Fairytale Love
The plot was a simplistic one performed exceptionally by the actors. After several episodes, I realized that at the end of each episode, I would have a smile on my face and lightness in my heart. I will definitely watch this many times.All the actors did a terrific job. I'm in awe of Shou Lu Si's versatility. After watching the complex drama "The Story of Pearl Girl", "Hidden Love" at first seemed to too easy. But then I realized that this coming of age slice of life series portrayed her with the young teen's angst of first love to an emerging adult deeply in love. She maintained the consistency of her character from age 14 when she fell in love at first sight until she eventually was proposed to at 22. It was a warm hearted Cinderella story. I admired that her family and the male lead had a generous spirit and a strong sense of moral responsibly. The main couple portrayed a healthy relationship that displayed respect and genuine caring.

Perfect RomCom
Summary: At a comfortable 25 episodes, this is by far thee BEST romcom I've seen and will definitely watch again to catch any details I previously missed. I wish there was more story to watch! Following the standard formula of romantic interest > misunderstanding > confession > plot twist > clarifying love, this series packs some heavy one-two punches (also in the show) of both butterfly-inducing and laugh out loud scenes! There's also some heartbreaking scenes as well. That's why I consider Hidden Love (2023) a perfect romcom. NOTE: make sure to stick around (rather than skipping ahead) after the photo collages to see the outtakes relaying more details about an episode; not sure why the filmmakers produced it that way but it works. The soundtrack is also great.Details: The interactions and situations between the two leads are sooo kě'ài de! I enjoyed watching both grow and evolve into an equal partnership rather than a mentor/mentee relationship, as they struggle through awkward moments and finally reveal their secrets to each other. It was funny to see the confident and caring Duan Jia Xu tease Sang Zhi through her insecure moments and heart-melting to see how courageous and determined she was in caring for him through his hardships. Both actors are great at expressing the really heartbreaking moments of the show. I also like that there weren't strong triangle situations, which can be annoying (sorry if you're into that).
But what's even more entertaining are the interactions of the leads with the brother, Sang Yan, who's also my favorite character in the show. He is HILARIOUS. I'll never look at the word "gēgē" the same again (hint: it's used like "oppa" in Korean culture). XD XD XD For some reason, I kept wanting Sang Yan and Yu Xin to get together with both their feisty personalities.
One thing I was a bit concerned about is so much focus on the child version of Sang Zhi crushing over the adult Duan Jia Xu. I mean no lines were crossed but there didn't need to be so much backstory on that, only the teenager to adult years. The filmmakers also spent way too much attention on the professional details at Duan Jia Xu's work, not sure what valued that added to the storyline.

THE BEST CHINESE DRAMA I HAVE WATCHED
I cant express through words enough how i amaze i am with this drama. This is so well written, directed and casted. All the staff and people behind this masterpiece really deserves recognition. Its 2024 now. And as i rewatched this masterpiece I realize that this is really a gem. Zhao Lusi, Chen Zheyuan, Actor Ma and all the cast really did give justice to their characters 100 percent. The story is so heartwrenching, the ost is so good and cozy, the cinematography and aesthetic are just so perfect. How i wish i can just watch this over and over for the first time. Cuteness Overload?
If ur into first love kind of drama then this must be ur thing. Since it's Zhao Lusi i have nothing to say against it, as always she's giving her best shot into acting that made it look realistic and convincing. She's superb anyway! The story is sweet, cute, secret crush & all. The thing I loved the most is FL's love for ML & how bravely & confidently she showed her feelings towards him. In many dramas where FL has a secret crush on ML, it always turns out to be cliché. But here they showed it beautifully. I've seen in many reels saying "Girls should watch 'Hidden Love' so they know how to treat a boy".Scenes that I enjoyed watching:
Laughed at the scene where Duan Jia Xu & Sang Yan were struggling to find a sanitary pad for Sang Zhi.
Laughed when Sang Yan was teaching her & they kept fighting.
Laughed when Sang Zhi referred to Sang Yan as her father.
Sang Zhi was taking care of Duan Jia Xu in the hospital & the way she was reminding him to rest, eat well & not to stay up late & recuperate. Loved how Sang Zhi stood up for Duan Jia Xu against that psycho. How she wiped his face & wrapped a muffler around his neck, applying ointment to his face. Sang Zhi prepares a surprise birthday party for Duan Jia Xu & also cooks for him. Sang Zhi took the initiative to kiss Duan Jia Xu. All these things are usually done by ML.
How beautifully & politely & respectfully a few times Sang Zhi asked to help Duan Jia Xu financially when she herself was a kid. The most important thing is that Duan Jia Xu never felt insulted by it nor embarrassed. Rather, he finds her cute.
Laughed when Sang Zhi talked about her flat breasts & told Duan Jia Xu not to be sad about it.
Loved how Duan Jia Xu flirted with Sang Zhi after realizing that she liked him and the way he behaved with her on their movie date.
Liked how Duan Jia Xu asked permission from Sang Zhi to pursue her.
The way Sang Zhi got angry at Sang Yan for hitting Duan Jia Xu.
Sang Yan was more disappointed and emotional than angry that his little sister's boyfriend was his best friend.
Laughed when Duan Jia Xu said he didn’t know how to punch & in next second he punched Sang Yan so hard.
I love Sang Zhi & Sang Yan relationship. Always bickering, fighting. But deep down they love each other.

This drama is really good! I love both actors is this. I love the female actress she is probably my favorite actress. I just feel like anything she is in, it is good. My favorite thing about this drama is the pure love they have, she loved him for a long time and he is her brother's best friend. He doesn't see her as a woman until she is in college. And the way he treats her is very sweet and green flag. He takes care of her and notices the little things. I also like that even though it's a sweet romance it is not boring there are some things in there that make it interesting like a potential other love interest but he is confident and is not intimidated. Also when her brother found a out and the crazy girl. My favorite part is when she tell him while drunk she likes a guy and it is not till couple episodes later he find out it is actually him she likes and my other favorite is when she finally tells him after keeping it a.secret that she has liked him for a very very long time before she even knew how to spell his name.Was this review helpful to you?

I am very satisfied with the cast especially from CHEN ZHEYUAN. He just completely did fabulous in this drama. I am very satisfied with it. I am giving this drama a solid 10 rating. ONE OF MY COMFORT DRAMA!
The story in this dama is very simple, but the script is very interesting and flows naturally. It's slow but steady, and it's very heart-pounding to watch.The story is easy to understand and predictable, but also full of little unexpected details. These details make me really appreciate the production team and cast for making this drama!
I didn't know that I could cry over Sangzhi's heartbreak at his first love for Jiaxu, Zhao Lusi's acting here really surprised me. Especially when I saw the changes between Sangzhi as a teenager and as an adult, it was so different.
Even the way they smile is different! I was left gaping again at Zhao Lusi's level of acting.
Chen Zhe Yuan's acting is also good!
This is the first time I've seen the drama. His eyes really speak and this is another small detail that makes the drama more interesting.
Don't forget the ostinato! They're all very imprinted on my ears and I still play them today!
I'm still rewatching this drama and would love any videos about Hidden Love that pop up in my tiktok.
One thing I really miss in this drama is the consistency of Zhao Lusi's hair styling. It seems like it wasn't given enough attention by the stylist because sometimes it's still curly, then it becomes straight again.

So incredibly sweet
Hard to pinpoint what made this show so perfect. It doesn't have a particularly complex plot. Instead, it puts in a role of spectators of a beautiful love story that develops over many years. We follow them in their journey. I realize that's not unique, but the somehow everything clicks, between main characters and even supporting ones. They even had me on a silly fox plush toy, which I now must buy 😅Was this review helpful to you?

It is is the sweetest story i've ever watched honestly.What I loved the most was how effortlessly it brought emotions to life without ever feeling forced or exaggerated. Every interaction, every glance, carried meaning. The chemistry between the characters was natural and sincere, making every episode a true pleasure to watch.
