Not fantastic drama but superheroes are here

Yes, we know they are Olympic medalists, but they are human too. They fight in almost every episode. Bad people beat them up very, very badly — but no, they never give up. They don’t need medicine; they just drink alcohol. They fight against more than 20 bad guys, but walked like a they just trekking.
It feels like a fantasy drama — no one ever dies.

Especially Dong Ju — please, act like a human, bro. You need to live if you want to catch bad people. Use your brain a little bit. You think you are immortal?? How long these people beat you.

And the bad guys… there are just too many of them, so it’s hard to focus on any one in particular. For example, the commissioner hides Min Ju-yeong, but no one ever questions him about it.
Are they living in another country or what? Ju-yeong doesn’t even have the same power he had in the beginning, but the commissioner still protects him. Shouldn’t they report someone?
The news is everywhere, yet no one from the government or the police shows up.

The acting is good. They really believe in the script. Especially Han Na — Kim So Hyun is very suitable for this role. She’s very charismatic. I think this is my second favorite role of hers. The first one is her role in School 2015. Bogum is also a very, very good actor. All the actors are talented, but the script is the problem.

And the other girl — I watched her for the first time, but I liked her. She is strong.
Another one of my favorite characters is Ahn Dae-young, the other team leader.
For the first 8 episodes, I kept expecting him to be a bad guy — but he wasn’t.
I really liked that, because it’s nice to see a genuinely good character who isn’t one of the main leads.

16 episodes is too long for this drama. They should have finished it in 14.

Waste of good actors

I think its too much for 16 episode, it can stop at 12 or 8 i feel like this drama is soo long for no reason. the plot just keep repeating and its so exhausting to see the overpowered villain team even tho the main villain is just a weak ass man. The protagonist is dying in every episode? 😭if its a real life he would die at the first place. idk why they must keep the 16 episode when its just all fighting scenee
im watching for park bogum and kim sohyun but its such a waste for them. 😞😞😞

I don’t think I’ve seen a show with such good production be nerfed by a script as badly as this

The first episode started out amazing and the premise seemed very entertaining, however everything went downhill from there as the story kept dragging on, especially in the second half of the show which was very hard to go through. I think this show’s saving grace were the action scenes which were very nicely choreographed and almost managed to mask the non-existent plot progression.
Also, Yoon Dong Ju should be given an award for managing to survive this long cause I swear that man was almost on his death bed every other episode and still managed to make it out alive.

What An Utter Disappointment!!

I have lost count of the number of times either of these two men got thrashed and still survived!

This show started with a punch, a group of Olympic athletes; once famous, but now fallen from grace. Each of them left their dreams behind for a certain reason and joined the police force to earn a steady income or to work for the people. The only problem is that no one takes them seriously, since they are special recruits. Also, the police force is mostly headed by shady & questionable individuals who are obviously in cohorts with our delightful villain who refuses to die, no matter how hard everyone tries. He is like an unconquered factor who keeps raising from the ashes, phoenix or not? Starring Park Bo Gum, Kim So Hyun, Lee Sang Yi, Heo Sung Tae, Tae Won Seok as the main leads, the show had a promising storyline; but too much violence & gore took away the meaningful impact, leaving behind a lackluster show that was disappointing!

God forgive these people on MDL, they don't know what they say...

Two months of anxiety, week after week. We had great romance, BADASS ACTION — like those ones keep you super tense — thrilling soundtracks, good visual effects, amazing acting and a super well written story with such good characters. PARK BO-GUM IS INSANE. Until Stranger Things 5 comes out, this will keep being the best 2025 show for me. Thanks JTBC for this masterpiece, what a great work!

Original and refreshing

I'm so shocked! It's been so so long since i’ve been hooked by a kdrama from the very beginning.
Everything about this drama is perfect.
The cast is incredible ✨
The fight scenes are really good, the good boy team worked hard to give us a masterpiece drama whose fights will be remembered…
The OST gives me goosebumps🦋🥰
And as a huge fan of Park Bo-gum, I am not disappointed so if you're hesitant, go for it, it’s definitely worth it.

I can’t wait to see the next episodes to learn more about their stories, their traumas, and follow the characters' development.

Not Just a Drama, But a Fight for Justice

Good Boy is truly a drama that stands out from the rest. The concept of former Olympic athletes becoming part of a special police task force is fresh and full of surprises. Each episode delivers a mix of thrilling action, perfectly timed humor, and touching emotional moments. The chemistry between Park Bo-gum and Kim So-hyun is undeniable, and the cinematography feels like watching a blockbuster movie. Although some parts of the plot move a little too fast towards the end, overall Good Boy is an exciting drama that’s perfect for a two-day marathon. More than just entertainment, it also carries powerful messages about courage, justice, and an unyielding fighting spirit.

The worst female lead actress I've seen in a while - actors perspective

The premise of the show is interesting, cinematography is good, and everyone is a great actor but this series is the first with such a bad female lead I signed up just to post a review.

The number of easy actions she had a stand-in stunt person? Wow.

Her face? only one emotion. Her character seems emotionally stunted - did the writers do this because they knew she wasn't going to pull it off anyway?

Perhaps she should lay off the surgeries and fillers. It's really obvious, and doesn't help her acting in any single way. Might even be the reason why her face doesn't move...hundred more female Korean actresses who would have acted better and actually fit the "million-dollar face" description.
Park Bo Gum and rest of the cast was the saving grace of this show, else I'd have quit it pretty early.

The director isn't blind when the fellow lead and support actors are doing so well and your female lead is doing so badly. The other actors aren't blind either, so no wonder there is no chemistry between the leads either. Why she still got lead role? Let you ponder on the industry behind-the-scenes shenanigans.

Scathing? Yes. But when you have a lead role, it's your job to do it justice, else this kind of review is what you're going to get.

Not my cup of tea

I think I am gonna drop this for now and maybe watch it in spare time in the background, at least English dub available, it’s easier for that. When I get to the point of watching with English dub while doing something else, it’s not a good sign

After the first 1-2 eps, I thought this could be interesting and I mostly liked it. But I honestly forced myself to watch after that. It is like the story is not clicking to me, it quite boring and I think 16 eps on only one case is not interesting to me. I don’t like much either the main characters and I am not into them. Maybe Kim Jong Hyeon is the character that interests me the most.

I don’t like to compare, but I think a concept like Flex x cop, with in the first half solving different cases every ep was more engaging. Like here we have everything related to one case for 16 eps… I don’t know

Also, could have passed on the cliche of ML having a crush on FL for years. There could have been a way more interesting way to add the romance than this… Should have made them meeting for the first time in ep 1 and the team in general.

I know it’s comedy, but this feel stupid at time and childish? I know ML has trauma and his behavior can be understandable, but I just don’t like him that much. Not my kind of ML

At least the action scenes are pretty good and I think acting is decent

Anyway, to be continued. *** or not, few weeks lager, I am definitely not finishing this👋

Bittersweet fight against crime and corruption

I have never watched a cooler and more exciting series that made me hate it as well as love it. I could go on a 5-paragraph rant, but I will keep it short.

"Goodboy" kept me zoned in with crazy action, but it constantly seemed like the script was written by a true veteran while executed with the imagination of a 10th grader. The main male lead was written with Wolverine in mind, while the female lead could only portray 2.5 facial expressions. Actually, as over the top as the male lead was, I thought he was cool... to a point.

I recommend "Goodboy" if you enjoy cool police action and investigation of corruption/organized crime. But also don't mind shutting your brain off from logic...constantly.

A refreshing, action/comedy (and romance!) packed summer ride

Good Boy is one of those K-dramas that delivers exactly what you didn’t know you needed: a quirky yet heartfelt team of ex olympians turned crime fighters, all brought to life with punchy direction, incredible action, and surprisingly tender character dynamics.

Let’s get the obvious out of the way: yes, the plot can feel a bit draggy at times. But with a standard 16 episode format, that’s almost expected, and honestly? It didn’t take away from the experience. The pacing may slow here and there, but the emotional payoffs and character growth make the journey worth it.

The relationships are really the beating heart of the show. Dong-ju’s charming romance with Ha-na, his bromance Kim Jung heong (the real enemies to lovers lol), or the father-son dynamic with Man-sik, these bonds give the show its warmth and depth. Even Dong-ju’s interactions with the antagonist added surprising layers and emotional tension.

And speaking of the antagonist, Min Ju-young, played masterfully by Oh Jung-se, was a true scene stealer. His character was written with nuance, never falling into typical villain clichés, and Oh Jung-se brought him to life with chilling elegance. Every time he appeared on screen, the tension spiked and his personal theme music (your name)? Absolute goosebumps.

The action scenes, absolutely unreal. They’re not just well-choreographed; they’re cinematic, gripping, and adrenaline fueled. Easily a 1000/10.

And the OST? A total masterpiece. Every track elevated the emotion and intensity of the scenes, i added nearly all of them to my playlist.

Special shoutout to the directing, Shim Na-yeon nailed the tone, every frame was a chef's kiss (expected from her knowing she directed bith beyond evil and the good bad mother)

All in all, Good Boy is a refreshing summer drama with just the right blend of comedy, action. It made me laugh, it made me cheer, and even cry lol. Definitely one of the standout K-dramas of 2025.
