Perfect blend of comedy, romance and fiction
Wow! Another gem for this year(2021) although I believed it was filmed in 2019. Please more Chinese dramas like this (another good one is Moonlight- read my review on that!)What I loved most was it’s only 26 episodes. Just right- thus the story wasn’t draggy and the focus was mainly on the lead couple. The funny parts were super hilarious, because of the body swap both leads had to experience each other’s lives- [SPOILER: imagine a guy in a girl’s body and she gets her period!! LMAO] Both actors also pulled it off well, although Jiang Yi’s character as male and female was a tad more interesting than Yu Sheng Sheng. I thought Steven Zhang did a great job, I also liked him in Skate Into Love. What really added to the comedy and to me was what made the whole drama fantastic- was the background music and sound effects! There was the “Jealousy” theme song, the Idol entrance theme music, the out-of-tune orchestral music plus many many more!! Trust me, you will love it!
As for the relationship development, it was very well done. Both parties were open, matured and honest with each other. [SPOILER: yes there was a break up scene, but it was justified and not like other dramas where I break up for your own good and hide the truth. END SPOILER] Chemistry and kissing scenes between leads also was great ;))) Another plus point for this drama- the supporting casts were a pleasure to watch as well. Most of the time, the leads are great but the supporting casts were given such annoying storylines and characters, it made it torturous to watch (e.g My Little Happiness and Love Scenery- both dramas I really liked but it was ruined because of SC)
When you watch the ending (last 8mins) then you will make sense of the first scene in Episode 1. Ummm other reviewers were not too happy with it, for me it was an “Ohhh... I see!” moment. Hmm if they didn’t have that epilogue, I would have been happier because it was a bit of a let down. Let fiction be fiction. Production and cinematography was great. Voices are not dubbed and the OST was good too. All in all, a very very good watch and a definite recommendation. :)

smooth ride of body-switching tragedy turn to wonderful love story of yi and sheng
If you are finding a drama that makes you smile all through, squelch, and experience butterflies? The day of becoming you is the perfect drama! I watched tdoby without a burden and did binge-watch it comfortably with on my time...The roller coaster ride of body-switching from a tragedy that became an opening to growing fond of each other is so smooth. With the earnest promising acting skills of Steven Zhang and Liang Jie, they gave justice to the body-swapping concept! Thumbs up! And the chemistry of these two is oozing... they make you want to fall in love aaa. It one of the best pairings I have seen in Chinese dramas! I can guarantee!
I like very process of everything! Watching the first few episodes are promising and, they fancy you to keep on following their love-story journey. The ending was kind of vague yet reasonably and they gave validity when, to quote, "One day in the life, you'd meet someone as if you've switched bodies with. You'll understand them, respect, you'll be fond each other". Proving— the body-switching is such a fantasy, but you can experience it when you find someone who can solely understand and be the other half of you! I dearly love this concept!
With such! IT GAVE ME SO MUCH LAUGHTER!

Love the leads!
I 100% watched this drama for the cast. I'm a mega fan of Liang Jie and I loved they used her own voice. I can listen to her all day. Her acting is adorable and she really owned up to this drama. I felt like she went out side of her usual character and to have her play as a male, was very awesome.I was a fan of Zhang Xin Cheng from Go ahead, but I felt like In the day of becoming you, he really showed he can be main lead character. I liked that he was masculine and his acting as a female was hilarious.
This is my first switching the body drama so to me it was really refreshing, funny and cute. The chemistry between the main leads is really good and that's probably because they are seasoned actors. Like the other reviewers stated, it has some steamy moments and very different from your shy typical C dramas.
If you are looking for a more modern C drama or love the actors like me, you won't be disappointed in this one.

Fun , Fast, Slow and Intriguing
Dramas with a bit of twisted romance including supernatural tricks always pique your mind. And it's the same with this drama
The plot is fascinating.
The acting is outstanding, brilliant!
The plot starts fun and fast but then gets so slow, the plot revolves round and round the same lame thing which kills the curiosity, and it feels like a drag.
And by the time it comes to an end, you lose your patience with all the melodrama and the biggest plot twist one could expect.
This is where I feel this drama should've been 16-18 episodes only and then it would've been perfect.
This is one of those rare plots where you can experiment with pretty much anything.
I can insert tragedy , mystery , action , Noir , supernatural , historical and this script would work flawlessly.
Too bad this didn't live up to it's full potential , but then again this drama do has a special place for being spectacular.
If I had to redo the script , I would remove the Idol part and make it as an actor instead .
It will work better.

While there are only 26 episodes to the series, there were parts of it that felt a bit dragged out to me. I ended up watching a lot of the drama on 2x speed so managed to finish it rather quickly. It's otherwise easy to watch and the acting is great, so would recommend on those points alone!

Best rom comedy chinese drama ever
So far I've been struggling to find a drama that catches my attention, 'cuz when I looking for a dramas I would like to get a great OST, acting, chemistry, kissess scenes, and not get bored in the middle of the story and SURPRISE this drama has everything, at the beginning of the 1st episode I was doubt a lot, because I really had an issue with Liang jie ahaha, I watch her in you are my destiny and didn't like her acting there, but this means that she really is an amazing actress, 'cuz in this was hilarious and sweet.Abt Steven at first sight for me it wasn't too handsome but he earnestly has something in his personality that caught my attention, I've never watched a Steven's drama, but with this I'm gonna follow his future projects.
Plot was wonderful, I really enjoyed every single episode is that type of serie that you cannot stop watching and I like that feeling hahah most of dramas always have something bad for me, few of them are in my top 5 and this definitely is part of it.
OST I'm impressed with it, seems the ost of someday or one day ahah for me was catchy.
Basically this is my first review I highly recommend you this drama, I got a good taste of mouth in the end. No love triangle, no unnecessary problems.

Fresh concept with versatile actors (MUST WATCH)
This is the first review I'm writing though I have watched many dramas. So please don't mind if there are any mistakes.1. Story : Overall storyline which revolves around body swapping is executed bery well. Body swapping scenes are absolutely hilarious. Main leads have great chemistry, their relationship development is not rushed and beautifully grown. Confession scene is one of the most mature and neat ones compared to what I've seen in other cdramas. Ending was appropriate.
2. Acting/ Cast: Steven has always been my favorite Chinese actor. His way of portraying character never fails to amuse me. He absolutely nailed this character along with female lead. Liang jie suited this role perfectly, her way of acting manly is little underappreciated but she really nailed her role. Both leads definitely brought justice to roles given.
3. Music : Something that goes really well with story line and helps in projecting emotions well.
Additional points : I personally want to see another drama with these actors, they really compliment and look good with each other. I hope many more cdramas can come up with these kind of fresh story. It is a must watch so go and watch it now.

A Relationship about Real couple and real humane characters!
What a sweet surprise this drama has been! I started this drama with almost no expectation at all. The intro seemed cliché the starting episodes too seemed following normal tropes. But as soon as I watched the ML , I realised that his character has much depth than meets the eye , esp when you see how casual he was at his own B'day party , has a meditation room etc. What I really liked?
The most striking feature of this drama is that it has no real villain! No toxic evil people , just normal people doing there job who sometimes becomes greedy / ambitious. It is truly a mature drama about sweet people , there is no unnecessary misunderstandings , no push & pull ,it just maintains to be sweet through and through , a perfect drama to watch at the end of a tiring day!
The drama although has a very simple plot but the plot is not its USP but its characters , their conversations, their philosophy. This drama provides you with the sweetest SFL (Tong Hua), Ideal parents (Sheng's parents), Lovely
ex , and Caring boss and Manager. And very good OST!
All in all this drama is boost of optimism.
The things that I didn't like?
This drama is generally very realistic in terms of emotional expression , thinking and decision making, But in terms of professional responsibility it tends towards more fiction. The FL rarely does any serious amount of work and the amount of holidays she takes is highly unsustainable. The fact that her BFF is also her colleague and also rich, is too good to be true. Same goes for our male lead , celebrities are generally very busy either writing their song or practising and after release they do tours and at off times they constantly shoot ads etc But he just stays home and does almost nothing.
Apart from these minor inconsistencies , this drama does not have any high note /any sort of climax , so some people who binge watch may feel it to be boring , too simple or not spicy enough.
This drama is not for binge watch but to savour slowly bit by bit.

My 3rd Cdrama and now my favorite one!
Okay, this was just my 3rd Cdrama but I am veryyy glad that I decide to pick this one up!What I love:
-The acting! Ugh, I can go on and on about how much I ADORE both main leads' acting! This is my first time watching their drama but they are amazing in this one that I now have a strong urge to watch their other dramas too soon. Their portrayal when switching bodies was perfect, and very believable! And that is also what made the comedy in this drama successful bcs you just will never get enough of their chaotic life while switching! Their level of acting is very top tier that I notice even their voice changed when they switched bodies, and they did it so smoothly too, like they both really made this drama as good as it is
-Their chemistry is amazing too, like their shift of relationship from not liking each others gut, to slowly trusting each other, to being friend and then lovers, I really just love how well their relationship was portrayed without any awkwardness in between of the changes
-Their transparency in relationship, honestly this was the bare minimum lol, but it is indeed rare to see the leads having as much trust and communication in drama, and this drama have that. I love how they both would address what one think the other are feeling uncomfortable about, and they just keep zero secret with each other, which leads to no silly misunderstanding or whatever
-All the other side characters are lovely! From Tong Hua, Le Yi, Jia Shu, Sheng Sheng's parents and even Da Chuan, i love how each of them are so caring and kind, especially Sheng Sheng's father, I love that man so much, he gives me so much warmness.
-The comedy is top tier! Although the comedy was toned down a lil since they got together, I still very much enjoy most of their humorous part especially from the early eps, the one in particular that I love is when Sheng Sheng cracked Jiang Yi's walnut lmao that scene was goldddd xD
What I dislike:
-I dont like Jiang Yi's father, but honestly, who does? Like hes just an a**hole who lives off his wealthy son lol hes so annoying too. I'm glad this drama didnt make Jiang Yi make amend with him bcs honestly he doesnt deserve anything from Jiang Yi
-This is something very minor, but I kinda dont like that one like pop music ig that was played several times during some comedy scene, like that sound was so loud and unfitting lol
-The endingggg!! Ugh seriously, I'm bitter about that! But after reading people's comments regarding Chinese censorship well then theres nothing they can do anyway, so I would just act like that ending didnt happen lol voila problem solved xD
Truth be told I wanted to put the pacing in the dislike part too, but I feel like it cant be help that once their relationship become more serious, then the comedy will be toned down. Because personally I prefer the first half wayyy better than the second half of this drama bcs of the lightness and humor that it has, but at least I'm glad the plot didnt get draggy with many unnecessary plotlines or misunderstanding, so I still really like how this drama turns out
9.2/10

A Body-Swap Romance That Turns Comedy Into Genuine Connection.
"The Day of Becoming You" is a refreshing and heartfelt romantic comedy that tells the story of Jiang Yi, a cold and reserved idol, and Yu Sheng Sheng, a warm and lively entertainment reporter. After a freak accident causes them to switch bodies, their lives-and their understanding of each other-are completely turned upside down. What starts as chaos and comedy slowly transforms into something deeper, as they begin to see beyond each other's surface and into the pain, pressure, and sincerity that both have been carrying alone. The drama strikes a beautiful balance between humor, emotion, and character growth.Jiang Yi is the kind of male lead who doesn't easily show emotions, especially at the beginning. As an idol used to being guarded, he struggles to express his feelings openly-but through the body switch, we get to see his heart in ways words could never revealed.
He begins to show love through small, thoughtful gestures, protectiveness, and quiet care. Once you understand the loneliness and pressure he hides behind his cold image, his silence makes sense-and his actions become even more meaningful. That's what makes him so lovable: he's not flashy or overly romantic, but every step he takes toward Sheng Sheng is genuine and full of feelings.
"The Day of Becoming You" shows that sometimes, love isn't about grand declarations-it's about understanding, patience, and quietly showing up for someone, even when words fall short.

9/11/2021 = 8.75 ratingI read many good things about this drama and I like Steven Zhang, so I decided to give it a try, even though I am not a big fan of body-swapping. I was so close to giving this drama a 9.0 rating, but held back because I feel conflicted about the last 2 episodes.
What I like:
1. Plot - I do agree that the body swapping was done pretty well, compared to "Secret Garden". I feel that there are just enough episodes about body-swapping in the first part of the drama to keep me interested and engaged, without dragging on for too long. I also appreciate that the swapping doesn't just end when they switched back. That would be too easily resolved and the whole plot will end and just fill with other side stories. This drama could have fallen into the trap of many common tropes, but instead, it makes fun of them.
2. Acting - I have been a fan of Steven Zhang (ML) and am glad to see him in a different role. The other roles that he's in are usually the happy, outgoing teenager/young adult role. He's a more mature, cool and introverted character here, and he did a great job in portraying that. Of course, he's super funny and in character when playing the "female" character. I've seen Liang Jie (FL) in "Eternal Love" and didn't like that drama at all. I dropped it and didn't like Liang Jie's character. I am glad to wipe that bad taste off my mouth and watch her in this drama. Just like Steven Zhang, she was great in her role. I think as a female playing the male part, audience might not notice her acting as much as Steven's male character playing a female role. But I like the subtle acting and facial expressions, just the more masculine mannerisms that she portrays.
3. Characters - I enjoy watching a drama with no real villains, though I don't like ML's dad. Most C-dramas portray villains in rom-coms to be too cartoonish and over-the-top for my taste. So I am glad we don't have such characters in this drama. Moreover, another pet peeve of mine is innocent/naive/dumb characters. I am also happy to see that almost everyone is pretty smart in their own ways and act their age . Even our leads who are having their first real relationship are acting age-appropriately, and not some 30-year virgins who are too shy to even hold hands. I appreciate a real adult romance. Moreover, we have cute and supportive parents like our female lead's parents, and a great BFF for our FL.
4. Romance - As I mentioned earlier, I appreciate a real adult romance. Once the leads are in a relationship, they are honest and communicative. They are not afraid to flirt or show affection for each other. I find their romance cute but not so sweet that is unbearable or cringey. Their romance is very heartwarming to me. FL is just ML needs to be able to overcome his bad childhood memories. I enjoy seeing such a great supportive relationship.
5. Clothing - For once, not only the male characters dress handsomely, but our female characters are dressed well. I like that the girls are casual at home, but dress nicely and appropriately when at work. I've seen too many overly baggy casual well that female characters wear in C-dramas. Even though this is not a drama about fashion, I am glad to see our leads have a great wardrobe.
6. Comedic moments - The sound effects do add to the comedic moments of the show. There are many funny moments, not only during the body-swapping plot, but sprinkled throughout the drama. I find these moments funny but not over-the-top or slapstick funny. It was quite funny when FL explained why she never gave the love letter to doctor.... that's quite creative and unpredictable.
What I don't Like:
1. Product Placement - I understand PP is a big part of Korean and Chinese dramas, and I accept that. But in this show, I am sick and tired of seeing those snacks. They advertise those snacks in every episode (at least it feels this way). It's a bit much. Also, do we need several characters to suddenly catch a cold to advertise the cold medicine?
2. Music - I like the songs OK, but they play the English song " I See You" a bit much. The worst is that the background music is so loud and makes it hard to listen to the dialog.
3. Ending - I have mixed feelings about the noble idiocy and the time jump. I understand why the leads have to break up and I see where the ML is coming from. I just wish there's a better way to show that. I really dislike the trope where the leads break up before the final episode, then a time jump in the final episode and they reunite and live happily ever after. We know they are going to break up, as it's hinted in the very first episode. I was also a little taken back that all this happened in a novel written by FL. For some reason, I expect her to quit being a reporter and become an author, and then write about her love story.
Want more:
I am interested to see more about Tong Hua and Pei Jia Shu's relationship. They have pretty good chemistry and I wanted to see them get together.
