The Prisoner of Beauty

It is a costume detective suspense romance drama, set in the Wanli years of the Ming Dynasty, telling the story of the beautiful man County Ling Panyue and the terrorist servant Yang Caiwei in the process of solving a strange case, from mutual disgust to mutual love and love.

I don't know quite why, but when I think of these two, they seem somewhat similar in an intangible sort of way.... :)

Both dramas are very similar

-Both have VERY good chemistry

Both Kill My Sins and The Prisoner of Beauty share a lot of core themes that make them stand out: intelligent leads, political struggles, intense chemistry, trauma-driven motivations, and visually stunning costume drama aesthetics.

- Both feature Liu Yu Ning as the ML.
- In both the ML is ruthless and hostile in the beginning.
- In both the FL is treated as a prisoner at first.
- In both the FL is cunning and resilient.

Both dramas are chinese historical dramas coming from the same director "Deng Ke" and the same screenwriter "Nan Zhen".

Similarities:
- arranged marriage
- leads "don't like" each other at first, but grow closer over time (show their feelings better)
- couple works as a team together to get over obstacles
- clever and scheming FL and ML

Differences:
- chinese vs korean
- modern vs historical
- vibe

Overall the 2 dramas vibe is different, but I think the couple relationship and dynamics are quite similar. Both is a very good watch, they are worth to get into. (Also, I found both very binge worthy.)

The political intrigue is intriguing so much, many plot twists in both dramas, both female leads are smart and bold and a bit kunning.. The male leads in both are a kind of obsessed and yandere, the plot is well written and the set is similar as well as the cgi and the characters setting.

Both dramas tell the marriage life of leads so they both give slice of life vibe. While TPOB involve arranged marriage between enemies, TSOFML involve marriage between friends(?). Leads in the dramas are equally smart and the ML are good fighter

The same handsome male lead. They are both S+ drama. Great story, amazing cast, beautiful eyes catching costume and set.

- The FL and ML hate and distrust each other in the begining
- In Love and Crown FL is seeking revenge for what was done to her master
- In The Prisoner of Beauty ML is seeking revenge for what was done to his clan
- Both dramas are slow paced and you get to know characters gradually
- Lots of schemes and misunderstandings
- Strong and very intelligent FL
- Protective and emotionless ML that actually cares a lot

- King ML that's spoiled and aloof and very devoted to FL
- Tough as nails FL that are as scheming as ML (if not more)
- Angsty love story
- Palace and political intrigue (BH is more palace-intrigue while TPoB is more war-focused)
- Similar situations where one of the leads was screwed over by the family of the other.

Honestly... If you went into The Prisoner of Beauty and were disappointed by the bait-and-switch where it turned into a slapstick romcom, then definitely give Bloody Heart a try. BH really commits to the angsty romance and darker themes all throughout. It's also less draggy.

They are both based on rebirth novels where the female lead has to scheme her way out of the problems that happened in her first lifetime.
