This story is basically revolves around the period of King Gwanghae and the coup that took place during his rule. The political aspect is not interesting but the love story is. I especially like it when at the beginning when the couple keeps bickering around like an old married couple and the kid keeps fanning the flames. To sum the story up, it is about this guy who kidnaps a girl, find out that she's the "wrong girl" but too late to turn things back cuz she is also a " princess". and then they decide to pretend like a "married couple". but then the politics catch up and the couple gets drag into the political fight. blah blah blah.
granted that the actors are a bunch of veteran actors, the acting is obviously good.
I won't judge if watching this drama will be a waste of time or not. But for a historical drama it give quite a raw feeling.

Stockholm syndrome
*Minor Disclosures*The series felt like watching a storyteller telling the story in a monotone voice. It doesn't trigger much emotions but it's still interesting enough to listen to. While the basis of women kidnapping for wives was very intriguing for me (as it still happens in our current world), unfortunately the plot was a bit all over the place and repetitive at that. The dialogue wasn't done very well and the life transitioning of our ML and FL also wasn't very natural. There are scattering plot holes and scenes that didn't make common sense.
However, the romance between the ML and FL was very sweet and there is an interesting plot twist that you sort of see coming. The character with the most growth is Lee Dae Yeop who became my favorite over time. The most annoying character was the ML's mother. For someone who's that thick and ignorant, she definitely was one who wouldn't have been able to help her family when they were wrongfully accused. But unfortunately, her character is terribly realistic as some people who've suffered tend to only see themselves as victims and are hypocritical with their own actions.
Overall, it was one I watched very casually while doing chores. If you're looking for a series that you don't need to take too seriously, this is one of them.

Old-school drama... after all
Sincery I love historical dramas but I won't recommend this one because the storyline is really dissapointing, you can get hoocked because of the cliffangers and also good actings (lead and secondary roles as well) but the overall impression is not that good. If you like people holding hands and bunch of political revelations, this is for you. Lots of angst and crying scenes too. Otherwise, look for another drama.The good point is the stress on confuceen and boudhist backgrounds, we always forget now how ancestor teachings and religion are important in the past. I also really enjoy some cute scenes where the poor princess finally smiles and lives for herself, the humble life in the village with the kid and the other couple. I also like the idea of a second-chance lifetime. But there is too much intrigues and plot twists that definitely kill the mood. Again, I don't blame the acting but the storytelling.
I expected a new way to reflect on the past. We do know that it's not easy to be a woman, and more being a widowed-princess in this time. Here, the whole storyline is rather conservative, with eternal damzel-in-distress rescue scenes.

It really looks like dramas I saw long before, with scenes like a pair of males shoes and female shoes in front of the room which suggests... that they 've done it. The main couple interactions are nice but oh ! So old-fashioned !
The female lead is really graceful (nice bows) but flawless and somewhere annoying, being really the ideal asian type of sweet and docile wife. For example, she is good at archery and there is only ONE scene where she use it, and at the end of the fight, the male lead pull the arc from her because she must not take the burden of killing people (= She is too fragile).
I feel so lost with the alliances and family revelations (so many princes-to-be-king!). And the ending is really inconsistant: the main couple has made a promise to be together in spite of all. But, as soon as the policital matters end, she choose to have her way in becoming a nun! She finally flees with the male-lead, thanks to him (again), she changes her mind.
I really don't why this drama scored so well, maybe the kind of nostalgia vibes.

Like a big sneeze waiting to happen but never happening
This drama had its good moments but a draggy plot and poor writing made it a lot less entertaining and a whole lot frustrating. The bossam part wasn't even the story but rather a mechanism for the main couple to meet.The romance started great with a promise of a touching love story, but it completely fell flat. Even though Ba Woo and Hwa In didn't start their relationship on a positive note, they were never truly enemies. They bickered, cried, supported each other and had some of the most touching moments. I liked how their romance was portrayed as a love story between two mature people trying to survive. Unfortunately, in the second half, all of the emotion and angst completely disappeared leading to a very vanilla relationship completely devoid of passion. They basically became an old married couple who barely touched. And there wasn't a single kissing scene.
Poor editing was the drama's biggest flaw. It had 20 very long hour+ episodes that felt like they would never end. The political intrigue plotline was interesting and the villain was compelling enough to keep me engaged. But, then the writers started introducing filler characters and plotlines. There was a little bit of a mother-in-law from hell who wasn't quite evil, and baby momma drama that only served as a plot device to move the story forward. None of this was necessary, because the writers already had enough material to work with instead of creating new plotlines that were not particularly interesting.
In the last few episodes, everyone started doing stupid things leading to people getting hurt, killed, or captured. Dae Yeop was a terribly written character. I cannot stress enough how much I hate the rejected lover trope. His unrequited love for Hwa In dragged on for the entirety of the show. He just wouldn't move on and kept carrying the torch for a woman who will never love him. On top of that, he single handedly got himself killed because the writers decided the show needed a last minute emotional response from the audience. But it wasn't a heroic death fighting in a battle or sacrificing to save a loved one, but the dumbest death possible that should've never happened.
The ending was disappointing. The political intrigue culminated in a rebellion which ended before it started. The happy couple reunited and lived happily ever after. The end.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but this is one of the best dramas!Everyone should give it a chance at least.
First of all, the story was quite unique, and I loved how they portrayed the life of poor people in joseon
. Of course the show also had a lot of classical saeguk
elements after episode 10.
Some people say they didn't like the other half of the drama. I can agree, it was definitely different than the beginning, but still enjoyable! In my opinion the actions were logical and well-structured. Ending was good, loved it!
The characters were lovable and the acting was super, full of emotions. Altough there wasn't much skinship
between our main leads, the chemistry was so good, that you could tell they love each other from just their eyes.
Highly recommended! Definitely gonna re watch with my family!

Yet another drama that revolved around King Gwanghae and the people of his household. When it was announced that Jung Il-woo would be playing Bawoo a single father who worked as someone who bossam widows to allow them to remarry I immediately got taken to the plot. Having first known him from Haechi, I was interested to see some more of his works.Aside from the whole Bossam plot, I was also intrigued by the plot regarding King Gwanghae and Princess Hwa In. In a way, it made me think about Tale of Nokdu plot. But instead of the story of the king's abandoned son finding love and indirectly involved with the dethronement of King Gwanghae, this time, it was the daughter who had been abandoned. It's was kinda interesting to see a different retelling of what could've happened that led to the dethronement as well as a different portrayal of King Gwanghae in his latter years.
That said, Kwon Yuri did very well in portraying the young widowed Princess Hwa In. Despite this role being her first attempt at a sageuk drama, Yuri managed to bring out the grace and nobility of a royal princess who ended up being widowed even before her marriage.
Jung Il-woo as Bawoo was really wonderful. At first glance, you wouldn't have imagined that this ruffian who kidnaps widows for a living would have such a difficult past, but then the more you see how he lived the more you could understand why he acted that way. I really love the child actor who played his son, they really acted well together. And the story of how this pair of father and son ended up having their lives changed after meeting Princess Hwa In was really so sweet.
I first got to know Shin Hyeonsoo from Ruler and was really surprised that he's in this drama. It was nice to see him playing a different character compared to the one in Ruler. I have to say that the drama had some pretty good casting.
I've heard about the practice of kidnapping widows as brides in some cultures and media so it was interesting to learn there was a proper term for that practice. And as much as the political plot had been prominent throughout the drama, I like how the drama started and ended with someone being bossam-ed. That felt like a good way to wrap up the whole story.

Pourquoi une veuve de Joseon n'a-t-elle pas le droit de se remarier ?
Je l’ai beaucoup apprécié, même si ce n’est pas le drama qui vous tient debout jusqu’à 4 heures du matin, mais cependant le scénario solide, les rebondissements très bien articulés et restant vraisemblables, maintiennent l’intérêt jusqu’au bout.On va retrouver un Roi malmené par ses ministres, surtout l’affreux Conseiller de l’Est, des familles déclassées, des héritiers nobles cachés sous des haillons, une princesse belle et bonne…. Cependant pour une fois ces personnages ont l’air vrai, dans le cadre du Joseon du 17ème siècle. Le Roi est pris dans l’engrenage de tout homme au pouvoir : ménager les puissants, essayer de penser au peuple sans se faire empoisonner par les nobles… Il n’y a pas de débordement de costumes, décors et autre tape à l’œil, mais des personnages attachants, et une intéressante vue sur la politique extérieure de Joseon !
Il y a une certaine dose d’humour assurée par Chub Bae et la dame de Cour Jo, couple drôle et improbable, ainsi que par la présence de l’enfant, et les dialogues sont très bons.
Pour peu qu’on s’intéresse à l’histoire coréenne, elle est ici bien présente, le roi Gwanghae a bien existé, les évènement sont relativement proches de la réalité historique sans que ce soit pour autant la grande fresque façon « Empress Ki » ou « 6 flying dragons » Le Roi voudrait sortir de l’influence de la Chine pour s’allier aux Mandchous (historique) mais il ne le pourra pas, ce qui entraînera la Corée pour longtemps dans cette voie sans issue de l’alliance chinoise.
Si vous avez vu « Live up your name » qui se passe pendant l’invasion japonaise (guerre d’Imjin) ce drama se passe quelques années plus tard…
Mais même si vous n’en avez rien à faire de l’histoire de Joseon, le drama en lui-même est très intéressant, les situations bien écrites. La relation de Ba Wu et de la princesse colle parfaitement à ce qu’elle aurait pu être réellement à cette époque-là : sincère, forte, pudique, respectueuse de la coutume, mais sachant passer au delà…
Ce drama est un sageuk à part, qui préfère les personnages, leur histoire et leur psychologie aux combats, aux riches costumes et décors somptueux, bien que tout à fait enraciné dans l’Histoire et l’époque.
Pour finir, je le conseille vivement !

The Princess, played by Kwon Yoo Ri, truly stands out as a strong and radiant woman who supports those around her. Thanks to her, the male lead (Jung Il Woo) undergoes real growth and self-awareness. She embodies a Woman with a capital W — apparently fragile, yet able to bring positive change to her loved ones, her family, and even the political world.

Non capisco il giudizio così basso dato a questa serie. A me è piaciuta moltissimo: gli attori principali hanno interpretato i loro ruoli in modo convincente e intenso. La storia è allo stesso tempo bella e dolorosa, con un percorso lungo e complesso in cui alla fine l’amore e l’amicizia riescono a trionfare su tutto.
Riguardandola per la seconda volta, ho notato ancora di più la forza del personaggio della Principessa, interpretata da Kwon Yoo Ri. È una figura luminosa, coraggiosa e capace di sostenere e supportare le persone che la circondano. Grazie a lei, il protagonista maschile (Jung Il Woo) intraprende un vero percorso di crescita e maturazione personale, che altrimenti sarebbe stato impossibile.
La Principessa rappresenta una Donna con la D maiuscola: apparentemente fragile e prigioniera delle circostanze, ma in realtà determinante per la vita delle persone che ama, per la sua famiglia e, in ultima istanza, persino per gli equilibri della corte e della politica, dominata da personaggi senza scrupoli e assetati di potere.

"Roubando uma viúva", literalmente!!
Vamos começar pelo começo... O conceito de "Bossam" pode parecer um tanto estranho e engraçado se você o observa com os olhos de hoje em dia (Sequestrar viúvas para se casar com elas, ora essa), mas em sua época, ele tem seus motivos. Ao partir de um fato histórico para construir a narrativa, os envolvidos deram a história uma profundidade maior do que parece à primeira vista. Principalmente se você percebe as nuances e entrelinhas escondidas na primeira metade do drama. Já na segunda metade nos vemos diante de diversas conspirações contra o rei e somos apresentados a problemas complexos dentro da corte.Olhando para o desenvolvimento da história que prestaram-se a contar, apesar de apresentar tantos conflitos e traições, este não me saiu tão corrido como eu pensei que sairia. Isso mostra uma preocupação em tornar a narrativa consistente e para mim vale uma nota de apreciação ao trabalho dos autores. Apesar deste ponto favorável, acho que pecaram na segunda metade da história mesmo assim. Muitas intrigas e conflitos resolvidos de maneira um tanto quanto insatisfatória, de forma que para mim, vê-se que poderiam ser resolvidos de outra forma ou mesmo muito antes no decorrer da narrativa. Também acho que a primeira metade foi mais bem escrita que a segunda, pelo modo como a narrativa se desenvolveu de forma fluida e tão leve para se assistir. Talvez eu esteja sendo injusta com o roteiro, sendo que me algum momento seria necessário resolver os problemas causados e apresentados na primeira metade, então a segunda metade ficou encarregada de solucionar tais problemas.
Quanto ao casting, nada a declarar... Só posso parabenizar os atores que os encarregados pela escolha destes para os papéis. Não esperava ver Kwon Yuri entregando uma atuação tão boa assim, apesar de já esperar que ela não fosse ruim; ou seja, fiquei positivamente surpresa pela competência dela enquanto atriz além de idol. De modo geral, todos entregaram os papéis muito bem, até mesmo o pequeno Cha Dol foi um personagem bem construído e interpretado. Eu só tenho "reclamações" quanto ao ator que interpretou o infame Primeiro Ministro Lee YiCheom, sinceramente, algumas vezes suas expressões eram tão falsas que eu não conseguia discernir uma emoção real do personagem de um fingimento. Mesmo no final, quando era claro que a emoção e preocupação dele eram reais, fiquei confusa com o quão falsa sua expressão (que me pareceu ser) de tristeza parecia. Talvez seja apenas um trejeito do personagem, depois de fingir tanto acabou esquecendo como demonstrar emoções de verdade? kkkkkk
A trilha sonora não foi tão marcante ou presente no decorrer da história como geralmente é nesse estilo de drama. Pode ser que na verdade, as músicas apenas não eram tão memoráveis assim e eu as esqueci rapidamente.
Eu vou fechar dizendo que parece que odiei o drama pelo tanto de reclamações que eu fiz. A realidade não poderia ser mais distante disso. Este foi um dos dramas que mais me prendeu nesse último ano. Não tenho um amor gigantesco por romance, mas o pano de fundo histórico e (eu diria) um tanto inusitado, despertou-me o interesse e pagou pelo meu tempo gasto assistindo o drama. Então, sendo assim, Bossam merece 9/10 em minha concepção de notas justas. Espero que mais pessoas possam ter acesso ao drama e que possam divertirem-se um pouco vendo-o! :)
