A Visually Stunning Drama with a Few Weak Spots

As a fan of this genre, I love this drama. The cinematography is soooo good, it gives Western series vibes. The lighting, makeup, outfits, angles, action, romance, everything is perfect.
Dilraba and Chen Xingxu are really suitable for this drama. They're so beautiful, and their features look so good together. Their chemistry is also good, and the romance is just perfect for the drama. So I don't get why some people say the drama is too focused on their romance, because it's not. And the way they fall in love is also not out of nowhere. If you go through danger together several times and the other person is also attractive, I think you're bound to have some feelings.
The pace is just right, it doesn't drag on but is also not rushed (except the ending). It makes me feel curious about what happens next and eager to watch the next episode.
I really like their fight in the earlier episodes. That was so hot. And I love their villains, Aunt Lin and Xiong Hei. Aunt Lin really gives you an eerie feeling while also being gorgeous at the same time.
This drama isn't without flaws. The good guy side seems useless, especially compared to the villain side. Some people who read the novel said that in the novel they're not that useless. And some things aren't explained clearly in the drama, but I can get past that since they don't really impact the drama overall. I can still enjoy it. Probably because they have to fit everything into 32 episodes.
The CGI could be better for the monster. Then the final battle feels rushed, I kinda expected more.
It's still very enjoyable to watch.

underrated sci-fic tv series

overall if you like since-fiction, good dresses, beautiful girls, amazing side characters, you are going to love this one!
its sci.fiction and thriller drama. The only thing that i dont like is the name of the drama doesnt fit the drama.
i expected more intimate/kissing scenes in this drama since it is called "Love on the Turquoise Land". I wish there were more scenes but there is not. I expected since the female lead is an independent woman and not a university student. in my opinion, that means the title doesnt fit the drama.
I need to say this: All the side chracters were amazing. The actors and actresses were amazing. Su xin and zhang Li nailed it. their make up, outfits were all amazing.
Dilraba`s outfit were amazing, her make up. she fits her role so well. she is better in modern dramas than Historical dramas for sure. cheng xin (ML) and Dilraba (FL) are a perfet match.

I like the cinematography, decors, female and male leads houses, also ML"s mother house decor was amazing.
Sometimes it story was slow but maybe this is the concept of chinese dramas.

Interesting show, worth to watch

The main story is interesting and fresh. Earth-fiends , add the sci-fi elements to it, strong acting of Dilraba and CXX pulled me to the show. Unfortunately, the story telling had some weakness as many of the details and backgrounds were not sufficiently explored and explained. Although the main premise of the show is not romance, what kept me watching the show was the interaction between ML and FL, it was a slow burn love that was woven seamlessly and effortlessly in the show, one of the best I've seen in CDrama.

This deserves a better MDL rating

I'm not sure why this has such a low (7.5 at this time) rating when this is a well-crafted, well-acted, well-produced drama. Maybe people don't like the intertwining of genres (romance and thriller)? But from beginning to end this drama had me enveloped in its eerie world and on the edge of my seat with its suspense.

Every facet of the drama contributed to the immersive atmosphere that perfectly supported a supernatural story. The directing cuts and angles during suspenseful parts had me biting my nails. The characters had depth, understandable motives, and believable tension among themselves. The romance was one thread through the story but it had spark and a well-paced build. The styling of characters, the sets--gritty or lavish as the scene required, even the supporting CGI, all work together to make the world addictive. Perhaps to some the pace felt slow, but I felt it was deliberate--mimicking the pace of the characters who have to move warily because the next step could be perilous.

Yes the ending left a few things hanging, perhaps in hopes for a Season Two, and some of the characters we became invested in didn't receive as much time as they should have at the end, but overall it was a satisfying ending that wasn't too abrupt. And the highest praise I can give is to say that--unlike so many cdramas--it didn't lag in the middle but kept its pace throughout all 32 episodes.

Not impressed

Started out really great and the concept is something new for a C-drama, but it faltered halfway thru. There were some loopholes and seems to me the writers were lazy or maybe they thought the audience wouldn't mind not using their brains. It's a 2025 modern drama and yet the fiends were the only ones who used a bit of tech, which was not enough too. The hunters, being the protagonists, were sadly a group of arrogant amd complacent losers who didn't use any tech and all they did were useless ceremonies/rituals without any strategizing or even planning before they go on missions. Plus, they were not recruiting enough members at all. It was also unclear how they got all those nice cars without any source of livelihood except posing as a mountain rescue team. Jiang and Xing Chen were not good leaders, keeping secrets from their team and not discussing all things with them. Plus, Jiang had the chance to escape with YanTuo but he stupidly chose to be a captive for what? Another irritating factor is that suddenly when they went back to the gate to look for Luo, the fiends and other earth demons didn't attack, which is out of character and the writers just conveniently made it like that. For Luo to survive a sword going thru her body like that was just too fantastical too. Xing Chen was right in doing experiments and research and I felt like it would've been a more meaningful story if they had delved into it further. Locust was suddenly out of the picture and they didn't make use of that angle at all or maybe they were saving that for season 2 if there is? The question is, would I want to watch season 2? I'll have to think about it.

Ahh this could've been a solid 5 stars if it didn't fall apart towards the end.

It was a very new (to me) plot and genre, and for the most part vastly engaging, the good vs evil, hunters vs fiends part definitely could've been more fleshed out.

Dilraba, Chen Xingxu and Zhang Li all did really good jobs, especially the two leads. Dilraba and Chen Xingxu have to work together again, this can't be the last time we see their incredible chemistry and sexual tension.

As for the characters, the leads have the most fleshed out personas, we see their reason and motivation for everything and we are led to understand them as people and their various relationships with the rest of the cast (i would've liked it a bit if Yan Tou's crisis was shown was he found out about Lin Xirou, I mean the emotional turmoil would've been incredible to witness and I'm sure CXX would've done the scenes justice).

Aside from them Zhang Li's Lin Xirou was charismatic, eerie and hauntingly beautiful, she completely embodied that haughty, rich chairwoman vibe, but any closer look would show you that there is something... other about her.

The cinematography is insanely beautiful, it was just cinema every shot, I mean if you had Reba and CXX and managed to fumble their combined face cards then let's revoke your directing license.

Now, for the rest of the cast and the things I didn't like so much:

The Nanshan Hunters:
Oh my god, how can an organization that has been around for hundreds if not a thousand years be so disorganized and underprepaired? They don't even give you the feel of a group of people that are competent, their weapons are at least several centuries old, they don't have good documentation of anything, nor good structural hierarchy, and no one fucking knows anything! Like there should've been a plan in place already in case something happened to Jiang Baichuan and the rest of the elders, then something did happen and they descended into chaos. Xing Shen, the leader that JBC chose is so closed off and complicated and only does things his own way that there is no way for any of the other hunters to know what he is planning let alone have an input in it. Its no wonder 97% of them died at the final battle.

And on the topic of Xing Shen, god he is so fucking annoying, I get he didn't trust Yan Tou but he made him suspicious and caused him so much suffering at the hands of the Fiends. And there was no need for him to die like??? Just to take out Xiong Hei?? His "sacrificial" death had zero build up and zero impact and was ultimately useless.

The Earth Fiends:
I really wish we saw more about how they were able to transform (revert?) to human forms. Aside from Lin Xirou and her eerieness, we got to see at least Feng Mi and the sick one actually act like humans. Feng Mi was so interesting, because as the Fiend that knew Yan Tou the least, she had the most compassion for him and truly seemed to understand human emotional complexity, that Yan Tou could not just simply forgive them and even felt sorry for him, i hated that she died while protecting him too (especially considering how useless he was in that fight).
The other Fiend I liked the characterization of was the sickly one that did not want to live any longer. As for Xiong Hei, everything Yan Tou said was right, he only wore a human skin and did not understand at all what it meant to be human, he was still underneath that skin a monster that resorted to violence at the turn of an eye.

LXR and Yan Tou's relationship was so bittersweet, on the one hand here's the woman that raised you from childhood, gave you everything and spoiled you endlessly, but on the other, she is also the woman who ruined your family's life, killed your parents and sister, stole your mother's identity and your father's company, and also has emotionally abused your other sister (Lin Ling) and aggressively controlled her entire life.

I do believe though that she did have maternal feelings toward him after all those years, and no its not because he was of no use to her—he was, he was heir to RoadSound Group and the face of the company's activities in the light, the ones she couldn't handle considering her non aging— there was something she said when everything was already exposed, that he was the only thing that allowed her to pretend to be human, "But Xiao Tou, without you, Aunt Lin has also lost her home." She wore the skin of a human but it was this foster son that allowed her to truly feel like one.

Unfortunately, at the end of the day she could not understand how he couldn't set aside all her crimes against his family and still keep being her doting son, even calling him ungrateful, which... ma'am you raised him with his parents money 😭? Which brings me to the conclusion that the Fiends really could not be left unchecked no matter how she kept saying that she did not want to be enemies with the Hunters. They needed blood bags, which meant constantly killing off generations of a family since they didn't age, and also what if others became carnivorous and went rogue like the first one? Its all a very black and white thing and yet not really.

The Final Battle/ Episodes:
My biggest gripe with the show so far, there was so much buildup only for it to fall woefully short. The Nanshan Hunters are most useless, we know that. They were going to die, we also know that, but damn were they complete shit. The Mad Blade pill and its consequence being madness would've been acceptable, what the fuck is the cliche last minute amnesia. Also how did NJL forget to kill Fiends and got injured instead, and Yan Tou was just walking around uselessly with that tranquilizer gun he did nothing with. It made no sense to have LXR killed by NJL's mother and not NJL herself or YT (poetic justice).

Also NJL and Yu Rong were both holding their own very well against XH and the other guy at the shop so how come five of them now couldn't take them down and three had to die to do it this time?

Anyway if i keep nitpicking we'll be here all day, there's plenty of things to enjoy and plenty not to so just give it a try to see if its to your liking.

And shoutout to our resident lesbian couple, Yu Rong and Quecha, the only acceptable thing to come out of the Nanshan Hunters.

FROM ENEMIES TO LOVERS

It's not your tipical love story but it's a sifi horror tv series with twist of monstars and slight hints of costume period. The both actors did a great job specially Dilraba.

I was exited to watch this drama after watching the trailor and yes as I expected it performed well.

As for action section it was bit disappointing I thought madblade is going on a crazy rampage and kill the boss but her mom the ex-madblade stole the show 😆 let me talk about the ml BRO WAS USING A GUN IN LAST FIGHT YET HE DIDN'T GET ANY KILLS. But he saved his love by risking his life at the end

The memory loss (Amnesia) plot it was unnecessary yet it made sense

over all iam going to give a solid 9/10

THANKYOU

Chemistry Served, Mystery Delivered

First of all, Dilraba was absolute perfection in this drama. She has come such a long way, and every time I watch her, she feels more and more refined in her craft. This role really highlights the full range of her acting abilities—subtle, expressive, and confident. Huge applause as well to her stylist, because she truly slayed every look.

Chen Xing Xu feels completely in his element here. His performance is natural and convincing, with no awkward moments at all. The chemistry between the leads is undeniable and effortlessly delivered. What I appreciated most is that their romance doesn’t rely on overused clichés; instead, it unfolds gradually, built on partnership, trust, and mutual respect. And honestly—they’re incredibly cute together.

Genre-wise, this drama leans into mystery and thriller, with a borderline horror vibe that keeps things tense and engaging. On top of that, the supporting characters are genuinely lovable—you’ll definitely find yourself getting attached.

Overall, a well-balanced drama with strong performances, compelling atmosphere, and a refreshing love story.

Should u watch it?

I always admired Dilireba for trying different genres and she did it again! This drama was so out of the box and amazing.

I'm ngl but I was super sceptical for the first 3 eps cuz this isn't my type for genre but once the base was set, the story took off so well. I was obsessed and literally couldn't wait to watch the new eps.

The acting of the cast is very good and Reba and Chen Xing Xu have such an amazing chemistry. Their banters, their romance, their kisses stole my heart away.

overall I think this drama is perfect balance of romance, thrill and action and I think everyone should give it a try.

I truly enjoyed this drama, the acting was excellent, the music added depth, and the chemistry between the main couple was captivating. Dilraba brought Nie Julou to life perfectly: fierce and independent on the outside, yet tender and vulnerable within. Yan Tuo complemented her beautifully, always offering his strength, support, and protection when she needed it most. Together, they were outstanding throughout. The story, however, felt a bit uneven: slow in the middle but rushed toward the end. There were so many unanswered questions, especially about the earth fiends, Lin Xirou, Xing Shen, and the rest of the Southern Mountain Hunters team. The ending felt abrupt and left too much unresolved, which made it feel somewhat empty. I truly hope they release a second season to continue the story and give us a more complete conclusion, because ending it this quickly doesn’t do justice to the world they built. One more aspect that felt out of place was how the fiends seemed to overpower the hunters in almost every way. Their strength and abilities made the hunters look pitiful and even embarrassing at times. The fiends, having learned to live among humans, were portrayed as far more intelligent, adopting modern techniques and strategies, while the hunters remained stuck in their overly ritualized, old-fashioned methods. In a sense, it made sense that the fiends adapted quickly to human life and used modern approaches to their advantage as they were still learning about humans and gradually adopted to human's new way of life, but it also highlighted how conservative and limited the hunters appeared in comparison. While I wouldn’t call it the best drama, it’s definitely one worth re-watching.
