Infuriating mom
I suppose this story is about mother and daughter relationship, and honestly, i cant imagine myself being smothered by an infuriating, and very materialistic mom. She's supposed to care for her children (but most favored the daughter and ignored the son), who wants people to be jealous of her status, and kids achievements. The forced engagement really is turns me off and i fast forward some scene cause the scene with the mom is so annoyingWas this review helpful to you?
Not really a romance. More a profile of a family with a dysfunctional mother.
The thing that needs to be said - and yes, other reviews have said this but it bears repeating - is that this is not really a romance drama. Yes there are a couple of romances within the story. And indeed a lot of the early story structure looks like it's a romance. But this story is really about mothers. There are multiple, very different mothers presented in this story and in particular, of course, this story ultimately revolves around the FL's not-mentally-healthy mother and her relationships within the family. The FL's mother, Liu Wanyu, is clearly suffering from some deep issues. Some sort of combination of depression, narcism, and oppositional defiance disorder. So she does not act rational. She is near insanely stubborn and given that she is prone to lock onto irrational ideas this makes for some serious socio-destructive behavior. In a word: Exasperating. Anyone who has a family member with severe behavioral/mental issues will relate to just how difficult such a person can make life for the people around them. So large segments of this story follow along as she behaves in ways that drive not just her family members nuts, but of course, also the viewers. Viki comments during this drama are filled with constant exasperation and dismay at the mother's behavior. This is testament to how powerful He Sai Fei's performance is, as the annoying mother. All of the actor's performances in this drama are fantastic. And the production quality is top-notch. Often the camera work is so beautiful you need to pause the video to enjoy a shot. This overall is a top notch drama. But if you are looking for a conventional romance you may find yourself pulling your hair out watching this.Was this review helpful to you?
best drama everrrrrr
I really like the story in this drama. All the stories are beautifully wrapped.Although I was angry and annoyed with the role of the parents in this drama, everything truly has a deep meaning, and you guys shouldn't skip anything. This drama also made me cry in every conflict, and I didn't expect that omggg huhuu.
Each of the young characters has their own difficulties, especially the main male and female characters, YZM and MCH. Their love story is very sweet, not excessive. They are lucky to have each other, always supporting and not bringing each other down. They are patient in facing all the problems that come their way. I hope I can have the resilience and strength like MCH, she is truly an amazing girl. I admire her so much. This is truly the best family drama.
I also hope there will be another drama starring the two of them again. I'm waitinggg..

I really liked this drama in the beginning. Actually the first 70-80% was good. It's a family drama, so it's slow pacing which is fine, I enjoyed it a lot.But once the ML and FL got together, that's when it goes flatline. The story's focus turned to FL's mum and brother. Since her mom was an unbelievably such a pain in the arse character, I find it really hard to waste my time watching her character development arch. My other problem was when ML's Dad passed away, ML was depicted as dead sad. But only few minutes after the funeral, he bounced back to not just being his normal self, but as a happy man with a spring on his steps.
Overall it was an enjoyable watch, great acting from the leads.

So far, this is the best family drama. I really enjoy the story in this drama. It explains how parents should ideally support their children because each child has pressures that they likely can't share with anyone. It also emphasizes how parents should respect each child's decisions without imposing their own will. Additionally, it shows how children should respect their parents but not overly strain themselves to make their parents happy at all times, because truly, if a child is happy, their parents will be happy too. There are many meaningful messages conveyed in this drama, and I never miss anything. There are several episodes that made me cry..I also really like the love story of YZM and MCH. Honestly, even though their romantic scenes are not too frequent, I really admire how they build their relationship, and that's what makes me emotional. In their relationship, they teach us that once you've decided to be together, it's better not to bear the burden alone, and they truly embody a positive relationship. They respect and protect each other, truly fortunate to have one another. THEY'RE EACH OTHER'S BEST CHOICE EVERRRR
I love the chemistry between Xu Kai and Yang Zi.
I hope there will be another drama starring the two of them again. waitinggg...

Nice Family Drama Overall
The banter between ML and FL was good later on in the drama. Skip all Noisy FL Mother's Scenes and you will be good. Lots of life lessons were taught here. Excellent family drama, with Yang Zi and Xu Kai in CL.
The story is centered around FL (works in the hotel industry and inherits a vintage hotel from her "grandmother") and ML, grandson of this grandmother, manager in an international hotel chain . The FL family is led by an abusive, hyper-anxious, overprotective mother who gets involved in everything, even in the professionnal and romantic life of her child.PROS:

- I know that mothers are revered in Chinese culture, but here the family is TOO tolerant! The mother needs psychiatric follow-up... We understand her journey better in the last episodes, but her behavior in the first two thirds of the series is unbearable!
- Too little space for the main romance, including the ending. With 2 fantastic actors in CL, I remain a little frustrated with the low number of sweet scenes.

La story est centrée autour de la FL (travaille ds l’hôtellerie et hérite d'un hôtel vintage de sa "gd-mère") et du ML, petit-fils de cette gd-mère, dirigeant dans une chaine internationale d’hôtellerie. La famille de la FL est dirigée par une mère abusive, hyper anxieuse, surprotectrice qui se mêle de tout.
PROS:
+ Yang Zi et Xu Kai en CL.
+ story cohérente, bien écrite qui décrit intelligemment la complexité des liens familiaux.
+ Les acteurs sont bons, convaincants, attachants et leurs personnages sont complexes et bien développés.
+ Réalisation sans longueur
+ OST adaptées (la plupart du temps);
CONS:
- Je sais que les mères sont vénérées dans la culture chinoise, mais ici la famille est TROP tolérante ! La mère a besoin d'un suivi psychiatrique... On comprend mieux son parcours dans les derniers épisodes, mais son comportement dans les deux premiers tiers de la série, est insupportable !
- Trop peu de place pour la romance principale, y compris la ending. Avec 2 formidables acteurs en CL, je reste un peu frustrée du faible nombre de sweet scenes.

Best choice ever
If you are looking for a romance drama, this is NOT it. While there is a romance between the main characters, it is a subplot to the main story.If you are looking for a drama that depicts family life in all it's nitty gritty, you've come to the right place. I loved this show and nothing felt glossed over. I could easily relate to what the characters were going thru and the emotions that comes with it.

Best Heartwarming Family drama of the year
Best choice ever is maninly a family drama which protrays huan's growth, pain and love and relationship between her mother. She cuts ties with her mother out of anger and tries to be independant. Truly a nice family drama the ML's were great in terms of acting realistically and showed a great, loving relationship. We may not have had much intimate scenes and kissings but remember this is a family orientated drama that mainly focuses on huan's family, you coulc also say the mum's the main character in this show.It comes to realisation that your mum has always been their for you, and cares for you and that you should hold on to your parents before its too late, have no regrets maybe not forcing marriage with her ex-boyfriend. She had good intentions but was clearly fixated on huan's future but slowly realises what huan wants is different to what she wants for her.
Truly, worth a watch after so many struggles it ended with a happy ending, perfect for those family-drama fans out there!

It's a Family Affair
The ML and FL were great in showing depth of emotions from business and personal conflict. The FL's mother was superb in showing how a parent within their capabilities can learn, grow and impact all that they touch. The grandmother was a heartwarming reminder on how to focus on what's truly important and not get lost in throws of life or business expectations. The focus within this series was more family relations and situational than romance. The endearing quality of this drama is that it shows how connections endure throughout different circumstances and come out stronger in the end. Little bit boring
The last few episodes were interesting, but the rest were boring. The entry of the main leads was good, and I initially thought there would be a clash between them. However, the female lead already had a boyfriend. The story began with her perspective. She had a boyfriend who was always good to her, and they shared a strong bond. However, they broke up because of his sister, who manipulated his mother, leading to a conflict based on social status. The male lead entered their lives, and the common link was his grandmother, who was an acquaintance of the female lead. The female lead's mother constantly nagged at her , trying to impose her decisions on her daughter. She was the dominant figure in their family. As time passed, the mother gradually began to understand things better.The story depicts the hurdles faced by the leads and how they overcome them. It also explores the challenges faced by two other characters due to the age gap in their relationship.
I particularly liked the chemistry between the second leads, the female lead's brother and her best friend.

Worth Watching
Best Choice Ever is a simple story about hardwork and dedication and family ties.MCH will tell us the story that with pure determination you can reach high goals, no need to be a scheming sly fox.
A lot of the characters in the story had been using connections to gain what they wanted
and this is purely reality,there are a lot of things in this life that can only been gain through connections,but somehow MCH would like to give a different light on this matter. Even if she is surrounded by scheming people who are afraid of their own shadow and guilt it didn't stir up her heart and did her best to move up in the field she have chosen.
