Set in 1926 during Japanese colonial rule, this Korean period romance follows Heo Su A, a 17-year-old maid sold into servitude by her impoverished family. After dreaming of a wounded whale, she discovers Kang Ui Hyeon, a severely injured independence activist, washed ashore and secretly nurses him back to health—risking her life in the process. However, a failed assassination attempt by his comrade leaves Su A mute. Determined to seek revenge, Su A travels to Gyeongseong, where she becomes entangled in the dangerous world of resistance fighters. Meanwhile, Ui Hyeon—an educated elite and covert operative skilled in espionage and codebreaking—struggles with his identity as the son of a pro-Japanese judge while dedicating himself to the independence movement. As their paths intertwine, both are drawn deeper into a fight that tests their loyalties, pasts, and hearts.
