Representation everywhere
Anyone watching this drama will feel represented by at least one of the characters in this series. This was a really good drama. It had mature topics, and a diverse group of characters. I loved the friendships in the series namely, our three amigos (Alex, Ew and Nim), (Army and Alex), (Kat, Liu and Rose). Really liked the romantic pairings as well. All characters/couples had their own flaws and issues but they end up working on it and eachother towards the end.
Overall, its just an all around feel good drama. I laughed a bunch of times and was emotional as well. Alex's actor did a fantastic job, along with the rest of the cast. The acting was just really natural.
Although there were somethings I didn't agree with in this drama (mainly - Jean's anger towards Alex for, imo, what didn't seem to be his fault, at least not his alone), I still enjoyed it all the same. The tone of the drama is very educative especially in the early episodes but it didn't feel too heavy, I really enjoyed those teaching moments too.
All in all, a very funny, mature and romantic drama with a variety of beautiful couples and a plot that keeps you interested.

Pleasantly Surprised
I didn't think I would have loved this as much as I did because it didn't seem to be my cup of tea, but I was really wrong. It was funny and cute, the story/plot was amazing, and the diversity of the characters was phenomenal; there was even a gay asexual (yes, there are gay asexuals. Although, they didn't use terms, but I have recently learned about the asexual spectrum). I highly recommend this show! Was this review helpful to you?

After months (months? sure) of hearing about how good this drama is I finally decided to watch it. Admittedly it annoys me sometimes when people are right, especially when they go gushy over something that is playing at the same time that something I prefer is playing and they totally ignore my thing, the jerks. That said, well. People were right. This show was great. I really loved it, and I loved all the ways it tried to challenge ideas surrounding sex, identity, kink, etc. Maybe not always entirely successfully, but the attempt was there and honestly, I loved how it seemed to be pointing out hypocrisy towards women in particular (there are several examples of this, but I am thinking particularly of how Jean was treated after the party vs. how Alex was. I love that the show made a point of explicitly stating how messed up the disparate reactions were, and how unfair. I also liked that despite following Alex as he goes on this journey, the show never attempted to pretend that he was the wronged party in that situation. Neither did Alex himself, which was refreshing). I'm not used to that from my shows, full stop.
I'm also just a sucker for a good time travel trope, and it always amuses me when the mostly decent kid travels and wakes up in this body of a huge jerk and then has to work back how the hell they got there. Watching Alex fumble through figuring out how the hell he landed on the career he chose, let alone wtf happened at that party so long ago, was kind of hilarious. I enjoyed the balance of humor and seriousness a lot. It kept the show from ever feeling too heavy.
One thing I have heard over and over and over again about Jojo is that he gets great performances from the cast, performances that feel authentic and real. I have to say that yeah, I get the praise. You know how with some directors you can see their hand in everything they do? Jojo is like that, I think, but his hand is seen in how little he's present in the overall product. It feels like he hands his cast a script, gives them a general idea, and then lets them do their thing and gives them room to explore their characters in an organic way. I'm sure that there is some management happening, that's his job, but mostly these characters feel lived in in a way that strikes me because so often it isn't there. Maybe it's a mix of his directing style and really good casting.
Speaking of casting, this one was excellent. I really liked everyone, but especially New, Fah, and Jan. New played Alex well - he's a character that I think could easily get annoying, but New managed to make him likeable more oft than not. Even when Alex was doing things I knew were stupid, I was more "oh, honey, no" than I was "you're the worst", so that was nice. Fah as Jean was just all around lovely, she played her so well. You could see the bones of the girl she was before everything went wrong in the woman she became, just a little harder, a little less trusting. But she stayed fighting for people because that's just the core of who she is. Her struggle with her desire to let go of what happened vs. her inability to do so was heart wrenching, and yeah, I guessed the big last secret fairly early on but one thing I liked (that I mentioned above) is that she was never ever once treated like she did something wrong. Oh, in show she got it in the teeth, but the show itself never failed to point out exactly how fucked up that was. Also Fah just did a great job and she's very, very pretty. I could watch her forever honestly. And Jan just continues to be a delight in everything I see her in.
After all this praise, I have to say I did find myself a little bit annoyed by the ending. It felt a bit too pat, especially after everything else was handled with such nuance. It was so weird to have Alex wake up and get to have his Scrooge turnaround because it was still Christmas after all. And some of the ways that he took care of things annoyed me, too. He came across as a little too "I know best for you" towards everyone's problems for a 17 year old kid. Which I get, he had all this knowledge from his messed up future under his belt, but I didn't love it. I did love his determination to be a better brother, though (another thing I loved? The fact that he helped Ice pull his head out of his bum w/r/t Kim's abortion choice in the messed up future. The fact that they had one of the male characters say, in no uncertain terms, that it's actually *her* choice and that being supportive means letting her make it, floored me, as did the fact that Ice actually listened and was fully supportive after his initial selfish freak out (and he admitted it was selfish! I couldn't believe it)).
I also felt like it would have been better to have a less entirely happy ending? Which is weird coming from me, since I love happy endings. But I really liked the message that sometimes there are things that you can't fix, some mistakes you can't take back, and then I felt like the show immediately undercut that idea by...letting Alex go back and make everything right. I think I might have appreciated the ending more had Alex stayed in the future after that last encounter with Jean. Then again I don't think *Jean* deserved having to be stuck that way, so there you go. For her sake, I'm happy it went the other way.
Overall I found this extremely enjoyable, and well, I can't say that I will be sad about Jojo's penchant for happy endings if that means that things go the way I want in other dramas. :D

i wish i coul rewatch for the first time
have you ever watched a show that once you finish you feel a void inside and cry cause you know you’ll never find a show that will everr make you feel the same???? well, this show will make you feel exactlyy like that. The warp effect is like a thailandese version of glee BUTTT better and more serious. I loveee the way that they talk about things that happen normaly and are often taken as a taboo topic. It will make you see things in the perspective of both teenagers and adults and you will DEFINITELYYYY identify with at least one of the charavters!!!! It’s honestly sad that people overlook it cause it is not a bl but IM TELLING YALLL its one of the besttt gmmtv’s showsWas this review helpful to you?

Started for New, but really worth watching!
I loved this series, it's really good❤️ It talks about very important topics in a perfect way, it makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes your heart beat. I loved all the couples and all the characters (Army has my heart❤️🩹) and I loved how it tackles sensitive issues and really teaches a lot. It’s like a thai version of Sex Education, but sweeter and with fantasy elements.I confess I started it for New, which I obviously loved here too, but I think it's really a series worth watching! Why is it so underrated?😭

A Thought-Provoking, Bold, and Emotional Journey
What would you do if you woke up ten years into the future, completely different from who you once were? Your closest friends have turned into your enemies, and those you once considered foes are now your allies. That’s exactly what happens in The Warp Effect, and it’s one of the many reasons why this show is such a compelling watch.I initially started this drama because of the time-travel element, but I stayed for the rich storytelling and the way it seamlessly tackled important social issues. Beneath its fantasy and mystery layers, The Warp Effect is a powerful sex education and LGBTQ+ representation drama that doesn’t shy away from difficult topics.
Alex, the main character, made a promise to his mom not to have sex until the right time, sealing it with a ring she gave him. However, one night, after getting drunk, he breaks this promise—and the consequence is a shocking time leap. Suddenly, he finds himself in the future, with a set of mysterious photos from his high school party, but they depict moments that haven’t happened yet. To restore everything to normal, he must uncover the secrets behind each picture and mend the lives affected by that fateful night. What makes this show stand out is that despite its sci-fi premise, it remains deeply character-driven. So, let’s dive into the characters.
Characters
Army & Jo: In high school, when they were caught kissing, Army distanced himself, leaving Jo to face the consequences alone. Jo was bullied, while Army remained silent. Years later, they meet again, and as they rekindle their relationship, it’s clear how deeply Jo’s pain still lingers. Their dynamic was handled so well—the actors truly conveyed their emotions. Seeing Jo’s discomfort and hesitation through just his expressions made their journey even more powerful. They were opposites in many ways, but together, they worked beautifully.
Jedi & Rose: I really liked them. They entered an open relationship in high school, but ironically, neither of them ever actually slept with anyone else. It was an interesting twist that showed their deep connection. They were meant to be together, and it was heartwarming to see them get married in the end.
See-ew & Liu: This couple was absolutely adorable. Their relationship started in an unexpected way when Liu kissed and slapped See-ew at the party. But who would’ve thought that See-ew had a thing for getting ordered around? Their dynamic was playful yet meaningful, as they faced struggles and misunderstandings but ultimately grew into a healthier, more understanding partnership.
Nim, Mollie & Bew: Nim and Mollie were together in high school but broke up, leading Nim to later date Bew. Bew wanted a child, so Nim became pregnant for her, but in the end, Bew abandoned her. Despite all the heartbreak, Nim and Mollie found their way back to each other. It was a complicated situation, but the two who love each other will find their way.
Alex & Jean: This was one of the hardest stories to watch. Alex’s actions at the party completely destroyed Jean’s life—she got pregnant, was slut-shamed, expelled, and had no one to support her. She was forced to go through an abortion alone, an experience so traumatic that it left her unable to have sex ever again. It was heartbreaking, and I felt so much relief when Alex finally returned to the past and made the right choice by not sleeping with her. She deserved so much better. Also who doesn't like a badass feminist FL!
Kat: I loved her. She was confident in her choices and openly communicated with her partners, making it clear she only wanted casual relationships. Yet, she still suffered a brutal consequence when a man, feeling rejected, physically assaulted her. This was handled with the seriousness it deserved—she had the support of her friends, who reassured her that she wasn’t to blame. Though it wasn’t explicitly confirmed, I really liked the subtle hints of a relationship between her and Tony. They had a great dynamic.
Ice & Kim: The musician couple had their own struggles, but their ability to communicate and support each other made their story heartwarming. They had a quiet but meaningful presence in the show.
Final Thoughts
When Alex finally returns to his original timeline, everything falls into place—this time for the better. He chooses photography instead of becoming a gynecologist, and Jean pursues her passion as a director. The final scene, where they create a film together with Mollie and Tony as leads, felt like a perfect full-circle moment.
I really loved the friendships in this show, Despite all the drama and struggles, the bond between the characters felt genuine and strong, making their journeys even more impactful.
And the music was incredible! It perfectly set the mood for each scene, guiding the emotions without feeling forced. A great soundtrack can make a huge difference, and this show nailed it.
The Warp Effect was raw, bold, fun, and educational. It wasn’t just about time travel—it was about how small choices can lead to massive consequences. The show explored identity, relationships, trauma, and the power of second chances in a way that felt real and impactful. If you’re looking for a drama that blends fantasy with deep, meaningful storytelling, this is definitely one to watch.

Ticked off all the boxes for me for a great series
What an underrated gem from GMMTV. The plot in MDL doesn't do justice to this. Never thought a show written and directed by males could be so progressive. This touched up sensitive and undiscussed topics in such a playful way and left with great morals. I not only enjoyed the show but felt great comfort while watching it. Very few shows can make you feel part of it. This did.It touched topics of sexuality, gender identities, inclusions and diversity. It showed female empowerment and also gave so much knowledge on STDs and STIs. It touched the topic of beauty standards and body shapes and sizes. Also about a very rarely discussed topic of various sexual desires and likes and dislikes of sexual positions. I love how not everyone is involved in a romantic relationship. It celebrates women being single and independent. It showcased the very tough topic of pregnancy and abortion and how the society forces/ expects women to keep the baby abandoning their dream.
Truly a gem. The actors did spectacular job. I love how each and every character got to shine in their own way. Everyone's story mattered and it was all threaded marvelously into the entire polaroid camera thing. It was playful, fun and at the same time ran way too deeper than most dramas ever did. Truly deserved the 10/10.

underrated, fun, educational
I preferred Alex as a doctor, but it was nice to see him realize his childhood dream. Even though he didn’t end up becoming a doctor, I hope he stayed friends with Army. It would be a shame if that friendship was lost. It’s also unfortunate that Army didn’t get the chance to have the child he wanted in this timeline, but being a mother never really felt like Nim's nature. If Army wants to be a father, he still has options—he could adopt or find a surrogate. Honestly, I think they would have made the perfect pair of parents—a gay man and a lesbian—it would be iconic! That said, the best thing is for them to take their time and not rush into anything, like they did in the previous timeline. This new timeline is definitely an improvement. This GMMTV drama was really insightful about today’s society. I appreciated how they addressed important but often overlooked topics like gender identity, sex education, consent, sexual health, women's rights, relationship abuse, and more.
It’s easily become one of my favorite GMMTV dramas. The story, characters, soundtrack—everything about it is amazing! Definitely one of the best from GMMTV for sure!

mixed feelings
i had mixed feelings about this serie, many people love this show and i can see why.. this show tackled serious matters, it mention many issues and it feel mature not silly which is something that i really lovedbut what i didnt like at all is, first im not someone who like comedy, i find some comedy funny but most of the time it doesnt, the other thing is that im not really into the plot of this serie so thats the issue, im not into plots about time travel, lose of memory and you having to figure out what happened which is what this serie is about, so thats why i dont find myself enjoying this, at some point i also started to feel bored, not sure if its because it started to be dragging or only because im not into the plot. def its not my cup of tea

Good mix but got boring
I like the idea of having a series that has a mixture of relationships male/female, female/female, male/male although by episode 6 I still yet to see a male/male focused relationship. It’s just too out there for the plot for me. I tried to hold on but it didn’t catch my interest at all.
There’s only 12 episodes and half way through there’s still nothing solid for the male lead. Everything around him is so ambiguous that half way through I don’t have a grasp nor an idea of what happened nor can I even imagine what happened. It’s too chaotic.
I dropped this series for that reason. It could have been a good one due to a clear representation of “love with no boundaries” if not done into a comical series.

Sex Education Thailand - A Different Attempt Taken By GMMTV
It wasn't planned that I would watch this drama. But when the first episode released I just couldn't control myself. Now if you have seen the first episode you will realize that that very one episode made this drama very very special. It was cute but complicated which will keep you till the end.As a early teenager when I found out what really sex is all about I felt really disgusted. But only later I found out most of the people did too. Haha
I have to say that all the characters were perfectly written. The concept was clear with a mystery in it. Which makes the drama more interesting is as we get to know each characters better each episodes. Many different topics were discussed in this drama. Especially different kinds of sexual preferences and how the society reacts to them.
Taking about the characters
