Sweet, but boring and slow-moving.

I enjoyed You Are My Glory, but only to the extent that I could play it in the background while I did other things.

Story:

I really wish Chinese studios would stop saturating the market with e-sports dramas (and Yang Yang would stop starring in them) because the story set-up often feels so contrived. That aside, though, You Are My Glory is remarkably well-executed. Strong chemistry, witty dialogue, and likeable protagonists turned a lacklustre, overused premise into something worth watching. I do have one large grievance to air, though, and that is the pacing - this show is very slow. It could easily have been 15-20 episodes instead of 32. There are insanely long stretches in which nothing really happens, or when things do happen, it takes far too long to resolve. If I needed to read subtitles I don't think I would have watched this show at all because I simply wouldn't have the patience to sit there.

Acting/Cast:

I credit the cast with about 80% of the reason I watched as much of the show as I did. Dilireba and Yang Yang have good chemistry, and this is one of Yang Yang's better roles in my opinion. Yu Tu's quiet introspection suits him much better than some of the more assertive characters he's attempted in the past. Dilireba's character is adorable and charming, not obsequious, and I appreciate that she is independent of the ML and romance. I found myself rooting for her more than I root for FLs with similar backstories/contexts.

Music:

The OSTs are pervasive but not bad. Don't have much else to say about it.

Rewatch Value:

I don't think I can sit through You Are My Glory a second time, but it's as good a choice as anything else when I want to put something on in the background while I do chores.

TL;DR: The plot of this story meanders but the pay-off in sweet and romantic scenes as well as chemistry between the two leads makes up for it.

High recommend drama!!!

"You are my glory" is praised for sticking to the original novel. But this is what makes many people think that the content of the film is not attractive enough. Partly because the content talks a lot about games and aerospace topics.
For me, "You are my glory" is a gentle movie, suitable for those who want to relax after a stressful day. It is a pretty good "healing medicine".
I stayed up 2 nights to finish watching the entire drama. No misunderstandings nor break-ups throughout the movie, just the details of everyday life are peaceful enough to satisfy movie lovers like me.

•This is one of the few Chinese dramas that I’ve rewatched multiple times (10+ times).
•I enjoyed seeing the chemistry between the YY and Dilraba. Cute romance and their acting are very natural. I hope they could collab more in the future.

My Post Drama Depression is super real

I watched YAMG without much expectations but the fluff got me really good, as expected from Gu Man!!! The build up is slightly long, like a slow burn that sort of drama but I live for the interaction of the two ML and FL so much I could cry T_T I think this series will live in my head rent free for awhile longer.. I remember reading another review that said that even the manager and side characters don't have their full names revealed, which meant that the drama was heavily focused on these two main leads - which I noticed actually helps with the plot to an extent.

I think its just a super cute series because it involved accurate game information (which ws apparently because they were sponsored by wzry too i think), and as someone who loves romance and games this is definitely rather high on the list for me ;w;;

YALL GO WATCH IT!!!

First thing first, the reason I decided to watch this drama was definitely because of their visuals. Their visuals are seriously no jokes. Yang Yang and Dilraba Dilmurat are just too perfect.

Now let's be serious here, why you should watch this drama, you may ask.

At first, I feel like the flow of the drama is a bit quite slow, but it's understandable because in this story the mains are at their 30s, which means they are all adults and mature, so they are not going to fall in love easily like yk those kinda teen dramas. Therefore, they need their time to develop and get to know each other. And I have to say that it's very realistic compare to our life.

About their relationship, I believe that their relationship is the heathiest rela I've ever watch. There are no arguments, no misunderstanding and especially no stupid breakup. I feel like almost every dramas including cdrama and kdrama, most of the time, one of the main will decided to break up because they want to "solve the problem" or something like that. But I think a good rela is where 2 people together solve it, right? So if you want to watch a soft, calming drama this is perfect for you.

Last but not least, I love bout this drama is that the ways both the mains know how to maintain their relationship and keep the balance between their love, thier job and their friendship with other people. You can understand their relationship as "make it private but not a secret".

I love You Are My Glory so much and have rewatched it 5 times

I am a fan of the novel and continue to be for this adapted drama. Although writing this very late review after watching it at least five times may seem unnecessary, I am so in love with "You Are My Glory" that I want to share it with others.

First, keep in mind the common tropes found in typical romance plots: the characters are schoolmates from the past, featuring an unrequited love from the female lead, Jing Jing, toward the male lead, Yu Tu; the two reconnect by an inciting incident after 10 years and just by that the audience witness a journey of love and life as sweet as your favourite pastry. Yet YAMG is incredibly lighthearted and romantic, but still grounded at some essential point, setting it apart from similar dramas that can often be cheesy and illogical.

My favourite part of the drama is the depiction of the main characters' lives. Indeed I argue that if the show did not focus on Yu Tu's profession as an aerospace engineer—showing his journey to explore space science, struggling with his parents' disapproval during college, and feeling guilty for not providing enough support for his family—it wouldn't be as successful. Similarly, Jing Jing's role as a celebrity highlights the impact of social media, the competitive work environment, fame - money - burden. Without these elements, the drama would not succeed, even with the most famous actors. We witness the insecurities of both the leads as they strive to pursue dreams and navigate their lives, making the characters feel authentic and creating a believable story.

Jing Jing has had a crush on Yu Tu during high school because he is handsome and smart (haha, of course), moreover, he is an idealist who boldly talks about landing on Mars with his friends. Many years later, she falls in love with him again and again forever is still because she appreciates his personality, aspirations and beliefs. Jing Jing admires Yu Tu's unwavering principles, she would be sad but empathetic about his decision to change paths, she would be upset and debate on his behalf when someone blames him for being selfish, she supports him no matter what he does. I've read some comments disbelieving the 10 years of unrequited love, but who Qiao Jing Jing loves is not just this cool dude in class, she loves a person pursuing dreams, she loves his spirit and maybe loving Yu Tu is a way Jing Jing believe in the greater things than oneself, to honour the extraordinary world they live in.

While I do find some parts of the aerospace work in the drama to be dull and uninteresting, particularly the professional talks, they don’t blend well with the main story. When I rewatched this drama, I skipped over those sections.

Let’s talk about the collaboration between two major stars - Yang Yang and Dilraba as Jing Jing and Yu Tu. I was excited when I saw the announcement! Given Gu Man's success with romance stories, it's a fitting choice. Their exceptional acting and chemistry are perfect for the mischievous, delightful Jing Jing and the introverted, quiet demeanour Yu Tu.

This review has become quite lengthy, so I would like to conclude here. Since YAMG was released in 2021, I have occasionally revisited it and enjoyed watching Jing Jing's poor gaming skills while Yu Laoshi calmly observed his future wife by her side; cheering for their iconic winning moment; heartbreaking when they had so many worries about their relationship and I genuinely wish they could hold hands on their way to the stars and galaxies forever after.

P/S: A final word for those wanting to check YAMG out: it is definitely worth a watch! You can expect a slow-burn romance, cute moments, high-quality production and acting, and a well-developed modern love story.

Sweet Romance ❤️❤️❤️

Tip - please do not stop watching- this drama started with slowburn romance. But everything will change after 15 episodes. Keep watching till the end and it will satisfy you to the max. No more game, Hot scene romance comedy all in one.

Slowburn romance, healthy relationship and awesome story plot. The chemistry between Yang Yang and Dilriba is just on another level. Their intimate scene felt so genuine and makes you wonder if they are really in the relationship. Their visuals is crazy as well. Guys, please dont doubt and watch this drama. The ealier episodes go deeper in their career, games, ambitions and deep feeling. Mid to the end episode is the best of the best, full of romance and comedy yet still realistic, you will be smiling all the time and keep wanting more of their sweet romance. The best c-drama so far me. There’s no dragging and the plot were so smooth. Recommended. I wish there will be more YangDi pair project in future.

P/s: Those who give bad rating only watch few episodes and it’s too bad they missed out the best thing in c-drama. Good drama must have variance flow and realistic. And this is definitely one of it!

perfectly depicts a healthy relationship

It’s common to think that dramas with only a couple will be slightly boring as there are many dramas with multiple couples to keep the story going so as to fill in enough episodes. However, this drama shows how having only one couple can be amazing too.

I really love the relationship between JingJing and YuTu, both so understanding and trusting of each other. JingJing is also super adorable and lovely!!! Reba really did a good job portraying this character. Tbh, I didn’t finish any of her previous shows but this one is really good, definitely recommend! She’s so attractive. YangYang also portrayed the character well, and is also very charming.

Though I have to admit that there were many times when I cringed during their PDA. Though sweet, I couldn’t really handle their PDA. Hahaha, but if you could overlook these scenes, it’s really an enjoyable one. The plot was really good too, no unnecessary drama to drag the storyline.

Overall, I enjoyed this drama and would recommend if you enjoy a simple yet cute drama!

Where can I find myself a Yu Tu?

This drama is everything I didn't know I needed and more. Healthy relationship?... Setting boundaries when needed?... No unnecessary drama...? Realistic story...? Check, check, and check all the way!

I loved it so much it's like I'm not even sure how to express how I'm feeling right now.

Now while the producers almost satisfied all my (non-chaotic) drama wishes, I feel like I'm still left wishing for something more at the end. Maybe this is what reality is supposed to feel like and life doesn't have a perfect bow-tied ending. Or maybe I just can't come to terms with the fact that it's over? Anyway, here I am in tears both in love and devastated.

I highly recommend this drama to anyone who needs a break from all those grandiose stories that might sound fresh at first but end up being a mess with too many twists.

This has deep messages, great acting, and a simple but meaningful story.

Life is too short for stressful drama.

Life is too short for stressful drama. Why spend all that time watching and be stressed? Don’t our lives already provide enough of that?

Summary of the series:
- Light hearted rom/com; series had great flow
- simpatico characters
- villains are kept at bay easily, no long struggles, calamity or miscommunications to cause more drama and stress
- love how the series dont stop when the ML/FL get together. The series continues. We seldom find this where you get to enjoy the happiness for a few more episodes after they become a couple.
- ending was not done succinctly, so glad no rush endings like lots over series

By far one of my fav of all time since I like joyful, stressless series: recommended to watch for sure

If you are looking for gratuitous stress/drama, frequent miscommunications, abrupt ending, insipid side stories, then this is not for you.

Expected Nothing Less from Gu Man

Both Yang Yang and Dilraba Dilmurat's acting abilities shine bright in this drama. Acting alone deserves a watch. Gu Man's story telling never falls to impress me. While Love O2O, is a sweet early college love story this is a mature drama. It's nice seeing the female lead already know herself and very clear where she stands both in her job and her own feelings, while the Male lead is the one confused and lost on an uncertain path he doesn't fully understand. Both characters shine in their own right but also like the chemistry it's the real personal moments of encouragement and questions being asked in the dialogue that make this drama relatable especially to people who are in their late 20's and beyond. The uncertainty in life, and striving to work towards your dreams even after time has sunk in, hit close to home for me.

I highly recommend this drama. Gu Man didn't disappoint and Yang Yang and Dilraba's acting in this is some of their best I have seen.

This drama is honestly the first one that made me feel sad and alone...it was a weird feeling to have. Still don't know how I feel about that...

Not as exciting as I thought it would be, but still great.

Perhaps it's because of the high expectations I had before starting this, but this was not the masterpiece I expected it to be because of the reviews. It is definitely a perfectly romantic and heart-fluttering drama but not for those who prefer something more fast-paced.
It started out with the story of him helping her out for a game tournament during his break, which is a unique and sort of engaging storyline but after that not much was going on besides their romantic life, which i found cute but overdone as it went on for the full last quarter of the drama. The first half did have my attention, but i had to skip a lot of boring scenes (including most of the male lead's work), which made me wonder if i should keep watching. Overall not a bad drama, just wish it didnt entirely revolve around their romance.

Should you watch this drama?

So there is a high chance that you might be wondering if you should watch this drama. My answer is YES because this drama is actually really unique. You are my glory is a romantic story between a top actress and an aerospace engineer. I think with this description, you might be expecting a very cliche plot with maybe reversed "rich girl poor boy roles"... but it's not at all like that.

This drama is beautifully scripted and has a great pace. I especially love the pace of this drama from episode 15 onwards. At the start, you might find that the drama is focused on gaming but that's the uniqueness of this drama. It's very versatile with many subthemes and as the drama progresses, so does the main theme. There is a focus on gaming, acting, aerospace engineering, space curiosity, friendship, romance (of course!), and for the first time in a long time, no unnecessary drama!

You won't find evil mean characters, backstabbing ex's, unnecessarily prolonged dramatic events, or plots that annoy your brain. Instead, you would find two very sensible, realistic, and mature characters with their own respective lives and their journey towards each other and how they fall in love. They have different friends (adding many new characters to the mix), they live different lives (but in a good way), they have their own special place in their hearts for careers (they work really hard and still maintain a healthy work-life balance), they also have really nice/sweet families who are really supportive, and just adorable scenes that would make one's heart flutter or at least make you giggle (which is a must because it's a romantic drama!).

So this is my conclusion... I seriously suggest that you watch it and give it a try. It's a really good drama that I came across after a long time. Hope my review helps!
