amazing thriller with a terrible ending

This show was a ride. Not only was it my first kdrama Thriller, it was also having an overall great premise. This show pulled me in from the very first second and I really loved every episode. Up until like the last three that were slowly ruining it all for me.

Story: I really love the "someone killed my sibling so I will go undercover to find the person who did this" trope and this show managed to give us a protagonist who was not letting herself be pushed around. She was smart and didn't put up with anything, but still had a kind heart. Chanmi was a real delight and a welcomed fresh breath of air after so many push-over main characters I endoured the last few weeks. She managed to be both a badass and a softie and I love her. Seonjoon was a very interesting character as well and watching him walk down the narrow path between seeking revenge for other people and just cruely beating people up to the brink of their death was chilling. This boy had to shoulder so much and my heart was breaking for him and his mother a dozen times in these twelve episodes. Jaebum was someone I didn't trust from the start. His amnesia seemed so oddly convenient and I've seen the plot twist "he's faking his amnesia" too many times, so I was always suspicious. But like halfway through the show I slowly warmed up to his charm and good nature. A mistake as it turns out, but more on this later. The supporting characters were great as well, making you feel for them and hate them, whatever the show needed you to feel. About the detectives... Well, let's just say that I have mixed feelings about them. I'm glad that they started to trust Chami more and more and were trying to work with her after realising that she was onto something. But at times it also felt very frustrating since Chanmi and we (the audience) were always one step ahead, so whenever they discovered something it was never a "oh!"-moment but rather a "finally!".

Acting/Cast: Almost all the actors and actresses were doing a phenomenal job, especially the main cast was really giving their all in their performances and it shows.

Music: Great. Just great. But kdramas rarely have bad or boring soundtrack, so no surprise here.

Rewatch Value: Up until now my review probably seems overwhelmingly positive, so you might think that my rewatch value is quite high, but not only am I not one to rewatch stuff easily, I also have very strong feelings about the ending and if it isn't satisfactory enough for me, it will immediately lower my rewatch value drastically. And as you can see from my rating, I will not rewatch this show any time soon.

The Bad:
- predictable plot twists. Okay, so this one doesn't have to be too bad, because if nobody can predict your plot twist than you have done a bad job at forshadowing it. But this show had so many plot twists that I have seen coming from a mile away and not in a "oh! I see! So this could happen!" kind of way but in a "lol maybe they pull x-twist, i hope not tho" and they did. Like my first thought was "why would Jihyun and Osung care so much about others knowing they are siblings? if they aren't dating, nobody cares" and well... guess what happened...

- characters suddenly turn dumb. This one was probably the most frustrating one. I had to watch Seonjoon and Chanmi accuse everyonea round them of murder for like ten episodes straight, they were pointing fingers at LEFT AND RIGHT, but when the culprit is RIGHT THERE they close their eyes. They literally have a conversation like: "Hey, the police says that the murderer probably used his left hand." - "Huh, that's good to know. Btw, Jaebum was acting really strange and he wrote his name with his left hand." - "Oh, you should ask him if he is ambidextrous." - "Yeah... anyway, back to the killer. So Osung-" LIKE???? They laid such a heavy focus on the left-hand-thing just for them to IGNORE IT?? What was the point of the shots of Seonjoon staring at Jaebum doing all these weird things just for him to NOT mention it to Chanmi or to not grow at least a little suspicious??

- all is forgiven. HOW?? Chanmi was ready to pull a gun on Seonjoon as soon as she suspected him of murdering his brother but all of a sudden she has a change of heart and forgives Jaebum. I know that some more time has pass and she learned to trust people and learned to love these people, yadda yadda. But she was ready to kill him and suddenly she forgave him completely. That seemed very unlike her and, after all we've been through, a little disappointing. And I'm sorry but I just can't believe that if someone would try to kill me and I wouldn't know who and someone was like "yeah it was this guy" I would WITHOUT QUESTIONING HIM FIRST OR ANYTHING just straight up go there to murder him??? Like how was that his FIRST THOUGHT?? And the way he kicked him wasn't him trying to be like "I will push you out of the window so you can have the same experience as me" but he full intended to kill him. Just good old coldblooded murder and we are just supposed to shrug it away. I know he was manipulated but just the fact that he was so ready to kill someone...idk idk

- is this an open ending or no ending? So, the thing with open endings is that they are pretty hit or miss. You can still get a sense of closure and satisfaction even if the ending is open or ambigious. But this ending felt like someone forgot to write an ending and came to set and made something up. I'm glad that they didn't kill-off Seonjoon in the very last few minutes because that would just leave a sour taste in my mouth. The characters all graduating and Chanmi just saying in a voice-over "btw he died, but live goes on" and then end credits... like no please don't. But since the very first episode we are told that he will die and he doesn't. He leaves school, get's together with Chanmi and that's it; "he's lucky for now". They are happy for now, both alive for now. But you know what, I can live with that, I can understand leaving it at that with them, since fans can now decide for themselves if they have many happy years in front of them or if Seonjoon died soon after. But with everyone else... no. What happened to Jihyun and her family after finding out the truth about her brother and seeing him literally die right in front of her eyes? What happens to Jaebum? Is he now "freed" or is he still mentally ill (we'll get to that in a second)? What about his family? What about the detectives? Are they just gonna accept that everyone pretends like this guy died of natural causes?

- everyone accepts that Osung died of natural causes. So you tell me that this school had like two dead students in a year and nobody is like "hmm, that's a little sus, we should keep an eye on them"?? The detectives arrive see that this guy apparently jumped from the roof and they just accept it with a "if enough people push the lie it eventually becomes the truth" like first of all...no that's not how that works and second of all that insinuates that she KNOWS that something's up but she CHOOSES to ignore it??? Good to know this woman has learned nothing from twelve episodes.

- Jaebum is possesed by a demon(??). Throughought this show we get many hints that there is something wrong with Jaebum. Him stating that he "doesn't remember stuff he did" and "remembers stuff he didn't do" was like an alarm bell going of. And I know that the "this super nice and sweet guy was actually the killer all along and is actually cold, evil, and bloodthirsty" is a beloved trope. God knows I do like it as well. But the way it was handled in this show... uff. First of all, I am really tired of the way people keep misrepresenting DID and make it into a Jekyll and Hyde situation. Just make him evil and say that he loves playing nice guy or something. Also Chanmi's speech of evil guy Jaejoon was truly something. Her saying "you are a demon" and "please let him free" was just...I was speechless. My girl, my man has a mental illness, he is not possessed by a demon. That's not how it work--well apparently that's exactly how it works in this show.

- the nice Jaebum being not so nice. Okay, so the thing is that everyone keeps telling you that Jaebum is a good person. Even when he literally killed someone, they say it's not his fault since he was manipulated and everyone forgives him. And I guess, yes, he does take responsibility once he's caught. We don't know what happenes after if his family just buys him out or if he talks about his illness or if he takes the blame for it all, we will never know. But what we do know is that Jaebum got his memory back of the incident quite early... like this man had some time to think. Time to feel guilty. You tell me this guy knew he killed a classmate and he just...went on with his life?? He knew he was the killer then looked Chanmi in the eyes and didn't immediately start crying?? The Jaebum who was so ready to jump to her defense all the time? The guy who was ready to cover up a murder for his friend(s)??? Also how did the fight between him and Osung end? They were ready to kill each other and suddenly they are both fine and went different ways?

- the full-circle-dilemma. I know that the whole school protecting Seonjoon was more a symbolic thing, to show that they really value him as "the hero" and that was sweet yes, if you don't really think about how unrealistic it is that not one single soul snitched. But even if you pretend that it's totally realistic for two hundred people to stick to one story and protecting a guy some hated and some loved, it still felt weird. It was supposed to be this full-circle kinda thing, a parallel to Wonseok's death and how everyone believed/accepted it to be suicide and nobody spoke up about it. But it didn't give me anything. And I know that Osung was a bad person and that some might think that he deserved it, but for me it just felt like history repeating itself and nobody learning anything.

- so who should've been the killer? So after this whole rent you might as yourself, well how would you have liked this show to end then? And I don't have a clear answer to that, since there were so many (better) possibilities. So many characters that could've made (a better) perpetrator. My personal favorite was Soyeon and Seonjoon as a team. At one point I even suspected a last plot twist that it wasn't actually Jaebum but Soyeon and Seonjoon who constructed the whole thing. It was mentioned so many times that Wonseok was someone many people wanted to see dead and maybe Soyeon and Seonjoon made that happen. And maybe Seonjoon didn't mean to kill Wonseok but just fight him and he accidentally fell out of the window or his anger spiked up because of his cancer and that's why he forgot it or idk. I haven't planned an entire alternative ending in my head, these are just a few thoughts that popped into my head in like episode 11 when I thought that maybe this show would pull a better twist.

Not Completely Satisfied

Decent Drama for me, very unsatisfied finale episode. Started Superbly and till E10 they kept the curiosity factor alive but after that a complete let down. Nothing is there to be honest in the end, Everything is predictable, that scene before the actual climax was crap🤧. I laughed a lot😝.

Plot wise Revenge of others was impressive at the start, because it was not like a usual stereo type kdrama actually something is different which you can all feel when you watch, am just only talking about the start but after 6 episodes it goes back to the usual style. No romance, but the leads look so adorable with their on screen chemistry. So many characters and a very complicated story with a revenge plot. Some scenes are really interesting. The screenplay is very engaging till some point and some portions are very dragging and felt unwanted.

Acting wise everyone did their part perfectly. I still don't get why they titled this as Revenge of Others. Because it doesn't suite after some episodes 😂

So overall Revenge of others was decent and followed the typical usual kdrama endings with so many compromises in the screenplay. It understandable if it is a tv drama but for orginals we expect something different.

Not completely satisfied.....

A Game of Truth and Revenge

Revenge of Others is one of those dramas that pulls you in before you even realize how deep you've gone. What might seem at first like a typical teen mystery quickly turns into a much darker and more emotionally layered story. It’s a revenge-driven thriller set in a high school, but it doesn’t rely on cliché tropes or flat characters—every episode adds something new, something that makes it harder to stop watching.

At the center of it all is Ok Chan Mi, a strong-willed and emotionally driven protagonist whose twin brother has died under mysterious circumstances. Her decision to transfer to his school and search for answers becomes the heart of the series. I appreciated how grounded and human she felt—she’s not a perfect hero, but she’s persistent, sharp, and deeply affected by grief. Her journey is full of emotional highs and lows, and it’s easy to root for her as she pieces together what happened.

The drama introduces several other key characters who each bring complexity to the story. Ji Soo Heon, for example, is someone who feels like a mystery from the start. He’s carrying a lot on his shoulders, including a serious health issue, and that influences his choices in surprising ways. His dynamic with Chan Mi adds another emotional layer to the show—there’s trust, but also distance, and you’re never quite sure how much he’s hiding.

Another important presence is Seok Jae Beom, a student with memory loss who struggles to understand his past and his place in the story. His confusion mirrors the viewer’s uncertainty, and following his journey adds suspense and tension. The way the drama slowly gives you pieces of his puzzle is really well done.

Of course, there’s also a character who seems calm and trustworthy on the surface, but gradually reveals a more calculating side. Without giving away too much, I’ll just say that this character keeps the tension alive all the way through. Their influence spreads across many of the events, and you’re constantly guessing how involved they really are.

The series also explores themes like justice, loyalty, trauma, and the blurry lines between right and wrong. No one is entirely innocent or evil, and that makes the characters feel real. Their pain, secrets, and motivations all feel believable, and as a viewer, you're drawn into their internal struggles just as much as the mystery itself.

Visually, the drama has a moody, cold atmosphere that matches the tone perfectly. The pacing is solid—there’s always something happening, but it never feels rushed. And the soundtrack adds a haunting, emotional backdrop to many of the key scenes.

The ending left me with a mix of emotions. It’s intense, a bit tragic, and also strangely satisfying. Some things are left open to interpretation, which I personally liked—it reflects how messy and complicated life (and revenge) can be.

In short, Revenge of Others surprised me. It’s not just about revenge—it’s about how people deal with loss, how far they’re willing to go for justice, and how unclear the truth can be. If you’re looking for a high school drama with depth, suspense, and emotional storytelling, I highly recommend this one. Just be ready to question everything—and everyone.

I must say that it is true that I enjoyed watching it, but

I must say that it is true that I enjoyed watching it, but it was a very average series. In general, it is not recommended if you have high expectations, but it is not a bad choice if you are without a series.
The story was not handled well, in fact it was not coherent
There were many unanswered questions
For example, when did you finally brake the bike?
It had many extra scenes
Finally, the character was not fully revealed
It was not clear why that happened to him
Overall, the theme and story were strong, but not well handled

Vengeance is Theirs ♨️ Serve it Hot °8.1° °excellent°

Hey, hold on a second…” Chan-mi's brother paused their conversation. She hears some shuffling and then the phone goes dead. She never talked to him again. The police ruled it a suicide. She knows that isn't what happened - and her brother's phone is missing.

She decides to transfer to his school for senior year to find out who the killer is. She's a competitive marksman, and she's able to transfer to the school shooting club. She rents a room in Seoul and buys a used scooter.

Soo “Heon” is a HS student and sometimes boxer. What he doesn't know is that he has a brain tumor - it's bad, it's inoperable, and it might cause personality changes. His scooter's been stolen and it's already up for sale. When he gets to the location, there's a girl about to ride away. That's how they meet.

RoO is a 2022 release that is rated 90 on AWiki. It is 1 season consisting of 12 60-minute episodes. I go into these shows cold with no intel; the rating is the only tip (I'm not yet ready to invest my time in something rated under a “6” - I'm late to the Asian programming game and I've got too many top tier titles to catch up on). That leaves me in a state of being open to /actively wanting to/ love it, but wary of disappointment. As RoO went on, I appreciated it more and more. It is ROUGH by Kcountry (or any other) standards. Ep9 stressed me out. It gradually became evident that this is an excellent drama, mystery, and thriller - with an above average romance tossed into the mix. RoO holds its own in the first half and then starts to get quite good in ep7. It is violent. Vicious. And intensely gripping.

Shin Ye Eun (Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born, More Than Friends-8) plays Ok Chan-mi. She grew up in an orphanage. Her twin brother was adopted around the age of 8, but they've kept up their relationship via the phone for years now. She isn't going to let his death go unanswered. The almost pretty but quite manly Lomon (All of Us Are Dead) portrays ML Heon. He's gotta be a good guy; he's good to cats. Seo Ji Hoon (Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency-7.4, Begins Youth, Solomon's Perjury) portrays Seok Jae Beom, the student who lost his memories because of an accident that he had the year before. He's the son of a chaebol. His mother is overly worried about him and he has a mysterious tormentor.

Chae Sang Woo (The Nokdu Flower) plays Gi Oh Sung, an entitled, condescending jerk who never lifts up the lives of anyone around him. He brings everyone down. Lee Soo Min (Twinkling Watermelon) is Kook Ji Hyun, the female version of Gi Oh Sung. She might even be worse. Jung Soo Bin (Rookie Cops, It's Okay!) Is erotically white-haired Tae So Yeon who is devoted to Heon because he rescued her from savage bullies. The screenwriter is Lee Hee Myung (Rooftop Prince) and the director is Kim Yoo Jin (Dog Knows Everything). I haven't seen their other works but Ima check ‘em out now. As for the music, You And I, by Ha Geun Yeong, is VG. Every element of RoO shines: Acting, directing, art, camera work, writing… RoO is a talent showcase. It hits all its targets.

Chan-mi brother's adopted parents had changed his name, so no one knows she's his sister. She has to walk a fine line between acting merely curious while keeping her relationship with the deceased a secret, lest she get fed lies and become a target herself. She starts asking around, but the answers she gets are far from what she expected. Her encounters with the adopted parents reveal people of the worst self-righteous sort. After reports of her brother's bullying make their way back to Chan-mi, she has to wonder if these people who raised her brother actually ruined him? Chan-mi also discovers that her brother had a secret he did not want others to know, especially in Kcountry.

As she continues to investigate it stirs up trouble. She is attacked. Circumstances keep Chan-mi and Heon running into eachother. He helps her, and she returns the favor with a bigger favor. Before long, they have an alliance, of sorts. Chan-mi doesn't reveal her identity or purpose, though, especially since everything seems to point to Heon as a possible suspect. There's clearly attraction between the two of them, so Chan-mi's turmoil is visceral.

Revenge is the theme. There are multiple parties seeking revenge, even when they have no justification for it. Justice is always proper, but revenge can destroy the one who seeks it. Often there is a fine line - some bleeding over. Everyone wants revenge, but sometimes people take revenge against an innocent party. Chan-mi is on the brink of making some dubious decisions and horrible mistakes. In the meantime, the show features a minor who stabbed a girl brutally because she wouldn't date him. He had no fear because he's a minor and Kcountry's laws are soft on the under-aged. A couple of students decide to fill the gaps left by the law and administer revenge… eh, justice ~> Harsh justice. Chan-mi is not the only character in RoO with a score to settle. It gets very tangled: Teachers, bullies, victims, police, siblings, crushes, plots, connected parents, political parents, the wealthiest parents, /gangsters/ and so many kids trying to cope.

At one point one of the gang is thrown into a van and driven off by bad guys. They decide to wait until the morning to tell the police, which makes no sense. This person is an imminent danger. The way it played out is exciting, so we can forgive them, right? In the end, when the killer is revealed, it is a touch underwhelming, but it is good enough… ✋Hold on! I wrote that too soon. That's just the /beginning/ of the end. The very end is very, very good! So stick with it.

RoO delves into the fact that we trust the police and government less and less in modern society. Ask someone under 25. The entire student body enters into a tacit agreement as RoO closes. They won't be talking to the cops. The bigger the group, the more likely there will be a weasel who spoils it for love of attention. So, the viewer is asked to accept a premise that would be extraordinary IRL. You'll have to watch to know what I mean. If one can roll with it, the emotional satisfaction is the reward. For the most part, RoO deftly manages impressive twists and turns. I'm not saying that no one can figure them out (I, myself, happen to be terrible at that😞). The writing is simply very skillful and brilliantly executed. RoO is a top-notch thriller, all-around. Get it while it's hot!

Not bad but not good

Somehow I have mixed feelings for this drama. there is so many I don't understand. Like, if gi osung and jihyoun has a relationship then why jihyoun likes jisoheon. Why jae beom thoughts that he and ok chankyu ( ok chanmi brother) has a relationship? I thought ML will die bcz of his brain tumor but it didn't happened. Somehow I disappointed because of some plot. Overall, the cast was good and the ost too

Intense, but hardly genius

There was good acting, good music, good hidden mystery. But when it went from story outline to actual scenes, it started to seem unrealistic and not always convincing .. There was also many shifts in story focus connected by the main thread - mystery behind Park Wonseok's death. Which did make it interesting, but I think it all opened up having more holes and weak logic.

And really, if I start talking about the police work I'll be here all day.

Overall, it's just an ok watch.. better to watch as airing drama I think - you'll forget to keep track of a lot of things.

Revenge of others

Hmm interesting that it is 18+ type of drama, I do not remember things to make it for this age, but I can be wrong. There are many serious topic as suicide, mental problems, bullying. But cast played really well, had great chemistry together. I like the plot twists, I like that it has only 12 episodes, it is perfect amount for this drama. But there are some questions unaswered - as for example his illness. But yes as far as it can sound weird with topics of drama I had fun watching this.

It was good. After episode 4, I couldn't stop watching it. Just like a true thriller I was hooked. It was unfortunate how little the characters were developed. Our Changmi kept the same attitude and approach throughout her search. The planned revenges were nicely done and thought so I was disappointed that all confrontations felt lacking in comparison.

Like many thrillers, the "plot twist" was a bit overused. Every event had its own plot twist. You can hardly see it while watching so I hope if you are seeing this before watching the show it doesn't stop you. In the end, this is a good show and I truly enjoyed it esp the first 10 eps of its run.

Obsessed, theorizing, and hooked — a thrilling ride with a messy ending

I dove into Revenge of Others like a detective on a mission — and wow, the show deserves all the obsessive attention I gave it. From episode 1, I was hooked: dissecting Osung’s jealousy, Sejin’s envy, Sooheon’s calculated revenge, and Jaebum’s cryptic behaviors. I analyzed hand movements, split-personality hints, hidden motives, and subtle interactions like a hawk. Every tiny clue felt meaningful, and the suspense kept me constantly theorizing.

The acting was phenomenal: Lomon as Sooheon gave me chills with every calculated move, Shin Ye-eun’s Chan-mi was fierce and relentless, and Chae Sang-woo’s Osung exuded that manipulative charm that makes you both love and hate him. The cinematography, especially the Osung vs. Sooheon fight, was cinematic perfection — tense, thrilling, and beautifully executed.

However… the ending was a letdown. After all the meticulous plotting and hidden secrets, the murder and truth were mostly revealed via school gossip, which felt like a shortcut after all the suspense. Chan-mi and Jaebum on the boat with the police scene was rushed, and the graduation scene left me frustrated — why didn’t Sooheon take pictures?! These missed beats slightly undercut the otherwise incredible journey.

Even with these flaws, the series was a masterclass in layered storytelling, character psychology, and suspenseful plotting. I loved theorizing about every character and their motives, and even knowing some spoilers didn’t ruin the thrill — the twists still hit hard. This is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys teen thrillers with hidden layers, obsession, and moral ambiguity.

Realmente prometeu tudo e conseguiu entregar!! 10/10

absolutely perfect

this dramas plot is carved out beautifully- twists and turns every episode, it leads you through a maze of who killed who, who’s the newest police suspect and what really happened with park wonseok. but said maze reaches a finalised conclusion that isn’t consumed with heartbreak and doesn’t leave loose ends hanging about. even when you think the murderer is obvious or the results is predictable, this drama finds a way to throw a spanner in the works and prove you wrong time and time again- this drama is a whodunnit, tinted with school life, drama and a slither of romance- i highly recommend you watch this, it’s a great binge!
