Really excellent

An eye-catching plot thanks to the FL's strong personality & the hate-love with the ML.

Following a drowning accident, the FL loses her memory. She was saved by her supposed husband's bodyguard. Th Ml who is the Emperor's favorite high-ranking nobleman. However, the ML's wife was a violent harpy, hated by all. Over the course of various adventures and setbacks, the ML gradually realizes (spoiler) that the FL is not actua his wife.

=> Great great actors (even the support actors). Ding Yu Xi and Peng Xiao Ran show here the extent of their talent, they are truly remarkable!!
=> intense OTPs
=> production without downtime, the cinematography is magnificent and the framing well done.
=> the story is complex (suspense, puzzles) but written with intelligence

However, not everything is perfect:
- some characters are boring: Wen Wan the obsessive and sneaky love rival, Sang Ren the silly and talkative boat servant,
- expected and respected structural codes with a hyper emotional penultimate episode, which suggests a sad ending, but fortunately, there is the final twist which allows a happy ending :)

I will probably watch this series again, of which I enjoyed every moment, for its magnificent images and the 2 lead's talent.

EXCELLENT !

=> Great great actors (mm les support actors). Ding Yu Xi et Peng Xiao Ran montrent ici l'ampleur de leur talent, ils sont vraiment remarquables !!
=> intenses OTP

Watch this shortly after I watch Love of Replica, and due to my personal problem I even watch it together for some first few episode. Found the story quite similar, where the the same face girl take another girl place & later we find out that they are turn out to be twin. But with more episode we go through, turn out the 2 drama not really similar story.

This drama tells a story about a girl name Nie Sang Yu (SY) that fall from the cliff & lost her memory, she is a wife of the marquis Ning, Ning Yu Xuan (YX). As the summary told us, SY is a woman with a reputation for treachery, scheming, and evil, but this new awake woman has completely different character from the description woman, she is cheerful & kind hearted woman. But because of the amnesia, everyone keep believe she is the same girl. And later on we find out that she is completely different woman, named Ji Man (JM) that turn out to be SY twin.

What I love about this drama:
+ The chemistry between Ding Yu Xi & Peng Xiao Ran. Although Ding Yu Xi wardrobe, hair style & character kinda remind me of his other character in The Romance of Tiger and Rose, especially the hair style.
+ The funny story of Gui Bai (GB) & Shui Niang Zi. Although also a little frustrated by stubbornness of GB, but yeah it's still kinda understandable.
+ The noble character of Yuan Lang. He is one man that never avoid his fault & finally that this very character that finally bring peace to JM & YX.

What I don't too like about this drama:
- The classic stupidity of the opponent, in here I mean Ling Jian Xing.
- The usual greedy of another family of the emperor, Prince Tan. Nothing much, just kinda boring with this plot.
- The too easy situation of ML. YX as usual ML, get all the trust from emperor & everything seem easy for him.

Overall this drama has nothing new or old to offer, but still quite good to watch.

2 reason why I watched this drama:

1. I'm a fan of the original novel the Dreamer in the Spring Boudoir
2. I liked the main leads from their previous projects. *Peng Xioa Ran from Goodbye, Princess and Jun Jiu Ling
*Ding Yu Xi from The Romance of Tiger and Rose and Intense Love

However, I got disappointed. The plot in the drama was entirely different from the novel. I know it can't really be exactly the same as the original novel has a transmigration plotline BUT this was 99.9% different, only the characters' names are the same.

If you've read the novel, don't watch. If you have not read the novel, then you could probably watch to pass time. Though still, don't expect too much. I barely hang on because of the main leads. Their acting was not bad but the plot and the script dragged them down.

Typical C-drama about a twin sister and her frog prince

I endured the show until the last episode so that I can write a review objectively. I don't like ML both appearance and personality wise.

The opening scene started with ML chasing his wife and forced her to jump off the cliff. Later, he had his bodyguard fetched her from the lake. The woman he brought back was the wife's twin sister. She lost her memories after drowning..

ML was a high-ranking officer known for his beauty and righteousness. I cannot force myself to believe he was the most handsome man in the land. I mean the actor doesn't live up to the title.

His wife, the older twin sister, was devoted to him and her love turned into jealousy, obsession, and hatred. She was impulsive and vicious (an excuse to kill her off the screen without pitying her). ML purposely shamed her in front of the crowds by letting her married a rooster. I couldn't find myself to even like him even one bit.

ML married a mistress with the most stupid reason. He held a ceremony and attended it unlike when it was his wife's wedding ceremony. This made me hate the ML even more.

After the twin sister woke up, he forced her to sign a confession letter for attempting murder of his mistress. He hadn't finished investigating the incident but already decided that his wife was the culprit. After his bodyguard came back with the evidences, he learnt that his mistress stabbed herself. He didn't even try to clear his wife's name and just brushed it off as a trivial thing. What a prick.

Fl supposed to be the total opposite of her twin sister. She was kind, generous, intelligent, and cheerful. The plot was inconsistent making her an idiot rather than a smart woman. The most annoying about FL and ML were self-pity. They acted like they were wrong and felt bad for the late twin sister but they didn't even hold a proper burial for her nor go to her grave and ask for forgiveness (ML). FL didn't care about ML was her brother in law. She just desired him like the rest of the women in the land.

Meh ending

The acting and the chemistry between the 2 main leads was 10/10. They did such a good job, if you are going to watch this then it should be because of that.

The plot was also good, slightly convoluted and confusing but I kind of expected that as this is a Chinese historical drama.

The side couples: trash. They were boring and uninteresting. Added nothing to the story and was a waste of time , although I did love the girl squad, they were really cute.

Now the ending was so meh! Like firstly their reunion was SO anti climatic I wanted it to be more eventful especially considering he's been looking for her for a year. Secondly, when they are granted their marriage by the emperor I just found it so cringy and literally skipped right through it.

Overall, it was a good drama and I would recommend it but there's definitely better Chinese historical dramas out there.

Cute and funny

This is a cute series. Contains great acting but storyline could be a little better.

Pros: Great acting. Strong, playful and resourceful FL. You can really connect with her and I appreciate how she’s playful, but when needed, she’s strong and resourceful. This is what good acting on FL can do to not annoy you with those childish pouting and whining. ML was great, I’ve seen him one other series and think he’s a good actor. Chemistry between them was good and the can bring out the emotion that makes you laugh and cry for them. I also enjoy the development of their relationship from hating each other to a mutual love and appreciation for one another. I actually dropped Love You Seven Times and picked up this series and I’m glad I did.

Cons: I think the storyline could have been better at some part. Other thing I didn’t like is too much makeup on several scenes where the men looks like they are wearing lipstick.

Music: Thought it was good and enjoyable.

Overall: This is a nice funny series which I’m surprised got low rating. If you are tried of the overacting of pouting to make a FL character look cute, then try this series because FL is playful and funny, but also strong and resourceful.

Good/Evil twin; Amnesia; First Love; and many more tropes await you....enjoy

This was quite engaging through the first three episodes but then it lost me once the FL's character started acting like an idiot. In addition, the dialogue and plot lacked depth. The writers really dropped the ball on this because even with all the tropes being crammed into the series, it still had so much potential if only the characters didn't keep making illogical decisions. I've finished 20 episodes which I believe is the best I can do. Tapping out.

SLOW. need beer script writers

One of my favorite male leads. Was really disappointed in this story. It was very slow and could have been less episodes to get the point across.

Early on the Male leads knew one of his wives was trouble but never followed up and had someone keep an eye on her. Then later he seems to have forgotten all about her evil side.

The female lead drives me nuts with her impulsive behavior and stupid decisions. she is like a child.

The story line stagnates for several episodes and at episode 20 still waiting for it to pick up and make sense.

The person who did the captions needs to go back and review. there has to be a more realistic word other than “piss off” for that era that makes sense in today’s language. it just jars you when reading it as it doesn’t fit

It's surprising that the rate isn't higher

To be honest I started this drama because of the main leads. Indeed I love Ding Yuxi and Peng Xiao Ran so I was curious to see how they would be together and I wasn't disappointed at all !!

The story :
I agree that the plot is a bit far-fetched but once you accepted it you just enjoy it. It may be simple but it's enjoyeable because it's coherent and logical. So if you expect heavy plot and intrigue you will be disappointed.
The story left me with questions and those questions rope the me in because I wanted answers. At first I thought there were plot holes but those same plot holes explained slowly throughout the drama in a way that ties up everything neatly by the story’s end so it was very satisfying. I discovered that the drama is full of foreshadowing. In fact, despite being a light romantic comedy, it has some of the best foreshadowing that I have seen in years. This works with the characters as well, the setup of some characters early in the drama leads to a big twists in the last third of the drama. The details are also fun, some like calla lilies being poisonous or horse dung containing antibacterial fungi are weird bits of trivia that are used in a hilarious way, I was literally rolling on the floor lmao
The drama keeps the essence of the story and characters. We see the main leads growing together as a loving couple while keeping their essence. Ji Man keeps her tenacious spirit and Ning Yuxuan transforms into a lovesick husband but retains his sense of conflict between honour and love. The sisterhood storyline is really great, I loved the bond between Ji Man, Miss Shui, Lian Xue and the maids of the FL.

Acting/Cast :
The leads Peng Xiao Ran and Ding Yuxi are great as I expected. Peng Xiao Ran is stunning and Ding Yuxi is very handsome as usual. They can both act very well, there are no scenes where one actor ruins the scene because of bad acting. The characters they portray, Ji Man and Ning Yuxuan respectively , both have a clear sense of growth by the end. Their chemistry is also amazing, this couple have moments that can be rewatched several times as they are very sweet. I also think that Ding Yuxi has again improved his acting since the last time I saw him in The Romance of Tiger and Rose, his micro-expressions are better than ever.
Another highlight is that all of the main characters undergo growth wich is really enjoyeable : Ji Man and Ning Yuxuan go from enemies to lovers, but in a way that really feels natural, like a young couple going into a serious and mature relationship where they support and love each other. Gui Bai finally overcomes his hesitations to fall in love, Miss Shui finally leaves her past behind and Qian Xue develops the confidence to become a businesswoman. Even Muxu and Sang Shen transform a little bit.

Music :
I have nothing special to say, the OST was really good. For once the opening is not a song, it's only music and I enjoyed it a lot, I couldn't skip it !! Overall it was good, Either I was vibing while watching the drama or I was crying during emotional scenes.

To conclude I think I will rewatch it someday because the details make you want to rewatch, the funny moments make you want to rewatch and most of the sweet scenes of our main leads makes you want to rewatch it again and again. I think I would recommended it to fans of the main leads like me, people who are looking for a lighthearted story without too much plot and people who love very sweet romances. All of this makes me rate this drama 10/10

Love this period rom-com

It was ok on the first watch but appreciated it more on rewatching. It's a simple main storyline, with a non-toxic leading relationship, great romance and comedy, great acting and chemistry, that pulls you into their love story and rooting for them. It doesn't have any CGI FX scenes to dazzle the viewers and may seem boring if you're looking for that. This drama falls all on the actors to carry the scenes - shows the director and actor's skills. The only annoying thing is the music/songs, played way too loud, sometimes even over the actor's thinking or voices - I had to mute to continue watching - the music ruined all those special moments.

“Twin Trouble & Sweet Romance"

Here’s my personal take on Romance of a Twin Flower. As someone who loves romantic Chinese dramas—and who has watched many since around 2021—I approached this one with hope, especially because I was drawn in by Ding Yuxi and the premise. I’ll say straight up: I enjoyed it more than some, but it still left me with mixed feelings 😊.

👍 What I Liked

💞 The Leads & Their Dynamic

Ding Yuxi’s portrayal of Ning Yuxuan is impressive — he’s the brooding, talented heir who slowly opens up as the story unfolds. His investigation into his father’s death adds depth and seriousness to his character.
Peng Xiaoran as Ji Man (and her twin-sister identity twist) brings lively energy to the drama. Her ambition, cleverness, and ability to turn adversity into opportunity make her a joy to watch 🌸.
Their “fish out of water” and “business meets aristocracy” combination feels refreshing. Ji Man’s entrepreneurial streak — her Haoxue Tang cosmetic business 💄 — adds a unique modern flair that I really enjoyed.

🎀 Light-Hearted Romance & Comedic Moments

Unlike many heavy palace intrigue dramas, this one focuses more on romance, humor, and everyday chemistry between the leads. The banter, misunderstandings, and cute moments made it fun to watch 😄.
Visually, the costumes and scenery stand out: the period setting, the fashion, the mansion of Ning Yuxuan’s family—it all helps immerse me.. 🏯✨.

🌼 Novel Elements Within Familiar Tropes

Identity swaps, amnesia, and revenge plots are common in C-dramas, but this story adds a creative business twist that makes it stand out. I loved seeing a female lead build her own cosmetic brand and challenge traditional roles 💪💋.
I also liked that the couple’s journey isn’t all smooth — they face setbacks, secrets, and family politics. It gave the story more emotional depth than a typical “meet-fall-in-love-and-done” romance 💔➡️💖

👎 What I Found Weaker

🌀 Too Many Tropes at Once
The drama tries to include everything — amnesia, twin swaps, family feuds, scheming concubines, romance, and business plots — all at the same time 😅. It sometimes feels overcrowded and loses focus. The pacing also shifts a lot: some episodes rush through key developments, while others drag with filler scenes 🕰️.

💔 Inconsistent Chemistry
While I liked the leads, I felt their growth and bond could have been stronger. Some critics noted that the female lead’s behaviour is overly quirky to the point of annoyance, and the male lead doesn’t always shine as the romantic hero😕.
At times, their trust in each other breaks too easily, and the tension drags out longer than needed. I wanted to see more warmth and connection between them — especially since the story’s heart is supposed to be their love 💞.

🎭 Uneven Tone & Execution
The drama often jumps between comedy and serious drama too abruptly. One moment it’s playful and funny, and the next it’s suddenly full of betrayal and tears 😶‍🌫️. This uneven tone makes it hard to stay emotionally connected throughout.
Also, certain camera angles and editing choices feel odd in some scenes, slightly breaking the immersion 📷.

🎬 Final Thoughts

Romance of a Twin Flower is a sweet, easy-to-watch drama with charm and heart. It’s not perfect — the plot can feel crowded and the emotional depth isn’t always strong — but it’s visually beautiful and genuinely enjoyable.

For someone like me, who started watching C-dramas in 2021 and loves the idealized, emotional romances they often portray, this drama felt like a comforting, happy escape 💕. It’s not one I’d call a masterpiece, but it left me smiling more often than not.
