English and Portuguese Review

𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥
I started My Demon just to kill some time, without expecting anything. A lot of people had spoken badly about it, so I went in prepared to drop it halfway… but I ended up getting a lot more into it than I imagined.

The drama isn’t just romance; there are many storylines that start being explored after the death of the female protagonist’s parents. The series has suspense, tragedy, mystery, revenge, investigation, and even action scenes. And the supernatural part involving the demon protagonist was something I really liked.
One thing that surprised me were the reflections about life and humanity. The drama talks about free will, destiny, human selfishness, and even actions considered inhumane, showing moments where humans can be worse than the devil himself.
The humor also really got me. There are several characters who are pure comic relief, and they genuinely made me enjoy watching it, not letting the story be only about tension.

A questão do humor me pegou muito. Tem vários personagens que são puro alívio cômico e realmente me fez me divertir assistindo, não contendo apenas tensão em seu enredo.

Review from all aspects

Overall it was a nice drama to watch
It reminds you of how dramas used to be when you first started to watch dramas . It's a very standard plot , they met something happens and you see how they deal with the situation and then the end . It has it's comedy part and it's nice ost and music. The romance was a bit " intense " at first but it went on smoothly ( which put me off a bit , but that's my opinion). As for the action part it was nice but I have watched better stuff (personal opinion here) but you may like it . The acting was goodd and the outfits were perfect. Furthermore you could tell that the cinematography was about to be professional.I would rate this 7/10 only because there was no big plot twist that would make the story a bit more interesting. It's a nice smooth fantasy romance so I think you should give it a try since you don't have anything to lose.

Not Bad but Not Good either

this show was good, yes but the storyline got boring the moment they started to fall for each other. Before that, I was extremely curious about the culprit's identity and the backstory behind his villain arc but after it turned out to be Noh Suk-min, it decreased my interest in that show even more. The beginning was perfect. From Eps 1-10, I watched the series without even sleeping but it got more and more boring as the episodes progressed. But still, this show was very good. Just wish that the FL didn't just act expressionless while the ML was being portrayed as a cheerful, devoted husband character because by the end, they both became highly annoying. But still, a great watch. Highly recommended.

Loved how it wrapped up

My Demon did a really good job of being what it is: a fantasy romance. It is imperfect, but it has far more ups than downs, even considering the bizarrely implausible nonsensical demise/non-demise of a main character.

My biggest kudos go to FL Kim You Jung. Some actors act the role, others inhabit the role. Kim You Jung crawled into the character of Do Do Hee and gave it everything. She is marvelously expressive, every character emotion perfectly timed and absolutely believable.

Kim Tae Hoon was icily malevolent as Noh Suk Min. He deserved a more sensible wrap up for his character.

Kim Hae Sook is so so so good as Joo Chun Sook. She's one of my favorite character actors and must be everyone else's favorite too because she's in EVERYTHING. And she's so wonderful she needs to keep being in EVERYTHING.

The fantasy was well conceived and executed, thanks in part to atmospheric shot composition and cinematography. The romance between the leads was smoking. They were adorable together. I could have done without the early episodes' tryst with the Enemies to Lovers trope, but it resolved quickly, if not quite quickly enough for me.

I don't usually have the patience to track multiple character development arcs, but I got invested in each one in My Demon. Script writer Choi Ah Il did a wonderful job wrapping them all up after taking exactly the time it needed to do them justice.

I love it but i wish they have given more...

I watched because a lot of my friends suggested this to me. On the first eps im really hooked maybe also because of the main lead's chemistry but the story and plot was somewhat got lost on the last eps but its still good for me. I laughed, cried, felt sad throughout. It's a typical "fate" type of a story in kdramas but i will always still ate it up so 😸😸 How also they didn't focus merely on the fact that he's a demon but also showed the people's own evilness and demon.

I love that its a happy ending too, idk about u all but i love my kdramas with happy endings idc if its unrealistic but its a fantasy drama in the first place so! Also, i love that they made the male lead still immortal because it stays with their "fate" plot that even on their next life they will always find each other thing.

On the main leads, they played it well even the side actors. I didn't know Song Kang can play comedy lol and throughout the drama, one thing is always on mind - HE'S SO INSANELY BEAUTIFUL😭😭 the same goes with the female lead, i always knew her and watched her past dramas and i know she will always kill it.

For the OST, i love it too! it carries the fantasy vibe of the story. I added all of it on my playlist.

Overall, its a typical fantasy drama that's been going on in kdramas but it still delivered! Song Kang in here is like a breathe of fresh air for me. Would recommended but will i rewatch it? maybe? it didn't really leaves an impact to me or that feeling of wanting to see it again and again but who knows i might find myself watching it. If you're a sucker for fantasy & romance drama, this ones for you.

It couldn't decide what it wanted to be

My typical disclaimer: This is totally my opinion, so please don't come at me with hate.
I will admit to being a romance junkie. I love sweetness, cuteness, and happiness. I was so looking forward to the pairing of Song Kang and Kim You Jung. But, to me, this one seemed like it was all over the place, trying to find a place to land.

Story: Not original by any stretch of the imagination. I kept thinking that I'd seen certain things in other dramas and the one that stuck out the most was him burning up, a la Goblin. So, he became a demon because he killed himself? If the crazy family member that died in jail became a demon as well, that would have been interesting. So, we've got the past lives that we've seen so many times. I do have to say that the past lives parts were beautifully filmed. Slow motion of her dancing with the swords, her hanbok billowing out, that was lovely. Evil family - check. Red herrings - check. 2ML Lee Sang Yi as Seok Hoon has the look of a villain and they took advantage of that. That character had no purpose other than to show that someone else is pining over the FL. The title of the drama could have been better titled "You think you're a demon? Wait until you meet my family!" Yikes, so much evil. Irritating 2FL that will do pretty much anything to get the ML - check (I am SO tired of this!) Quest for power - check. Everyone in the family has their own wants, they all hate each other and will do anything to gain power. Female hobo that is God - the thing that stuck out most to me was in some scenes they forgot to use makeup to make her teeth look rotten. Then we had the obligatory "things that make you go hmmm" scenes. The police couldn't arrest the bad guy because they didn't have enough evidence? They had him dead to rights, yet they arrested her with no evidence, mainly because she didn't do it! When Koo Won went away toward the end of the drama, where did he go? He went away, but not, he'd come to her at night. And can I just say this woman must be a REALLY deep sleeper if she never knows that he's rubbing her hair, her face, and getting in the bed with her.

Acting: Good, except for the sister of the head guy in the family. She was seriously overacting.

I normally put what I liked at the top, but in this case, I had to rate lower because of all of the above.

CHEMISTRY: Oh, so, good. Both romantically and comedically. They were just such a darling couple together. The wardrobe department dressed them in complimentary outfits, so the attention was on them and their actions. And it doesn't need to be said, but I'll say it, both Song Kang and Kim You Jung are SERIOUSLY beautiful. If I could have seen more of them and less of everything else, my rating would have been much higher.

Kim Hae Sook at Chun Sook. I LOVE her in everything, and when she got killed off early on, I was mad! But here, I was glad of all the scenes where she showed up to comfort Do Hee. The Christmas scene with her, and her family, at gift to Do Hee from Koo Won, was especially beautiful.

I wouldn't tell anyone to run away from the drama if they asked, but I can't really recommend it either. I was so disappointed. I kept holding off on watching it because I thought it was going to be my new favorite. Alas, it was not to be.

Side characters were funny

I don’t usually take to k-Humour… but I found this drama quite funny;) Kudos especially to the side characters- the office colleagues, the two assistants and the Wild Dogs gang! Amidst the dark, mystery thriller plot, their light -heartedness and slapstick comedy made it quite enjoyable.

Of course the visuals of both Song Kang and Kim You Jung speaks for itself, and their chemistry was quite believable. Stylist did a good job with his and hers outfits and hair.

Some of the underlining storyline and character roles were a little confusing, and it can be a little scary with some scenes. All in all it was a good watch.

Perfect balance of fantasy and romance

My Demon surprised me with how well they managed to do a romance drama while still keeping the fantasy elements all the way through, and keeping an entertaining storyline. I will say that most of the twists were fairly predictable, but even still the story itself was very enjoyable to watch.

Jung Gu-won (Song Kang) plays a demon who makes deals with people in exchange for their soul. Additionally, he has powers that essentially make him invincible. Do Do-hee (Kim Yoo-jung) is the CEO's favorite potential successor of Mirae group, though she's the only non-blood related candidate. This naturally creates tension within the family of this corporation, and the lengths to which the other family members are willing to go to in order to destroy Do-hee become clear as the story progresses. When a twist of fate bring Gu-won and Do-hee together, they both reluctantly become reliant on each other, which leads to unexpected romance between them.

Overall, a great fantasy romance. They somehow managed to hit every romance trope and still pull off each one. The actors have great chemistry together, and the development of the relationship is well-paced and fun to watch.

Goethe’s Faust as a Fantasy Romance Drama?

Ok, not entirely but “My Demon” definitely contains many elements of Goethe’s famous classic drama “Faust”. “My Demon”, however, is awesome and sweet. A very enjoyable fantasy romance drama.

The acting is very good, and I really mean every actor. There is not a single weak performance and every actor matches the character that they play perfectly. The good cast elevates a story that is probably not that new and innovative. But the story is also well paced. After every comedic passage the tragic twists hit me in the guts.

“My Demon” throws quite a lot of things in the mix that can or cannot be believed and/or can or cannot be criticized - rebirths, God/universe, heaven, hell, various religions … Sometimes humans are eviler than the devil himself. Human greed and moral corruptness are infinite and the few pure souls are being crushed.

However, the final episode ultimately proves that we aren’t watching a classic tragedy but a romance drama where good wins over evil - those that are able to love and make sacrifices find salvation. Although, we as the audience have to swallow some sad moments along the way. The ending is VERY sweet - for some maybe too sweet - and entirely glosses over the past deeds of the demon and the perspectives of a relationship between an immortal and a mortal person.

But even if you don’t like the story at all, you can still enjoy “My Demon” simply by marveling over the handsomeness of its two leads, Kim Yoo Jeong and Song Kang, (and their outfits - kudos to the costume designers). These two people are incredibly gorgeous individually but together they are UNREAL - and their unrealness is probably one of the points this drama wants to make…

About making choices, greed and doing the right thing

I like this drama based on fantasy and supernatural. As human we tend to make decisions irrationally, then get you into trouble feeling regrets. The demon or angel in the story just gives you the feeling that there is no other way out but to take the deal from him. Dunno if I will do that. In my opinion this drama had presented a lot of whys and how the hell questions for me with those situations feeling helpless and desperate. We argue, hate and destroy each other, and we also love, help and save each other in the end. Happiness comes from misfortunes? and other trivial things. Feeling happy IMO is all different experience. It's an okay drama for me. I cried a little over the FL feeling sad and alone in some scenes with flashbacks of losing parents and having to love your savior and be abandoned again. Will I rewatch this? maybe or maybe not.

Not the Biggest Fan.

I was watching this with a friend and while it made it better, it still felt like ten nuclear bombs came at me an episode. It was overwhelming and yet the plot kept lulling in certain areas and it felt like it dragged itself out. Some plot points, such as the final arc, were incredibly out of left field.
I enjoyed every character in the cast except the male lead, and all of the side characters and side stories were great.

A Visual & Emotional Fantasy Epic

The Story: A Contract with a Demon
My Demon tells the story of Do Do-hee, a "devilish" and cynical heiress of a massive conglomerate who trusts no one, and Jeong Gu-won, a powerful demon who has spent centuries making deals with humans. Their lives become dangerously intertwined when Gu-won temporarily loses his supernatural powers, which are somehow transferred to Do-hee. This momentary loss of power ironically brings them together, leading to a contract marriage and a search for happiness amidst chaos.
My Personal Take: Fated to Fight
What struck me most about this drama was the "twisted fate" the couple shared.
The Past Life Connection: The plot revealed that their souls have been connected since a past life, which ended in tragedy. This added a heavy layer of fear—the fear that history would repeat itself.
Fighting for Love: I loved watching them face their individual battles just to stay by each other's side. It wasn't just about magic; it was about the human (and demon) will to change their destiny.
The Ending (Spoiler-Free)
Going into this, I was terrified it would have a sad ending. However, I was so relieved that it has a great, happy ending. Even when things look dire for the Demon, the story brings it back around in a way that respects their love and completes their journey.
Key Takeaways & Favorite Lines
This drama left me with some really profound thoughts:
"One shall never say never."
"Happiness has no meaning without misfortune."
Final Verdict
A perfect blend of Fantasy, Rom-Com, Sci-Fi, and Action. If you want a drama with top-tier visuals, a "past-lives" mystery, and a couple that will do anything for one another, this is it.
