Another badass female lead and she is slaying it <3
'A Journey to Love' and now this! <32024 is such a good atmosphere for Chinese directors and scriptwriters.
I loved the buildup of relationship between LMT and CZ.
I am watching again ep 1-20 because I don't want to miss details of their "house-play" and "husband-wife" life.
ML and FL have a good chemistry <3

Well produced wholesome drama
The initial episodes did seem to stretch a bit, but the leads, esp. Wang Chu Ran, Liu Ling Zi, Zhang Chi assay convincing roles. The transformation of Wang Chu Ran is especially commendable, there is a clear psychological shift of characterization seen. The plot could have been more layered, however, all the characters are well-rounded and have distinct personalities of their own. Some episodes are certainly worth re-watching.

I am hooked into this drama, FL so pretty and ML carried his character so well. I don’t feel bored at all from episode 1 until episode 40. Really recommended to watch this drama. Both FL and ML both are very clever in this drama. I like the ML characteristics so much.
It’s a great drama to binge watch on your weekend.

BEST CDRAMA OF 2024
Trust me when I say this: I’ve dropped a lot of C-dramas this year. And I almost dropped this one, too. But something made me hold on, dig deeper… and I’m so glad I did. What unfolded was one of the most amazing storylines I’ve seen in a while.Let’s start with the obvious: Wang Churan. Her beauty left me speechless, not just outwardly, but in the depth and grace she brought to the character. And the male lead? I had no idea he was Erqiang in The Bond until much later, but wow, what a performance. I wasn’t disappointed for a second.
This series gave me warm fuzzies in my belly. Yes, that kind of love. I’m not easily impressed. But this? This was beautifully plotted and expertly executed. It checked all the boxes —strong leads, believable character arcs, stunning visuals, and an emotional payoff that made every episode worth it.
The landscape, oh, the landscape! Chinese historical dramas are visual poetry, and this one made me promise myself to visit China one day. And by God's grace, I will, very soon.
I almost forgot to leave this review because I watched it weeks ago, but the memory just came flooding back and I couldn’t stay silent. Even the side characters shone in their roles, and that final episode? Perfectly done.

Loved this from start to finish.
This is the first c-drama I've been invested in enough to pay for the final episodes, and it was completely worth it.If you’re not into slice of life or the premise of ML deceiving FL for political gain, you probably won't get past the first relationship arc on this drama. For me, the gradual changes in the ML from implacable enemy to ardent admirer were very well done, with just enough resistance and denial on his part!
Her shift from implacable enemy to lover was the second relationship arc and again I enjoyed the slowness of it, her frustrations and justifiable anger. The 'Mr and Mrs Smith' segment in the middle was hilarious when both are out to get the other.
And the final relationship arc, their trust, togetherness, cleverness in dealing with their various enemies and troubles, well I watched and loved it all with a smile on my face.
For a change, I didn't mind either of the secondary pairings but the emperor and empress was by far the sweetest.
Things I didn't like; the Lian matriarch's obsessiveness and vindictiveness as well as the actress's scene-chewing. A badly written one-dimensional character and either poor acting or direction resulting in scenes I just wanted to get away from. And they returned to that plot point over and over again. 😞 Prince Sui and Consort Xian also got to overact horribly in the last couple of episodes so I suspect it's a direction issue.
The political plots got quite silly at the end and the resolution by the main couple was highly improbable, but no more so than most cdramas! We did get a lovely fight sequence with added bickering from the lead pair which was fun and amusing to see.
All in all, I didn't fast forward at any point and I will definitely be adding this to my rewatch list!

The best Chinese drama in 2024
I initially aborted watching the drama as I was not familiar with the actor - Zhang Wan Yi. But I enjoyed his acting in another drama - The Rise of Ning. I decided to return and watch this series again. It was really entertaining seeing the chemistry between 2 leads and comical camaraderie between Zhang Chi (Marquis) and Zhang Wan Yi.The alluring beauty and acting skills of Wang Chu Ran certainly help maintain my interest. She has acted with many leading man in numerous romance dramas, but I very seldom completed an entire drama with her as lead. It is not because she can't act but rather because many of her dramas usually had weak storylines.
Having watched The Rise of Ning, this drama is far more enjoyable and better scripted.

One of the best Chinese historical series!
I think the screenplay is the heart of this success. With this historical romance genre, the story is well told and has many situation developments which brings me more surprised and interested along the way, and WOW after I finished. Huge applause to the director, casts, and all the crew. The chemistry between the main characters is incredible. Zhang Wan Yi has done a few the historical pieces before and he nailed it again on this one. Now, I understand why his fans define him as ‘King of Historical Palace’. In this series, I love his comedy and crafty scenes the most, while his drama and leadership are always great. Wang Chu Ran surprises me a lot as I’ve never seen her doing this kind of character. And the scene when the truth reveal at the waterfall is the best for me ❤️
Last but not least, the OSTs are perfect for this series.

The Drama Where Amnesia and Groveling Are a Love Language
Let’s talk about this drama—because clearly, it’s aiming for that coveted spot on the 2024 Best Chinese Drama list. Now, let me start by saying: amnesia tropes and hidden identities? Not my favorite. Honestly, it feels like we’re all just watching filler episodes waiting for that big reveal that could happen, but, you know... doesn’t. This drama? It has that issue in spades. The ML and FL both know each other’s identities, but instead of moving things along, they decide to just... not. I mean, why push the story forward when we could just sit on this secret for, like, 10 more episodes, right? That said, the story itself unfolds beautifully, and I just wish we had more scenes between the ML and FL after they figured out who the other was. You know, give me more of that juicy interaction and less of the “let’s just stare meaningfully while withholding all our knowledge” game.
Now, full disclosure: I’m not usually a fan of too much angst or endless episodes where everyone is just trying to clear up a misunderstanding. But somehow, all that tension, chemistry, and romance? It actually worked! I was surprised. Every moment added layers to the relationship, even though, yes, I desperately wanted more episodes of them together without the whole 'let me beg for forgiveness' routine. Don’t get me wrong, watching the ML grovel was satisfying, but we could’ve fast-forwarded to the part where they’re actually happy together, just a little more, right?
Let’s also talk about that love triangle hint. To be honest, I was here just for Zhang Wan Yi (seriously, Lost You Forever? Still not over it). But the journey the poor guy went through to finally get the FL—whew, talk about a rollercoaster. The angst, the tension, the “will they, won’t they,” all of it kept me hooked. And let’s be real: the directors/authors really made him earn it. No easy wins here.
And then there’s the FL, played by Wang Chu Ran, who’s basically the star of the show for me. She’s beauty, she’s grace, she’ll make him grovel all over the place! Smart, not easily fooled, and a total queen, she absolutely nailed every scene. Now I’m officially on a mission to watch all her dramas.

My feedback
I watched this completely.ML: Like the acting of ML. He was good in Lost you forever also..
FL: First time I watched FL. She looks good but need to improve her acting skill. I felt like she is acting artificially, I mean doesn't seem natural when she gets close to male lead. There is a scene when she hugs him. Typically in a hug your hands go inwards but her hands were outwards and felt like she doesn't want to hug at all. She can improve over the time if she puts some effort in assimilating the character she is playing.
Other characters worth to mention
Empress Shi: I like her a lot. She is so good in her acting. She did really well. Wish to see her more in dramas.
ML friend: He is good too.
Story: Liked it. Worth to watch at least one time.
Costumes/Sets: Well balanced.
Music: No Comments. The BG scores were good.
If you want to pass your time during a long weekend just watch this. I would recommend it.

This not yet my FINAL review I will be back once I finish watching the whole series.
Okay, here we go. At first, I was kind of reluctant to watch this, as I knew that it would be a time-consuming thing to watch. So far, everything has been good and quite entertaining. The ML was endearing, and I appreciated how he made a concerted effort to revert to his former self, but ultimately failed. You ask why, because he was starting to fall. Anyway, once I finish this one, I'll give you an update on my reviews.

Slow moving, but delicious
Are You the One (2024) is a slow moving Chinese drama, which is listed as a Romance Drama. This drama did not meet my 15 minute ‘Love it or Leave it” metric bar. Something was off. Then I saw it. While this Chinese drama is not listed as a RomCom, there is lots of textured comedy in the production. Mentally, I was looking for a serious romance drama, but got thrown off by subtle comedic cues. I had to do a brain reset. This fixed my problem. Are You the One (2024) is a light Comedy Romance drama. This Chinese drama storyline is using a very popular trope of late, which has sworn male and female enemies at a battle face off and the female meets with an accident, which leaves her with amnesia. The male, understanding that you keep your friends close and your enemies closers, takes in the female into his abode and oftentimes pretends to be her husband. I have to admit that I like this trope very much. It has constant elements of danger present, since the female could get back her memory at any time. However, this trope allows for such a seductive launch base for accidental romance. The story is adapted from the novel "Jiao Cang", written by Kuang Shang Jia Kuang.‘Are You the One’ stars actor Zhang Wan Yi (Lost You Forever) and actress Wang Chu Ran (Fireworks of My Heart). Zhang Wan Yi plays a loathsome character for my taste. He is a self-centered rich royal from the military who does not quite get the concept that some people are human beings. He inconsiderately and uncaringly uses the fallen lady, just seeing and opportunity to get gains and goes for it, no holds barred. Fortunately, there is lots of room for personal growth. Wang Chu Ran plays an intelligent justice fighter, who belongs to a gang of bandits. This gang is at odds with the law as they fight agsinst what they feel is injustice. In addition, she has a very interesting backstory.
Are You The One is popular right now, pulling in 9.7/10 among viewers. This is a drama you may want to add to your list of dramas to view.
