I didn't like this season quite as much as season one. I think it was mostly because the supporting cast wasn't as interesting. I missed a lot of the office people from season one. I also felt like the story was a little more repetitive. Lots of back and forth "Do I like him/her?" type stuff.

But those are my only complaints. Hotaru and Buchou are just as cute and funny as ever, if not cuter and funnier. Their chemistry is amazing and Buchou's amazing character is helping Fujiki Naohito sneak onto my Asian Hottie List. ^_^

So, basically, not quite as good as the first season, but definitely still worth it for the main couple. I can't wait for the movie!

Hotaru No Hikari 2

If the first season revolves around the love of the female lead, in this season, it is more focused nf the love the manager has for the Ahomiya (Amemiya)..

It is romantic, funny (in some ways) and will make you realize that individuality among lovers is very important...

Love and respect goes hand in hand...

I'm probably different than the other reviewers, I LOVED this season!! I though it was funnier, the story was light and funny. Seiichi and Hotaru's interactions were downright hysterical!! There were many times that I laughed senselessly. I got the gist of the min-conflicts that Hotaru had in her insecurities of being Seiichi's future mate; I also understood his also because Hotaru was such a ditz!! I absolutely enjoyed them rolling on the floor! Goro..Goro..Goro will be embedded in my heart forever! I'm going home just so I do can do it too!!

Hotaru no Hikari 2 is a nice sequel especially with the open book ending from the previous season. The story begins exactly where it left off. The viewers are introduce to brand new obstacles that Hotaru and Buchou must face and new characters. The drama has plenty of humor that holds great throughout the show and will definitely lead to hysterically laughing - unless you don't like the humor. The storyline was engaging and made me want to watch more, especially with the quirky Seno thrown into the picture. Now, the problem I had with the series was Buchou and Hotaru's relationship, it seemed to lack that skinship (holding hands, hugging, etc.). Despite that, Hotaru no Hikari 2 was a pleasant and entertaining follow up to the last season. If you're planning to watch this, make sure you've seen the first one!

I definitely preferred Season One. Perhaps it is because in Season One the characters were new. However to suffer through another full season where the characters have not developed at all and the exact same situations occurred was difficult.

I gave the story a 6.0 because while it was so similar to the first season, it worked the first time. I didn't give it anything higher because.... it was so similar to the first season.

The acting/cast is a 4.5 because this may well be the most annoying characters I have ever experienced in my life. Between Hotaru's inability to make an decision, let alone formulate actual words, and even in her mind only thinking "boss", "boss", "boss" every five seconds....... and Takuma's mentally abusive treatment of the woman he alleges to love, I seriously couldn't stomach it. Of course, that may be less a matter of the acting, and more a matter of the writing, so I admit my score in this area is probably unfair.

I gave a 1. 0 to the music because if there was music, I have no memory of it. Evidently it left no impression.

Rewatch Value is an energetic Heck No! Otherwise known as 1.0. I won't go near this drama again ever. I enjoyed season one, so I'm bummed about season two.

If you don't want to be thoroughly bothered, and want to avoid hating the characters you learned to like in season one, stay away from season two. Just enjoy the happy memories.

The second part of Hotaru no hikari is as good as the first (or even better...?) Funny and cute. I'm Hotaru fan now! I'm glad she has changed. The boss is also great! He seems to be mature man, but he has taken some behaviors from Hotaru. He totally know this girl and he has learnt how to think like her, know everymotion!

It's fine, that the plot isn't repeated. There are some affairs, but luckily Seno and Konatsu are ok.

I waited for the wedding... but... the end is ok. Pathetic, but as always - drolly.

Hahhh Finally completed this Drama, most of people said, this drama isn't interesting anymore, yeah that's true because there are a lot of characters and dont have any chemistry each other, but if you just ignore it, and focusing about the story between Buchoo and Hotaru, it's hard for me to not give 10 rate for this drama, also the actors from previous drama have stronger chemistry than before, ex: Futatsugi and Yamada.
Though there's a minor, but to be honest, it's hard for me to not saying "THIS IS THE BEST JAPANESE DRAMA" :)

Story- The beginning is shocking. I mean this part of the story really makes Hotaru look really naive to the point where shes unlikable. The first season was written a little better. The ending was funny.

Acting- Same leads, different supporting cast. The supporting cast in this one was fine but the first season\''\''s cast had really good chemistry.

Music- average.

Overall- This season cannot beat the first season. However with the advancement of the romance between the leads it well makes up for it.

A Nice Series to Live with for a while…

When I see the romantic notion of marriage that the Japanese dramas create, I need to remind myself: Life in this world is not like that- people stay miserably married while claiming a “Happily ever after” on the surface. To be honest I never understood why or how “Bucho” fell in love with Hotaru- to be clear, Hotaru is like a mirror of myself. I can relate to her lifestyle (except for the beer part), but the need to be free in solitude and recharge my battery on my own. Honestly I don’t think she needs a man, not emotionally at least. She’s fine on her own and doesn’t like to think too deeply about things. She knows how to take care of herself- keeping a polished image at work, while being her true honest self at home. To have a man who sees that true self and genuinely falls in love with her- well, I can say it only happens in the J drama universe. And that’s why I’m here for that. Sometimes Hotaru really annoys me in this series- like how she misses so many engagements with Bucho and then apologizes each time. And she often doesn’t keep her promises. She talks a big talk and then fails to deliver. She’s constantly disappointing her fiancée in that way, to the point where at one point when she blew him off 3 times in a row he left the house to stay in a hotel to get space from her. Why? Because she’s annoying! Her way of living only works for her, so I would advocate that she should be alone and happy and free. She would be just fine alone. I think putting her in a marriage box and making her conform to the manager’s expectations is doing her sovereign lifestyle a disservice. Here are a couple more things I found annoying:

-Why is one of the tracksuit pockets always turned inside out like a floppy kidney hanging from her hip! It’s so gross and it annoys me to no end! Hotaru is lovable but she’s also annoying! How is that possible…

-How does Hotaru not have a potbelly after drinking all that beer? And does Bucho cook every single day and night, because Hotaru seems incapable of making edible food..

-Hotaru goes to Hong Kong for 3 years and doesn’t answer a single letter or email from Bucho like what on earth? But this just shows that she is more suited to live a free and single life rather than with some dude.

-How she keeps saying “Bucho” for every reply- sometimes in a scene, (I guess for humor) all she says is “Bucho” and while she is sovereign and free, she comes across as a clingy child who’s worshipping this manager- and it just sounds like an employer-employee relationship even at home. And the way she says it grates on my ears.

-What’s up with the other lady with the kid - the ex-girlfriend of Bucho? Like what in the actual heck is up with her? She continues to encourage Hotaru and Bucho’s relationship while actively sabotaging it by coyly asking Bucho to tie her Yukata, trying to sleep with him, and seduce him every chance she gets- like tie the yukata yourself you indecent woman! She really annoyed me. And then her kid turns out to be another version of herself, as she manipulates Bucho into staying the night with both of them, and then Hotaru comes to their cabin and sees Bucho lying there with this ex-girlfriend lady practically sleeping on top of him. What on earth?! How is this okay? Why wasn’t it addressed by anyone? Why didn’t Hotaru get mad and demand an explanation? Why didn’t anyone hold this sly woman accountable for her actions? And yet Bucho acts so jealous and rigid when it comes to the young crush guy that likes Hotaru even though they never did anything. Which leads me to…

-The young guy who likes Hotaru.. I feel like being a Himono-otoko himself, he could have understood Hotaru in a better way and I wish they could have deepened their relationship more. Like ditch the manager for a few months and date this guy for a change. But who knows, maybe it was just an ego thing for him, like wanting to compete with the manager to steal his woman.

Anyways in the end they show how Bucho accepts this offer in Taiwan for 3 months and she starts becoming disciplined. That was nice to see.. and then in the end they’re planning to marry I guess. Now I have to move on to the movie and see what other young crush comes along to steal away Hotaru… With that said, the actress who plays Hotaru (she’s also in Hitori de shinitai/I want to die alone)- and I think she has such a beautiful, exquisite face. I do see a pattern in her themes though, and I like it!
