Deceiving from the start..

At the beginning of the show Yoon Jae Gook says something like "let's love while we are breaking up"...the phrase should have been "let's struggle and suffer by ourselves while breaking up". They had more chemestry in the first episodes while they were not together rather then when they're a couple. They never really face their problems as a team, but they seem to leave one another out of their struggles, like they need to face everything on their own.
And the plot is so frustrating! All the world is against them and their love in a way that is unreasonably fierce. Maybe the cultural gap between Western and Eastern culture makes it hard for me to understand completely why they act like this, but only in Itaewon Class I found a similar harshness. I mean, ok, ok being mean at the beginning, but at a certain point it all becomes unbearable and unjustifiable.
Thank God we had the secondary couple lightening up the scene.
Anyway, despite many reviews stating the contrary, I found the acting of Song Hye Kyo very good and credible most of the time, above all when portraying both the happy and the sad moments of the relationship with her friends and family.

Going in circles

The drama's plot is basically centered around two people that are unsure of themselves and their own desires, but at the same time know exactly what they want, career-wise. The ML wasn't as bad, his character was more stable and willing to engage in the relationship than the FML. The FML was the one that made the plot possible, being unsure of what she wanted. She kept avoiding her feelings towards the ML, but eventually started dating him despite how their parents did not want them together. This was so frustrating; it was like watching a pair of high schoolers that broke up get back together a dozen times despite breaking up a dozen times. Looking back, I wouldn't say that the main couple's relationship was very shallow (bc they kept breaking up ;=; literally nothing but angst was able to develop between them). The best couple I would say is one of the supporting couples. I'd go as far as saying I only managed to finish the drama since the FML's friend's story was so touching. In short, the main couple was eh, the side couples' stories were way more entertaining and interesting.

Mother's Acting Child Gets a Plague

There is nothing special about the Korean drama 'Now, We Are Breaking Up'.

The sex scene in the initial episode was just a gimmick to make the audience curious about the next episode, but ended up disappointed because there was nothing special.

Song Hye-Kyo fans (like me ) and Jang Ki-Yong fans may be delighted to see the appearance of beautiful and handsome idol actresses and actors. But true drama connoisseurs will frown after the story puzzle comes together and takes shape.

"Today, is there a mother who forbids her child from dating her sister's ex-boyfriend?

After all, your brother is dead, right? Why bother?

It gets even weirder to see Ha Young-Eun's mother also forbids her child's love affair. Believe me, on this earth there is not a single mother who is not worried about seeing her child go to dusk without a companion.

Moreover, the mother of Ha Young-Eun has an opinion that is out of the box. She filed for divorce after 40 years of marriage. The reason she felt harassed, her role as a wife and mother, was never appreciated by her husband.

A woman like this shouldn't be easily provoked by petty arguments like Yoon Jae-Guk's stepmother. He will prioritize the happiness of his son, not the happiness of other women.

Fortunately, the drama Now, We Are Breaking Up explores many stories. About the fashion industry, for example. Apart from having to deal with design plagiarism and raw material suppliers, as a designer, Ha Young-Eun, played by Song Hye Kyo, has to work hard for fast fashion. Buyers always need the latest fashion clothes to escape the stresses of life.

(From the channel Korea Reomit, we will know that in fact the people of South Korea are. They work hard to buy branded clothes and bags).

Sparks of problems that arise from parents also appear in this drama. It's not about his parents' extreme rejection of Ha Young Eun's girlfriend, but an elderly couple's fight that didn't solve the problem early on.

But the most so sweet is the relationship with his 2 best friends, Director Hwang Chi-Sook and Jeon Mi-Sook who are suffering from cancer. Huhuhu as Ha Young-Eun's boss, Director Hwang Chi-Sook makes emotions, his job is just make up, have fun and pressure Ha Young-Eun. But he really loves Ha Young-Eun.

The rest are quotes scattered throughout the episode. I like to read and take notes. These include:

It has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over quickly. Style is forever. You don't have to wear a label to be important. (Ralp Lauren)

Im gonna keep the review short. First of all The lead has absolutely 0 chemistry & im doen with SHK wooden face. I know kiyong can do better bcoz i've seen him in other dramas but the poor script & direction made him look wooden as well. The drama is about fashion industry but There is 0 essence of fashion in female lead's clothing. Even its okay to not be okay was phenomenal in female lead's styling. The only thing bearable was chihyung. I cant believe sehun has improved this Much in acting. I would have loved to see more of him & sooyoung in the drama but too bad they werent leads or even 2nd leads. They were side characters who are more interesting than main characters.

help

i don't drop stuff, but i was watching this drama while it was coming out and i couldn't help but suffer whenever I'd have to go and watch the episode.. the plot itself seemed nice in the beginning, but the more it would go the worst it would get.. it was like watching two statues interact with each other.. i usually like the leads's acting, but here the chemistry was non existent.. If I could go back in time I would tell myself how bad it is and unwatch this drama.. and this speaks volumes Abt what i felt since I don't even review stuff I don't like usually

Don’t Prolong Your Agony

If you haven’t started this show yet, better not start. It is way too boring. Nothing interesting plot to follow. I am utterly disappointed in this drama that I dragged myself to even reaching EP6. I’m glad that I dropped it early on and I saved my precious time.

I’m sorry but the leads have zero chemistry. Everything just pissed me off. The only thing that’s quite enjoyable is the sick female friend and her jerk of a cheating husband. The second leads were much better but still wasn’t enough to salvage the breaking show apart.

Overall, I’m glad that I made the right choice to drop it right away. It spared my time from getting wasted. If you are thinking of dropping it midway, follow my lead. Don’t hesitate. You won’t miss anything.

Now I’m ‘ Breaking’ Up With This Show…

Sometimes when you’ve got to drop a show, you’ve got to drop a show and as much as it pains me to say it ‘ Now, We’re Breaking Up’ is one of them.

In all honesty I didn’t actually think the series started off on a bad note per say. The pacing was a bit slow but I was willing to give it a go as an “ in-between” series.

However six episodes and I really can’t go on. I’ll be honest by saying that I didn’t want to drop this one. I hate dropping shows but between the shoddy line deliverances and acting this isn’t one I’m going to continue.

“Same Old Song Hye Kyo”

Song Hye-kyo has a beautiful face. Her overall appearance is easy on the eyes. That’s common knowledge. But we seem to forget that she has chosen Acting as a profession. So why isn’t she showing any professional actor’s skill in her supposedly “carefully chosen” projects?

“Now, We Are Breaking Up” is once again very much like a glossy Song Hye-kyo poster ad. Lovely to look at but after a while it leaves you wanting for more substance, more talent, and more dynamism.

The writer is being kind and generous to this veteran thespian by not assigning her a difficult and challenging role to portray. But it is at the expense of the viewers who are expecting high quality and first rate entertainment from someone of her stature.

I closed my eyes and i hear the FL in Descendants of the Sun

Every time i watch an episode of NWBU, i end up falling asleep. The minute i close my eyes and i hear dialogues of FL, i hear the voice, tone and inflection of Song Hye Ko when she played the lead in Descendants of the Sun. Her character is obviously different in DOTS but her potrayal of the role in NWBU is very much the same as DOTS.

NWBU is an effective sleeping pill (at least for now). Insomiacs should give this drama a try. This might be your magic pill.

I am not dropping it though. I will just wait for it to be finished first so i can happily skip the boring parts, which i sincerely hope will not be that many in the succeeding episodes.

Questionable Plot???

last ss screams summary of what i’m thinking about NWABU, drop it after 4 episodes even with speedrun 2x , i mean i ady feel uncomfortable with the plot of fm falling in love with his dead lover’s brother??? likee mannn i mean and she still continue after knowing that and bcs they resemble each other??? emmm , i like JKY but nah SHK acting is bland and she ALWAYS have the same role pretty much like Lee Min Ho, that’s it visual not equal to good acting, imma bored at her lack of acting range at this point. and tbh NWABU get good rating only bcs it’s on national tv and have a good time slot, don’t think it gonna survive if it’s in cable networks

Such a disappointment.

I was initially so excited for this drama, especially because the main couple (Song Hye-kyo and Jang Ki-yong) looked so good together. I was excited for this because the previews and promo videos looked promising!

The beginning was good, but it only went downhill. Honestly speaking, I probably would have dropped this way sooner if it weren't for the side stories/couples (most especially Sehun). It's a meh kdrama, I definitely think they could've done so much better with this.

The main couple were just too boring for me that the supporting characters took the spotlight, and I kept waiting for the (main) characters to finish whatever they were doing for that scene so I could see more of the supporting characters. Not gonna lie, the casting director did a good job with choosing the cast because everyone was so good looking here, and probably reason why a lot of us stayed, lol. Plus Sehun is here.

Big disappoinment

This is the first time I gave up to watch JKY's drama. I love his acting but nothing can convince me to watch more than ep 5. It is so sad for him and SHK to be put in such a storyline. They deserve better drama.
It was a nonsense. It took me so long to wait until the episodes done, but it's totally useless.
Why are these Korean dramas getting boring nowadays? Please do make something watchable and enjoyable.
It seems like the production crew really put all the effort to the main characters, while the rest of it is bulshit.
