Twinkling Watermelon

반짝이는 워터멜론 ‧ Drama ‧ 2023
The similarities :Both of them have a child of the main lead going to the past where the parents are in high school.both the parent characters r bad in studying and they help them with their studies.
Both of the future child ends up falling in love when they're in the past .both r cute and heart warming stories .both the child lead tries to make their parents fall in love with each other .

The differences: in TW the main lead is a guy whereas in idwtbfwu it's a girl lead.
In TW there's two characters that's travelling into the past making their love story a bit easier .since they can still be with each other in the future .
Whereas in idwtbfwu the girl lead falls in love with someone in the past .that makes their love story a bit more complicated .

I finished idwtbfwu and it's a beautiful story . totally recommend it

Both dramas are time travel dramas where someone (or multiple people) travel back in time. They are both set in the modern time, but go back to the 1990s, which could maybe impact the future...
Both stories are focused on high school and friendship. They both have romance and bromance, but also deal with some heavy topics.
Differences are in the focus of the story, the way they could time travel, and the genre:
Whereas Twinkling Watermelon is much sweeter and has some comedy in it, Someday or One Day is a thriller. They also end very differently.

Set in 1980-90s, nostalgia feeling in shows. Old school romance. Twinkling watermelon has a slightly more modern feel but both satisfy the romance old school vibes.

Though completely different genre and countries, one of MLs (main, not male) is/are death.
Similarities - see your love - a bl story about two boys, one happens to be death, and another starts learning sign language; Twinkling watermelon - a boy lives with parents and brother - all death, so he connects them with the world, returns to the past, finds his young parents and tries to prevent them from catastrophe , and his relationships with father - are pure bromance - friends.

Synopsis

The drama tells the story of how an ordinary girl Xia Guo chooses when faced with two different choices, and what happens. The drama is presented in parallel time and space. The different choices of the heroine will lead to different endings. There are the challenges and dilemmas of the big city; but on the other hand, there is the stability and triviality of the small town. In life it is always necessary to make concessions, without fear of loss, and moving forward to embrace that sense of the "extraordinary." If life could have other versions, and the "if" could be experienced, what would it look like? The drama realizes this "if" so that the heroine experiences two lives in parallel. How she will handle those choices is the big question.

"I live elsewhere" (from original title in chinese).

As I watch this, this has a lot of similarities to Twinkling Watermelon. It's about a son who travels back in time and helps his father. The only difference is that in Nanfan Family, he's not trying to help his father avoid an accident, but rather help his father not live a poor life. He also helps his father get together with his mom. The son and young father also have a funny/cute brotherly relationship

Both are romance youth dramas set in the 90s and focus on friendships, first loves and the nostalgia of the 90s.

If you enjoyed Twinkling Watermelon, you might want to check out Cheer Up! Both dramas have that youthful, heartwarming vibe, and they use music not just as a background element, but as a core part of the characters' journeys. Twinkling Watermelon dives into emotional storytelling with band performances that tug at your heart, while Cheer Up brings the same energy through its cheer squad and musical moments that feel just as moving. The coming-of-age feels, friendship dynamics, and emotional growth in both are really similar, just in different settings. Highly recommended if you're into music-themed K-dramas with heart!

Although not related to main lead's marriage, both ML & FL go back in time without each other's knowledge and face lot's of secrets their parents kept and solve many problems on the go.
