I think he fell in love in that scene under the pear tree (ep 5). And this song was playing. It's one of my favorites scenes in the drama. When Xiao Duo replied, "i did drink a little, but I'm not stupid" to Bu Yinlou's allegations about her fish immortal's power, then humored her by letting her force the flowers to fall from the tree, it was funny and sweet at the same time. He was feeling depressed and Yinlou didn't mind hurting her shoulder to create a flower shower to make him feel better. The music greatly helped set a poignant mood.
Totally agreed. I also believe he fell in love with her right at that moment. Who wouldn’t? I can’t speak for everyone, but I would if someone would go to great lengths, even do silly things, just to help me restore my faith in the future, lighten my mood, help me crack a smile the way YL did 🙂. Like you, this scene is my one of my favorites too. Well written & acted; beautiful visual & music; nice combination of comedic and heart touching moments.
I love all of their scenes tbh 🙂. Another of my favorites is when they took shelter in the fishermen’s hut, the moment they exchanged and whispered to each other their nicknames. This gesture felt much more heart-fluttering and intimate than the normal “I like you”. The Moonlight song was played here too; it sounded romantic (if we ignore the sad lyrics).
oh yes, that's a swoon-worthy scene. In the drama, telling a person one's nickname seemed like inviting that person into your innermost circle. Bu Yinlou refused to tell the emperor her nickname. I don't think anybody else knows.
Another swoon-worthy moment in the hut was when XD kissed the sleeping BYL. He couldn't help himself.
There really are so many heart-fluttering and deeply meaningful scenes between them, that's why I'm happy with the romantic feels of this drama even without the cut scenes.
The whole scene from when he put his arm around her to warm her to when he got nervous because of the kiss is too sweet for words. As for the cut scenes, I did get a little upset every time I read there was one, but this feeling died down quite fast. I’m with you that what were officially shown in the episodes already oozed with undeniable love, sweetness and passion, so for me the cuts were not too big a loss. I’m content and grateful that the UL was approved to air after all. Such one of a kind and beautiful love story and couple, it would be a crime if it were shelved 😂
That's indeed another swoon-worthy scene. Yes, the drama is filled with these sweet scenes that more than make up for the loss of the cut scenes. Like the one you mentioned about her disclosing her nickname is actually more meaningful than a kiss. And I just saw one (I've been rewatching some episodes while waiting for the next episodes) when he just received a caning from the emperor who blamed him for YL's poisoning. He was whining like a baby when she asked him if the caning hurt. So cute!
