The cliche trope rides high on the strong chemistry between the leads

The show won't bring you something out of the box or something that you haven't seen before but what makes the show a good watch is the strong chemistry of the leads. The show has many cliche moments but won't feel cringey . Another good thing was that the entire past life trope not dragged which many shows often do.

Song Kang as a charming and narcissistic demon was the perfect cast and so was the Kim Yoo Jung as the feisty nutjob Do Do Hee. The chemistry between them was top notch since the first episode. Their relationship arcs was quite fun too watch and was the strongest point of the show.

Kim Tae Hoon as Noh Sok Min did one phenomenal job as one ruthless and cold businessman. Kim Seung Ho as one psychotic teen did just a good job. Even though it was his first time main stream acting, he did total justice to his character. He impresses me the most and was the dark horse of the show.

The show is a good time one time watch if you are looking for some Human - Entity relationship dramas.

Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung --> the perfect visuals

Kim Yoo Jung, Yeo Jin Goo and Kim So Hyun, for me, are my little three Musketeers. The three little stars of the Moon Embracing the Sun, and I watch them grow up through drama all these years. They hold a special place in my heart and I want them to be the best of who they are. And all these years, I saw Yeo Jin Goo and Kim So Hyun, whose acting improved over the years, but sadly I feel like Kim Yoo Jung, hasn't found her perfect role yet. Her last dazzling performance was Love in the Moonlight, but after that, I felt like she never fit into her roles in dramas.

Sadly yet again her characters didn't fit well with her role as Do Do Hee in the drama, My Demon. I saw her effort, but sadly it fell short of my expectations.

My Demon, the drama overall is interesting and fun but at the same time lacks substance, the depth a drama should have. The story was quick to come to conclusions and didn't manage to bring out anything of value to anything.

The ONLY thing that I have to praise is the amazing visuals brought by Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung. The couple was the only thing that got me salivating for the entire 16 episodes. Although the two lack chemistry and the awkwardness was obvious from time to time, the dazzling visuals when these two are together just blew my breath away.

My Demon ❤️

My Demon was one of the best dramas in 2023 it had everything in it I enjoy about k dramas. Song Kang and Kin Yu Jung was perfect together they had amazing chemistry together which made the drama even better. All the actors did a wonderful job. This drama had everything i enjoy about kdramas it had romance and beautiful scenery plus a happy ending together. This kind of roll really suits Song Kang he is a amazing actor I realky liked him in Neverless and know like him even more. Kim You Jung she has always been my favorite female actress since I started watching kdramas. I hope they will do a historical romantic drama together as the ML and FL wuth a happy ending together. I do not have and negative thjng to say avout this drama abd I will mist definitely rewatch it.

peaked at the dance fight scene and it went downhill from there.

seriously though I found the "murder mystery" extremely uninteresting and predictable.

Dohee and Guwon were cute to watch together and I enjoyed seeing Lee Sangyi. I did not like how they wrote Gayoung, she felt like an annoying addition that just wasted time. The connection between Guwon and Dohee and her parents felt weird and forced.

Overall, this drama was terrible but it didn't really do anything that was not seen before.

this was such a fun watch i love it sm. i had started watching this abruptly i had no plans of watching this after i had finished love next door (given it took me so much time to finish love next door) nevertheless i finished it so fast and im so happy i did
my demon i ofc about jung guwon a modern day demon who has his own way of living. he meets do dohee who is an up and coming chaebol and has her own company. they keep meeting due to circumstances and fall into a contract marriage eventually falling in love
i loved their dynamic sm, apart from sweet home i believe this is song kang's best work. i would love to see him in another ceo comedy drama he looked so handsome and it suit him so well. they looked perfect with each-other and i would be happy if they were cast together again tho that is a very rare occurrence in kdrama world
this is the perfect romcom with just the right amount of mystery

Well paced and with interesting ideas

Honestly, I think the pacing and the structure of this drama is one its strongest points. With a lot of dramas, they simply run out of plot halfway through, making them boring and hard to finish. This one, however, spreads the plot points out pretty well, so there's always some drama or loose end to look forward to resolve next.

The last episode ties everything really nicely. Other positive aspects are the OST, which is very emotional, borderline melancholic, with a special shot out to Say You Love Me. The acting is also solid. As someone who watched earlier works of Kim Yoojung, it's nice to see her evolution. Song Kang also manages to imprint a lot of charm to a character that might who, otherwise, could easily be considered annoying and callous (at the beginning, since as the story progresses he shows some loser energy that I rather like). The both of them have a lot of chemistry together, too.

The drama does touch on important but delicate subjects, such as domestic violence, class discrimination and child abuse in a way that I can appreciate. Although charcaters like Dogyeong and his mother, despite having done terrible things and facing the dire consequences of their actions, still receive some sympathy in the last episode, after all, they were also victims of and abusive father/husband.

I think the drama has some interesting concepts as well. The way God is portrayed is very interesting and refreshing, as more of a neutral being who's there to acompany hmanity on our journey rather than interfere. Although they play with the idea of fate, I appreciate that the writers also highlight our choices are what makes our fate. The whole implementation of demons and Christian concepts is cool, not something I've seen much in dramas before. The endings the characters get feel very much like some sort of divine or biblical retribution, the "punish the wicked and reward the just" sort of thing, which makes sense with the religious themes.

I had only some minor gripes with the drama as a whole. Honetly, the fact that everyone seems to be made of titanium and simply refuses to die bothered me quite a bit. People are involved in car accidents, explosions, jump from buildings and still somehow survive. Also, I wish the whole demon lore would've been better explored. Guwon seems to be the only demon to exist, except he's only 200 years old and the concept of demons has existed much before that. Also, how come demons were once humanity's guardian's and suddenly became entities to tempt them and send them to hell? What changed exactly?

The female rivalry was also extremely annoying. It's such a tired concept, please. At least Gayoung got a redemption later. I think sometimes the drama makes the characters a bit dumb just to propel the plot forward. Dohee gets multiple attempts on her life, and she still walks around alone just so the culprit can get to her. But, honestly, these negative points are, mostly, minor things and didn't damage my experience much.

Also, can I just say, Seokhoon is a cutie and I'd totally watch a drama where he's the male lead! If the story was about him and Dohee I'd have liked it just the same. At least he got a good ending. The endings in general are very satisfying, I think. So this drama is definitely a big recommendation to everyone!

Heartwarming and Different

My Demon starts as a stylish and quite different series. The two leads are both independent and confident and really have little time for each other, resulting in some fun sparring. As the series progresses, their character and their story play out showing the fate that binds them. The story is a very moral one and is full of twists and turns, with a surprising ending.

The cast are the absolute stars of the show with Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang playing their hearts out with some very real chemistry (which will have you reaching for your phone to see if they're an item in real life). The supporting cast are really great too with a special nod to Kim Hae Sook as Madam Ju.

The cinematography and musical score are the icing on the cake. Very stylish and very well done.

Personal Rating:
Story: 10
Acting and Cast: 9.8
Music: 9.9
Cinematography: 9.7

Overall: 98/100

A BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE.

I have no words for this drama. It was beautiful and told a fantastic story. It has the perfect mix of romance, comedy, action and mystery/thriller. There were times when watching this drama that I laughed, cried, smiled and was left at the edge of my seat.

I understand this may not suit everyone's tastebuds or reach everyone's expectations but it's worth watching. It gives off 'Destined with You' vibes but this is better. 'Destined with you', is great but I wish it delved into the fantasy genre more whereas, 'My demon' dives into fantasy just enough.

The main characters:
𝑫𝒐 𝑫𝒐 𝑯𝒆𝒆:
Kim Yoo-Jung is the perfect actress for this role. She's incredibly talented and knows how to portray any emotion perfectly. Her visuals are amazing and she's gorgeous. She depicts Do Do Hee as a hardworking and diligent, self-made chaebol who often blames herself for things that are not her fault.

𝑱𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑮𝒖 𝑾𝒐𝒏:
Song Kang did well playing out this character. Maybe not his most impressive role. He depicts a demon whose existence is built off of looking down at insignificant humans. But everything changes, once he meets Do Do Hee. He starts to adore these insignificant humans.

𝑱𝒊𝒏 𝑮𝒂 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈:
Jo Hye Joo flawlessed this role. She managed to make me hate AND like her character. At first, Jin Ga Young is a jealous, second female lead. She's annoying and gets in the way a lot. But then, we start to see her miserable backstory, and why she adores the ML. In the end, she accepts the FL and ML's relationship and wishes them happiness and saves a child who was experiencing the same abuse she was.

𝑱𝒖 𝑺𝒆𝒐𝒌 𝑯𝒐𝒐𝒏:
He wasn't very annoying and you could tell he deeply cares about Do Do Hee. It was great that he never betrayed her, and that he ended up as the chairman.

𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
- Kim Yoo-Jung and Song Kang have amazing chemistry and they both have great visuals.
- Many twists and turns imo, that keep you hooked even until the last episodes.

ot might sound like i’m exaggerating

when i tell u guys that this is the best k-drama i’ve ever seen, i mean it. i love the plot, i love the story, the actors, literally EVERYTHING. i still can’t get over the fact that some people don’t like it, when i looked at teh rest of the reviews i was SHOCKED. i’ve watched this show right as it came out on loklok, it’s not because somebody recommended it, i just saw the poster and thought it was gonna be cool. i know that everybody skips intros and wtv, but this intro? it’s different, i used to watch it every. single. time. it’s just amazing. the choice of actors and cast is amazing, the main characters have so much chemistry and they look so good together. and the rest of the cast are chosen well. every actor matches it’s role in the show. i don’t really remember the names but hhe two secertaries were so funny. i don’t think

It surprises me every episodes

This drama literally has all genres. At first, it may seem predictable but I too was wrong… it kept unlocking so many plots, so many twist and turns. The mystery to the story is what kept me hooked up. I’ve read so many discussions, theories and assumptions of viewers around the world and its so interesting how mind boggling it is. The actors are great at portraying their roles, they gave me all sorts of emotions. The romcom, the fantasy, the thrill, and the historical drama w/c I loved about kdrama was present too. It’s so hilarious, heart warming and heart breaking at the same time.

A very "re-watchable" worthy Romcom Mystery drama

It's the type of drama that reminds you why you love watching kdramas in the first place.

I'm sure most of you have the same concerns when it comes to Song Kang being the main lead in dramas. He wasn't an A-List celebrity and hasn't made a big name for himself in the acting industry yet so his dramas wasn't always a "must watch". I was a little hesitant to start this drama at first but it was always trending #1 on Netflix so I decided to give it a try. I love Kim Yoojung in romance dramas like Lovers of the Red Sky, Backstreet Rookie and Love in the Moonlight, so I was like "why not?" Went in with no expectations but boy was I wrong for doubting the quality of this drama because the ending of the first ep left me breathless and I immediately binge watched 5 episodes after that.

I think the production value, the soundtrack and the chemistry made this a very enjoyable romance drama. The ending for every episode is very pretty and it made you feel "things". The soundtrack and the editing works very well to make you feel like you're really watching a "romance Kdrama". It brings out this very romantic feeling that made you feel like you're in love yourself. Song Kang and Kim Yoojung were dubbed as the 'visual couple' in this drama and their charms definitely brought out the 'rewatchable' value. The two of them also brought out their emotions very well and I was so touched I cried for the first time in a drama.

Their chemistry gets better and better as the episode goes on, it makes you wonder if the actors were attracted to each other in real life. They felt shy in the first few episodes but their chemistry gets better it becomes perfect. You can feel that the actors genuinely enjoyed the kiss scenes in the episodes. Every interaction felt very natural and enjoyable to watch. Curiosity got to me so I watched the behind the scenes for every episode and they seemed to get along very well with each other off screens too. Their behind the scenes became a hot topic on twitter, weibo and tiktok, it's always trending in the searches and everyone seemed to be very invested in this couple's relationship and chemistry off screens? I can guarantee there's definitely some sort of attraction between the two. Don't believe me? Watch it yourself.

Plot-wise it was pretty interesting (imo), some people may think it's very cliche but that's actually the writers setting a trap for you. They tried to make it look like a cliche romance drama but there's actually plot twists in every ending of the episodes. There's like 4 different mysteries going on in this drama and the mysteries slowly reveal themselves. Each one leaves you more shocked than the other. I was pretty hooked on the plot because the drama seemed very uplifting but it's actually pretty dark?

Overall, it's a very uplifting, romantic, sweet and cute romance drama with a hint of mystery and very dark themes. I think Song Kang found his color in acting for this one. This character fits his real life personality very well. Kim Yoojung too, it's refreshing to see her as a mature and headstrong character. It's NOT a cliche drama where the male lead always have to save the damsel in distress to satisfy the audience. The couple balanced each other pretty well in this one, both male and female characters save and mend each other in their ways. It also feel like there's no gender barrier between the two, there's a very satisfying equality in their relationship and it feels very healthy.

Song Kang definitely made himself noticeable in this drama. He's never in my list for good looking Korean male actors but whatever they've done here with him, whether it's the styling or the mullet adjacent hair, i couldn't stop myself from re-watching every close up scene of him making those expressions. He made the best expressions in this drama and I can say he improved a lot in acting. Kim Yoojung is pretty good too, as a more mature and headstrong female lead in this one. It's very refreshing to watch the two of them together.

I couldn't help myself but gave it a 10/10 for this drama. The plot, the soundtrack, the actors, the chemistry, it fits the type of drama I'm looking for and I love it so much I even bought the soundtrack album myself so it's definitely a must watch if you love romantic dramas. Not your cup of tea if you expect a more fast-paced drama. If you're a person that loves romance, this is for you. if not, watch it to relieve some stress.

fyi: i know kpop idols like zhanghao and ricky watched my demon too. possibly because it's so popular in china and they're both c-line idols. you should def give it a watch if you're a die hard romantic

My Demon. My review.

Soo Good. Loved every episode.
It is a somewhat unique story line of fated Loves and the trials faced to be together all interlaced with a few mysteries from past and present for our characters.
The whole cast is amazing from main leads to our villian(s) to the supporting charaters. The visuals of Song Kang & Kim You-Hung are well matched in every scene. Amazing soundtrack!
