How Much Comedy Is Too Much??
The brief clash in the rain and the final fight were the only decent moments in this drama.. Everything else felt cringe riddled with forced comedy and unnecessary scenes.. Its frustrating to see such a talented cast wasted on this kind of material..The villain is probably the dumbest.. How can he be fooled so easily by everyone?? Hong Sik is not like the usual villains.. He is dangerous but dumb.. He was even tricked by the arms dealer.. Bit disappointed how it ended.. He was too easy to defeat.. Honestly we were robbed of a satisyfing climax.. And seriously.. Who checks their phone in the middle of a fight??
What was with that random plane door falling??? It felt like a scene straight out of a B-Grade drama..
Kim Nam Gil’s screen presence is truly unmatched.. He is in a league of his own..I think he solely elevated even the weaker moments of the drama..
The camera work throughout was brilliant.. With some truly stunning visuals.. The fight in the rain and the post credits scene fight in the snow were just visually stunning..
Overall this season wasn't as impressive as the first season but i still enjoyed most of it.. I would love to watch another season of them being silly and their absurd adventures but with a better script..

Comedy overpowered everything in this drama
While waiting for each new episode, I decided to watch the first season for the first time. The first season felt very slow, likely because it spanned 40 episodes. For a good portion of those episodes, I found myself hating or getting annoyed by many of the characters, which made me question whether I wanted to continue. However, the season ultimately delivered a solid story, with clear character development and growth. There was a good balance between seriousness and comedy, which I appreciated. Plus, the drama featured some great OSTs. We witnessed Kim Hae Il’s journey, from brokenness to gradual healing, only for him to be broken again and venture into darkness—before finally returning to the light. The second season, on the other hand, started off funny, but the humor quickly became overwhelming. The comedic aspect overpowered everything else, and as a result, the plot felt weak. It seemed like the characters lost their sense of purpose and forgot why they were doing what they were doing in the first place. The humor often felt forced, as though the writers were trying too hard to make everything comedic—some jokes landed, but many didn’t. Even the antagonists didn’t face the consequences I expected, likely because the writers were more focused on keeping things lighthearted. Additionally, the action scenes were less impressive compared to the first season.
In summary, the characters I grew to love in Season 1 just didn’t feel the same in Season 2. While there were funny moments, the humor dominated to the point where it felt like the main focus of each episode. The story lacked direction, aside from the overarching goal of taking down the drug cartel, which itself felt dragged out. The final episode was underwhelming—the takedown of the villain was anticlimactic, and the lack of harsh consequences for the villain’s actions was disappointing. The music osts for this season seemed absent to me.
That said, this is just my opinion. If you enjoy comedy from start to finish, this season might be for you. But if you’re looking for a balanced mix of seriousness and comedy, I’d say the first season is much better.

S2 just ok.
Season one is so much better than season two. IMO the plot for season 2 is a bit weak compared to Season 1, I think KHI has already done enough revenge for Lee Sang Yeon in episode one of S2. Why does he want to find out who the biggest drug dealer is? no need . The intention is just to bring justice to Lee Sang Yeon, right?Compared to S1, KHI is trying very hard to find the cause and who killed his mentor in order to protect his mentor's good name which has been tarnished. This plot is stronger because it involves more people conspiring to cover up the murder case.Overall okay, as many people say, there are a lot of slapstick jokes, comedy that are forced and is not feel like S1 vibes. Was this review helpful to you?

The cringiest drama ever made
What the hell was this season 2?I Finally managed to finish it, and it was such a chore, I felt like I owed it to the first season to give this one a fair shot, but it got more and more stupid and ridiculous as time went on.
This was a complete deconstruction of every character from season 1, none of them behaved like an actual human being, everyone felt like caricatures of themselves, from father kim to yohan, it felt like the writer and director had a vendetta against them and had to make them as unlikable and cringe as possible, and that brings it to my next point: this drama was hands down the cringiest drama I have ever seen in my entire life.
The comedy never properly landed, the action was mid at best, the plot was just the Father Kim team bursting at the seems with characters that the writer had no idea what to do with against the stupidest, most incompetent set of villains in dramaland history.
in comparison, the first season managed to evoke so many emotions out of the audience, the action scenes felt heavy and impactful, the comedy was perfect and on point and the plot for the most part was quite believable, in S2 the same characters that the writer had no idea what to do with had actual superpowers, like WTH? who made this stupid decision?
all in all S2 managed to fail to do the bare minimum of what S1 excelled at.
3/10

Empty plot, actors were having fun, comedy on crack I am a big fan of the actors, but I also dropped the first season and picked it up later and enjoyed it
so it's true they never had much strength in deep writing, but this season took it too far
as a nonsensical drama, this was overboard, they had superpowers, evil dark plots that got solved so fast even the characters were bewildered
people would show up and disappear out of nowhere, random musical numbers - did they change bibi with that random girl at the end?- and the writers had nothing to do that he had his five characters go undercover with random characters and stay there for a few eps
I don't mind nonsensical comedy on crack, it was funny, but as a crime plot it was sooo bad
I loved Pegasus market, I loved kkondae intern, chief kim and even the first season of this to some extant but this season only really had the actors enjoyment to drive the watch experience

This is comedy mixed with action
So this is my first time writing a review. Don't believe the bad reviews people are giving the second season. I love this drama , the storyline, action, acting and music is in place. This is an unserious serious drama. It's was supposed to be comic and for me it delivered. The fiery priest was fiery and he infected his people with the same furry. When he wants to be serious he gets serious and when it's time for jokes , then you get to laugh. I love all the blends. Just give it a try as for me I love itWas this review helpful to you?
Spoiler: Total nonsense comedy, not for everyone
To start with, this review might be biased because this is KNG show.I have been following this season from the start, alongwith the comments for each episode. I could see that people felt dismayed because this season is bang opposite of first one:
1. This one is not at all emotionally driven
2. This one has too much "over the top" (i guess) comedy, I will call it silly comedy, while first season had more mature comedy.
3. The plot was quite basic with not so strong motive.
4. As a consequence, the acting might feel over dramatic.
But, as someone who has seen both seasons, I found 1st season more interesting but too long and slow burny for me to rewatch entirely- I would rather prefer last 5 episodes and enjoy the Chemistry of "michi-gang". But, in contrast to the first one, I would run through the 2nd season because it has these loud, extravagant and really silly comic scenes that show all the characters go real mad. This is something I have rarely seen in korean content. Also, since I have also watched Indian comedy movies, so I am kind of used to watching this type of silly and "cringe" (they said) comedy.
I smiled a lot watching this season, and most of all, I was happy to see KNG's character alive in the end.
Yes, the strongest point for rewatch🥲
Period.

Comedy, Action and Humanity
Not the usual kdrama. This series delivers exactly what it promises- comedy, action, and humanity. All the characters are so well created, props to both the writer and the actors. Loved ALL the good guys and I was crying with them through their struggles and hardships and cheering for them when they started standing up. Action was crazy, comedy was brilliant and there wasn't a single scene that was slow.
The story itself is very serious, they are dealing with a mass murderer who kills people whenever he feels like it and the good guys are at a great disadvantage from the beginning. But the comedy and positive energy of the Gudams balanced it out so well that I didn't think how dark it was until after the season ended.
Cinematography and directing was on another level, the drone shot of the action sequence in episode 1 and the action scenes in a single take blew my mind away. The music was fire. Now that all the episodes aired, I keep re-watching the season and it gets better every time. All the plot twists and reveals were obvious from the start, it's pretty genius.
It is a must watch if you are a fan of 90's Hong Kong comedy action movies.
This is the most fun series I have watched in a while, and I'll be waiting to watch season 3 of my favorite family even if it takes another 5 years.

What is this nonsense???
I hated it, not because I have high hopes that the second season would be even better, but because after 5 years of waiting, I think the fans of this show deserve better than just a complication of bland jokes, nonsense script and a bunch of way-too-much product placementsThey had a potential start, and then rest from ep6 was total trash.

comedy overshadowed
I waited patiently for the second season because I fell in love with the first season very quickly. The characters and their traits were very humorous and enjoyable. However for me, this season overdid with the comedy which overshadowed the personalities of characters and the storyline. The first season had a great storyline and the characters were not restricted to comdey and humour, although the presence of comdey did make it a lot better but this season did it a bit too much.
I believe that this will be enjoyable for some and not for the others.
overall, I enjoyed it as they were my favourite characters and of course, the casting is perfect.

Since this is S2, EVERYTHING is DOUBLED - Hero & his Mini Version Vs 2 Villains, Haha
(NOTE 1: Check out my Reviews for both the seasons, for similarities n differences between S1 n S2NOTE 2: Since the Storylines are SAME in both the Seasons, U might find "some" parts of my Reviews SAME for both seasons :)
Since S2, everything is doubled, I too have two Notes above, haha )
*****
S2 is NOT a Continuation / SEQUEL of S1, it's a STANDALONE.
But need to watch S1 to know the background of characters
Few New characters are introduced here n few from S1 are not in S2
This Season shows the adventures of our priest with his team in a different city, meeting new people, adding them to his team, fighting against the bad guys, fighting for justice on a Case different from that in S1.
***** THE STORY:
Same as S1,
I watched this Only for Namgil since I yearned to watch more of our fiery priest :)
n found our priest's mini version (Seo Bum June's role) in this :)
Here, The "Fiery Priest" with his Mini Version, is on Fire while in Action!! 😂
Since this is S2, EVERYTHING is DOUBLED:
Two bold / badass roles in Hero's team (Nam Gil's n his mini version 🤭)
Vs
Two Evil / badass roles in Villain's team
So there are two Attractions for me in this drama - Priest n his Mini Version :)
Also Same as S1,
This is a LIGHT DRAMA with
mindless silly comedy / Slapstick comedy,
Zero gripping /thought provoking plot, Zero mystery.
It's just a mediocre comedy, little exaggerated reactions and overacting for comedic purposes.
A mix of action + comedy + crime
All Fight sequences are VERY GOOD
***** THE DIFFERENCES :
At the first look, one might feel that
S1 is better than S2 since it's the same story formula but
S1 n S2 have their own charms, even though it's the same story formula
The difference I found between two seasons is:
S1 deals with the church father's case who is close to our priest n so it gives an emotional connection for the revenge / justice seeking journey of our priest
Whereas
S2 deals with a general injustice case related to old people whom our priest met in his journey. So that emotional connection to the victims is less but instead his urge to seek justice for everyone using violence is good (n funny too) .
This difference, either emotional connection in S1 or the urge to seek justice for strangers in S2, is reflected throughout all the episodes in both seasons.
And even viewers feel that "connection" in S1 n that "seeking justice for everyone" in S2 n so some might find S1 better than S2 based on emotional vibe differences
***** ACTORS / CHARACTERS:
Same as is S1,
Love Nam Gil's character a lot - The Fiery, the Bold, the Sarcastic but Kind Hearted
But very short tempered and that generates the comedy
Nam Gil is so handsome with his Sarcastic Smirks in this too ;)
Whenever there is any injustice around him, the Savage Angry Beast inside this NIS agent turned Priest, awakens n the comedy follows while he is punishing the bad or fighting for the justice.
Nam Gil Admirers will Love to watch him in Action! :)
Though the drama is mediocre, ABSOLUTELY LOVED Nam Gil's Sarcastic n Bold Character .
Would love to watch the same character of Nam gil with the same personality n not being a Priest, with romance or bromance, in a Crime Action Comedy or a Crime Thriller
(The thought itself is so interesting! :o)
In S2,
The SPOOF of JOKER n the entire fight scenes there, are VERY FUNNY.
Nam Gil in JOKER'S attire is bratty (Joker is meant to be so)
Also The Priest's sarcastic bold nature is added to that Joker vibe n so he looks so GOOD n stylish !!
**
Seo Bum June's role is a MINI VERSION of OUR FIERY PRIEST ;)
I liked his character a lot, though a support role
Both are stubborn, angry birds, when it comes to fight against injustice!
I loved his rapport with our priest
That little Bromance as teacher - student is cute
Those police station scenes, where our priest goes as an guardian to our little angry bird, are PURE COMEDY!
(Nam Gil reacts like a KDrama Mom (crying n hitting her son, seeing him in police station). Very funny!)
**
Same as is S1,
Kim Sung Kyun's role is the funniest, his comedic facial expressions are pure fun to watch!
His Bickering with the Priest, still continues in S2 n is the funniest.
**
Same as is S1,
Lee Ha Nee's character is still the same Bold badass FL with a bit exaggerated reactions and expressions, little hyper active
Like in S1, bromance / friendship between priest n her is good.
Their funny bickering still continues in S2
Her role is more fun to watch in S1
Here, that track of her n the Ghost is funny
**
Sung Joon is so handsome n did the bad guy role well.
He is more ruthless n scary.
(As I said above, Everything is doubled in S2, so the evil nature of the villain is also doubled than the one in S1 )
He, trying to flirt with FL is funny
(His wild imaginations about her )
**
Seo Hyun Woo's role is also Good as the manipulative guy.
His rapport with Sung Joon's is good
(Team bad guys! 🤭)
**
Bibi's role is a bold police officer.
Her scenes along with the team are funny.
Her rapport with Sung Kyun, as a member from the same family tree, is funny
**
Same as in S1,
The other characters, the helping team of the priest are good n funny.
The actors did their roles well
**
I LOVED the roles of
Nam Gil, Seo Bum June (priest's mini version :) ),
Sung Kyun (the funny piece with priest all the time)
Sung Joon, Hyun Woo (the bad guys)
n Bibi, the Most.
ONLY THESE CHARACTERS ARE MORE INTERESTING out of all other characters.
*****
OST - That music suits well to the mood of the drama.
The instrumental bgm musics used for the Priest in Action or for any other character, are cool .
*****
Just for Nam Gil's role,
a true Fiery & Justice seeking one n
to watch more of Nam gil as a punisher,
Yearned for a S2
(n not for the usual routine story)
Now with the same story formula, THERE IS NO SURPRISE, IF THERE IS A SEASON 3
***** RATING:
8.5 / 10 for this MINDLESS FUN RIDE
(7 for the story and the mediocre comedy.
8.5 only bcz of
Nam Gil's Lovely Fiery character n impressive acting
+ mini version of our priest, Seo Bum June's role :)
Enjoyed this show only bcz of Them )
**** My Admiration for Nam Gil :):
I fell in love with his acting from Crime Thriller "Through the Darkness"
n then watched Action Comedy "The Fiery Priest "
The variations in his roles in these two dramas are Amazing, SURPRISED ME alot.
There, as a Cold Introvert person, who never talks (dark vibes surrounding him n so brooding)
Here, as a fiery n yet funny n lively person, who never stops talking n smiling, punishing the bad guys and giving evil smirks to them, haha
There, I always wanted him to smile or speak out
Here, am surprised to see him talking non-stop 😂
He just slayed both the roles though they are extremes in nature n in personality.
Anyways,
Introvert analysing criminals (Through the Darkness) to
A Fiery smiley (comedic in The Fiery Priest) to
An Emotional One side lover / stalker (in another drama),
U can clearly see the differences in each of his roles n in his acting.
He is a PROLIFIC actor!
And so the Saga of me, watching every drama of his, Started
If he is in a project, I'm in! :)
Oh my Nam Gil Oppa!
What have U done to my poor heart !! 🤭

One of my Favorite Watch This Year!!!
This was a laughter riot thoroughly and I have no qualms expecting a third season! When I watched the first season few years back, I couldn’t stop laughing hysterically. That’s the major highlight of this show- a foul-mouthed Catholic Priest, a comic police detective and a badass Prosecutor. They are entirely contradictory to the kind of the image that their professions demand. It made for an interesting watch; while the prequel was all about forging new ties, the sequel delivers on the promise of seeking justice, albeit with a healthy side dose of humor. Our favorite trio return to defy logic, amassing victories like bitcoin while they remain true to their legendary spirits. All three of them are like mad dogs, unpredictable and chaotic; but that’s what makes this show so intriguing. As our trio head to Busan, they set up a new base, tackle drug lords while forming fresh ties. This drama was my weekend go-to for fun and frolics, there wasn’t a dull moment. Sure, the show did seem to drag in some places (wish they had handled punishing the villains in a better way), but then this show was never about making “sense”.
