finish, I have nothing else to say. It may be simple, but the way the main characters are portrayed, and how the male lead is introverted shows how his character drastically changes because of the female lead. This change is an example that anyone who comes into your life will make a difference.
I got emotional once in a while because of my experiences in high school with friends and life in general.
“We cried, laughed, parted, and met again. The charm of youth is never about getting what you want, but about every unexpected tomorrow and every person you meet by chance.”
This quote really inspires me to be patient and not to be pressured with life.
