Pachinko

Both are based during Japan's colonization of Korea and in the future. Both have jumpcuts between main character when they were a kid during Japan's colonization and main character right now, when they're old and wrinkly.

This 2019 KBS drama special is not very similar in terms of plot /story telling but similar themes can be found including:
Japanese colonial rule era
Bombing of Hiroshima
Korean Independence War in 1945
Male lead in this drama acts similar to another character in Pachinko.

All in all, a great short drama. Worth the watch!

Eyes of Dawn is set in 1930s-1960s Korea, China, Japan and Saipei at diffent periods. It includes more about rhe Korean war since it takes place in Korea when the Korean war happens.

It also features various war crimes.

both shows tell about generational struggles of koreans (especially women), who lived through hardships and poverty and worked hard to secure the better future for their children.
husbands of the main female characters are quiet, caring and protective. main female characters face losses and grow from naive girls to resilient women
because both stories are set in 20th century, through non-linear narrative, we see parallels, and shift of opportunities across generations. and the heart of both stories is, of course, family

Both have a similar vibe and cover a similar period of history, as the people struggle with the Japanese occupation and then adapting to American ways of life. Both FLs are similar in personality - young, but very strong and determined.

Both dramas gave me similar vibes. Pachinko involves forbidden love like The Hymn of Death.
Both are set during the period of Japanese occupation in Korea.

Not supernatural at all, but if you want to know more about Japan colonization over Korea in WWII and the consequences, Pachinko is a amazing historical drama to watch.

Both are about family and life's hardships. The sacrifices families have to make to survive in this world.

season 2 continues the story.

Park Eun Woo worked as a doctor in a clinic in Hanoi where he fell in love with a Vietnamese girl Ly Thi Vu. Due to the sudden death of his father, he had to return to Korea in a hurry but the message wasn't related to Ly Thi Vu. His elder brother Park Sok Woo who worked as a farmer in the field was hard pressed by his mother to go to Vietnam to find a wife and he ended up bringing Ly Thi Vu to Korea with the intention to marry her. Song Il Lan was Park Sok Woo's childhood friend and she realized that she was in love with him and he had a similar feeling for her too. When the misunderstanding between Park Sok Woo and Ly Thi Vu got clarified and all truth was out in the open, his mother who thought Ly Thi Vu was going to be her first son's wife and liked her didn't think she was good enough for her second son as he was a doctor. Ly Thi Vu was hurt and returned to Hanoi. Later the mother came to realize her folly and relented. Park Eun Woo didn't want to give up Ly Thi Vu and so he went back to work in Hanoi and search for her
