This show was really heavy in terms of emotions... The story is so close and familiar to the tragedies that most of us have experienced in our lives that it quickly draws you in. If you are over 30 and looking for a series to watch for 3-5 days straight and have a good cry, you have found exactly what you are looking for right now. Out of the thousands of hollywood series, 100s of kdramas I've watched so far, It made me cry almost as much as "the light in your eyes" (almost!).The cast was perfectly chosen and the actors' chemistry was 10 out of 10 and they make you feel inside the story almost from the first minute. Also soundtrack and background music was perfectly fit and never disappoints you...

the plot of the story is not a new plot. plots like this are already widely used. However, acting from the actors was good and was able to bring me to finish this drama. Thirty nine provides a new perspective on the friendship of three 39-year-old women. There are many touching stories while watching this drama. Mijo, Chanyoung, and Joohee's friendship is very heartwarming. Each character has its own conflict. minus point of this drama is Chanyoung's love story which seems to normalize Jinseok and Chanyoung's affair in the eyes of some viewers. However, if you look at the roots, I think it was Jinseok's wife who lied and Jinseok who didn't act firm and didn't really solve the problem. Come to think of it, Chanyoung's love story is the saddest, having accidents, inner conflicts, and being separated by death. I cried when I watched the last episode. there is no death that is not sad, especially the death of the closest person. Chanyoung's story can be called a beautiful sad ending.Was this review helpful to you?
It's all heart ?
I began watching it for the friendship and it wrenched my heart in the bargain. The lightness & depth of relationships, grief, family beyond blood, love - is all beautifully depicted. The actors did a great job in portraying the seen & unseen worlds that we carry within ourselves when going through tense or happy moments in life. The unconditional love of friends is a balm to the soul - likely why they make beautiful soulmates. It was beautiful to watch the inner weavings of female friendships.Thanks to the crew for making this series with so much heart.
If I had to say one critique, it would be the lack of justice to a trio friendship in the tougher times. While there will be uneven links among a trio, at times the series focused only on a single duo friendship which had me missing the third friend. There were times when she wasn't even mentioned or thought of by the duo and that felt odd. I wish the series had done more justice to the trio dynamic.
This being said, it's a beautiful story to watch.
I love the plot & scene choices of the parts of the parallel stories that they chose to showcase vs put behind the scenes. Definitely recommended to watch if you're craving a dose of female friendships. Just keep a tissue box handy, for the happy tears too. :D yes, they make you laugh too.

Sad Slice of Life
If you’ve lost someone to cancer…If someone dear to you is living with cancer…
This drama will be that much more painful to watch.
The friendship dynamics of the 3 friends were reminiscent of Sex in the City especially the way they had each other’s back and their honesty with each other. All 3 FLs excelled in displaying a myriad of emotions and expressions and while this drama focused on one of the FLs more than the other two, it didn’t detract from me being immersed in the way they lived their lives. The MLs had a tough act to follow and some of the couple moments lacked chemistry.
The drama was on the way to being great but unfortunately decided to overuse some typical drama tricks. A few coincidences that makes sense is ok but one that stuck out like a sore thumb was the doctor ML being friends with the other 2 MLs even though he grew up overseas. And these 3 MLs pair up nicely with the 3 FLs…
I was also annoyed at one scene which juxtapositioned one character suffering in pain while another character was enjoying a romantic moment.
Less is clearly more in this case. As it stands, this drama stopped short of being great and just settled at being good.

Great Drama!
It's a very worth to watch drama!The storyline, actings, chemistry among casts, original soundtrack are just perfect! It has mix emotions in it...Funny, happy, touching, romantic and sad. Son Ye-jin, Jeon Mi-do and Kim Ji-hyun potray each of the besties' character (Cha Mi-jo, Jeong Chang-young and Jang Joo-hee) perfectly. It has a great and deep meaning original soundtrack too. Fast storyline, good narration and flashback flow. It's very relatable with real life situation. A sweet slice of life story with deep message to be delivered about life, friendship, love, struggle, principle and mutual respect.

Poignant, thought provoking, inspiring and beautiful story about the power of friendship
I absolutely LOVE this show. The acting is beyond incomparable. I have cried so many tears as the program is so incredibly touching and moving. As I watch this show, I cannot help but wish to be part of a friendship group like the one depicted in this series. Each one of the 3 main characters absolutely captivates your attention and touches your heart. The fact that there is also a back story regarding adoption and the emotional issues involved is a bonus. Watching these 3 wonderful actresses embrace the characters of loving, caring and generous friends is so amazingly inspirational. I believe there is only one episode left. While most K dramas are single season, I hope that this series will depart from this tradition like Love, Marriage and Divorce and will bring us another season so that we may see how the characters will cope and evolve.I thank the writers and actors for bringing such wonderful entertainment to us.

LAUGH, LOVE, LIVE… YOUR LIFE!
Yeah, just one episode so far but loving it already! Great cast and surprisingly not the typical Rom-Com happily ever after that everyone is used to or likes. Of course, I’m a hopeless romantic myself but I like the more “realistic, this is life” it’s portraying so far. Maybe because I’m also in my forties, I can relate to some things, ha! Best friends, despite their different ways of living, still supportive and caring of each other no matter what. Chance encounters, awkward attractions and sweet surprises, it’s all part of life, isn’t it? Can’t wait to see how the other 11 episodes will be played out, especially with that opening narrative.Was this review helpful to you?

E mais uma vez um drama que tinha um enorme potencial foi pelo ralo a baixo. Eu realmente queria muito ver esse drama, a premissa era boa os atores eram bons mais quando comecei assistir toda minha espectativa se esvaiu por completo.O drama te promete 3 protagonistas porém te entrega apenas uma e isso foi frustrante , toda a atenção e todos os problemas foi dado a Mi Joo, assim como a maior parte do tempo de tela foi dado para ela. Como assim gente uma das "protagonistas " estava morrendo com um cancer e nem assim foi dado quase nenhuma importancia a isso, pois estavam todo mundo correndo e prestando atenção nos problemas da Mi Joo, chegou um ponto que eu não aguentava mais ver ela em cena , tanto coisa acontecendo, eu querendo ver o progreso das outras histórias e tudo que eu via era a Mi Joo sofrendo.
Achei um drama arrastando, cansativo em certo ponto ,não foi de tudo ruim porem não foi bom o suficiente para me cativar, o unico episódio que me senti conectada foi o ultimo, em fim posso afirmar com conficção que não iriei assistir novamente e provalmente vou esquecer rápido disso tudo.

Vi que teve muita gente que se decepcionou, pois imaginavam antes de assistir que o drama seguiria um rumo diferente. Mas eu sinceramente gosto de ser surpreendida, se tudo vai como eu imagino é legal, mas não trás tantas emoções, essa é a minha opinião.

Trente-neuf... : Le moment de revoir ses choix, le moment où la vie vous y oblige...
C’est à nouveau un drama de femmes, les 3 amies, les mères, les sœurs… On dirait bien que les Coréens privilégient de plus en plus ses héroïnes, avec des caractères variés et des âges aussi ! Pour cela, je l’ai beaucoup aimé, mais avec des bémols quand même !Je m’explique !
C’est le drama typique « mit maladie incurable » et ça faisait longtemps que ce ressort dramatique me paraissait abandonné ! Ce qui sauve le sujet, c'est la façon très réaliste dont la maladie est gérée. Réalisme au niveau de la vie quotidienne, des amis, de la famille, comment vivre avec une pareille situation, depuis le choc brutal de l’annonce jusqu’à la fin en passant par toutes les étapes d’accommodations diverses avec la vie de tous les jours, le tout sans tomber dans l’excès, et en restant sur le fil de l’émotion. Il n’y a pas de scènes tire-larmes, en tous cas moi je n’ai eu les larmes aux yeux qu’au dernier épisode, le fameux brunch ! Mais je n’en dis pas plus.
j’ai aussi beaucoup apprécié la façon dont la problématique de l’adoption et de l’acceptation d’entrée dans une famille d’un enfant adopté a été traitée. N’oublions pas que beaucoup d’enfants coréens ont été et sont encore adoptés ! Là, nous avons la réaction archaïque du refus absolu, et aussi la paisible sagesse du « aucune importance » ! Mais l’originalité réside aussi dans les adoptées elles-même, comment elles ont vécu dans leurs différentes familles avec là aussi des positions fort divergentes. Les trois femmes, bien qu’arrivant à la quarantaine, sont toujours célibataires, et même si il y a quelques remarques parentales, elle se font surtout dans l’humour et on sent que là aussi le harcèlement traditionnel est en retrait. Il y a aussi des histoires d’amour, et des couples qui vont se créer à travers les liens indéfectibles des amies et le tragique de la situation. Et là aussi, par des dialogues très « vrais », très bien écrits, on garde un abord juste sans sentimentalité mollassonne. Les couples sont différents, avec des histoires diverses, très équilibrées, et je dois dire que les personnages masculins sont à peu près tous adorables, comme on aimerait en avoir un à la maison!
Les échanges entre les trois femmes sont parfois acerbes, la vérité est toujours dite, même au risque de déplaire, on sent la sincérité profonde qui les unit. J’ai eu très peur de voir arriver « je-t’aime-mais-je-te-quitte » mais pas du tout !!! Enfin on a « je t’aime mais je ne te quitte pas quoi qu’il arrive » !!
Alors le bémol ? Eh bien, malgré les 12 épisodes seulement je l’ai trouvé un peu long, en ce sens que ça s’étire une peu trop…La même histoire plus resserrée, (10 épisodes) aurait été géniale !!
Et puis aussi, le personnage en phase terminale a vraiment trop bonne mine… mais ça c’est parce que je pinaille !
En fait c’est un très bon drama, bien écrit, parfaitement interprété. Les trois actrices sont excellentes, leurs « cavaliers » aussi, mais on sent bien qu’ils sont en retrait et que ce sont elles les personnages centraux !
Bande son très bien faite, discrète, élégante et vraiment peu envahissante, ce qui est souvent le cas dans ce genre d’histoire !
Ne vous laissez pas effrayer par le sujet, ce n’est ni tragique, ni mélodramatique, c’est juste la vie… Donnez sa chance à ce beau drama !

Um dos dramas mais bonitos que já assisti...
Assisti por causa da Son Ye Jin, mas me apaixonei por todo o elenco. Foi um dos dramas mais bonitos que já assisti e o recomendo sempre que me perguntam. É um melodrama fantástico que acompanha a vida diária das três amigas.O apoio, cuidado e acolhimento que elas tinham entre si me deixavam bem emotiva. O romance, apesar de dar apoio à elas, ao meu ver, é o de menos, mas todos juntos também era muito bom.
A produção, fotografia, atuação, roteiro, tudo fazem com que este k-drama seja lindo e que tenha um lugar especial no meu coração.
