Well i think is still worth it
I loved this drama from the first episode. while it has some plot flaws like the ltg plot that was just bad, better storytelling could have emerged if they hadn't focused so much on his obsession with ruyi. overall, it's a very good drama, and i adore the dynamics of the characters and has a very good storytellingMy disappointment comes from the last episodes, not because of the deaths – i genuinely enjoy angst – but because of how it was executed. using the impact of sadness seemed like an overused trope in such a short time. up until episode 34, the pacing was excellent, but it felt rushed with the deaths. i'm fine with deaths in historical dramas, but wiping out all of them? it saddens me because there seems to be no point in doing this to the characters. it would be much better if they were better paced it reached a point that it lost momentum for it.
These were characters i truly loved and cared about, and it had the potential to be much better ending if we compare to the beginning, despite everything i will trully miss this drama :(

This is the Best Depiction of a BADASS & SHAMELESS Couple
I've never expected much of this drama, but after reading the synopsis, I was hooked up entirely. Assassin-themed plot is my favorite and given the visuals of the supporting casts, I was more than encouraged to start this. Alright, let's just begin, shall we?A Journey to Love was set in two fiction neighboring countries, An and Wu, who have borne longtime grudge. Okay, so the reckless Emperor of Wu decided to attack the An and look what it had become... he was kidnapped by the An who put a bounty on his head.
Meanwhile, a retired leader of Liu Dao Hall - Ning Yuanzhou, was requested to seize back his position and immediately lead the Wu diplomatic team to negotiate with the An with the hope of getting back their emperor. Aside from that, Ning Yuanzhou also encountered a badass yet shameless former An assassin (Scarlet Guard), Ren Ruyi aka Ren Xin. She grudgingly agreed to become the part of the diplomatic team after he ensured that she could leave wherever she wanted as long as she explained all sorts of things regarding the An.
Eventually, their teams consisted of the flirty Yu Shisan, the clever teenager Yuan Lu, the stoic Qian Zhao, the cheerful Sun Lang, and also the lonely princess of the Wu, Yang Ying. Together, they embarked on a journey and shared the moments of joy and sorrow together. At the country of An, their band expanded to the brave Chu Yue and the delulu Li Tongguang.
Eventually, the mastermind would be the Emperor of An and the second prince of An whose mother was Ruyi's former superior. It is quite predictable, but of course, we need evidence and proves to make sure they're the culprit. Nonetheless, it's still very twisty, though.
The bloodbath in the last episodes was unnecessary at all. Why should you kill those characters who only had their developments after venturing into An? To me, it's unacceptable. However, the writers perhaps thought that they've died as patriotic heroes and have no regrets to die for the country. In my opinion, Ruyi and Yuanzhou could've been dead after the attack of the Beipan. I previously thought that they were going to live in seclusion after everything was settled. But fate was playing a cruel joke on them. That's my only disappointment, though.
Acting is bearable and I've got no trouble regarding it. In fact, I didn't feel the main leads' chemistry despite their flirty actions. On the other hand, I would like to appreciate Liu Shishi for playing such a badass girl like Ruyi. She is fit for this kind of character and I'll will be waiting for her in 'Kill My Sins' and 'Fox Spirit Matchmaker 2'. Liu Yuning did perfectly in his first ever lead role and he looked charismatic too. The MVP here might be Yang Ying, portrayed flawlessly by He Landou. She has the most character development here, from the shy and lonely princess to a brave and decisive prince. Special mention for Chang Huasen who played the delusional Li Tongguang too perfectly. I really rooted on him and couldn't help to like him. The master-disciple dynamic between Ruyi and him is one of the good aspects of this drama. I can even feel their chemistry. :)
Opening OST is the best, which is sung by Liu Yuning (aside from beautiful voice, he's good in acting. He's an excellent all-rounder (reminded me of Mo Qingcheng in Love Me, Love My Voice)).
Despite the bloodbath, I still love this series. Overall, a ten out of ten. However, I need to use fast-forward button in order to watch quickly (due to my tight schedule and exam last year). If you love this kind of plot, you won't regret this. My suggestion is to give this a shot and you'll be entertained in no time. Good luck in watching.
P.S.
Surprisingly, I didn't use the fast forward button in Li Tongguang's scene. He's just too pitiful to be skipped forward. Wkwkwkwkwk.

A JOURNEY TO LOVE? MORE LIKE A JOURNEY TO HELL!! HEARTBREAKING, TEAR WRENCHING, BUT PERFECTLY MADE!!
1ST I WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO WHOM EVER SAYS LIU YUNING CAN'T ACT IS BLINDER THEN H*LL, BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE WATCHING OR TALKING ABOUT. WHEN HE IS IN DRAMA'S, HE IS AN AWESOME BRILLIANT ACTOR, AND IS SO TALLENTED ESPECIALLY IN THIS DRAMA!!! HE PUTS HIS HEART, AND SOUL INTO HIS ACTING, AND BY THE WAY FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO SAY HE IS UGLY, AND HAS SMALL EYES, REALLY NOT SEEING IT, HE HAS BEAUTIFUL EYES, AND HE IS SO GORGEOUS, AND SO VERY HANDSOME, SO IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIM, OR FEEL THE NEED TO INSAULT HIM, "JUST DON'T WATCH HIM!!!" THIS POOR YOUNG MAN HAS BEEN BULLIED, AND PICKED ON HIS WHOLE LIFE, HE DOESN'T NEED SH!T FROM FAKE FANS LIKE YOU LOW LIFE LOSERS!!!I Was Going To Give This Drama Like A 8.0, Maybe Even A 7.5 As A Score, Because Everybody, And Anyone You Find Yourself Loving Or Falling For Dies!!! But I Thought About It, And I Can't Just Rate A Drama On Me Being Angry Or Pissed Off That They Killed Off Every One, SO MY TRUE RATING FOR THIS DRAMA IS A 9.0, Based On Everything, And How This Drama Was Written... I Was Going To Rate A 9.5, But I Lowered It To 9.0, Because Of The All The Deaths!!! Yes, The Deaths Has Made Me A Bit Judgemental, And Lowered The Rating A Bit. That Is Still Higher Then A 7.5 Or 8.0 (There Is Only 1 Drama That I Have Ever Given A 10.0 Rating To, And That Is "The Untamed", So This Is Saying Alot About A Journey To Love, And Usually, If There Are Deaths, I Give Very LOW RATINGS! Hmmmmm... Come To Think Of It I'm Going To Have Change A Lot Of My Review Ratings... 🤦♀️)
I Really Love, And Adore Liu YuNing, The 1st Time I Saw Him Was In The Long Ballard, And Even Though He Was Kind Of A Mean, And A Heartless Guard, He Caught My Eye, And From Then On I Really Started Liking Him. PLUS HE IS SO ADORABLE IN THE T.V. SHOW OUR SONG BOBBING HIS HEAD UP, AND DOWN TO THE SONG FADED!!!) Anyways I Have Recently Watched The Prisonor Of Beauty, A Dream Within A Dream, And Now This A Jouney To Love... Pretty Much Binged Watched Each One WithIn 3-4 Days. All Three Are Great, Well Writen, And Are Awesome In There Own Ways, But This One Out Of The 3 Didn't Have A Happy Ending... So Let Get On To The Review Of "A JOURNEY TO LOVE "!!!
I Will Admit, I Was Really Pissed And Annoyed, Because It Took A Bit For YuNing's Character "NING YUAN ZHOU" To Pop Up Or Show Up In The Drama, But At Least He Did Come Out In The 1st Episode. Short, Sweet But What An Entrance. 🤯 The 1st Few Episode Were Kind Of Slow, But The Marshall Arts, And The Fighting Was So Very Impressive!!! So That Made Up For The 1st Few Slow Episode's!!! The Fighting And Marshall Art Was So Awesome, And So Spectacular... YuNing, And The FL Leads's Character "REN RU YI" Was Like The Best Fighters In This Whole Drama. The Others Had There Awesome, And Great Tallents Too... And Each Could Hold There Own, But Not Against Thousands, And Thousands Of People, And In The End All Of Them Ended Up Dying, All To Save There People, And There Contry, And Other States. Everyone You Want To Live So Much, Ends Up Dying. 😭😭😭 The Ones You Want To Die, Live!!! IRRONY!!!
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆YuNing's Character "NING YUAN ZHOU" Is A Boss To Some Special Gaurdsman Group, Which He No Longer Wanted To Be In, But Was Forced Back Into, Because Of The King Being Captured. While The Female Lead "REN RU YI" Is The Boss Of A Special Assassin's Group Which She Left, And Didn't Want To Do Anything With It Anymore. Her Skills Are Inpecable!!! Her Speed, And Her Style Of Killing Are A+++++++. YuNing's Skills Was, And Could Only Match Hers, But It Was Said She Would Be The Only To Be Able To Kill Him. She Would Fight Free Hand, With Swords, Even Sometimes With 2 Swords In Hand, She Even Had Special Metal Finger Nails That Go On The Tip Of Your Fingers, And Was Really Quick, And Fast To Kill With Those!!! All She Wanted To Do Was To Avenge Her Queen, Whoever Had Any Type Of Hand Killing The Queen Must Die. YuNing Fought Free Hand, And He Had A Special Sword He Would Always Carry With Him At All Time, It Was Really Beautiful, And Classy. When I 1st Saw It, It Really Caught My Attention. Though, He Sometimes Would Use What Ever Was Convient, And At Hand. He Also Had 4 Fine Awesome Powerfull Gaurdsman, And Each Had There Own Special Unique Powers, Abilities, And Skills. HE LOVED ALL 4 JUST AS THEY WERE HIS REAL BROTHERS!!! HE PROTECTED THEM WITH HIS LIFE!!!
1) There Was A Young Boy "YUAN LU" That Was The Age Of 18, And His Fate Was That He Was Supposed To Die When He Turned To The Age Of 20. His Fighting Skills... LIKE WOW!!! 1ST Time, I Saw Him Fight I Was Like, HUH??? What The F***??? AND THEN TO FIND OUT HE IS ONLY 18 YEARS OLD... Well I Guess Having The Perfect Teacher/Boss Is What Moled This Young Man To Who He Was, And Became.
This Tallented 18 Year Old Fought Free Hand, No Sword, But He Was Very Skilled At Making These Black Balls That Were Like Bombs🧨, When 2 Were Throw Together Kapluwie🎆!!! No Need For Lighting A Fuse, Just Throw Them Together, And Explosion Time, Actually If You Really Think About It, Those Are Really Cool Weapons. He Also Made Something That Looked A Toss Between A Ninja Start, And A Throwing Dagger, Boy Was He Fast With Those Thing. He Did Just Throw One Either, He Threw About 3-4 At A Time In Both Hands. He Was An Awesome Fighter!!!
2) Alen Fang, Who Was Also In The Long Ballard Also Had Caught My Attention Too... His Character "YU SHI SAN" The Charming, Mischievous, Playboy... He Had Me Laughing So Hard At Certain Times, Because He Was To Freaking Funny... From The Things He Would Do Or Say... (THE DYAM SOUND AFFECTS...TO DYAM FUNNY!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣) His Character Even Knew How To Fix, And Make Women Beautiful, From Dressing Them To Putting On Make Up For Them. He Was The Perfect Apitamie Of A Clown, With The Charm Of Prince Charming, And The Skills Of A Man With No Doubt Of Getting Any Woman He Wanted. EXCEPT FOR THE FEMALE LEAD REN RU YI!!! 😉
He Had Mad Skills With His Fan... His Fighting Skill Were Awesome, And So Crazy, I Am Not Entirely Sure, But I Really Don't Think They Had Cross Bows Back Then, But His Ideal Weapon If Choice Was A Cross Bow. He Fought Free Hand, And He Would Use Swords To Fight With Too... He Even Used 2 Sword At One Time Too... Even A Spear That Wasn't His. He Was An Awesome Fighter!!!
3) This One Loved Animals, I Believe His Name Was "SAN LANG", He Loved Animals So Much As They Traveled, He Kept A Bunny Rabbit With Him Tied To His Chest. They Had Found It Where They Were Stay, And He Was So Excited To Hear There Was A Rabbit, And Asked The Princesse, And Yuan Lu To Show Him Where The Rabbit Was, But There Was Another Reason, For Telling Him About The Rabbit.
He Had A Really Cool Shield With Knifes Sticking Out Of It, And He Could Use It And Throw It Kind Of Like A Bommerang To Kill The Enemy's, But He Also Used Swords Too... A Softy For Animal, But An Awesome Fighter!!!
4) The Other One Was "QIAN ZHOU" He Had A Staff With A Sword At The End, If You Know Who The Chinese Fight God Guan Gong Is, Qian Zhou's Weapon Is Exactly Like That, And It Was So Heavy, Only He Could Wield It, Carrie It, Or Pick It Up. He Was All About His Gaurds Men, And Getting Revenge For His Brothers That Passed Away From A War, Because Of The King. Unfortunately His Little Brother Was In That War, So It Made Him Kind Of Angry, And Really Bitter, THOUGH OUT THE DRAMA, YOU NEVER SEE HIM SMILE ONCE!!! He Also Used Swords To Fight With, And He To Was An Awesome Fighter.
*****THEY ALL WERE AWESOME FIGHTERS, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM... EVEN REN RU YI'S MENTAL DISCIPLE, TO THE PRINCESS THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO MARRY HIM!!!*****
"PRINCESS YING YANG" What A Brave Girl... She Impersonated Being A Male Prince For The Sake Of Her Brother, Whom Is The King, To Negotiate The Return Of The King, And To Save Her Country. I Believe She Was Only 16 Years Old, She Had To Learn Many Things, But When It Came Down To Protecting Her Self, BOY, Did She Grow Up Really Fast, And In A Hurry. She Was Taught By Ren Ru Yi, So What Do You Expect. I Would Expect Nothing Less Of The Young Princess... Only Thing Is She Didn't Know How To Fight, She Did Ask Her Master To Teach Her, But Only Learned A Little Bit, But Just Enough To Protect Herself.
She Really Impressed Me In How Brave She Was So Much, That I Really Ended Up Like Her.
Ren Ru Yi's Deciple "LI TONG GUANG" O.k. From The Very Beginning, We Know He Is Mental, And VERY UNSTABLE, Because As A Child He Was A Terror, And Could Not Be Teached. So He Became Ren Ru Yi's Deciple... HOW DOES A STUDENT, ESPECIALLY A MARSHALL ARTS TEACHER DOES HE FALL MADLY IN LOVE WITH HER. This Kid, Was Supposedly 22 Years Old, And Still Acted Like A Child. I SWEAR TO GOD, IF I COULD HAVE GONE THOUGH THE T.V. I WOULD HAVE BITCH SLAPPED HIM... OH MY GOD, HIS TEACHER TOLD HIM SHE IS NOT INTRESTED WITH HIM IN THAT WAY, AND HE WOULD NOT LISTEN TO HER.. He Did Everything, And Anything To Try To Get With His Teacher, He Even Poised Her, And Tried To Marry Her, Even In The Bed, But Thank Goodness Ning Yuan Zhou Came In Time, After She Was Groggy, And Waking Up, And Stuck A Hair Pin To Li Tong Guang's Throat. Ning Yuan Zhou Got His Revenge Though, And Li Tong Guang Finally Respected Ning Yuan Zhou, And Called Him Brother Ning, Ning Yuan Zhou Gave Him A Great Big Good Bye Hug, But After All That Was Said And Done He Respected Ning Yuan Zhou By Calling Him Ever Respectable Name He Could Think Of, And Even Calling Him Teacher At The Very End.
The Last Character I Will Write About Is "PRINCESS CHU YUE" 1st I Wanted To Say, And Point Out How Much This Actress Looks Like The Actor Joseph Zheng, They Litterally Could Be Identical Twins, It's Scary... I Had To Look Her Up To See What Her Last Name Was Just To See If They Had The Same Last Name, But They Don't... They Are A Splitting Image Of Eachother. They Do Say Each Person Has A Dapalganger, But I Always Thought They Are The Same Sex. Sister, Brother, Twins, They Look Exactly Alike!!!
As Far As Her Being A Princess She Is Also Brave, And Also Fought In Helping With The War, And Being In The For Front Of The War, She Was A Awesome Fighter Too... I Know She Had A Whip, But Fought With Swords Too... She Had Kind Of A Tuff Girl Additute, But When They Needed Her To She Come Though, She Almost Even Lost Her Eye Sight, Because Of The Enemy Throwin Big Rocks On Fire With Catapults. Her And Yi Shi San Were On A Horse Trying To Get Back To A Palace, And They Got Hit By A Rock Bolder, And Fell Off There Horse!!! Both Were Blinded, But Her Vision Recovered, His Didn't.
I WON'T SAY WHO PASSED, OR WHO LIVES, BUT I WILL SAY THIS DRAMA HAD A BRILLIANT SCRIPT, AND EVERYTHING WAS SO WELL WRITEN... (I PROBABLY SAY THIS FOR MOST DRAMA'S, BECAUSE THEY ALL HAVE THERE OWN UNIQUE SCRIPT, AND WRITING.)
I Have To Say The Best Was The Fighting, And The Man Skills That Everyone Has, Had!!! The Story Line Was Awesome Too, Everything Was Well Played By All The Actresses, And Actors!!! There Was Definitely A Long Journey To Love, That's For Sure... This Drama Was Very Impressive To Me, Action Packed, And Had Me Laughing So Hard At Times, And Had Me Crying My Eyes Out. Even The Sad Scenes Were Perfectly Played Out, And Perfectly Made.
This Drama Will Forever Be In Bedded In My Heart, And I Will Always Remember Ning Yuan Zhou, And Ren Ru Yi Very Long Journey To Love, And All The Strains. And Challenges They Went Though To Get Love From One Another, And I Will Forever Remember Each And Ever Character Living Or Passed.
I Will Always Remember This Drama, And Would Rewatch It Over, And Over Again, Especially The Beginning, And Fun Parts... Maybe Not So Much The Sad Parts, But I Am Willing To Rewatch The Drama Again, No Doubt About It.
I'd Say I Wish There Was A Journey To Love 2, But It's Impossible, Guess The Writers Didn't Think About That. 😭😭😭

It had the potential to be a great
First, let me point out that this is the female assassin I’ve been waiting for. So elegant, smart, and BADASS. Love it! Well done! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🥰After watching the entire series, I must say that it had the potential to be a great one for 2023. However, I am disappointed with the way it ended. I was really hoping this series would end on a more positive note! I love the characters and their chemistry. Don’t get attached to any of the characters 😑😂
Be prepared for tissues. 😫😭😭

This was a very entertaining show as Liu Shi Shi does not disappoint. She's definitely a big name in the Chinese cinema industry and her acting was phenomenal in this work. Liu Yuning was also very good despite what other viewers might have said about him. Although I have to stress about how the show ended and how it could have ended.Ren Ruyi is a former top assassin of her old organization, the Scarlet Guards of the State of An. She soon teams up with dashing Liudao Hall leader Ning Yuanzhou and his homeboys of the State of Wu to get revenge for her former benefactor, the Empress of An. Sounds enticing doesn't it? The first half of the show was filled with twists and turns, plotting and scheming among political organizations and assassinations. Unfortunately, the drama falls short of expectations. So many major characters don't make it till the end, leaving so many viewers rather confused as to why they lost their lives. Ruyi's disciple, Li Tongguang, played by the very handsome Chang Huasan, was done wrong by the screenwriter. He starts out as the talented military leader who manages to take down the Wu Emperor and his army despite being so young. We later realize that he is just a petulant child with stalkerish tendencies towards his former master, and he continues his behavior into the very end. Not to mention, his military prowess suddenly disappears into thin air and he is responsible for the State of An's shameful defeat in the early stages of the war. They did my homeboy wrong, and for no reason. Towards the end, the State of Wu also tumbled and their crippled prince tries to kill his siblings to take over the throne. The drama was also filled with some inconsistencies with many people switching alliances. Initially, princess Yangying is betrayed by her older brother Danyang, but he later becomes emperor and is supported by the entire main cast. As if his betrayal wasn't obvious earlier. They also killed off the rest of Ning Yuanzhou's brothers, which was uncalled for. But alas, I guess the fate of these detective like agents in historical time periods is pretty predictable.
Nonetheless, I find this show to be very enjoyable because of its theme. Ruyi is glorified as the most feared assassin throughout the world and even in the end she still goes out with a bang. Literally. No joke. The theme of the imperial court and its clandestine organizations is petty neat and I like the idea of covert operations in ancient times, as well the comical moments of the brothers of Liudao Hall. It was overall a great show and I hope to watch more like this one.

Definitely worth watching...
This was beautifully done. I would recommend it to anyone. I gave the series a 9.5 overall, because of two factors. I needed to confirm whether I got the ending correct and the explanation that I read in My Drama List coincided with what I thought, but quite frankly it was not believable. So I would love to see how they explain it in a sequel. There were two possibilities. One was that Chu Yue killed herself at the end or that Ruyi and Ning faked their own deaths and had children. I wanted to believe the later (but frankly they were both so badly injured, there is no way, not eve through willing suspension of disbelief), because I wanted them to live and have that child. In addition, I would have liked to have seen way more passion between Ren Ru Yi and Ning Yuan Zhou. So took off .5 because of the lack of passion, and the ending was a bit squirrely. Was this review helpful to you?

Great Casts with an Okay Story Line
I loved all of the characters in this drama. Every person played their role right. I have no complaints and this is one of the best drama of 2023 as well. I'm really in love with Liu Shi Shi's role and she looks like a HOT MAMA (if you know what I mean). Liu Yu Ning did his best and I really appreciate his acting growing each day. Yushisan stole the show, I'd really want to watch more of his backstory. All of the Liudao Hall characters stole my heart. I really wished the ending was better that was the only down fall of this drama. Highly recommend to watch and yes it's a bad ending. Was this review helpful to you?

The ending killed my love
This story started so well, making us fall inlove with the strong character of the female lead and the shy but also strong male lead.If i can fast forward, all happened naturallyz there are those crazy disciples like Li Tong , part of the story.
The shy princess who makes it her mission to bring her brother back from captivity with the help of the so fine male leads, becones strong but funny at the same time when she is with her trusted companions. Her friendship with Yuan Lu, on my God how i wish they had a chance... crying after episide 34. The Leads die one by one. I felt sad guys, you have no idea how much i cried after QS and L die. Then YL dying in YY arms. i broke dowm.
My question to authors... mara why vele. none of them were spared but couldnt they have a happy re union together instead, the heroes die and we are left with the tomboy princess at the end. .
The way Ning died, and the FL,, im mad . the person who was supposed to have the memories at the end is princess YY cos she was there from the begining. Honestly. I loved the story until ep 34. The tears i shed from then on are ridiculously painful. The script writer and editors... what were you thinking giving us those last 6 episodes of killings

Great show but the ending ruined it.
The show was good until the last five episodes. The main leads were hilarious, extremely strong fighters, and had great chemistry. I loved when Ruyi just grabbed Ning and kissed him, totally taking him by surprise. His reaction to the kiss and all her attempts to seduce him were hilarious, I could not stop laughing at their antics. The fight scenes were amazing with a lot of martial arts. The show contained a good message for girls. But the last five episodes just ruined it. The show was all about the groups journey to the state of An to rescue the Emperor of Wu, that was taken captive. I loved the banter between the main people in the delegation. The acting was great. I really enjoyed the series until the last five episodes. The main characters finally rescue the Emperor of Wu through a lot of trouble. They make him truly see the cost of what his foolish actions have led to, and what it really means to be the emperor. Just to kill him off five episodes later anyways. If that is not bad enough one by one, they kill off the main character of the delegation. Including both the Male Lead and the Female Lead. The group rescues the emperor with the princess and the Female lead being left behind. The Male Lead gets the emperor out of the capital and on the way back to the State of Wu. Then turns around, leaving the emperor with his friends to escort him home, and returns to save the Female Lead. After they separate, another state trying to invade An, so the emperor and the others join the battle to help the people fend off the attack. During the war, the emperor is killed along with the main leads and their friends. All happening in the last FIVE episodes. So, if you are like me and want to see the Main couple have a happy ending, then don't watch this show. It is heartbreaking watching these amazing characters killed off one by one, every single one off them goes down fighting with their last breath. Though if I choose the most heartbreaking one it would be teenage Yuan Lu. He was such a lovable character, even though it heavily foreshadowed that he will most likely die, it didn't make it any less heart breaking. It was very sad, we were given teasers of romance blossoming between him and Princess Ying, to have him dying in her arms while professing his feelings to her. The actress playing the princess does a marvelous job showing her anguish and pain with his death, but also not letting that stop her from doing what needs to be done. I was iffy about her character in the beginning, as she was really whiney and timid. Doing whatever someone told her to do. To slowly discovering her inner strength with Female leads help. I loved the show, but it makes me so mad that they killed everyone off. The Female lead let me down, she was amazing throughout the show, teaching other women to be strong and showing them didn't need a man to be happy. Then at the end the Male Lead dies and she just gives up. Yes, she killed the enemy by blowing them up along with her, but there were other ways to accomplish that then by killing herself with them. The ending just didn't make sense to me, I think they destroyed all the work they did with those last episodes. But that is my opinion as I like happy endings, with the leads together at the end.Was this review helpful to you?

An Outstanding Adventure Undone by a Frustrating Finale
A Journey to Love completely deserves the hype it received when it first aired. The drama is gripping from the start, featuring a memorable cast of characters, exciting political schemes, and some of the best action choreography in recent costume dramas. Both the male and female leads are refreshingly competent—not just as fighters but as strategists. Instead of relying on misunderstandings or plot armor, they solve problems with intelligence, making their partnership one of the drama’s biggest strengths.Unfortunately, the final episodes are where everything falls apart. A tragic ending isn’t the problem—this is a story set during wartime, so death is expected. The problem is how those deaths are written. The first one or two major sacrifices among the diplomatic mission feel meaningful and believable, but once the story shifts into the final war arc, the writing becomes increasingly forced. One particularly baffling scene has the second leads sharing a romantic horseback ride, smiling and enjoying a peaceful moment in the middle of a battlefield. The tonal shift is so strange that it completely breaks the immersion, only for the male supporting lead to die almost immediately afterward. It feels manufactured purely for shock value rather than as a natural consequence of the story.
The endings for the main couple are even harder to accept. Throughout the drama, both leads are established as exceptionally capable survivors. Yet the script suddenly bends its own rules just to ensure they cannot have a happy ending. The female lead, in particular, feels completely out of character. She spends the entire series proving her resilience, surviving impossible situations and living on despite unimaginable loss. Then, in the end, the drama suggests she no longer has the will to live simply because the male lead is gone. That decision contradicts everything the story had spent dozens of episodes building. Instead of feeling tragic, it feels unearned.
A Journey to Love remains an excellent drama for most of its run thanks to its engaging characters, thrilling action, and clever storytelling. If the finale had stayed true to the characters it had so carefully developed, this could easily have been a 9.5 or even 10. Instead, the final stretch sacrifices logic and character consistency for tragedy, leaving me with an 8/10 despite how much I enjoyed everything that came before.

Just WHY!?you said in title it's Journey To Love!- how come it became A Joyrney To Death!?
I loved the drama so much especially the beginning til middle part. Every character is very interesting to watch. The fighting scenes are just WOW. The character development of a'ying (prince Li) is very commendable . There's no annoying 3rd party or closed-minded parents etc. I like how they portray those main leads as smart, loyal, and have their own super strength. They made us fall in love so much with their friendship/ camaraderie that it breaks our hearts too much when they started dying one after another 💔 I cried so much especially from Qian's death to Ruyi's death. I just can understand the ending that much. That young boy named Ning Shishan- he said his parents are Ning and Ren. Are they our main lead couple???they didn't die?!then why princess imagined the fallen 6 riding their horse together? Was this review helpful to you?
