Blossoms in Adversity — a Topnotch!
First of all, I really don't have that much to say to this drama. It's just that the storyline was unique and it caught my attention. Then, the acting skills were above the average. Zhang Jingyi being the competent and independent female lead "Hua Zhi", gave so much representation that we should be calm and decisive in times of hardships. Plus, Hu Yitian played the role of Gu Yanxi is also a superb as he is so protective; they're a perfect match. That's why, this drama is so recommended to watch!Was this review helpful to you?
Truly empowering and heart warming!
The plot was one of the best I've watched in a while. I know dramas nowadays focus on female empowerment and this drama really did a great job in that aspect. A household of women who have never worked a day in their lives and yet, they beat the odds. I felt so empowered by the scenes where everyone gathered together to run the family business. That's my dream right there. I cant explain how warm and fluffy this drama made me feel. She's also very human. She's strong, resilient, independent, yes but she makes mistakes too. She feels real. I like that about her too.Focusing on the romance, it wasnt too much. It completely matched their personalities. It was gentle and unboasting. I loved it.
Casting. I think the actress was a great choice! She looks resilient. Not your typical damsel in distress. Also love the side couples!! Shaoyao and Shen Huan couple was such an interesting soft delve into interabled relationships? Kinda like Attorney Woo. HOWEVER I dont know how I feel about Hu YiTian as the male lead. I've only ever watched him in A Love So Beautiful and he gets the stoic characters down. Gu Yanxi has a lot more depth to his character and I dont think Hu YiTian is quite there yet. He spends a lot of the drama with an empty look on his face 😂 I still like him as Gu Yanxi though. Also Caesar Wu, I cant take him seriously! This character type is so drastically different from the "monster" general in General's Lady.
Overall, I really enjoyed the drama!
ps. Im not a rewatcher. I tend to only watch shows once and call it a day.

A PURE GEM ヾ(◍’౪`◍)ﾉﾞ♡
Historical series "strong woman" with Hu Yi Tian as ML and Zhang Jing Yi as FL, with a touch of mystery/investigation.+ a super cute CL, with great chemistry. One of Hu Yi Tian's best roles, where he abandons his "cold" or poker face appearance, and his micro expressions are brilliant. His fighting performances are impressive ヾ(◍’౪`◍)ﾉﾞ♡ I also really like Zhang Jing Yi (discovered in “Lighter and princess) who brings to life a fantastic FL.
+ All the actors are excellent and bring endearing characters to life. I really appreciated the Sen Huan & Sao Yao couple, very refreshing.
+ Coherent, realistic, intelligent story. No useless love triangle, no lasting misunderstanding... That's good!
+ Fast, skillful production (all the knowledge of Chu Yui Bun, distinguished director) with the right balance of suspense, action, romance. The slow motion effects on Yanxi's arrival scenes are excellent. No length in 40 episodes, it's rare! I enjoyed every scene.
+ Very good OSTs
SOME LITTLE FLAWS:
- the CGI is sometimes too obvious (somewhere low quality). For example, 2 small sails for a "cargo" boat, ... Also the number of dolphins following the boats, is completely unrealistic and spoils the effect.
=> A series that I will certainly rewatch with pleasure in a few months.

Série historique "strong woman" avec Hu Yi Tian en ML et Zhang Jing Yi en FL, avec une touche de mystère / investigation.
+ un CL super cute, avec une great alchimie. Un des meilleurs rôles de Hu Yi Tian, où il abandonne son aspect "cold" ou poker face, et ses micro expressions sont géniales. + Tous les acteurs sont excellents et donnent vie à des personnages attachants. J'ai beaucoup apprécié le couple Sen Huan & Sao Yao, très rafraichissant.
+ Story cohérente, réaliste, intelligente. Pas de love triangle inutile, pas de malentendu qui dure ... ça fait du bien !
+ Réalisation rapide, habile (tout le savoir-faire de Chu Yui Bun, réalisateur émérite) avec le juste équilibre de suspense, action, romance. Les effets de ralenti sur les scènes d'arrivée de Yanxi sont excellents. Pas de longueur en 40 épisodes, c'est rare ! J'ai savouré chaque scène.
+ Très bons OST
SOME LITTLE FLAWS:
- les CGI sont parfois trop évidents (pas de grande qualité). Par exemple, 2 petites voilures pour un bateau "cargo", ... Surtt, le nombre de dauphins qui suivent les bateaux est tout à fait irréaliste et gâche l'effet.
=> Une série que je regarderai certainement avec plaisir, à nouveau, dans quelques mois.

I love a strong FL and strong ML
This was a great historical drama. I love a strong FL and strong ML.No boring episodes for me. All characters played their role well.
The leads had great chemistry from the start (when they just met).
They had mutual love and respect for each and they werent shy to show it.
Eventually, he had to share who he really was and she respected him for his work even though she didn't like most of what he had to do for the majesty.
You just have to watch it to understand because this has a great storyline that will keep you entertained and there are some comedic scenes.
I really admire the FL and her family, when they went to nothing and their bond grew stronger til they made it back into society....
You wont regret watching it!!!!

Surprise!
I stumbled on this drama when I was bored and decided to start watching as the 6 first episodes were in. I had no expectations as I went in blind since the story seemed interesting and I'm always happy to watch a strong competent FL.Now I'm oh so happy I chose it, the scenario looks well written, the scenery, costumes, the music, the cast all look great, for now.
The first episodes are a blast and I can't wait to watch the whole story. I'm just afraid their eye candy facet gets too much attention compared to character development and emotion.
Now I have a lot of hope for this drama but I'll be adapting the wait and "watch" approach, I'll come back at the end to update should there be any change.

Im loving the flow of the story overall! Episode 7 really caught my heart TT (It was this scene where hua zhi realized that the older women and the old man servant were looking for her and TRULY cared enough to look for her because she has always felt ignored by others..) although I'm still not halfway yet, the story is already heartwarming and is giving me alot of wisdom and learnings! The actress really suites Hua zhi so much! I've known her ever since her old series called "Fall in love" was released! In the story, everyone's lives (such as the wives) were realistic and both sides were shown including their flaws (made me mad sometimes lol) and experiences in life which were quite eye-opening. Everyone's small backstories (mainly the women in the family) were seen too so im very interested in how these group of women would turn out to be at the end of the story.. I can't wait for more episodes already (especially the romance hihi)!Was this review helpful to you?
The plot is good. Writing is decent. I find the pacing a bit slow, with zero build-up. I can foresee the story dragging, offering no grip to keep me going.

Generic Female Empowerment Snoozefest
Blossoms in Adversity is yet another female empowerment series centered on the female lead and her Hua family, which through circumstance becomes entirely matriarchal. This is very much a family drama with romance and political intrigue serving more as seasoning than the main driving force. Action is lackluster. The male lead is deliberately restrained to allow the female lead to shine even brighter. The series avoids most toxic tropes, but pacing issues often make it feel like a slog to get through. UNA STORIA DI RISCATTO E DI EMANCIPAZIONE (NON UNA STORIA D'AMORE)
Avrei potuto dare un 9 ma ci sono degli aspetti che hanno penalizzato e non mi hanno proprio convinto.La storia è molto bella, ben scritta, qualcosa di nuovo che illustra la condizione della donna, con un cast , quasi esclusivamente femminile, nell'antica cina imperiale, e i tentativi di sopravvivenza di queste donne che compiono un percorso di profonda evoluzione personale guidati dalla protagonista, un personaggio coraggioso, propositivo, audace, anticonvenzionale e progressista. La storia ruota intorno alle sue azioni e alle conseguenze delle stesse sulla famiglia che si riscatta non solo da una situazione tragica ma riesce a risollevarsi; queste donne tutte diverse e succubi, come delle fenici, risorgono dalle ceneri della distruzioni e vincono la battaglia in primis con loro stesse. Solo per questo aspetto il drama meriterebbe la visione , l'idea è da 10.
Costumi e colonna sonora personalmente non mi hanno stregata, ho visto serie più accurate e precise.
Quello che penalizza la valutazione è senz'altro la scelta dei protagonisti e delle loro prestazioni recitative, la protagonista è poco espressiva e ci voleva più complessità dato che si porta in scena un lavoro molto sfaccettato , pieno di vicissitudini, avventure, personaggi, la sua gestione facciale è quasi sempre la medesima. Stessa cosa devo dire per il ML, perfetto fisicamente sia per il ruolo che per le scene di azione ma emotivamente inaccessibile lungo tutto il percorso delle 40 puntate.
Questo ha tolto molta intensità e intenzione alla storia d'amore che in definitiva non mi sembra credibile, e l'amore dei personaggi secondari mi ha quasi emozionata di più (non sono l'unica che lo scrive). Peccato!
Chi parla di chimica tra i due personaggi forse ha visto un'altra serie o ci ha proiettato dentro il proprio film mentale perché vi assicuro che le interazioni sono fredde, cordiali e distaccate senza commozione o coinvolgimento visibile, c'è palesemente finzione che qualsiasi spettatore può vedere (e l'attore bravo deve ingannare lo spettatore altrimenti non si entra emotivamente nella storia). A me sono sembrati due amici , lui è tra gli uomini più freddi e meno convinti e decisi mai visti in 50 drama finora seguiti.
A livello di recitazioni salvo solo mezza dozzina di personaggi, tra cui la terza signora, la sorella del protagonista, il sesto principe ... . La protagonista assolutamente non all'altezza.
Non dare peso alla storia d'amore, sebbene possa essere una scelta voluta dalla regia risaltare maggiormente le storie e le evoluzioni personali dei personaggi ha tolto molta emozione romantica, sebbene ne resti comunque tanta legata tutta al riscatto e alle vicissitudini di queste donne meravigliose, prima nemiche poi amiche e con senso di famiglia, prima distanti, poi unite... ho pianto sì nel corso della visione, diverse volte ma mai per quello che riguardava la coppia dei protagonisti, le loro interazioni hanno finito per lasciarmi sempre più indifferente, sicché sul finale mi importava davvero poco che finissero insieme. Con altri attori e con un'emotività più variegata questo lavoro avrebbe avuto l'intensità tale da diventare il lavoro migliore di questo 2024.
Lo consiglio? Sì ma non a chi cerca drama per le storie d'amore. Leggi di più

Gran serie de autosuperación
Es una buena serie. No tiene ese no se qué de algunas series que te dejan "sin aliento". No tiene grandes momentos espectantes ni nada. La serie tiene una trama simple, pero buena. Lo que más destaco no es tanto la pareja principal ni los actores, si no el hecho de como la familia se fue transformando y fueron autosuficientes, superandose en cada momento. Es una gran serie de autosuperación. Me gustó la actitud de la actriz principal. Si bien la serie tiene romance, no la categorizaría como una serie de romance. Protagonista feminina incrível
Acho que nunca vi uma protagonista tão generosa, bondosa e determinada. Simplesmente carregou o drama nas costas, me fez ficar ansiosa para que ela alcança-se seus objetivos todas as vezes que traçava um plano. Espetacular, simplesmente sem defeitos, eu a amei do início ao fim. Muito resiliente , e uma jovem de bom coração, sempre disposta a a ajudar a quem precisa. Para além disso, uma líder nata. Incrível como ela assumiu sua família tão jovem e foi capaz de tirá-las da miséria em que foram largadas.O protagonista, para além de lindo, me irritou um pouco; se não fosse seu rostinho bonito, eu com certeza iria o detestar. Em alguns momentos eu o odiei, pois ele era um fantoche do imperador, o que foi um fator crucialmente conflitante para que ele e a protagonista ficassem juntos. Sei que não havia muito o que ele fazer, mas em diversos momentos onde o imperador deveria ter sido morto ele atrapalhou os planos. A Zhi também se intrometeu algumas vezes, mas eu relevo para ela.
Os papéis secundários foram maravilhosos, as servas (e depois não servas) da Zhi eram incríveis, me apaixonei por cada uma delas. Passei raiva com algumas tias, e com a mãe de Zhi, mas durante o desenrolar elas se mostraram uma família incrível e acolhedora. Me entristeci muito na morte da avó de Zhi, chorei muito quando a Imperatriz Viúva compareceu ao seu funeral. Foi de cortar o coração. Me cortou também o coração a morte da Rong, apenas uma jovem cheia de vida, esperando um neném, e encontrou um destino trágico. Eu culpo o marido dela por ter a levado para longe da família e a inserido em sua família suja, mesmo que ele soubesse de tudo que acontecia e de como seu pai era um crápula.
Não sei se o casal principal teve muito química, embora achasse os momentos deles fofos, acho que o drama tinha como foco principal a Zhi e sua crise familiar, o que eu amei, nada melhor do que ver mulheres se apoiando e ganhando suas vidas sozinhas. Foi realmente incrível. O assistente do nosso protagonista também me deixou com uma leve quedinha por ele, o achei fofo. Achei muitas pessoas fofas hahaha o Sr Sheng também, gostei muito dele e com certeza irei atrás de trabalhos do ator. No mais, para mim, é um 10. A ost é INCRÍVEL, que abertura linda, músicas maravilhosas. Daqui uns anos, espero rever. Assisti com a minha mamãe, e ambas amamos muito o drama. Daqui uns anos, quando reassistir, lembrarei dela.

Uno de mis cdrama históricos preferidos del 2024
Me ha encantado! De esos cdramas que te vician y que harías maratón si pudieras, se me han pasado volando los 40 capítulos. La pareja principal muy bonita, con una historia de amor fuerte, unidos siempre contra las adversidades. Las historias secundarias me han interesado todas!!! Súper interesantes y emotivas, con secundarios de lujo y grandes interpretaciones!! Las mujeres de la familia Hua maravillosas!!! La hermana del protagonista suprema y su historia de amor entrañable y emocionante. Las escenas de acción espectaculares! He llorado muchas veces con esta historia, cada capítulo ha sido muy interesante y para nada tedioso! Una historia de superación, de unión familiar, de amor!
