The Prisoner of Beauty

折腰 ‧ Drama ‧ 2025

Nah, it wasn't. I have read smut.

 Isabella Snow:

novel was a smut. dark sexy male lead fantasy.

TBH I want to like the drama more (in general , I prefer dramas to their novel versions) but for some reason, book Wei Shao seems smarter than the show version, which is a bit frustrating. In the show, when he hears that Manman ran of with Liu Yan, he automatically assumes the worst and issues orders to have her killed on site. She could have died, but good thing he finds out in time that she helped him :/ Book Wei Shao is angry but asks her for an explanation.

Later, when they have that problem with the tampered box...show Wei Shao just loses it and tries to strangle her...whereas book Wei Shao is angry, but he has a certain inkling...then he goes to his mother's chambers and invents a lie about giving the box to Manman and already showing her how to open it. He lies and says that Manman already put her jewelry in the box and and that the jewelry was stolen...after lying, he starts to observe everyone's facial expressions and finally figures it out...this is before Manman shows him that she knows how to open the box. It's like he's more cunning and knows how to deal with people and tricksters better.

Wow, I'm just starting the novel and I realised that She is transmigrated from modern era to Fl's body and then she traveled back in FL's younger body? Drama didn't include this.

I get what you mean. But what I'm trying to say is that our choice of words could lead to misunderstandings.

Well he did force himself on her most of the time using the entitlement “HUSBAND”

Lol, He IS entitled.. Wdy even mean?

I also think that they made the romance a little too cliche and rosy in the drama…. I think the ML’s redemption and the development of the plot in the novel was more logical. I mean, why wouldn’t the FL leave? I feel that in the drama (and actually in the novel as well to some extent) they kinda failed to address how the FL feels. It’s partially because they toned down the whole ML’s character. But I actually thought the ML in the novel felt more like a real person, like with flaws and just like every human being. and it was perfect that there was a scene whereby she asked to leave, to go home because she was tired….. I think that is a natural human response…. The FL in the drama just became someone who is hopelessly in love with the ML although it was an arranged marriage? That’s super random. I don’t know, was kinda weird for me because I completed the novel way before the drama ended and I actually think the novel was more relatable.

A hard Disagree.. I'm almost at 100 chapter and they have been married for almost 2 years.. She lived with her now family after transmigration for 2 years only and whatever information she had about ML was indirect. One would question does she not watch her husband? Is dreams override her ability to see present? Where does such infatuation come for family but even up to chapter 100 she is yet to show any feelings for him at all? I kind of despise her.
