Indonesian migrant fisherman Abdul-Adl murders a fishing boat captain and his family. Indigenous public defender Bao Ju reluctantly takes the case, joined by ambitious legal aide Jin Ping and Indonesian nurse Leena. As they uncover evidence pointing to fishery owner Zhen Xiong, the team faces witness tampering, judicial bias, and internal conflicts. Bao Ju turns to his ex-lover, Minister of Justice Ling Qiu, for help, while Jin Ping and Leena grow closer. After losing the case and the key witness vanishes, Bao Ju races to stop Abdul-Adl's execution, but Ling Qiu signs off on it. With time running out, Bao Ju must find a way to save his client.
