And this is what you call PERFECT
Wow! What a freaking good story. Its been quite a while since I've loved a drama sooo much.
In one line: It was Awesome
Spectacular Plot, splendid acting, mind blowing execution, an amazing mix of happiness, sorrow, love & comedy, whats not to like about this drama.
Plot : this drama is a masterpiece. It was amazing experience to watch a story such nicely woven. Each and every minute in every single episode, totally worth it. And just the perfect kind of happy ending. Though I wish we had more Kang Ho-Mi Joo scenes, but that's okay.
Acting : Lee Do Hyun &Ahn Jin have been phenomenal. (I've seen Ahn Jin in the hospital playlist and have loved her work ever since, and LDH is just LDH). The cast was superb, everyone did a great job. The twins OMG they are so freaking good. It was so much fun to watch Seo Jin & Ye jin.
I had this drama in my watchlist since it started airing. But after finishing this, OMO I fell in love with this drama. I'm short of words for how amazing this drama has been.
I hope this Drama gets multiple awards at Baeksang. ❤️

The Good Bad Mother (2023)
"Why are we still here? Just to suffer?"The Good Bad Mother takes a 'good' setup and layers plot-dense concept after concept to it but the excessive amount of 'bad' things barely allowed the audience to catch their breath. I mean, it's borderline makjang how emotionally-heavy and tragic the story plays out. It felt like the show's core was lacking so it relied on unfair emotional checks to keep the audience engaged. The story spent so much time building up the big bad evil plot line and teased the climax for a bit too long that it resulted in the end game payoff to be not as satisfying (oh, how often we see this sentiment in k-drama land). That aside, personally I was looking forward to one thing the most. How the show would handle and wrap up the "estranged father and his children" story line. But we got all of nothing with it; a cutesy one-off'er that lacked any emotional payoff. Borderline criminal.
The interpersonal relationships between the villagers were great. The audience is shown that, despite being together for so long, things aren't as happy-go-lucky as most shows would try to depict. They argue, fight, compare, criticize, yet still have tons of love and admiration for one other. Though sometimes lacking substance, these parts of the show were very enjoyable.
Now let's cut to the chase--- the "mother" character. It just doesn't make sense. We're led to believe that the former helicopter parent/tiger mom seemingly learns from her mistakes and tries to change for the better... but does exactly none of that as the audience watches her act the same way time after time again. Why?
While the characters in the story were able to understand and come to terms with this good bad mother i.e., perhaps a "good parent" but a "bad mother"--- the show did not afford the audience the same privilege to do the same.

THE GOOD BAD MOTHER
Okay, I just finished watching THE GOOD BAD MOTHER and I cried so much!!First of all, in the beginning you start to get angry and revolted with KANG HO but THEN you start to get angry and revolted with HIS MOTHER and in the end you LOVE BOTH.
This drama is so important in a level!! Korean's parents have a fame that they are really hard with their children about studies, so this drama is a criticism to this problem that can cause sui***s, mental problems etc.
And i just simply love the way that the mother's of the village were always together and had their problems with their children but everything ended up well as it should.
Focusing on romance, MIJOO and KANGHO were so cute together!! And their kids, aaaaah beautiful. But i think their relationship wasn't REEALLY developed. For me, it should have more story for them.
Anyways, JIN YOUNG SOON (the mother) had a great development but it made me so so sad that she died :(
they could let her alive you know? but not every story needs a beautiful ending
About the villains, they didn't had much development in the story as they should. It was so easy defeating them in my opinion.
It could have a least one episode focusing on the problem, even because it was THE STORYLINE of the drama, THE reason why everything happened.
Anyways in a overall 8.5/10
the cast was AMAAZING! Couldn't have been better! i will totally follow the actors and their future roles!

Powerful story
Every episode kept my attention, from the beginning till the end, there is no boring moment in this kdrama. It talks about relationships with mothers, and usually when kdramas take a plot of mother/child relationships i BAWL my eyes out. this is definitely one of those kdramas that will leave your heart hurting badly but happy at the same time.
Please consider watching it if you’re looking for a good kdrama to binge. It really has everything you need, romance drama sadness. For someone who has bad attention span, this really keeps you interested. Such a good kdrama!

The stand-out drama of the season
I doubt that anything will come along this year that matches this drama for overall quality. I cried through so many of the early episodes. It was riveting. I won't bother to write a long synopsis, plenty of other people will do that. For me, the best part was seeing Ra Mi Ran (the mother) given such a great role. She's a fantastic actress, both in comedy and drama, but too often gets cast in the same old fish-wife type roles. She always delivers the best performances. She's hilarious in Come Back Mister as the overworked guardian of passage into the afterlife, and she's heart wrenching in this drama. She never misses. Make sure you watch this one!Was this review helpful to you?
Masterpiece..
This kDrama is the best I’ve watched, (I’ve watched a lot). This will be hard to beat.. you will laugh, cry, feel love, be on the edge of your seat, and more.. the story was so good! Also so many little secrets that get revealed throughout the story. This show had much sentimental meaning, life lessons, and also really good action and thrill. To be honest I’m very sad that I’ve finished it, but they had the absolute best ending to the story. Such a great watch! :) I really hope more kdramas come out similar to this one - stories with more depth and complexity! Was this review helpful to you?

Natural Parent-child relation reflected through an exceptional writing
Resentment can run deep. Human emotions are complex and in this game of survival of the ‘richest’ and ‘powerful’, it is these abstract and intangible emotions that often suffer. You can choose to go with the flow or swim against the tides. Either way, there will be consequences. The new Korean show, The Good Bad Mother, is about these emotional sufferings and a chance to pause, reset and reconnect. The initial episodes of The Good Bad Mother establish the backstory of our protagonist. Although focused primarily on the relationship between Young-soon and Kang-ho, The Good Bad Mother’s biggest strength is its writing supported by extraordinary performances by Lee Do Hyun and Ra Mi Ran. The duo share a great understanding onscreen. Lee Do Hyun is a chameleon. Just a month back, he left viewers bewitched in The Glory and now, as a cold-hearted prosecutor, he is flawless. Ra Mi Ran is a delight to watch. Her switch from turning a ‘bad’ mother to being vulnerable is heart achingly beautiful.
The secondary but an integral part of the drama, Kang-Ho as a lawyer seeking justice for his father's death is an exceptionally written piece as well. Although he justice was served in the ultimate episode of the drama, it could have been more enticing. But nonetheless, The Good Bad Mother perfectly balanced a parent-child relation and a son's attempt to bring justice for what he and his mother were deprived of.
My Rating : 8.5/10

The Bad Mother Is Really Good
Wow, what a great drama to watch. Another award winning performance from Ra Mi Ran, the Good Bad Mother. I loved the maturity of this drama's storyline which hit many emotions and I looked forward to every episode with great anticipation. Lee Do Hyun who played the son Kang Ho is no slacker too. The son who made plans to revenge the people that killed his father and revenge the pain that caused his mother who took out her fear and anxiety onto him. Their performance as mother and son was so on point, at times, I forgot they were just acting.I am glad that even with such intensity of the content, the drama still delivered when it came to romance. Kang Ho's relationship with his childhood first love Mi Joo had substance and their love and chemistry was delightful to watch. Not to forget mentioning all the good neighbours, delightful children and even a Canadian pig farm helper Andrea all made the drama a true classic.
I cried a bucket, I laughed a lot, I detested the bad guys, I eagerly awaited to see how Kang Ho would nail them, I loved the bond between mother & son, Son & girlfriend, neighbour & neighbours and found Ye Jin's crush on her Oppa Kang Ho so cute.
A classic drama in my books. Highly recommended.

Lee Do Hyun
Some Vincenzo and CLOY vibes but at the same time a melodramatic ambiance that will wreck you. I laughed really hard and cried even though I prefer when crime shows are dark and when slice of life doesn't have crime like, pick a side imo. Still I enjoyed the little village life and the deepness of traumas and family issues.I thank the writers for giving us a characters with physical disability. As someone who had to sit on a wheelchair after health problems, it was surprisingly comforting to see a kdrama actor in this role, especially Lee Do Hyun. His acting and portrayal of Kang Ho is so touching. I liked Sam sik and the kids so so much.
Overall, I preferred the first half of the drama more focused on the inner feelings of characters, I lost a bit my interest with the revenge thing at the end but the cinematic was cool.
