Short Answer to "Should you watch it?"
I see why people are saying season 1 was better and all but season 1 was the prequel for a reason, and season 2 the is part for which they wanted to create for a happy ending which made sense instead or rushing it in the first season. I would say this season was quite fitting as a sequel to the masterpiece which was the first season. Definitely a good watch!I think this was nice form the writers as I would rather they have this season then not and leave the watchers in the dark or even worse make a rushed version in the first season.
As far as my opinion matters I would say its a good watch if you wanna see the great ending the writers concocted. This season was not made to be watched on its own but to be a sequel to the previous one and in that aspect it hit the mark.
Slight heads up! The re-watch rating is not accurate as I personally don't re-watch any shows again so its just done for the sake of the rating so I've given it a fair rating.

The hong sisters truly have incredible talent from an start from season 1 to an even better season 2. Please do not come at me for loving both Jung So Min and Go Youn Jung I love both my girls a lot. Like people need to stop comparing 2 queens like they're both equally as good in my opinion. But OMGG the way Lee Jae Wookie's character had so much difference than it did in season 1 like I absolutely loved season 2. I would say I prefer season 2 over season 1 sightly. But season 1 is great too. But it was amazing to see the whole cast again. Speaking of the cast like they're all casted to perfectly for their role. Everyone did an amazing job in playing their character. Like I actually got attached to this kdrama I had to take a break for a while after watching this because I was just in so much denial that it actually finished. Like funny thing I was rewatching it and im on the last episode today of season 2 I'm gonna finish tonight and cry. I am sorry if I've said this too much BUT I LOVE THIS KDRAMA SO MUCHHHHH. I'm looking for someone to be my red jade person because majority of my friends don't watch kdramas so they wouldn't understand the point of the bird egg jades. And the people that have watched it im not as close with. The blue and red jades that Jang Uk and Mu Deok had they're on amazon I wanna buy them so badddd. And have someone be my other red jade person. Anyways this turned into a rant instead of a review also if you're looking for the ost's or background music of Alchemy Of Souls than it's on YouTube and they have every single music track and ost that was part of the kdrama. *Walks out nervously* I enjoyed Season 2 more than Season 1.Story
In a way this was a continuation of S1 but also a different story. This is a great example (for me) of why the multi season arch can really work in the drama space. As with Dr Romantic, which had 3 seasons and I would love a 4th, there is something comforting about knowing the characters and seeing them grow beyond the 10 to 16 episode lifeline. In this season we get the very satisfying badass version of Jang Uk right from E1. The joy that I felt from watching him in the first scene was euphoric. His brooding was not only deserved but was the perfect amount. The person you loved literally killed you. Go sit with the rocks my little emo man. But also, can we talk about those steamy scenes when he finally gives in to being 'crazy' with Bu Yeon?! The lantern?! I need the other romance dramas to take note! Loved the play on soul shifting with Naksu/Cho Yeong/Jin Bu Yeon. It kept things moving along but played with the gray molarity of the characters as they find or, or helped. Again, having more time with the characters gives you the ability to see how the previous actions butterfly affect to their decisions later on.
Acting/Cast
I'm ready for the pitchforks that will come out with my next statement. I'm saying this with my full chest. Go Youn Jung was perfectly casted for this role. She brought about an ethereal lightness to the character. I loved So Min in Season 1 but for the story to play out, they needed someone else. Ideally it would have been the actress who originally portrayed Bu Yeon but whatever. In my S1 review I shouted out the Prince and Seo Yul but I forgot about Mr Dang Gu! He was fantastic in both seasons but also had a bigger role in S2, which I appreciated. To be fair, this cast is loaded with so many actors that I've seen in other roles that I respect (Seo Hye Won, my English/Korean queen from Business Proposal and Lovely Runner, I see you!)

As with the first season, I really liked the music.

The best korean drama i watch in 2024 so far
At the first time, i planned not to watched it because i don’t like watching drama with more than one season, but i’m not regretted watching this one. It just come to my mind and it still coming on my feeds, so i try to watch it. This is my first ml and fl drama i watched, and their acting was excellent in both season, it took me just 3 days to finish both season. Thas was excellent story that makes can’t believed i missed the hype of this good drama. You guys should try to watch it! It was the best!Was this review helpful to you?

A segunda parte foi melhor, mas ninguém está preparado para escutar isso!
Alquimia das Almas vai me deixar com saudades!Eu não entendo tantas críticas que existe para a segunda parte desse Dorama épico. Só pela razão de trocarem a atriz? Perdão! Mas quem se incomodou com isso não entendeu o real conceito da história!
Não fazia nenhum sentido continuar com a mesma atriz, pois depois daquela tragedia teríamos que ter um novo foco. E Go Youn Jung fez um trabalho incrível, construindo uma personagem que já tinha estado em cena. Vi muitas críticas dizendo que havia mudado a persolidade da Nak-Su, mas quem fala essas bobagens não entendeu o real conceito. Nak Su no começo era uma assasina, movida apenas por uma vingança, ela foi lapidada para isso, não sabendo o que era amor, amizades, qualquer tipo de sentimentos. Ela foi construindo isso ao longo da primeira temporada, e quando ia ter seu conto de fadas, foi cruelmente usada. Quando começamos a segunda parte vemos uma Nak Su que havia perdido a memória, e consequentemente ela nunca carregou aquela personalidade assassina, seria como ela seria se toda aquela tragedia com o pai não tivesse ocorrido. É tanto que quando ela vai recuperando fragmentos de sua memória, suas personalidades vão se misturando. E isso só demonstra o excelente trabalho da Go Youn Jung ao lapidar em cena tudo isso.
Outra crítica que escutei muito foi o fato do Prota se apaixonar rapidamente, mesmo não sabendo que se tratava da alma do seu grande amor. GENTE, viver TRÊS ANOS NUM LUTO É RÁPIDO? Desculpa, mas esses comentários precisam ser estudados. E mesmo não sabendo que se tratava da Nak Su, ele foi se apaixonando justamente por elas terem traços semelhantes, e em relação a contextos que eles viveram na primeira parte. Aplausos para o excelente trabalho de Lee Jae Wook! Ele conseguiu captar a essência do personagens em todas as suas nuanças.
Os personagens secundários na segunda parte se tornaram ainda mais apaixonantes. E para mim a história foi muito bem desenvolvida, não tendo qualquer tipo de enrolação. O que não a tornou cansativa, mesmo sendo uma segunda parte.
Poderia ter uma terceira parte, que eu prontamente assistiria, kkkk.

I'm obsessed!
I love it! I'm kinda picky when it comes to watching kdrama tho i'm a kpop stan and i'm not a fan of action fantasy drama, but i'm loving this. the main reason why i watch AoS Part 2 is mainly because of go youn jung❤just hoping we get a happy ending, if its going to be sad ending, atleast let jang uk and naksu die. I'm tired of watching naksu always suffering. 3 more episode left, i don't know how are they going to explain and wrapped everything up. but one thing for sure, jinmu needs to die, i mean REALLY REALLY needs to die, how is that bast*rd still standing after this episode.Was this review helpful to you?

I don't really leave reviews but this one here deserves one.i don't get ppl not liking this I mean😭.well to me instead of preferring one season over other id rather consider this as a whole 30episode drama it makes so much sense in this way.the way I laughed and sobbed through this drama is insane,I've no words to explain how much I love it.his chemistry with both the actresses was amazing the ost the cast the story I mean🤌🏼🤌🏼.the number of twists this story had I didn't sleep untill 4 in the mrng to binge anyways don't listen to the ppl with useless reasons telling its not good I understand they miss the old actress but it's a part of the plot if you loved season1 you WILL love season2.i did not expect humour at all tbh but damn did they surprise me agn,and the way I cried in the first part of season thinking of uks heartbreak it's a perfect mixture like a whole package go for itttt😭🤌🏼Was this review helpful to you?
What a sequel!!!
Top notch season following up on a top notch season 1. I'm not a fan of sequels in Asian dramas. But, in this case, I couldn't be more excited and happy that there were 10 more episodes to this amazing story.They rounded off all the story arcs & life did come full circle here. Leads just ate, I was wondering if changing female lead would impact any visual aspect of the show, it didn't. The story really flew well, the change made sense and I loved their chemistry. The ML was so charismatic & their constant banter kept me hooked. Sometimes, I even would rewind just to see them saying those lines again.
Really loved the way story came to its conclusion. Loved this show so much! Definitely on my re-watch list!

Ass Expected Great
Great second story. The lead female was not my favorite, but I did like her as an ordinary girl. But the best was Jung So Min in the first story. Their romance seem to have more chemistry and realism. I enjoy all the characters came back and it was easy to follow the story. My favorite is Maidservant Kim and her romance with Lord Park Jin. I thought they wear cute and it gave me a smile how much chemistry they had with each other. The ending was wonderful, special affect and excitement. The actors performance was great and I really enjoy the story. Prince Go Won was my heartthrob. I found him very handsome and so cute when he gave us that great smile.Was this review helpful to you?
One of the few great 2nd seasons.
It is really rare to see a 2nd season that is as good as the 1st. I don't really think this is a sequel. It is just the 2nd part of the same drama.It was a great experience. I really love fantasy and historical dramas. But it had two problems I think. First, the overall really complecated story of Naksu/Bu Yeon. I couldn't understand it and I don't believe it helped the plot. Second, this season was really fast paced. Especially the end was super hurried. As slow was the 1st, so fast was the 2nd. I believe a lot of things needed more time. It was rushed in the end. If both seasons had 15 episodes, it would be better. The 1st needed less episodes and the 2nd more.
All in all, it is a great drama and we rarely see this type of k-dramas. In the bonus, amazing special efects. Also, Lee Jae Wook was great and had great chemistry with everyone.
