Love this period rom-com
It was ok on the first watch but appreciated it more on rewatching. It's a simple main storyline, with a non-toxic leading relationship, great romance and comedy, great acting and chemistry, that pulls you into their love story and rooting for them. It doesn't have any CGI FX scenes to dazzle the viewers and may seem boring if you're looking for that. This drama falls all on the actors to carry the scenes - shows the director and actor's skills. The only annoying thing is the music/songs, played way too loud, sometimes even over the actor's thinking or voices - I had to mute to continue watching - the music ruined all those special moments.Was this review helpful to you?

This is a nice drama with a steadfast romance but the lukewarm romantic chemistry of the leading couple and the “star-crossed lovers” and “for your sake” separation tropes waned the intimate vibe between them. The cast did well delivering their characters but the plot threw some unnecessary evil doers for the sake of unrequited love that felt fake and disconnected. The best moments for the leading actors to shine were the dramatic ones; they did great and brought heart tugging moments to the drama but, overall, the drama didn’t deliver a great romance. A spoiler-free review of Romance of a Twin Flower
Overall, the story is interesting enough to keep you watching, though it isn't always delivered perfectly. 🤨 At times, the plot lacked logic or felt slightly incomplete. The visuals lean more toward those of a lower-budget drama, but they were sufficient for my taste and didn't detract from the experience. While some of the supporting performances felt unconvincing or weak, I actually grew to love the music and the atmosphere of the show quite a bit! 🤗Ultimately, my main—and honestly only—reason for watching was Ding Yuxi (the male lead). As always, he absolutely shone in his role and made the entire journey worth it! 🌟👏❤️
Note: I tried to give a fair rating for acting, but my heart didn't allow to give it lower because of Ding Yuxi.

Came for Han Shou, stayed for Ning Yuxuan!
Since there are already great and detailed Reviews by better Reviewers than me, I will try and keep it short and focus on some of the strengths that enabled me to watch this to the End.As my Title suggests, I discovered the male Lead in Romance of Tiger and Rose and found him so convincing that I decided to check his other Dramas as well. I have watched a couple but dropped them halfway through, only this one I watched to the End and Boy was I rewarded for it.
To spoil it right away, the acting ability of Ding Yu Xi blew me away but more on that later.
The Story is alright. It has some glaring flaws and plot holes that really push the boundaries but it does get countered by the positive Elements. It does have its moments though.
The female lead was at first annoying (especially her voice) but strangely enough, she grew on me and I even liked her at the end. This can be a personal issue though, since I got so used to the insane chemistry between Yu Xi and Lusi in Tiger and Rose, she had quite a high hill to climb.
The supporting roles are overall great. Guo Bai is simply on another level. He does such a good job portraying the "Shadow Guard", tossing in the occasional "comic relief" moments and provide a side Romance that rivals the mains. His romantic partner is also not to be underestimated. She is beautiful (yes more beautiful than female lead imo) and her overall calm but lovely attitude complements Guo Bai perfectly. Overall the cast left nothing to be desired.
Now lets dive in to the main Event, the Boss, the phenomenal, outstanding, brilliant Ding Yu Xi. What an Actor.
In the End, when he seemingly loses his love interest, Yu Xi delivers such a stunningly real scene of utter despair and pain over the loss of his beloved that I basically got Flashbacks watching it. Since I went through something similar (not quite that dramatic but still painful) it was hard for me to watch and even jerked out a tear but boy was I amazed at his delivery. Ding Yu Xi is a talented Actor and he surely can act comedy just as well as tragedy. Looking forward to see more from him. Needless to say, he was one of the main reasons to watch this Drama.
I know this ended up more a "love letter" to Yu Xi than a real Review but I think this talented Actor deserves it.
Conclusion: I enjoyed this Drama Series despite its flaws and would watch it again if time permits.

What a surprise!
Found this gem while looking for some historical romance drama. I was hooked from beginning to end. The acting overall is superb!Love the chemistry between the leads, it’s all so natural, even though it is the first time I saw the female lead in a drama. I have seen the male lead before in another drama and I find him super cute and his acting is excellent for someone so young.
The storyline is great. Every single scene makes sense and fits perfectly to the whole story.
Love it overall and I highly recommend you to watch it!

Kisses lacked any feeling
Some very clever writing here and delicious characters. Only a few brief lip-touch kisses with no passion or energy which is really disappointing when the rest of the tension is handled so well.That said, I binged it in two days because they keep you waiting for those last few episodes to resolve the drama. I hate storylines where all the conflict is sorted too soon and the rest is just writers treading water to the final episode. If kisses had been more passionate (and more of them!) this would’ve been a 10/10 for me.

Beautiful and Enjoyable Love Story
I really enjoyed watching it. I was smiling, giggling and all. mainly ML is really cute, his acting is superb, and his love for her is genuine, In many scenes, I felt like pinching his cheeks LOL.. FL is also nice I liked her character. everything was good, but after 19-20 episodes felt like this didn't need to have 38 episodes because the story is not that complicated. it's just that the characters don't know the conspiracies and who did what but as the audience watching it we already know most of the stuff and we just wait for the characters to know the truth.There are many chances where they could have avoided/stopped their enemy from doing stuff but they just don't do anything at that time giving them the chance to do more nasty things. for example, Wen Wan, ML always knew what she did (in the beginning) stuff like stabbing herself and blaming it on Ji Man or flogging ji man and her other conspiracies. but as expected ML and FL will forgive and forget whatever these people do very easily.
Anyway, overall it was a really good, enjoyable drama but didn't really need 38 episodes. after 19 episodes even if u skip 15-20 minutes in btw episodes you wont really miss anything. just story gets dragged till 38 episodes.

Pretty solid romance, light on plot
I really liked this drama. I didn't like the previous drama I saw Ryan Ding/Ding Yu Xi in (The Romance of Tiger and Rose - which, to be fair, was less to do with his acting and more to do with his character and the whole non-consent threat they wrote in at one point, and also because I am one of those people who happen to find Zhao Lusi annoying in most things I see her in), so it was really nice to wholeheartedly like him in something this time. I thought he did very well here and this has happily replaced my impression of him from the last abovementioned drama, and I'll be interested to see what he might be in next.I don't think I'd seen Peng Xiao Ran in anything before, but I thought she did fine in this drama. You could tell Nie Sangyu from Ji Man very well, and she was very earnest in this role. The costuming choice for her was interesting because this was the first female lead I noticed as pretty pared-down in that aspect - at a look, her dresses aren't very fancy, and her hair is also relatively simple compared to most other female leads, with just the one decorative headband or headpiece on a low half-updo, and no earrings. I later realised that this single crown-piece on half-loose hair/no earrings combo is also how Qing Kui is styled in The Starry Love, but which I honestly didn't notice at all there in that drama; but was very aware of here as it came across to me as a little plain. It likely has something to do with the lower height of the overall up-do combined with the usually open-work headpiece, which honestly looks like/is a decorative open metal headband with chains added onto the side corners, or sometimes even no headpiece at all in lieu of a few small decorative elements on what looks like a braid headband.
The leads play very well off each other, and I really enjoyed watching them together. I also genuinely cared about them as a couple and Ding Yuxi's acting as Ning Yu Xuan particularly shines in the sad and emotional scenes. The supporting roles and cast were all very good across the board and I have nothing to say other than thumbs up for the solid acting from all. Of the supporting characters, Gui Bai was my personal favourite, along with Miss Shui/Shui Niang Zi (whom I thought was stunning here) and their relationship, and getting to watch him smile for the first time was a treat. Ji Man's two maids, Mu Xu and Sang Ren, also get special mention for being very good in their roles.
The story was fine, with no major plot holes. It was simple and frankly not particularly memorable, but mainly serves as a vehicle for the romance, which it does well at. I liked the Emperor in this as a wise and steady emperor, which is what I remember most about the story, and I also liked Ji Man's father. The story drops off somewhat at the end, though not to the point of ruining things, but doesn't recover to the quality before. The ending likewise loses some points from me as it fell a little flat for me/in my opinion, and felt slightly anti-climactic - think the long tail of a graph, which sums up the ending/last couple of episodes.
The music was good and emotionally-hooking, and was used well to add emotionality to scenes. (Will give the OST a listen again later and possibly come back with an update.)
It's not a particularly short watch at 38 episodes clocking in at 45 minutes each, but it's not a terribly long drama, either. Pretty rewatchable, especially if you like Ding Yuxi, or just for the romance itself.
If you're looking for a light-watch romance and aren't too bothered about plot, this drama will serve you well. All in all, it is and does what it says on the tin.

Nothing has to watch ,the go for it
The story revolves around twin sisters who were separated due to a family accident. They grew up in different families and environments. One sister lived as a princess and eventually developed an arrogant, rude, and unkind behavior. The other sister lived near the harbor and developed a benevolent attitude. The princess, because of her stubborn nature, forcefully married Ning Yu Xuan. Unfortunately, she was wrongly accused of attempting to murder her husband's concubine. To protect herself, she ran away and, feeling hopeless, jumped into the river to commit suicide. Somehow, her twin, Ji Man, saved her from the river and brought her to Ning Yu Xuan's house. As Ji Man was a twin, everyone mistook her for the princess. Since Ji Man lost her memory, she also believed she was the princess. This is how the story began.I liked the chemistry between the leads. There were also two other couples whose stories were likable. I appreciated the acting of Wen Wan, who perfectly portrayed the character of the villain. She gave a strong performance. Really excellent
An eye-catching plot thanks to the FL's strong personality & the hate-love with the ML.Following a drowning accident, the FL loses her memory. She was saved by her supposed husband's bodyguard. Th Ml who is the Emperor's favorite high-ranking nobleman. However, the ML's wife was a violent harpy, hated by all. Over the course of various adventures and setbacks, the ML gradually realizes (spoiler) that the FL is not actua his wife.
=> Great great actors (even the support actors). Ding Yu Xi and Peng Xiao Ran show here the extent of their talent, they are truly remarkable!!
=> intense OTPs
=> production without downtime, the cinematography is magnificent and the framing well done.
=> the story is complex (suspense, puzzles) but written with intelligence
However, not everything is perfect:
- some characters are boring: Wen Wan the obsessive and sneaky love rival, Sang Ren the silly and talkative boat servant,
- expected and respected structural codes with a hyper emotional penultimate episode, which suggests a sad ending, but fortunately, there is the final twist which allows a happy ending :)
I will probably watch this series again, of which I enjoyed every moment, for its magnificent images and the 2 lead's talent.

Plot accrocheur par la personnalité de la FL (strong) & le hate-love avec le ML.
A la suite d'une noyade la FL perd la mémoire. Elle a été sauvée par le bodyguard de son supposé mari, le ML, noble haut-placé favori de l'empereur. Cependant, la femme du ML était une harpie violente, détestée de tous. Au fil des aventures et déboires divers, le ML s'aperçoit peu à peu que la FL n'est pas sa femme.
=> Great great actors (mm les support actors). Ding Yu Xi et Peng Xiao Ran montrent ici l'ampleur de leur talent, ils sont vraiment remarquables !!
=> intenses OTP
=> réalisation sans temps mort, les images sont magnifiques et le cadrage bien travaillé
=> histoire complexe (suspens, énigmes) mais écrite avec intelligence
Cependant, tout n'est pas parfait :
- quelques personnages sont ennuyeux : Wen Wan la rivale amoureuse obsessionnelle et sournoise, Sang Ren la servante du bateau idiote et bavarde,
- codes de structure attendus et respectés avec un avant-dernier épisode hyper émotionnel, qui laisse supposer une sad ending, mais heureusement, il y a le twist final qui permet une happy end :)
Je regarderai sans doute à nouveau cette série, dont j'ai apprécié chaque instant, pour ses magnifiques images et le talent des 2 leads.

Meh ending
The acting and the chemistry between the 2 main leads was 10/10. They did such a good job, if you are going to watch this then it should be because of that.The plot was also good, slightly convoluted and confusing but I kind of expected that as this is a Chinese historical drama.
The side couples: trash. They were boring and uninteresting. Added nothing to the story and was a waste of time , although I did love the girl squad, they were really cute.
Now the ending was so meh! Like firstly their reunion was SO anti climatic I wanted it to be more eventful especially considering he's been looking for her for a year. Secondly, when they are granted their marriage by the emperor I just found it so cringy and literally skipped right through it.
Overall, it was a good drama and I would recommend it but there's definitely better Chinese historical dramas out there.

Watch this shortly after I watch Love of Replica, and due to my personal problem I even watch it together for some first few episode. Found the story quite similar, where the the same face girl take another girl place & later we find out that they are turn out to be twin. But with more episode we go through, turn out the 2 drama not really similar story.This drama tells a story about a girl name Nie Sang Yu (SY) that fall from the cliff & lost her memory, she is a wife of the marquis Ning, Ning Yu Xuan (YX). As the summary told us, SY is a woman with a reputation for treachery, scheming, and evil, but this new awake woman has completely different character from the description woman, she is cheerful & kind hearted woman. But because of the amnesia, everyone keep believe she is the same girl. And later on we find out that she is completely different woman, named Ji Man (JM) that turn out to be SY twin.
What I love about this drama:
+ The chemistry between Ding Yu Xi & Peng Xiao Ran. Although Ding Yu Xi wardrobe, hair style & character kinda remind me of his other character in The Romance of Tiger and Rose, especially the hair style.
+ The funny story of Gui Bai (GB) & Shui Niang Zi. Although also a little frustrated by stubbornness of GB, but yeah it's still kinda understandable.
+ The noble character of Yuan Lang. He is one man that never avoid his fault & finally that this very character that finally bring peace to JM & YX.
What I don't too like about this drama:
- The classic stupidity of the opponent, in here I mean Ling Jian Xing.
- The usual greedy of another family of the emperor, Prince Tan. Nothing much, just kinda boring with this plot.
- The too easy situation of ML. YX as usual ML, get all the trust from emperor & everything seem easy for him.
Overall this drama has nothing new or old to offer, but still quite good to watch.
