Cute
I mean, I don't know how else to describe this drama. The romance is cute, the village dynamic is fun, the actors are good. It's just so cute. It's not anything absolutely ground breaking, in fact it's got quite a few kdrama romance clichés(they knew each other as kids, male best friend is the second lead, etc) but it was cute and I didn't really mind it. I think this is a great drama for beginners or for anyone who loves cute romances. Also if you liked Hometown Cha Cha Cha then you will probably like this as well. Overall I highly recommend you watch it, it's a mood booster and a fun watchWas this review helpful to you?
What a sweet show!
This is a darling show if you are looking for no angst, cuteness overload, sweet and quirky characters. I'll say right now, to get it over with, that I did end up scoring down slightly due to the introduction of the ex-girlfriend. I'll tell you why - I absolutely hate how writers always bring in the woman that broke the guy's heart and then comes back years later, sees that he's interested in someone else, but still does everything she can to get him back. I was especially irritated in this show, because it was going on so well, just being driven by the characters in the small town. The small-town feel, everyone knows everyone else and is all up in everyone else's business. Some of the characters seem a hamburger short of a Happy Meal, which adds to the charm. The pace is purposely slow, letting you get involved in their lives. Here, too, is where the writing let me down. The ML going on about how much he had loved the ex-girlfriend and she broke his heart and he never thought he'd love again. Just my opinion, but to me that truly decreases the romance value, like the way he felt about the FL wasn't that special. Again, just my opinion.I could expound for days on how cute the ML and FL were together. Any scenes they were in were bright and lovely. And once they finally admitted they liked each other, well, let me just say that my cheeks were hurting from smiling so much. I would potentially watch this show again just to see the progression of their relationship. One bad kiss, but they definitely improved on that. The ending was a tad rushed, as tends to be the norm in Asian dramas.
The kid "couple" was a treat - it was kind of like watching a parallel relationship alongside the leads. They didn't see the similarities, but we, as the audience, got to see and enjoy that.
The music was beautiful and added to the almost ethereal mood of the town and its people. This was truly a wonderful show.

Watch And Relax
This reminds us that sometimes taking it a littler slower and taking a break from social media is not bad. I am much older and remember does day. I like the importance to help our neighbors and thinking of the food we eat and what does it contain. I enjoy the cute romance and the love triangle. I did not like the 2 episode that bring in and ex-girlfriend and that she is obsess with making the lead male actor hers all of the sudden. I do not know ay women who break up with an ex and moves on. believing that she can come back and force him to make a relationship start again. I do like the story and the actors performance was really good. nice one to watch with friends. Was this review helpful to you?

a simple and wholesome drama, with lots of animals!
This was such a cute drama! It's really wholesome and it makes you get your mind off of things. It's perfect for animal lovers. But it's also not the best drama out there! It's a simple, mid one. The FL was a really cute cop and the actress did a great job. Can't say the same about the ML. I guess he didn't have much experience cause he looked really stiff and awkward but i could also be just wrong and maybe thats how his character was supposed to be. They also didn't have much chemistry and i found many moments where they were simply just awkward.
Would i recommend it? Definitely. But I definitely saw better ones and there definitely exist better ones out there. If the acting was a little bit better and if there was something memorable in this drama, I'd have given it an 8 or even an 8.5.
But overall, it wasn't bad and i would rewatch it if i wanted to watch something light and happy!

lovely
it's so simple and cute and wholesome even the second lead was so nice and respectful and didn't cause much drama. the only problem here is that they copied the overall plot of hometown cha cha cha it lacks originality in this point which makes the whole show meh because I could watch htccc it's the same idea, better acting, more budget, and better story overall. other than that I think it's a sweet non cringey clichés that you'd love after a long day. it's nothing deep though so don't expect muchWas this review helpful to you?
Light and fluffy
Started for Choo Young Woo 🫶🏻 stayed to tick another box for the KDC ✅Nothing too impressive, but it was very fun to see CYW in a romantic lead role after watching Trauma Code. Secondary male lead was also very cute and well acted, but the competition is stiff. My first time watching Joy- unsure if it was the writing for her character or her acting but I felt very mid about her role. Overall, a very quick, easy, light watch, would be a good palette cleanser. And the puppies didn’t hurt either.

if the word "mid" had a drama, it'd be once upon a small town.
the story was kinda bland and the characters didn't really have much depth. yeah, both main characters are orphans but the script didn't go into it with any depth at all so it just felt like a failed plot point. like jinyuls parent's death was brought up a lot but it was just surface level which sucked soo bad. didn't get to see or learn much about the second male lead he was kinda just there most of the time. sooyoungs acting has improved tremendously but i do wish that her company would stop choosing to cast her in dramas with a shallow script. she has so much potential which is being wasted and its honestly so hard to watch knowing how hard she works her ass off. in conclusion it wasn't the worst thing in the world but i also wouldnt give it an academy awardWas this review helpful to you?

Cute and cozy drama ❤️
Super cute drama! iI was a bit annoyed with the FL in the first 1-2 episodes but started liking her afterwards.I loved the country side vibe, the small streets and the rice fields. It was very pretty and relaxing to look at. The nosy neighbors were kind of annoying as characters but don't let that out you off.
Both main actors are adorable and it's just a super cozy, sweet. I liked that there is no major dramatic incident happening so that makes it a very relaxing watch.
The soundtrack is also quite nice and relaxing.
100% recommended.

cute, homely romance
__*Once Upon a Small Town (2022)*__ 8,5/10 -kdramaok story is pretty basic and even its same rating from me I think Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021) did a bit better for this theme. At least even it got tag comedy at MDL I didnt found much of it here + it was almost one man show. Meanwhile hometown got excelent support roles.
this drama was very much carried by main female lead[Joy], like through drama I think I grew affection for women in uniform which I am sure I never had.
Ok enough joking truthfully her cute, klutz, smiling image doesnt really fit for policewoman work[like who would respect her?] still for work in small village it may work. Still her role was most enjoyable to watch in this drama.
__*plot*__ - ML works as a veterinarian in Seoul. He is popular for his face, but he is classic introverted guy which hates hassle. One day he got serious call from his grandfather from countryside. In hurry he arrives there just to discover he was pranked into being director of vet clinic in that countryside for half year in stead of his grandfather which goes on trip around world with his grandmother. In this countryside he meet super nosy pokicewoman which for some reason shows alot around him but at same time seems to have beef with him.
__*genre*__ - romance

Need a short, sweet, light romance? Give it a try, trust me!
Honestly the start isn't that impressive. Seems like a nosy FL, also those annoying aunties in neighborhood. I've been curious of this show since long ago though, and it's just 12 eps @30minutes. Nothing to lose to finish it. And glad I made a right decision :)The story is focused on the main couple's dynamics, which IS GOOD. No unnecessary side stories.
I like both of lead's characters. ML, I feel him at the beginning when he needs to adjust himself in completely new & different environment. He's quite an introvert that dislikes a sudden change, people cross his boundaries/privacy, etc. However he still has manner to be polite towards others. CYW's acting is good. He's stiff as he should. Even when talking to his Seoul friend, his expression & words is that efficient, lol. Also like his casual look. CYW is effortlessly handsome, his casual hair style is just fit with him.
FL, not a good first impression of her. Seems nosy, her look isn’t convincing as a police officer (her make up is on, also her well-styled hair despite her work that's almost always under the sun). But after 2 eps, I'm starting to get used to her characters and appearance. She intentionally puts her make up on, that's why. I like her combination of characters. She's cheerful, but she also has that calmness. She is bright like a sun, but she can be that gloomy. She's reliable and capable of doing anything but she also has that inferiority. I feel ML at the beginning, but later (til the end) I feel FL, I'm with her :)
The romance, it's a love quadrangle but luckily SFL and SML still have their senses, so rest assured, it's just a spice, not stressful :)
I also like that both ML and FL fight for each other's love. Not a one-sided fight, you know.
People can say anything, but to me the lead's chemistry is unexpectedly good!! ML and FL look naturally comfie and in love with each other. You know, ML's expression is stiff almost throughout the drama, but when he's having good time with FL, his smile melts, he can laugh, and his white teeth shows off (lol). It's a rare moment, don’t you miss it, lol.
The last, "What's the point of dating if you don't bother each other?" is the best quote from this show.

Just a simple, sweet love story
This was a nice and simple story to watch. No need to think too much. Sometimes sweet, sometimes funny. I did not expect any surprises at the time, It was entertaining enough, but the story itself could have been made more complex. First of all, I did not find the vet really having a hard time adjusting himself to this small town, being such a dedicated professional. Yes, it may be annoying to meet all these nosy town folks (which you will also find in other dramas), but it didn't end up being some kind of disaster. The other guy who seemed to be a rival was also not a strong enough character to cause any conflict in the story. But I do like the acting of the two main leads. Was this review helpful to you?
Short, simple, and sweet
The title says it all. If you're looking for something that's not too complicated or demanding, but rather lighthearted and sweet this absolutely hits the spot. With 12 episodes that are just over 30 minutes long it's not a big commitment, and in my opinion worth sitting trough.I do not appreciate that there is no cringe humor or what I'd classify as stupid jokes - you know, the cheap shots.
In the future I could see myself re-watching the series as a comfort watch, or to fill the gap while waiting for a different Kdrama to finish airing (I binge-watch rather then having to wait for the next installment).
