Low expectations at first - impressed by the end

I was never into phantasy romance dramas since I enjoy watching dramas which are closer to reality. I gave this one a try and damn… it’s just so good.

I think I might watch even more phantasy dramas just because this one hit my expectations so hard I might love watching others too ^^

I would recommend since it’s really heartwarming and at the same time crime and mystery.

I think there is enough for everyone and I think this drama is in my top 10 dramas for now.

I really enjoyed watching it and finished in about a week or less. I didn’t feel the time passing while watching it. It’s 16 episodes but definitely worth trying.

True love survives through the years for centuries

These 2 lovers must overcome many vicissitudes over 500 years to finally be together. A serial killer also has a hand in it.
The effort this young vet puts in to find her man (1000 climbs up the mountain) is commendable. As well as the desire to testify despite the danger.
I liked the wise child, a very cute and good actor.

why?

Why would a writer, with a fascinating story to tell, proceed to write it in such a ridiculous way that nothing about it makes any sense. It was frustrating, infuriating, even nonsensical at times. The makings for an excellent drama that would make even the most hard-hearted person turn emotional, and yet instead it was nothing but a mess.

Annoyingly every time there was a scene that should be suspenseful I instead was stuck thinking that the writer wished us to believe that every victim was just an idiot, all the police were bumbling fools, and that no one was even trying to solve the crimes at all.

The acting was superb, the cast did their best to make lemonade out of this lemon of a script.

Only the leads characters are good

1/ STORY:
A fairy Cupid lives a forbidden love with a human. It is the depiction of this forbidden love. How it happened and what were the consequences. Will they manage to break the curse and be together?

2/ WHAT I LIKED
- The two lead characters, their personalities, how they got together, how they discovered the truth about their common past...

3/WHAT I DID NOT LIKE
- The thriller plot. It was convoluted and messy and repetitive.
- The romance throughout time. Hard to follow as we are spoon-fed by flashbacks. Gods's actions and discourses hardly understandable or logic.
- Second couple is a joke and finally not a couple.
- No endearing character apart from the lead couple. BFF is uninteresting. Fairies are useless. One of them is a liability occupying too much screentime for nothing.

4/ ACTORS:
- Good acting from the lead actors but good actors can't save a bad script.

5/OST: Good enough

6/ REWATCH VALUE: None

7/ OVERALL: Only the cute romance between the present version of the lead couple kept me following this. Their version in the past were in overly complicated convoluted situation. This drama was a mixture of many genres historical fantasy serial killer comedy ... that made it hardly digestible. Honestly, it is a disappointment, and I cannot recommend this drama. 7.5/10.

Wooden male lead, annoying female lead. Lacks lead chemistry

I would have rated it higher, but
1) female lead's character being so annoying it was hard to like her. And her attraction to male lead is a hard sell
2) she went up the mountain 1000 times (= 1000 days!) to pray. Then at the end of the series there is a 1000+ day time skip as she goes up the mountain AGAIN (that many times) to pray ! (yes there is a reason, but consider: that's ALOT of time !!
3) after becoming human, what DOES a former immortal do ? apparently nothing. Big plot hole there
4) Male lead never sells his side of the romance. His expressions, or range of them, was lacking.
Not a horrible drama, nor a waste of time, but really, I never warmed up to any of the characters or cared much about thier relationships.

Romcom, Fantasy & Murder Mystery.

I liked that the story has a fantasy & a murder mystery in it. Anything with fantasy or mystery I'm going to watch it for sure.

Poor Chun Sang Hyuk doing all the household work.

Chun Sang Hyuk looked cool when he walked & stood on the car bonnet with a gun.

Poor Chun Sang Hyuk on his first meeting, he had to carry a drunk Oh Baek Ryun.

Oh Baek Ryun keeps on cursing Cupid in front of Chun Sang Hyuk.

Laughed how Oh Baek Ryun was smelling Chun Sang Hyuk body.

Chun Sang Hyuk saved Oh Baek Ryun from a fallen jar & she checking him if he had been injured or not scene was sweet.

The sudden hug & peck on the cheek uff.

Oh Baek Ryun worried seeing an injured Chun Sang Hyuk.

The way Chun Sang Hyuk, Chun Dong Pal & Chun Dong Koo shouted & reacted after their dog ate chocolate was funny.

Chun Sang Hyuk's friend's reaction when Oh Baek Ryun said he is Maknae.

It’s sweet how Chun Sang Hyuk checks all the food before Oh Baek Ryun eats.

So cute the way Chun Sang Hyuk made sure Oh Baek Ryun is saved & feeds her. An Do Ra getting jealous seeing it.

Jealous Oh Baek Ryun after seeing Chun Sang Hyuk serving An Do Ra.

The amount of humiliation Oh Baek Ryun was after Chun Sang Hyuk continuously saying that he didn't like her.

An Do Ra reaction after hearing Oh Baek Ryun's ridiculous story. It looked like she wanted to kill Oh Baek Ryun at that moment.

Oh Baek Ryun trying to make Chun Sang Hyuk jealous was funny.

Laughed at Oh Baek Ryun's new look & Chun Sang Hyuk & Seo Jae Hee's reaction.

Chun Sang Hyuk looked so cute while explaining his feelings.

Laughed my ass off when Oh Baek Ryun said things after she woke up from coma ep10.

Jealous Chun Sang Hyuk is cute.

That is true, only child can feel lonely. 🤣🤣🤣

I wish they involved Chun Sang Hyuk's friends more into the story. Mainly in the murder mystery case. They should've explained more about Chun Sang Hyuk's past. Especially how his relationship started with Lee So Hee.

Multi-Genre Fantasy Romance With Great Balance

Let's clear the air first: because this was made for Amazon Prime, it automatically sidesteps that aggressively OTT, dramatic-gasp energy we usually get from traditional Korean network broadcasting. My Man Is Cupid is clearly aiming for a slightly different, Western-adjacent vibe. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not. Just different.

But consider this your official public service announcement: do not go into this expecting a heavy, cavity-inducing romance. The writers threw romance, a cosmic mystery, and a literal serial killer crime plot into a blender. Surprisingly, they gave all three subplots the exact same amount of screen time. If you don't manage your expectations about that genre-mashup going in, you're going to confuse yourself. However, the romance is definitely a K-drama style with very high stakes and a heart pounding slow burn and it’ll be keeping you glued to your screen.

First off, the production budget was clearly budgeting. I was honestly shocked by how unbelievably crisp the picture quality was—my screen looked fantastic. The cast actually manages to balance the fantasy-thriller-romance tightrope, and when the comedy hits? It hits hard. You will actually laugh out loud at the funny moments, which are spaced out perfectly.

Let's talk about the couple. Jang Dong-yoon plays our resident Cupid, and he’s great. I loved him in The Tale of Nokdu, and his subtle performance here is just as solid. Nana is equally great as the female lead, and the chemistry works. Oh yes, it does. The got the kissing part down, for sure. Also, can we give a round of applause to the casting directors? Because Oh Baek-ryun’s character looked different in all her three lives, three different actresses played her. Revolutionary! Usually, K-dramas will throw a terrible wig on the same lead actress and expect us to believe the male lead is just blind for not recognizing her. Using different actresses made it actually believable that Jang Dong-yoon wouldn't know who she was because she in fact did look different in all her lives. More of this, please.

Look, I know this drama got highly mixed reviews. But at its core, it still serves classic K-drama absurdity. We have reincarnation, literal deities walking around a contemporary world, and completely unbelievable plots—everything we love.

The pacing is definitely on the slower, more subtle side, but it doesn't drag. It just takes its time making sure the side characters get their fair share of screen time. If you aren't looking for a groundbreaking, award-winning masterpiece but just want a nice, high-quality contemporary fantasy romance, give it a shot.

I personally enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The mystery kept on driving the plot forward and somehow this drama ended up impressing me quite a lot. Could just be Cheon Sang-hyuk and his wings. Either way, I don’t think My Man Is Cupid is as bad as some viewers make it out to be.

beautiful actors, cute plot, horrible execution

It repeated the same plot line as much as they’ve been repeating that one petal scene, mystery was meh, the past connection was so meh, 2ml was so annoying, this only worked on paper as an idea

basically a waste of the actors, cuz the idea was so cute, the actors were so cute, but each ep was worse and worse

Honesty is anything going on even? Beside the murder mystery, her chasing him, him denying his feelings and her being drunk? Every single ep is all those things in repeat

I mean jdy is making a cute ml, and they like each other but kdramas fear a happy couple so they keep dragging them apar

tinha potencial

uma boa história mas que foi mal executada, muitas partes eu senti que desandou no final. algumas cenas achei chatas, o mistério achei fraquinho. esperava mais.

Meh

"My Man Is Cupid" presents an intriguing premise with the character Cheon Sang Hyeok (Jang Dong Yoon) as a cupid on his 28th reincarnation mission to mend his wings. His matchmaking endeavors, particularly with Oh Baek Ryeon (Nana), a charming yet unlucky-in-love veterinarian, offer a unique twist. Despite its interesting mix of fantasy, mystery, and romance elements, the series falls short in its execution. The portrayal of Korean police as stupid may be resentment from writers and producers, and the abundance of plotlines, including mythical creatures, reincarnation, and murder mysteries, feels disjointed and overwhelming. The drawn-out crime and past-life mysteries, coupled with insignificant characters, detract from the overall viewing experience. Ultimately, while the show has its entertaining moments, its lack of cohesion and excessive subplots may leave viewers feeling frustrated and disconnected from the central storyline. The addition of unnecessary and uninteresting characters that contribute little to the overall plot, making an already convoluted storyline even more overwhelming. The inclusion of multiple cupids and a love triangle is deemed tiresome and unappealing. The recurring theme of pets becoming victims in the series is discomforting.

Despite these shortcomings, the main couple's chemistry is a standout feature that kept me engaged until the end. The lead actors' performances and the background music are highlighted as the show's redeeming qualities.

However, I find the ending lacking in originality and excitement, and I feel that it falls short after a promising buildup. The repetitive nature of the conclusion is noted as a drawback, leaving me unimpressed.

In summary, while "My Man is Cupid" struggles with superfluous characters and a cluttered narrative, the strong chemistry between the main leads and their performances, as well as the soundtrack, elevate the viewing experience. Despite these positive aspects, the unsatisfying and repetitive ending detracts from the overall impression of the drama.

this drama could have been a 10...

Overall this drama was really my style. Without doubt one of the best thriller subplot I have ever watched in a kdrama. The killer mystery was just the best ever, and the police team among my favorites for this genre of kdrama. The chemistry between the two main leads? Incredible. The slowburn? Great. But... what was that end... I was really disappointed by the end... like up until episode 15 I was so glued to the screen my eyes were hunting. Episode 16 felt directed by a whole different person I don't get it... I love this drama but will forever be bitter but that rushful and exaggerated ending. I wanted the two have a happy ending however, there were so many other ways they could have done it without ruining it so much.

sumpah selama nonton salfok sama jeong ah tiap scene tuh sekilas mirip winter, secara keseluruhan ini oke sih banyak yang bilang ceritanya muter-muter tapi bagiku biasa aja cukup sat set sama nana cakep banget anjir. harusnya 2 cupid lainnya dijelasin juga loveline nya terlalu lama di cupid tua itu harusnya bisa rata sih, jujur mendekati ending udah agak kurang sreg soalnya udah ketebak banget jadi di banyakan skipnya tapi jujur ini fun banget sih tapi sangat disayangkan character development nya ga merata ke cupid lainnya
