Till episode 6, Good Boy is lowkey addictive. It starts with a bang—literally. A national-level boxer (Ji-hyuk) loses everything after a tragic event at the Olympics, and suddenly he’s part of this elite “Olympic Guard” team—basically a secret unit made up of medalists who now fight crime. Sounds wild, but it works.

Each episode builds the tension: the team handles shady VIP cases, Ji-hyuk struggles with trauma and guilt, and there’s a solid bromance slowly forming within the team. You get glimpses of corruption, hidden agendas, and how broken the system is behind all the medals and fame. By ep 6, the stakes feel personal—there’s a sense that someone from the inside is pulling strings, and the team’s loyalty is being tested. It’s action-heavy but with just enough emotion to keep it grounded. And honestly, the slow burn tension? Chef’s kiss.

It’s not just about fighting—it’s about broken people trying to find purpose again.

An Olympic Kick Start

A movie length episode 1 and I’m here for it. Solid 8 from me for now. Need to watch a bit more to get my head around some of the characters but great back stories so far and the comedy is fun! Soundtrack is looking hot too.

The trailer is here fyi:

All over the place disconnected

It is filmed in a rather chaotic and "cartoon-like" way, it is just .. to messy without a solid story line
do then the acting is also chaotic and frazzled and not "fun to watch"

Overall, it feels disconnected
have to write 300 characters but I already said what I had to say.
This drama is just a disconnected mess imo

Oh my Park Bogum

[I will note where spoilers start] As a long time Park Bogum fan, I was surprised that he had another main role so soon after When Life Gives You Tangerines, not to mention a role so different. I'm always a fan of a crime drama, and this one was no different - the action scenes were great, and while the story had some moments that were a bit too predictable, it was still super enjoyable. It may have had fewer surprising twists in the story than other crime shows, but the tense game of cat and mouse that the cops and villain were playing was so fun to watch! The romance was a huge plus, especially since it didn't ever take away from the main story (and the love triangle was actually done perfectly).

Yoon Dong-ju (Park Bogum) is a gold medalist boxer, who, after retiring, joined the special investigations unit of the police force along with other former athletes. However, they tend to get used more as public figures than crime fighters. When these group of former athletes start investigate a suspicious hit and run case, it leads them down a rabbit hole of crimes much, much worse.

**Spoilers start here**

I really enjoyed the way this drama built up from a seemingly simple hit and run case to a narcotic ring with international involvement. I thought that the villain's actor did an incredible job portraying him, and was super invested in the cat and mouse game between him and the special investigations unit. As I said, this show did have fewer dramatic twists than a lot of crime shows, but it still managed to keep the tension high throughout the show.

I also loved that we got plot and backstory from every main character. Learning bits and pieces about their time as athletes, why they had to leave, and where they're at now was super fun. I especially loved the relationship between Dongju and Jonghyun, and watching it go from rivals to friends over the course of the show. Of course, the romance between Dongju and Hanna was also wonderful, and super well paced for this kind of show.

Lastly, Dongju's plot really just hit the mark for me. The family problems, the issues with his best friend, and the medical issues he faces later on all worked so well for his character - even after going through hell, he'd come out with a smile on his face. A lot of people seem to be saying that they thought the plot dulled as the show went on, but I didn't find that to be true. If you like crime/cop dramas, I definitely think this one is worth watching!

Explosive start

Episode 1 was a great introduction. I love a good fight and they did not disappoint, loved seeing Park Bo Gum in this desheveled role. Everyone did amazingly on their role, top teir acting from everyone.

Watch if you enjoy an underdog story with a hard won victory, beautifully choreographed fight scenes from almost the entire cast, police corruption and a little bit of romance. The team really fights hard for this victory and I think its a satisfying victory.

It's a really enjoyable show, and an easy watch that doesn't require too much from the viewer, just sit back and enjoy. The fight scenes alone are worth it. Honorable mention the Korean-Russian gangster Ko Jun, amazing performance.

fantastic all round series it had it all!!

I honestly really loved pretty much everything about this series. It was just the right length and it had a bit of everything!

So I haven’t actually watched Park Bo Gum before not on purpose. I’ve just never come across their acting in a K drama that I’ve watched.. I can’t lie I was blown away their character Yun Dong Ju was just played so so well it was almost just perfect for them and it’s no surprise that I will be watching more dramas with this actor in!!

Yun Dong Ju and Han Na (played by Kim So Hyun) had such a soft buildup to the relationship you could see there was a past but it wasn’t heavy. It was just really easy-going and lighthearted.

However… there was a semi love triangle sort of thing going on which I think if it wasn’t Kim Jong Hyeon (played by Lee Sang Yi) I don’t know if I could’ve got on board with it as much the fact that they all just worked in the same department or same team it was insane! I also really like Lee Sang Yi so for him not to get the girl in this part was so sad and I think if it wasn’t such a good series and the two main main characters didn’t work so well then I would’ve wanted Han Na and Kim Jong Hyeon to get together!! But I also really loved the bromance between Kim Jong Hyeon and Yun Dong Ju!!

Min Ju Yeong played by Oh Jung Se .. wowwwww what an actor what a character it was just incredible every time you thought you’d figured him out you got a curveball!! I couldn’t quite tell at the end in the prison cell if that person had come in to kill him or if he was killing that person and then putting on the uniform and escaping? I think that character just had so many curve balls I just wasn’t sure if that was the final curveball.???

Another couple that I really wanted to make it to the end was Drugmon and Black Cat Leo?! it tore my heart to pieces when he got shot!! And she gave him her real name like tears!!! My heartttttt Lee Ho Jung and Ko Jun just looked so good together in this series their characters were so perfect for each other and I was really impressed!

Man Sik played by Heo Sung Tae and Jae Hong played by Tae Won Seok were the other two members of the Olympics policing team and I do think without them the team would’ve been severely unbalanced. They just brought the right amount of comedy and softness to the group. Their characters were a bit softer but still lovable.

I did not like when the noodle restaurant owner told Yun Dong Ju to stop coming round like what did he do? I get it but it was so upsetting and then to just to turn around after a near death experiencing go I’m sorry you’re like a son to me. It’s like hello?! he was always there!! Glad for the happy ending but still annoyed hahaha

They were so so many guest rolls and stars in the series that were like in and out it was so incredible just to see them all. I can’t name everybody my reviews already gonna be really long but every single guest role was noted and every guest role was perfect!!

I will say that points when Yun Dong Ju and Han Na were kissing there was no OST ..? it was just the sound of lips kissing and I’ve never heard that before. It was a bit odd for me not here to judge. It was obviously a part of the script but I think I’m just so used to the normal K drama OST kicking in so for me it wasn’t great. However the OST‘s I am obsessed with this series!!

I also liked on the last episode. You got a look into the behind-the-scenes and the outtakes which was really funny!!

I really really did enjoy this drama and I’m so glad I watched it live as well because that just added to the anticipation of when the next episode was gonna come out and I would say if you’re looking for a little bit of closed door romance a lot of action mystery a bit of crime scene murder mystery this is definitely the drama for you!

Started good then went into the trash can

I have to say the beginning was actually very promising. The characters were neatly introduced and well that was about it.

The humor in this is not funny and I wouldnt even call it humor. This type of humor speaks to the child part of your brain in the hopes of getting a giggle out of you when someone makes a weird face or falls. But even if I turn my brain off there is literally not a single actually funny scene in these two episodes.

The characters as they are, are interesting but the story setting is far beyond dumb that it hurts my brain.
Its basically just people yelling at each other and doing dumb shit for the entire two episodes.

Also the police barging in or in general beating the crap out of people even if they are the bad guys does not result in a promotion or anything of the kind. It ends with suspension until the case has been investigated.

They tried to film the fight scenes in a cool but also funny way but I have to say that wasnt it.....
Except the female character - hers was normal - no slapstick whatsoever. I guess that has soemthing to do with the female director - feminist blablablubb stuff

Writers and directors these days definitely dont give a shit anymore with these ridiculous and bad stories. They are just hoping that the cast has enough star power to carry the show.

Is this high budget drama Hit or miss? miss.

Stopped watching after episode 1. Had to skip many parts, personally thought that it was slightly too serious for my likings so I tried finding interesting moments, but really it was a waste of time from start to end. I thought it would be similar to "study group", but all we got is one protagonist and the rest of the actors who get a few camera moments here and there. It definitely had a lot of high expectations not only from the actors but the synopsis of the story as well.

A Hero Without the Ego — And That’s What Makes “Good Boy” So Refreshing

Good Boy” is a stylish, well-paced production — a true Korean-style blockbuster. The action scenes are well shot, everything looks dynamic and powerful. Definitely a high-level production.

And Park Bo-gum’s performance? 🔥💣🥇
He completely transforms into an action hero while keeping that refreshing vibe — smoothly switching between fight scenes, comedy, and romance.
You know what’s new in action dramas like this? The hero doesn’t show off! And that’s seriously refreshing.
His character feels very close to his real-life personality — but at the same time, totally opposite… That contrast makes the role feel alive and fascinating.

Kim So-hyun is also excellent — very convincing. Lee Sang-yi adds a great energy to the team. Overall, the cast is top-tier.

The music is beautiful too — tasteful, polished.

As for the plot, it develops slowly. But it seems like this isn’t a story driven by twists — it’s more about the characters and visual style. A drama that focuses on moments and personality rather than suspense.

Park Bo-gum often chooses projects with heart, even if they’re risky or he’s not the clear solo lead.
Here, I feel like it’s something in between — a mix of commercial solo lead, multistar setup, and that arty touch he truly loves.
I think his screen presence will definitely be strong.

Park Bo Gum shines in this action role!!!

After watching the first four episodes, the versatility that Park Bo Gum has portrayed in his acting is exemplary. I am in awe to see him in this action-packed role in Good Boy with his hardened gaze, unlike the ones filled with his doe-like, love-filled eyes. No doubt he is the prince of romantic dramas, but his performance in this action series is a brilliant display of his talent. The stark contrast that his character, Yoon Dong Ju, conveyed while punching the hell out of the bad guys and the way he is totally whipped for Ji Han Na, is one of the many Maeryok (charming) points of Park Bo Gum in this series.

The variety and growth he has shown in his recent drama picks like When Life gives you tangerines and Good Boy, have filled my heart with immense satisfaction and pride. I remember in Record of Youth, one of his previous dramas, particularly at the ending of episode 4, a scene of him as a villain and beating up the guys. I was amazed to see the change in his expression (from all smiles to badass villain) and the way he handled that scene was flawless and very impactful. I wanted to see him more in such a character (something intense and fierce). This series actually fulfills it and even exceeds it. I hope the story line remains as strong as it is now. I loved the other characters too. However, this review is only for Park Bo Gum. Couldn’t resist writing it!

Action scenes with awesome soundtrack.

Ep. 1 takes quite a while to talk about all the main cast members but ultimately, the whole story comes together. Ending with an intense fight scene involving all the characters. Ep. 2 I laughed too much and overlooked the investigation and it ended. I need to go back and watch it again. the ending of episode 2 is also exciting.
