Overall: this is a sex positive series that focused on the sex and love lives of 3 main characters. I gave it a rating boost to 10 because it discussed several lesser talked about topics in a realistic way. Know that this is not a tragic series, although there are some sad parts, it celebrates love, life and friendship. 10 episodes about 30 minutes each. What I Like
- the friend group and how they supported each other, even if they messed up they had good intentions and apologized
- realistic scenarios, depicted several topics that aren't shown very often in media
- MAMA* and the styling
- a character had a spine and knew what he wanted/what his deal breakers were
- showed the difference between open relationships and cheating
- good foreshadowing with the flowers
- character growth
- supportive sibling
- sweet/caring moments
- depictions of intimacy
- production value (especially enjoyed the music)

Room For Improvement
- not a fan of voice overs
- *I wish MAMA was actually the 4th main character and he had his own plot line instead of just an advisor and showing his brief steamy flashbacks
- the cliffhanger ending for 1 protagonist
- (neutral) on the friend letting her go with him when she was extremely drunk

Surprised at the amount of tears I shed for Ah Zhi - more than just NC scenes.

Subjective Gut Rating: 8.25

I’ve been a fan of a couple Taiwanese productions (“Let’s Talk about Chu” and “Us Without Sex”) that are not afraid to be bold and talk about sex, lust, and other taboo topics. “The Nipple Talk” is no exception when exploring the sexy lives of three professionals - Pony, Ah Zhi and Xuan. Their individual stories vary in uniqueness and enjoyability, but their friendship remains consistently the highlight of the show.

The three of them, along with AS Bistro owner, Mama, are just so fun to watch. Despite not agreeing with each other’s choices and decisions 100% of the time, and they are not afraid in speaking up their minds and criticizing. The bond remains strong and genuine. We all want friends like them, who will knock some sense into you, get drunk with you, laugh at and with you.

Pony’s story might be the most common and unoriginal of the three. A girl who got burnt by a past relationship and just wants to have fun and not catch feelings. We followed a few of her sex-capades and her wild life. Her ending is somewhat predictable but what is up with that ending???

Ah Zhi’s story is my favorite of the three. I think I cry the most for him. As a gay guy, it was shown that he’s actually quite conservative and prejudiced. This is probably because of his family upbringing. There are a few times I also want to smack some sense in him, but Mama did it for me. He also has the best character development of the three. We first met him as a loving boyfriend who just wants to get married and has a family. But that dream was crushed and it took him a while to truly be himself. I do admire him for knowing what he wants, persists and does not give in.

Xuan’s story may be the most boring for me. A lesbian who likes to be at the top and in control. She was unapologetic in her way of life until towards the end when she fell in love. The last couple episodes of her story are interesting in a way that I don’t see that explored in many other dramas (well, I also don’t watch GLs).

We didn’t really get to see much of Mama’s story. But we got to know her wild side through many of her finger-sucking flashbacks. In a way, I want to know more about her. But on the other hand, these flashbacks are just the perfect dose. Mama, though seems like a caricature of a character, is actually the voice of reason. She’s also not afraid to smack some sense into them, esp. Ah Zhi’s prejudice and hurtful comments. I also always look forward to her outrageous costumes/attire.

“The Nipple Talk” might not be super unique, but it was an enjoyable watch that explores a variety of topics in a fun and emotional way. The podcast format is actually not really used in a traditional sense like in “Let’s Talk about Chu” or the K-drama “Hit the Spot”. Instead, it’s used as the voice over from Pony when sharing her thoughts and describing what happened. I would have rated this higher if I was moved by Pony and Xuan’s stories. But when writing this review, I realized what I love most about this drama is the friendship and Ah Zhi’s story.

Realistic Storylines

This is perfection! I had been craving realistic characters and storylines and this gave me EVERYTHING! I absolutely love it! As a straight cisgender woman in a very queer world in my everyday life I found all my friends and myself watching this and it was amazing. I really hope I can help some of my friends with the many nuggets of wisdom from MAMA too. Guys watch this and show it to your friends, it’s beautiful ❤️

What’s Not to Love!!!!

This was an incredible series. It’s always wonderful to watch a mature series that involved adults. I was scared to watch this at first because a series that centers around sex can go very wrong, really quickly. Thankfully this series had the right mixture of mature content, comedy, drama, and heartwarming moments. I loved getting to know the main characters and their storyline had a good progression throughout the series. I may not have liked all of the characters (I have my favorites), but they were well written. The best part was the friendship dynamic between the main characters. They didn’t always get alone, but they were always supportive of each other. The cast was wonderful and did a great job portraying their characters. This had great music and cinematography.

Random Notes:

It’s not a major one, but there is a cliffhanger in the last scene. It gives a hint of the possibility for a second season which I would love to see.

My only complaint is the English subtitle timing is too quick on GagaOOLala.

Don't be fooled!

I think some people thought this show is all about sex because of the title, but it's way more than that. I mean, yes there are NC scenes but it's deeper than that

Some of the scenes are extremely touching, some are really funny, some are simply lighthearted. It's as the show describes, "No label, no tag, just love is the key spirit in this show."

I really love how there's a straight, gay, lesbian in the show- what a diverse representation. Kudos to the team in charge of Mama's costume. I love each one of them- so sassy! I also love the creative name of the cocktails and how pretty they look

I'm impressed by the quality of this Taiwan drama- especially how they're delivering positive messages in such a funny and creative way. It has amazing lesson on self-love and touches on issues around LGBTQ in a very tasteful manner.

I love the character development of the casts, especially Leslie. Their friendship gives off Sex in the City vibe.
