Somewhere in a smelly, messy apartment in Seoul there's a band of misfit cupids. They lost their wings 500 years ago in a Joseon Era world-class screw-up. “Do you ever think that woman was reborn? The one who caused all our trouble?” “I'm sure she's probably been reborn several times over by now.” Their arrow missed, the intended couple ended up ill-fated, and the Cupids were demoted. They're working their way back; their progress is marked by a golden arrow on the mantle. Once they turn it completely gold again their status will be restored. The Cupid who actually shot the arrow is now in dog form most of the time. He snaps in and out of it as their redemption draws near. Unfortunately, it happens at the worst times, like on a date or while in the veterinary office.
MMiC is a 2023 release that is rated 89 on AWiki. It is 1 season consisting of 16 60-minute episodes. It hypothesizes that fate doesn't know everything. It's not perfect. Neither is this show. I liked the characters and many of its elements, but it not only doesn't have sufficient content for even 10 episodes, it Isn't tight enough. It's not exciting enough. It's not funny enough. It's not romantic enough.
Obviously, from the premise, it's clear that this isn't a serious show. The backdrop Is a murder investigation with hooks that are latched into both of our leads as well as the detective investigating the crimes, Seo Jae Hee (Park Ki Woong of The Bridal Mask, Rookie Historian-7.6, and the unfortunate Pandora: Beneath the Paradise-3.9) plays the detective. He was a king in a former life, and he was fated to be with our FL then, but the arrow missed and e'erthing went bollix. His story is actually tragic. 💘🔺 alert! They can't seem to help themselves.
Jang Dong Yoon (Daily Dose of Sunshine-7, Please Be My Ear) is our Cupid, Chun Sang “Hyuk”. Most girls wouldn't want a fairy boyfriend, but dang, he smells nice. Our FL comments on his pleasant redolence often. He's alittle tired, about now; it's been a long 500 years. He actually opines in ep1 that 💘 is a curse.
When a coworker offers a ticket to the Cupid Exhibit, saying ‘maybe you'll get shot with Cupid's bow’, our FL replies: “They better not show up in front of me. They have a lot of explaining to do.” Broken finger, struck by lightning, massive blood loss, choking - all were the FATES of her various boyfriends. Every attempt at love has been cursed - since she was 9. Nana (Confession, Kill It) is our FL, Oh ‘Baek’ Ryun. She's not gluten intolerant - she likes her Tteokbokki made with wheat flour. She's beautiful, but deadly, by no fault of her own. She became a veterinarian to counterbalance the unintended harm she's done. ‘You committed a grave sin in your past life. You've been living lonely lives for 500 years. Go to the top of Inwangsan cliff and beg for forgiveness for 1,000 days. On the 1000th day, your true love will appear. A man who knows the past will come to you.’ So the fortune teller tells her. That was 3 years ago. It's no small task, but she was convinced to do it. In the meantime, she keeps running into this weird dude. He's handsome, but his aura screams there's much more going on with him. When she realizes how sturdy he is - he came out of an extreme experience that should have almost killed him, yet he had nary a scratch - she's undone. She attacks. A whole life of bottled up frustration springs from her lips onto his… his cheek. I thought she was going to go for the gold, but she opted for silver.
It seems like Gong Min Jung is in everything I see, lately. In MMiC she's An Do Ra who is, once again, the BFF of the FL - a common role for her. I've seen her in Marry My Husband-7,5, Daily Dose of Sunshine-7, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha-8.2, My Holo Love-6.8, and not too long ago, the marvelous Familiar Wife-8.5. She and her secondary romance are the best thing in MMiC, but it's not enough to make it fly.
Moon Ji Hoo (Single & Ready to Mingle) as cupid Chun Dong Chil is transformed into a sweet golden retriever. He assumes human form only sporadically. The Ladies LUV him, much to the dismay of cupid Chun Dong Koo (Park Myung Hoon from Ssanahui Sunjeong, Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area, & Crash Landing on You-9.1) who is the more muttley (and muddled headed) of the two. Muddled headed people need love too. They make this poor guy wear polka dot sweaters😱! Most wouldn't make a dog wear that! The sweaters must be a tie-in to the ‘polka dot murder’ case in the show. Eom Se Ung (Govengers, Triple Fling, Best Mistake) is cupid Chun Dong Pal, but they, pretty much, waste his part. Kim Pub-Lae (Children of Nobody, Bad Man) has a voice for the ages as the fate god, Samshin. The directors are Myung Hyun Woo (Miracle) & Nam Tae Jin (Lovers of the Red Sky), and the screenwriter is Heo Sung Hee (One More Happy Ending).
“My dear friend, you are in love. You are suffering from a new pain. It's getting darker in your head. But it's getting brighter in your heart.” Baek leaves no space for misconceptions. She likes Hyuk. He isn't thinking in those terms, however. Actually, he's actively resistant to it. He's interested in her as a person, though he doesn't let himself delve into the reasons why. He spends time with her. He goes to the veterinary clinic. Her hopes are up. So, one day he tells her: “I'm the man you're looking for. Trust me.” Her hopes soar until she realizes what he's about from his next sentence: “I'm going to find the Perfect✨Mate for you.” (He's cupid, after all ~> that's what he do). He can't understand why that got her so angry. She tells him what she wants in a mate, (it's not what she wants, it's an impossible list devised to make him give up). He tries to send her prospective mates based on her stated parameters: She rejects them all. He's very confused. That's only fair; she's confused too. Viewers each have h/h own tailor-made buttons. MMiC pushed none of mine, romantically. It never takes flight.
There's truly lovely filmcraft and special effects. This is not a low budget feature. They have a meal together, though it's not officially a date. Afterwards, when she tries to keep the relationship going (he shuts her down), she storms off. Later that night they're both in bed having a tantrum. He is sleeping in charcoal gray sheets with light colored pajamas and she's in a charcoal gray dress against light colored sheets. The optics are quite nice in that scene, which is a ying & yang representation. At this point, she hasn't even completed her 1,000 prayers. She still has a few days to go. The music is REALLY good. Gorgeous piano music is the usual background. Shazam didn't work. I made at least 3 attempts for 3 different songs, but got no results. The Playlist will probably show up on Spotify eventually.
If you can do 1000 trips, you can do 2000. The main theme is power of the will, for good or for not-good. “From now on, I'm going to fight against my destiny,” claims Baek. I like that. Don't accept things just because you've been told “it can't be done.” Unfortunately, the message gets muddled. There's some golden arrows pointed at the audience, though. An Do Ra, Baek’s roommate, does a dating podcast and also teaches classes. She makes a lot of mischievous jokes, but when she's giving serious advice almost every word is golden. “An emotionally guarded man isn't attractive.” “Clothes are the most basic means of respecting yourself. When you wear something that suits you, you feel good to start with.” She's not going to teach dating skills, she explains. She's going to teach personal appeal. Finding our personal appeal is about making us the best version of us and not focusing on tricks or others. Working on ourselves is always the answer. Every word is a keeper.
And now for the quiver of misses. On a snowy night, An Do Ra invites Hyuk up for a drink with the two of them. The whole sequence is a constant stream of Do Ra doxing and teasing them. It should've been cute, but it's too silly and it didn't sit well. In flashbacks to old Joseon and prior lives, the two MLs are fighting over a girl. They use a different actress (Kwon Ah-Reum of Missing: The Other Side S2 & Body Parts). She's fine in the role, it's just unclear why they use a different woman when the men are the same actors. When cupids are fading out for a metamorphosis they can't pick up physical objects or turn doorknobs, but one of them beats up some guy in a bar. That's inconsistent. In ep15 we get an information dump with new parameters and rules they never hinted at earlier. That isn't good writing. It lacks complexity and makes it look like they are making things up as they go. As the episodes rolled on, this show kept my interest less and less. I really enjoyed the secondary romance and the dating school sequences, but everything else floundered. I cannot point to many specific negatives, there's just a dearth of positives. It's more like a broad outline that moves from point to point without engaging the heart, quite ironically. This goes beyond not having sufficient content for 16 episodes because it never even spreads its wings. MMiC is terminally average. The best I can say is that it will fill the time, but I'd rather watch any of my recommendations listed below again, rather than MMiC or the first time.

4. TROPPI personaggi per nulla e per niente approfonditi. A partire dagli amici cupidi di cupido, all'assassino.

What is the FL acting?
The one thing that I hated the most about this drama was Nana’s acting, I would’ve given it a way higher rating if the FL was another actress. Her acting is so mediocre, like I get it she’s beautiful but is that enough to be a FL in a drama? She has 2 facial expressions in her repertoire, a creepy smile and mouth open soulless eyes. She never truly conveyed with her face the things she said, everything felt flat and insincere with her, I almost dropped this drama because I couldn’t stand how bad her acting is.Now about he actual story…I like the premise but there were so many plot holes and the pace was kinda messy left with a lot of questions. I usually get annoyed with the romcoms that have that “we knew each other in a past life/when we were children” type of storyline but in this one I found it so endearing how they kept finding each other in every life time she had, it’s so cute.
I wanted to see more of the story around the serial killer, we know right at the end who he is but wanted to see how did he hid that from his wife? Did he ever get to know the FL when she was at the orphanage? Was he part of their lives 500 years prior as well? How did he know these women he killed? Who was helping him? How did he get into the prison? How did he know all the suspects and when the police interviewed them? Like his story was lacking a lot, the story was around the killing but at the same time they didn’t focus much around that? Just messy.
I actually liked how the relationship between the FL’s best friend and the other cupid was developing, it felt so sincere and just adorable I was hoping he would come back and be with her even if it’s not allowed. Also wanted to see more of the other cupids after their metamorphosis, did they come back? They stay living with the ML even after he became mortal? Their story sort of didn’t have a conclusion.
I also hated the time jump where they suddenly have a child and then they don’t show what is the life of all the other characters, were the other cupids back? What’s of the life of the best friend and the SML?
Overall I liked the story they were trying to tell but the execution lacked a lot, it didn’t felt linear and had a lot of plot holes. Wouldn’t rewatch it at all, just a mediocre drama that wasted a storyline with good potential.

solides Drama
sorry my english is awful....
Google Traslator:
No idea why this drama has a worse average rating than others. It's a solid drama that can definitely compete with others of its kind. Unfortunately, I also let myself be influenced a little by the opinions. Because of this there is a lack of chemistry between the actors. You should watch the series to the end before throwing out such opinions. The chemistry is right from the moment the protagonists get closer to each other.
This series has everything you need for a good drama... an (unpredictable) exciting story, likeable characters, a love triangle and heartbreak.
With a rating below 8, I would have at least expected a bad ending... but that's not the case either.
I've seen a lot of trash, but this just isn't one of them.

(Mild spoiler) Cute but with a pretty heavy dose of trauma and some plot holes/weirdness
Executive SummaryWatch it. It’s really pretty good and has a very nice ending. I don’t agree with the very low ratings, although it is not a “great” series. Fantasy is not my thing, but I did enjoy this series.
There is a mystery running throughout the series and they don’t reveal what is really up until near the end, and it was a bit of a surprise. So they did a good job.
The cast is great, especially the main couple (Nana and Jang Dong-Yoon) and the FL’s roommate (Gong Min-Jung). The main couple is pretty dour most of the time, because of their sad past. And that may be why some folks think the main couple lacks chemistry. But what makes the series work, for me, is that the lighter moments are really cute. When the FL is happy she lights up the room and steals the show! I would love to see her in more of a RomCom role where there is more happy and less sad. I think she would absolutely knock it out of the park in such a role. I’ll cross my fingers :-)
(Spoiler Alert)
And super extra points to the writers for giving us quite a few minutes of happiness at the end, and glimpse into the future of the couple after they are able to reunite. We need more of these types of upbeat and more complete endings. Yay!

Drama with no boring episodes
Disclaimer : It's my own pov so please don't judge as everyone has their own taste. My man is cupid , this drama I agree there's some overlapping plot like past life connection but the whole drama was a 9 / 10 because I have seen many dramas like King the land , A good day to be a dog , My demon I dropped these dramas mostly at ep 8 or 9 because i found the storyline to be repeated somehow or there wasn't any spark to keep going . Past life connection is a trend these days in k drama but we shouldn't judge the drama because it has this plot , a good day to be a dog and mg demon has past life connection too but the story line isn't worthy enough. My man is cupid has NO BORING EPISODES !!!! It's such a crucial point to have no boring episodes because people do drop dramas due to this thing. The way how each episode kept me awake , made me use my brain cells to solve the mystery . It's a very good drama to watch if you need romance but a bit less and a good storyline to keep u invested throughout the drama. Because sometimes in a drama only romance drops Its points. Ahh for the rewatch I think i would rewatch it again after 1 year or so..

Not recommended
This is the first drama I really wished that the ML won't fall for the FL. There was no chemistry at all at least I couldn't feel anything. I started because they are soo good looking .. ended the drama just cause I wanted to know why the killer committed the crimes but I wasted my time! Such a bad plot with unnecessary scenes. don't waste your time over it.Was this review helpful to you?

Not Good Enough
Korean Drama '' My Man is Cupid '' is a fantasy romantic comedy. The concept of the story, though unique, was quite idiotic overall. It wasn't well executed, though the group of fairies offered many funny moments and their chemistry was spot on. A chemistry that, unfortunately, the main couple didn't have. Therefore, their romantic moments were awkward, which was aided by the absorbed behavior of the main female lead who often acted out so strangely towards the main male lead that more often than not baffled him and the audience as well.
Other than that, the mystery case was pretty intense and interesting.
The performances were okay as well.
So, overall, three out of ten.

Can't believe they left me hanging
Really enjoying this, wasn't sure at first but looks like we will need a season 2 for all these unanswered questions. I'm OK without the awkward side stories of the awkward cupid, i would have preferred some other people's side story. Maybe the prince and his scheming family and how he fell for his first love but oh well. Maybe how the 4 became cupid etc. .Season 2, hurry up. I binged on this all weekend and i was left hanging.

Pathetic FL and Selfish ML
I'm trying to like this show but my interest in started dropping by Ep 4 and it took me a while to pick it back up again Ep5.The FL becomes annoying as she comes off not only as desperate but almost obsessed and pathetic towards the ML. Of course, it's easy to see that she gets mixed msgs from the ML but even though he rejects her, she doesn't give up.
Then we have to watch this cruel deity and a foolish "fairy", the ML, just basically hash it out for what? Because the ML accidentally shot himself with his own arrow and fell in love with the wrong woman? Makes no sense that the deity wouldn't be able to lift the spell of the cupid's arrow. Whatevs. Why is that deity, (God of Fate),such an a-hole anyways?
Then about the ML...You would think that after living 500 years in punishment and also cruelly subjecting his friends to the same punishment, that the ML would learn a lesson. Even after the fact that two women that he opened his heart to not only died, but one was viciously murdered. But did he learn his lesson? Nope. Apparently not. His selfishness stirs up more trouble. Not only he is selfish in regards to his friends who are suffering from the same punishment but his selfishness towards the lives of women who have died or who are in danger because he opened his heart to them. After the murder of one of the women, you'd think he would self-sacrifice his feelings to prevent any future tragedies and murders, but it's apparent that it isn't heading that way. It also makes no sense that his friends don't seem to concerned that he might fall back in love.
The perilla leaf scene and the FL getting jealous of her friend being helped is the stupidest, childish writing. I don't get how she's supposed to be a grown, career woman but she acts like a highschooler in love with her crush. Her character is so immature and childish. The ML specifically tells the FL not to go out and of course, she goes out. Why are they making these women so dumb? I'm also so over this FL being drunk all the time. It's too much. Alcoholism isn't attractive. I'm losing count how many times she been piggybacked home. It's such a writer's cop out and an excuse to add unnecessary kissing scenes. Why not just be sober and courageous at the same time? This is just lazy writing to me.
Worst of all, the storylines and genres of this drama goes all over the place. One minute we see the past Joseon era, then there's present time and the recent murder, then it goes back to that past of the other murders, then there's the love triangle, in the Joseon past and present time, then there's the FL and ML rom-com antics that seems so out of place. Their characters are so immature at most points all the while there's a serial killer on the loose. And then we go back to past lives and back and forth all over the place. Then the deity shows outta nowhere. Then there's the ML's useless friends and what's the point of the dog turning back to a human sometimes? After 500 years, you'd think that all these guys would be very wise, mature and serious. But apparently their lives just seem to be spent being lazy and good for nothing but basically shooting love arrows. Even that whole storyline gets randomly put in. We stopped hearing about the punishment being over soon, then it's back on topic. So when exactly will the metamorphosis happen? Also, the ML being a cupid, sometimes they want you to think he's powerful but you can't take him seriously because he looks so young and his actions are often immature.
It feels like mutiple different writers wrote different versions of this drama and they mashed all the ideas together awkwardly and while it lies in a messy pile, they randomly pull out scripts.
I'll update my post at the end if I can make it that far without dropping it. Finished ep6 atm.

So Brilliant
This was brilliant….. Just loved the writer’s ability to tell the background story whilst in modern day times without too much tooling and froing. The actors also did brilliantly. Love love loved both Nana and Jang Dongyoon, they made me stay. Their chemistry is EVERYTHING, hoping for more projects of them together. They compliment each other really well!!. Side characters had such great character development as well. I cannot fault the director on this one. So so good, rewatch value a 10/10Was this review helpful to you?

Low expectations at first - impressed by the end
I was never into phantasy romance dramas since I enjoy watching dramas which are closer to reality. I gave this one a try and damn… it’s just so good.I think I might watch even more phantasy dramas just because this one hit my expectations so hard I might love watching others too ^^
I would recommend since it’s really heartwarming and at the same time crime and mystery.
I think there is enough for everyone and I think this drama is in my top 10 dramas for now.
I really enjoyed watching it and finished in about a week or less. I didn’t feel the time passing while watching it. It’s 16 episodes but definitely worth trying.
