My comfort show

I rarely watch something twice yet I have watched this show ten times and it's still so beautiful. The actors are so talented and the simplicity of the story give the sense of comfort we all need. The character of kang seo joon is the healthiest most sane guy character I've seen both in real life and shows. I can't wait for season 2 . You will definitely love this show. Kim kangmin and son woohyun definitely were the perfect cast for the drama and the director is the most talented in this genre.

Short and sweet BL series about grown-up characters for grown-up audience

I wasn't able to predict one or two plot turns (refreshing for BL) and this, among other things, made me fall in love with this short lighthearted series.

On the surface the plot seems somewhat predictable (this is BL after all): a bit spoiled, self-obsessed, but kind-hearted and easygoing famous actor has to cohabit for some time with an aloof, gloomy, strict young chef.

Likes:

Stars in the sky is a beautiful metaphor of the series. One of the main characters is charming, lively, decisive (no prolonged dragging of the story). Strong acting. No black-or-white characters, less typical supporting characters. Cuisine is one of the coolest areas of human expertise to watch (though I doubt any person employed in the culinary industry is in the habit of dealing with cuts in such a way.) No ubiquitous supporting couple.

Fun and lighthearted

While the storyline did feel like another retelling of a classic trope, the actors do a good job portraying it and making it believable. The romance was cute, the slow opening up to each other was enjoyable to watch, and overall I thought it was a nice, easy watch.

As with most Korean BLs, I feel like the short time frame doesn't allow for as much character development as I would like. Still, this show did what it could in the time that it had and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the development of the couple's relationship.

A simple sweet story

I feel like this show packs a lot in its short runtime. It's not exactly a enemies to lovers story, but the way the main characters start on the wrong foot and then slowly warm up to each other is nice. The chemistry between the main actors really makes his show work. Of the Viki BLs, I feel like To My Star is the one that looks the most like a movie, specially the first episode. I enjoyed the side characters and understand that they all had a purpose on the show.

I don't feel like the whole "mystery" with In Woo is anything at all, nor do I feel like Seo Joon's problem is explained enough for it to make sense. Does he have PTSD with loud noises? Is it connected with being abandoned by his parents? I also feel like learning anything about Ji Woo’s backstory would be helpful to understand him as a characters.

Something for bl lovers

I liked this drama but like a lot of people, I do agree that is way too short. I felt like I couldn't really care enough about what the characters were going through. Don't get me wrong the story is well written and the two actors Son Woo Hyun (Kang Seo Joon) and Kim Kang Min ( Han Ji woo) they were great and I could tell they are good actors and you can feel that they have great chemistry as a viewer, however, it feels rushed and that there should be more included. Episodes don't have to be long as a regular Kdrama, 30 minutes at least would have been enough time to flesh out the motivations of the characters and having the audience understand why a certain scene is happening and have a bigger impact on viewers emotions to feel for the characters. I would recommend watching it because it is cute and well-acted plus some scenes are just beautifully shot, but it had me feeling like there was more in each episode that was left out.

Compared to other Korean BL dramas, To My Star is my favorite one. From the Korean industry, i expected it to be good. And when i watched it, I was right. I had no regrets. Definitely rate this 100000/10. Just one slight complaint. It only has 9 episodes (i think) and duration of only 10-15 minutes. But aside from that, I love this. The plot, the actors, the music i love it all. I even recommended this to my friends and they said they're currently watching. And we really would appreciate it if we could have season 2. But of course, that's your choice, we don't want you to feel pressured or forced into making a script for season 2. Well, that's all. All I can say is I really really love this. And i personally think that the Korean drama industries should be more open and accepting about making Boy Love. This made me feel more single than I already was so thank you for that :)

Kang SeoJun has my heart

This is absolutely one of my favorite BL drama of all time. I didn’t know who Son Woo-Hyun before this drama but he has absolutely made me a big fan. The way he was able to emote different feelings was breathtaking, I actually believed he was in love with Kim Kang-Min in real life. When you know an actor did their job right, is when you forget what you are watching is actually scripted and not real life. And also when you absolutely hate/love a character that also shows that the actor/actress did their job perfectly. In this case Son Woo did his job to perfection. I have watched 3times already and will be watching many more times in the future
I loved the way he treated people. I hope he’s like he’s character in real life. Genuine, open and honest.

Great Korean BL

The Korean Bl scene is really lacking and this is one of the best ones that l have seen. The chemistry between the two leads was great and the storyline was mature with a surprising amount of depth. my only complaint is that some of the characters felt quite one dimensional but that's probably to do with the length of the episodes which were criminally way too short.
l am a sucker for the clingy vs cold/closed off relationship dynamic and l think this drama delivers that in a really nice way without being too annoying. l also love how the focus of the drama was on their relationship and the feasibility and reality of it instead of it being about the sex of the person they had chosen to fall in love with. Not every drama needs to address coming out and l appreciate this drama for focusing its main conflict elsewhere.
Overall it's a great watch that you can finish in one sitting and rewatch many times.

Grab Some Egg Kimbap, Sit Down, and Prepare to Sob & Squeal Your Heart Out, Fans!

As a lover of all things LGBTQ+ (and as a member of said community) this series contained some of the best components/scenes across the current Korean bl shows. Now one of my all time favorite bl dramas (Korean), To My Star gave soft, fluffy smiles (bless Seo Joon’s face), mouthwatering cooking shots (please cook for me Ji Woo), and *spoiler* some of the best kissing scenes that Korean bl dramas have to offer (as of 2021). I found both characters to be quite relatable although sometimes I felt Ji Woo’s sudden shout fits to be slightly misplaced, I just chalked it up to the strive for authenticity as a human being rather than a perfect love interest/main character. I continuously fell for the charms of Seo Joon and the growth of their relationship was the right mix of dramatically bitter and satisfyingly sweet. There were some questionable moments (still confused as to who that random english-speaking visitor who appeared at both Ji Woo’s residence and the restaurant) that managed to leave me concerned for the writers as it was unclear how each of these scenes would impact either the characters themselves or the plot as a whole. Overall, I’ve uncovered another comfort bl drama to rewatch as I naively deny the fact that my plan to watch list has grown astronomically since I made this account (not including the dramas not listed on this site). Can’t wait to see our boys again in season two (which is hopefully still coming!)

Cute but confusing towards the end

Needing to lay low after an incident that causes his popularity to decline, actor Kang Seo Joo is tasked to stay at the house of Han Ji Woo, a chef that works at a local restaurant. They first meet when Seo Joo has to go to the bathroom and decides to stop at a restaurant. He asks the young man to make him something quick and delicious but ends up not eating the dish because of the egg on top.

The two don't start out so well. Ji Woo is cold towards him which Seo Joo doesn't understand. He even mentions that he wants to get closer to him a few times. When someone throws rocks at the window, Ji Woo confronts him and gives him a glass of water. This marks a turning point for them. Seo Joo even starts working at the restaurant that Ji Woo is working at.

They play basketball which was just a funny and cute scene. For someone who is suppose to keep a low profile, he is not doing a good job of that. He keeps telling people who he is. The drunken kiss is another turning point in their relationship and the confession made my heart leap. It was sweet and sincere.

I knew there was something going on with Ji Soo boss. The restaurant wasn't doing well and I thought he may have been jealous of Seo Joo because of how close he was to Ji Woo. I am still confused about the tape that was the cause of Seo Joo hiding. There was something in it that showed he wasn't the one responsible for the fight. And I still don't understand what was going on with the boss of the café. I wish that were more easier to understand.

I did enjoy the other confession. 'If you are unable to, then I will come to you." Seo Joo states (not the direct quote but something along those lines). It shows that Seo Joo understands Ji Woo may not be able to say it, but he does care and is just pushing him away because he does not want to get hurt.

I do wish that we got to know more about Ji Woo and what events happened in his life to make me not get close to people and I am curious why loud noises affect Seo Joo. In the end, the two stay living together and Seo Joo signs on to do a movie.

I see there is a season 2 so I will be watching that soon.

great chemistry, captivating story, great balance of softness and horniness

This BL has it all. A soundtrack that slaps, amazing call-backs and parallels, a couple with great chemistry, a story filled with compassion, angst, fluff, a little spice, and three-dimensional characters. I am totally in love with it and have rewatched it countless times and can't wait for the second season.

Every good show has at least one memorable moment that stays with you even after you finish watching it. And honestly, this show had SEVERAL moments that all live rent-free in my head, and I am not complaining in the slightest.

It's one of the very few BLs that actually don't feel cut short or oddly rushed but still leave some room for more (like a second season ;)).
