Best Choice Ever

UNDERRATED DEFINITELY DESERVES A HIGHER RATING!!

When i started this show i literally had no expectations, for one it was a female centric chinese family drama(most of which are generic), there was an ex-bf and his annoying family, the fl's annoying mother and worst of all the pathetic ratings on mdl..But dont let any of these stop you from watching this show


pros:

1) All the characters are realistic and their reactions to situations also seem human, no one is excessively kind and they react the way a normal person would in most situations

2) parallels between characters: i think that there are a lot of clever parallels drawn by making certain similar characters in order to prove that the environment you were raised in matters more than money, xie jialiang's father's mistress grew up in poverty just like MCH but she turned out to be greedy and cunning whereas MCH is caring and diligent, we also see some comparisons between MCH's ex and Zhiming, although both of them are rich, zhiming was forced to be independent and opportunistic and he learned to cherish his loved ones due to all the loss he faced whereas xie jialiang turned out to be timid because he was used to always getting what he wanted and not having to fight for anything(hence not being able to protect MCH)

3) The pacing: I have to say the pacing was absolutely perfect for most of the show and i think that the breakup/resolving of issues with mom all took the perfect amount of time

4) One of the biggest issues i have with certain female centric shows is that they force the fl to choose between love and career (although this may be realistic) but im glad that the fl didnt have to give up on either and got the best of both worlds

5) The ML....YAO ZHIMING OMLL...He is the epitome of husband material, there are so many shows where the ml ends up "helping" the fl and basically the intelligent fl is dumb in comparison but this man was so respectful, he never made decisions for her, he always stood by her side when she needed him, he tolerated her mother even when they were not together and he was RESPECTFUL. after hearing his grandmas will he did not throw a tantrum or make some plot to steal the hotel(this may be the bare minimum but its still so gentleman like) and he always lets her know when hes jealous or uncomfy with a situations (hes literally such a green flag)

cons:
I only really have one con and thats a pro in itself in a way? SO the fl's mother never really got the retribution but on the flip side i think that its very realistic she didnt(so technically not a con)

she lived in the country side and was very uneducated and she got married at a young age for a better life but was still stuck in the circle of poverty and she lived most of her life as a mother, she had no other identity besides a mother/wife and so her only job was to worry about her husband and children and make decisions for them....I wish they hadnt given a her mom a terminal illness at the end because that literally felt like they gave her physical pain in return for the emotional trauma she put her kids through, it feels really weird hating on a sick character and i felt like she should have changed more.....BUT I personally also feel that the chances of an asian mother changing her personality and habit of nagging is one in a million (lmfao) and most people cant change the way they behave so yeah i think it wasnt that bad

one other thing that was weird was how many rich people were around her, shes like a real life rich person magnet(I'm still waiting for my grandma to tell me she is secretly a millionaire T-T)

Beautiful Slice Of Life Drama

Only up to Episode 16 has been released, but I’m really enjoying the storyline. So sad they only drop 2 a day, but better than waiting weeks in between.

The lead and supporting actors are really presenting the story well, and of course I already have my favorite characters. (The grandmother of course!!) It was also refreshing to see the FL , although exceptionally generous, not back down with one of her coworkers. *more often than not, the jealous coworker is let off the hook.

Really a great show. Worth watching!

I am here to give a review about this drama after watching 16 episodes. After lighter and princess and hidden love, this is the drama that has surprised me. I mean story acting is next level. The FL killed it by her performance in this drama. I liked her from Go Go squid, she was so cute and childish there. But in this drama she is mature, brave and smart FL. And also the ML ( xu kai ) was so handsome and cute in this drama. This is not the typical romantic Chinese drama where the rich boss ML fall for employee FL. It's totally different drama. It's shows how you value your family, how you support them and how much you love your family. I really can't wait for the other episodes.

Good chemistry...everything else womp womp - Could not finish.

I recall watching this and thinking this is probably one of the better chemistry Xu Kai has had with a FL co-star I've seen in a while. So if that's an indicator of Yang Zi's acting or ability to get along with costars I have no idea. But Xu Kai's romance chemistry was much improved from his other projects here. Sadly, that's where all the good things about this show end.

Besides the romantic chemistry this story is just an absolute chore to watch because of the FL's abusive mother that everyone enables. I don't even want to begin to unpack her sickness and my heart really goes out to people who have parents like this and are unable to successfully cut ties with them or get some independence/distance.

I kept suspending my disbelief, waiting to see the straw that would break the camel's back. If the redemption/pay off was good I was willing to keep watching. But eventually that disbelief was suspended so much it totally plummeted. Patience dried out.

Anyways, I would not recommend and I'm glad I dropped this.

best drama everrrrrr

I really like the story in this drama. All the stories are beautifully wrapped.
Although I was angry and annoyed with the role of the parents in this drama, everything truly has a deep meaning, and you guys shouldn't skip anything. This drama also made me cry in every conflict, and I didn't expect that omggg huhuu.
Each of the young characters has their own difficulties, especially the main male and female characters, YZM and MCH. Their love story is very sweet, not excessive. They are lucky to have each other, always supporting and not bringing each other down. They are patient in facing all the problems that come their way. I hope I can have the resilience and strength like MCH, she is truly an amazing girl. I admire her so much. This is truly the best family drama.

I also hope there will be another drama starring the two of them again. I'm waitinggg..

I really liked this drama in the beginning. Actually the first 70-80% was good. It's a family drama, so it's slow pacing which is fine, I enjoyed it a lot.

But once the ML and FL got together, that's when it goes flatline. The story's focus turned to FL's mum and brother. Since her mom was an unbelievably such a pain in the arse character, I find it really hard to waste my time watching her character development arch. My other problem was when ML's Dad passed away, ML was depicted as dead sad. But only few minutes after the funeral, he bounced back to not just being his normal self, but as a happy man with a spring on his steps.

Overall it was an enjoyable watch, great acting from the leads.

So far, this is the best family drama. I really enjoy the story in this drama. It explains how parents should ideally support their children because each child has pressures that they likely can't share with anyone. It also emphasizes how parents should respect each child's decisions without imposing their own will. Additionally, it shows how children should respect their parents but not overly strain themselves to make their parents happy at all times, because truly, if a child is happy, their parents will be happy too. There are many meaningful messages conveyed in this drama, and I never miss anything. There are several episodes that made me cry..

I also really like the love story of YZM and MCH. Honestly, even though their romantic scenes are not too frequent, I really admire how they build their relationship, and that's what makes me emotional. In their relationship, they teach us that once you've decided to be together, it's better not to bear the burden alone, and they truly embody a positive relationship. They respect and protect each other, truly fortunate to have one another. THEY'RE EACH OTHER'S BEST CHOICE EVERRRR

I love the chemistry between Xu Kai and Yang Zi.
I hope there will be another drama starring the two of them again. waitinggg...

Excellent family drama, with Yang Zi and Xu Kai in CL.

The story is centered around FL (works in the hotel industry and inherits a vintage hotel from her "grandmother") and ML, grandson of this grandmother, manager in an international hotel chain . The FL family is led by an abusive, hyper-anxious, overprotective mother who gets involved in everything, even in the professionnal and romantic life of her child.

PROS:
+ Yang Zi and Xu Kai in CL. ☆✲ﾟ｡(((´♡‿♡`+)))｡ﾟ✲☆ ☆✲ﾟ｡(((´♡‿♡`+)))｡ﾟ✲☆
+ coherent, well-written story that intelligently describes the complexity of family ties.
+ All actors are good, convincing, endearing and their characters are complex and well developed.
+ Production without length
+ Suited OSTs (most of the time);

CONS:
- I know that mothers are revered in Chinese culture, but here the family is TOO tolerant! The mother needs psychiatric follow-up... We understand her journey better in the last episodes, but her behavior in the first two thirds of the series is unbearable!
- Too little space for the main romance, including the ending. With 2 fantastic actors in CL, I remain a little frustrated with the low number of sweet scenes.

La story est centrée autour de la FL (travaille ds l’hôtellerie et hérite d'un hôtel vintage de sa "gd-mère") et du ML, petit-fils de cette gd-mère, dirigeant dans une chaine internationale d’hôtellerie. La famille de la FL est dirigée par une mère abusive, hyper anxieuse, surprotectrice qui se mêle de tout.

PROS:
+ Yang Zi et Xu Kai en CL.
+ story cohérente, bien écrite qui décrit intelligemment la complexité des liens familiaux.
+ Les acteurs sont bons, convaincants, attachants et leurs personnages sont complexes et bien développés.
+ Réalisation sans longueur
+ OST adaptées (la plupart du temps);

CONS:
- Je sais que les mères sont vénérées dans la culture chinoise, mais ici la famille est TROP tolérante ! La mère a besoin d'un suivi psychiatrique... On comprend mieux son parcours dans les derniers épisodes, mais son comportement dans les deux premiers tiers de la série, est insupportable !
- Trop peu de place pour la romance principale, y compris la ending. Avec 2 formidables acteurs en CL, je reste un peu frustrée du faible nombre de sweet scenes.
