If you’ve been there

I think one thing a lot of reviews are missing is life experiences. Does this title contain tropes? Yes, but not as many as most. Do those tropes overpower the story? Not at all; in fact, they usually feel like an afterthought.

Either way, as an older person who has experienced some of these things (directly or indirectly, I don’t find the writing to be all that lacking. But an entire 16-episode series with just the mains rebuilding a relationship is a hard task. Might work for a movie, but it would get old quick if it were that times sixteen!

Also, I appreciate the ending— as much as it made me cry— because that’s how life feels. Ten, twenty, fifty years go by in a flash. The entire premise of this series is to emphasize that memories make us who we are, even the smallest ones. It also reminds us to cherish it, because we don’t know what’s coming next. We learn forgiveness for others, and for ourselves, when someone feels wronged. And we learn that love looks different for everyone, and none are your average Hollywood ending

I REALLY ENJOY THIS SERIES! THE BEST KDRAMA OF 2024!

"Queen of Tears" is undoubtedly the best K-drama of 2024. The storyline is nothing short of amazing, weaving intricate plot twists and emotional depth that keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The casting is spot-on, with each actor delivering superb performances that bring their characters to life in a deeply moving way. Kim Ji-won particularly slays as the queen, not only through her compelling acting but also with her stunning outfit choices that set new fashion trends throughout the series. The chemistry among the cast members is palpable, enhancing the overall impact of the drama. From the heart-wrenching moments to the joyous scenes, "Queen of Tears" excels in every aspect, making it a must-watch for any K-drama enthusiast.

And the tears flowed.

Kim Soo Hyun, never disappoints me. He is an Adonis of K-Drama's. I think he is often underrated. Queen of Tears is IMO a mellow dramatic rom-com. It takes a dive into the rich and selfish world of the upper elite in marriage. The ML from an average rural family in the countryside is in a miserable marriage to a rich third-generation heiress. The FL rich and cold follows the footsteps of what is expected of the upper elite amidst some past trauma.

The casting is done well with plenty of eye candy which I love. Kim Soo Hyun delivers a stellar performance. He was funny, adoring, sexy, and dramatic. Kim Ji Won, was a surprise for me in that she has really grown into a beautiful woman over the years. Her acting has improved. I could not get into her before "Arthdal Chronicles". Her part was captivating and believable. I liked this part for her. I felt there was chemistry but it was not developed as it should have been. Even though there were plenty of moments for the couple the director did not do enough with the romance, and it felt a little elementary at times. There should have been more adult romantic moments would have been better. There were plenty of side couples which did not hurt the film.
It is not a perfect film in that there are some filler scenes that only took up space and could have been edited better or deleted for more romance.

The acting overall was good. The soundtrack was good. The production was good with a great wardrobe.

If you like a good rom-com this is a good watch. Many parts will hold your interest.

Park Ji Eun does it again.

Queen of Tears strongest point are the performances, directing and cinematography, there's no doubt about this. Scriptwriter Park Ji Eun has a talent for teaming up with great talents, particular actors, and that's in my opinion the main reason why her drama are usually so successful. She manages to write really interesting and endearing characters, and put them in entertaining situations that grasp the attention of the viewer.

The casting director did a particular excellent job on this one because every single character was cast to perfection, every actor and actress fitting into the role as if it was written for them.

I am fascinated by the way scriptwriter Park Ji Eun has managed to mix genres in one drama, because Queen of Tears is a dark comedy, makjang, comedy, romance and melodrama all in one. This screenwriter is not stranger to making a successful and entertaining kdrama, but if you are looking for something that will dwell into the deeper reasons as to why the leads' marriage crumble, logic and cohesive editing, this story might not be for you.

Queen of Tears strongest point is the way both families come together, learning to respect and love each other but apart from that the drama is developed at a surface level. The scripts lean hard on the other genres which is perfectly fine but there were times when I was frustrated at the desiciones being made, the complete waste of time when the families are running against the clock to save one of their own AND the family's business, etc. This is when I think Queen of Tears is a lot like other Park Si Eun's kdramas: they start strong but run out of material towards the second half of the episode, almost as if she introduce a bunch of plotlines with proper solutions to a few of them.

Overall, I found Queen of Tears to be a really entertaining watch to disconnect from reality.

KDRAMA FOR THE YEAR 2024!

Queen of Tears" is undoubtedly a K-drama that will leave an indelible mark on viewers' hearts. This exceptional series stands out for its compelling story and unforgettable scenes, with each character bringing their own unique flavor to the narrative. The performances are so remarkable that the cast truly deserves acting awards.

The chemistry between Kim Ji-won and Kim Soo-hyun is nothing short of spectacular. Their portrayal of a married couple is so authentic and convincing that it feels like watching a real-life relationship unfold. Kim Ji-won's facial expressions are a masterclass in acting, capturing a wide range of emotions with impressive subtlety. She exudes charm and elegance in every outfit, adding to the depth of her character. Moreover, Kim Ji-won is very beautiful, her natural beauty enhancing her performance and making her character even more captivating. Kim Soo-hyun, on the other hand, delivers a performance that is both powerful and nuanced, demonstrating his superb acting skills in every scene.

What makes "Queen of Tears" even more special is its exploration of the essence of family and the complexities of spousal relationships. The story delves deep into the dynamics between spouses and the intricate web of family ties, resonating with viewers on a profound level. We love how the series captures the joys, struggles, and sacrifices that come with being part of a family, making it relatable and deeply moving.

The supporting cast also deserves high praise. Each actor brings their character to life with such dedication and skill that it elevates the overall quality of the series. Every scene is meticulously crafted, contributing to the realistic and immersive experience that "Queen of Tears" offers.

In summary, "Queen of Tears" is the K-drama of the year. Its realistic portrayal of relationships, combined with outstanding performances and a compelling storyline, makes it a series that viewers will remember for a long time. Congratulations to the entire team of "Queen of Tears" for creating such a phenomenal show!

RED FLAG MALE LEAD !

I feel like Baek Hyeon-u was extremely overhyped.
People are forgetting the fact that he was actually happy when he found out his wife was literally gonna die. He even threw a party with his friends and let her go to Germany alone. Even if he was mistreated by her and her family, let's not forget that she was once supposed to be the “love of his life” and the mother of his unborn child.
The reason I quote "love of his life" is because I don’t think he truly loved her in the first place. Hae-in became his so-called first love mainly because he was drawn to her beauty. Later, when they met again at the workplace, the reason he started liking her seemed to be PURE PITY. He misunderstood that she was poor and powerless and felt bad for her.
He only began paying real attention to her when Hae-in started showing interest in Eun-seong.
He got insecure and acted possessive showing his emotional immaturity.
Hyeon-u did go through a massive character development toward the end, but the way he behaved earlier was unforgivable.
Overall, I loved the acting by the cast, and despite the issues with the male lead, it was AN AMAZING DRAMA.

Great lead couple

This drama is a total win for the acting, chemistry and story surrounding the leads. Their marriage, all the problems, love story and interactions are entertaining, has great rewatch value, we just needed more of this. Unfortunately when you tie up the romance plot with a business sub-plot, latter just drags everything down and it got messy and boring at times.

the queen of tragedies!

just finished! In general I liked it, I think what stood out the most for me was the acting of the protagonists and their chemistry, you could feel that it went beyond the screen 💖
Now let's go with the script, it had good plot twists but it also had scenes that were left over... too much drama for my taste, especially in the last two episodes.
The ending... was more perfect than I had imagined... was it the ideal? I think so... what if I expected more? The truth is that yes but I was satisfied

Just another makjang out there

Amidst the buzz surrounding this show, touted as the highest-rated TvN series of all time, I couldn't help but wonder what all the fuss was about. Yet, as is often the case, the reality fell far short of the hype. It seems these days that any production flaunting an attractive cast and lavish production values is promptly lauded, regardless of its glaring flaws in storytelling and reliance on tired clichés.

Initially, the premise held promise. Rarely do K-dramas dive into a story with the leads already married. However, the trope of the cold CEO female lead paired with the cheerful male lead has been beaten to death (cue memories of "My Demon"). The acclaim seems to stem largely from praise for the actors, cinematography, and OST, all crucial components of any successful show. But amidst all the glitz, does anyone even care about the story?

No one seemed to bat an eye when Haein miraculously emerged from brain surgery looking as glamorous as ever. Was I supposed to suspend disbelief entirely? And don't get me started on Park Sung Hoon's character, a disappointingly one-dimensional villain devoid of any real depth or nuance. The family dynamics, meanwhile, followed the tired chaebol archetype, culminating in a contrived unity against a common enemy. The lack of character progression and depth in Haein's reconciliation with her mother was glaring.

The writing, helmed by Park Ji-Eun, leaves much to be desired. The pacing is all over the place, with the initial episodes serving little purpose before a rush to shoehorn in crucial plot points towards the end. The shock tactics employed, notably the accident, felt contrived and did little to enhance the narrative. It's as if the showrunners were simply ticking boxes to fill the 16-episode quota.

Despite its shortcomings, I begrudgingly acknowledge the stellar performances of the cast and the visually stunning cinematography. However, these elements alone cannot salvage what is ultimately a hollow and superficial endeavor. If you value your time, steer clear of this overhyped disappointment.

Despite its flaws, QOT does manage to harken back to the standards of makjang dramas and those from 2016. In comparison to the K-dramas released in the past 4 or 5 years, it's passable. While it may not reach the heights of recent hits, it does provide a nostalgic nod to earlier drama conventions.

exciting series with incredible characters

a marvel!!! This drama is very moving, I watched it with a tissue by my side. Throughout the series I was very moved by the stories of all the characters, performances by millions, super exciting!! Everyone put on a great performance, what a beautiful story of a lot of learning and overcoming, family relationships have their ups and downs, just like all relationships, loving, friendly, but the feeling is greater than anything. CHARACTERS who forgave each other and loved each other above all else. It's inexplicable what the drama does to us. The ost is also incredible, I listen to the ost on Spotify every day!

what a wonderful journey!

I felt a lot of feelings while watching this drama. it feels like being beaten up throughout the drama and ends with a feeling of peace because we managed to get rid of another fist. I like Haein-hyunwoo's humane portrayal. they forget their promise, but I like the development of the character who keeps trying to be better. Honestly, all the characters experience the development. This is a relief because not many dramas include other characters undergoing changes. I like the parallel scenes that happen a lot in this drama. I like how Haein and Hyunwoo deal with their separation caused by death which could very well happen. I liked the shot at the ending dan every epilog scene. Beautiful. quiet. peace. it feels like I grew up with them. yongduri feels like my hometown. Actually I still don't like Eunsong. I don't like how he keeps winning at every turn. but seeing him die just like that without a loved one crying and only showing his mother's greed made me feel sorry. even so, I will miss this drama. btw, I'm glad I didn't drop this drama and continued to survive because of Ji-won and Kim Soo Hyun. if it weren't for them, maybe I wouldn't be able to watch this drama until the end. Their chemistry is top notch!
