An Journey Much Needed

My Lovely Journey was a drama , that might heal you, if you are broken.

The Good Points :
1. The sub plots like the mini stories in every journey she took was immensely beautiful, every journey has a meaning, a message and a take away

2. The female lead was like a pushover to most people but that's her personality, not everyone can be a BOLD person, humans are different but she has a Character development without changing her inner self , that's what I loved. Many dramas portray change in a way that the sweet girl becomes the Rude boss. She was sweet till the end, she didn't let go of her moral compass, but grew as an individual.

3. The Characters like the CEO of her company, was really a well written character, he was there throughout, it was shown he didn't have any money to keep going but he still managed things, he had his own shortcomings as a CEO, he lacked leadership but was still a Responsible.

4. The Direction and cinematography was done well. The cuts were clean, the costumes were reasonable.

The Bad aspects

1. The Male lead had no role, they didn't show his side of the story, he seemed extremely 2D, just there for female lead. They might show in season 2

2. The CEO at times felt too good to be true as well.

3. The story is a Slice of Life, they marketed it as a romance which was wrong.

The 9 Rating was definitely for the sub plots , every journey she went through, those trips were extremely good

Me quedé todo el rato esperando a que pasara algo

Drama muy bonito con una premisa que prometía mucho pero me quedé todo el rato esperando ALGO, algo que avanzara la trama.

Simplemente me aburrí.

A Journey That Never Truly Began

I started My Lovely Journey with high expectations since slice of life is my favourite genre, and with both leads coming from their popular projects Karma and The Judge from Hell, Gong Seung Yeon and Kim Jae-Young’s pairing instantly caught my attention.

On paper, it had all the right ingredients for a heartfelt, emotional story: a former idol struggling with unfulfilled dreams, a mysterious wealthy male lead hiding something beneath the surface, and a touching, almost father-daughter bond between the female lead and her company’s CEO.

It could have been a beautiful exploration of personal growth and connection, about each character’s journey and the one they take together. I truly believe that’s what the show intended to do, but unfortunately, it just never got there.

I understand they’re setting things up for Season 2, but even so, there has to be something in Season 1 that makes viewers want to come back. I kept watching every episode, hoping this one would finally kickstart the story, but I was disappointed every single time.

The pacing is painfully slow, and instead of feeling introspective, it often just feels empty. The subtle hints of romance that go nowhere made me feel silly for expecting anything to develop. Even the acting felt flat, leaving nothing memorable to hold onto by the end.

That said, the show did have a few moments that genuinely moved me. Whenever the female lead traveled on behalf of other people, discovering their stories and helping them find closure, those scenes carried an emotional weight that felt sincere and touching. Those little stories within the story were some of the few parts that actually captured the warmth and heartbreak a slice-of-life drama should have. Other redeeming qualities are the beautiful cinematography and stunning visuals, but without a meaningful story or standout performances, it all feels like a waste of potential.

Still, I’m rating it a bit higher because I’m clinging to the hope that they disappointed us with Season 1 only to make it up with a much better Season 2.

Redefining Success, One Trip at a Time

What does success really mean? 🤔 Is it owning a seaside villa, driving the most expensive car… or simply doing what makes you happy? This drama will definitely make you rethink your definition of success (though let’s be real, chasing your passion comes with its own risks too!).
Since I love traveling, I was instantly hooked. 🌍 The concept of a substitute traveling company felt fresh and new, the acting is solid, and the shooting locations are absolutely gorgeous. Plus, it gave me that little nudge that yes, women can go on solo trips — as long as the place is safe. 💪✨
If traveling is your thing and Korea is sitting on your bucket list, then give this drama a shot. Trust me, it won’t disappoint!

Visually Healing – A Gentle Escape into the Comforts of Simplicity

My Lovely Journey has been a truly healing watch for me. I connected deeply with the lead character, especially her background of growing up in a protective environment, never really needing to do things on her own. Watching her step out of that comfort zone and experience solo travel was incredibly relatable—it felt like watching someone live out something I’ve always wanted to do but never had the courage for.

The solo traveling, paired with the way each place is captured in its raw essence, is honestly beautiful. The cinematography is soothing—it's as if the camera lingers just enough to let you soak in the serenity of every scene. It’s light and easy to watch, with no heavy complications or emotional chaos, which makes it perfect when you're looking for something simple yet meaningful.

The cast is another strength of this drama. Every actor feels well-suited for their role, and nothing about their performances feels forced or cringey. Their portrayals are natural and thoughtful, and the story moves along slowly but surely—never abrupt, never confusing. That steady pace, paired with the quiet charm of the storytelling, makes it really enjoyable to follow.

While the plot may not be packed with excitement or major twists, the visuals, the subtle emotional beats, and the peaceful tone make it a treat for the eyes and heart. I’ve loved the lead actors in their past projects, and they continue to impress here as well.

I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an easy, uncomplicated, and visually appealing drama to relax with.

This show focuses on slice of life with little bit of drama surrounding all the characters

The fiest episode itself made me feel a lot of emotions, its a slice of life drama, dont expect thsi drama would have plot like a big twist or cute sweet romance , ofc the ml like the fl, but its not just that, fl has way long to go before starting a new relationship with the ml, and i think its propbably gonna happen in seaspn 1, this drama is something you should watch when you dont want any stress and just relax and have a cup of coffee for yourself and slowly enjoy the drama

A hidden gem for those who appreciate life stories

My Lovely Journey is a drama that invites us on a path of self-discovery and healing through the eyes of a former idol. Moving away from typical romance clichés, it embraces a more introspective and emotional narrative, offering a refreshing and calming experience.

The Story

The plot follows Kang Yeo-reum (Gong Seung-yeon), a former idol who, after facing hardships, finds a new purpose as a travel reporter. Her work takes her to different destinations, where she meets people who help her heal and rediscover what truly matters in life. Along the way, she connects with Lee Yeon-seok (Kim Jae-young), a pragmatic yet mysterious man, and Oh Sang-sik (Yoo Joon-sang), a warm and kind mentor figure, each bringing their own lessons.

What Works

Meaningful characters and relationships: The show shines in building empathy and genuine connections, going beyond romance. The cast chemistry feels authentic and moving.

Healing and relaxing atmosphere: With its slow pacing, beautiful locations, and gentle cinematography, the drama feels like taking a journey alongside the characters, perfect for unwinding after a long day.

Focus on personal growth: Yeo-reum’s journey highlights the value of honesty, simplicity, and rediscovering happiness beyond public pressure, making the story relatable.

What Could Be Better

Lack of strong drama: Viewers looking for fast-paced twists and emotional highs may find the narrative too slow. Its calm tone is both its greatest strength and a possible drawback.

Verdict

My Lovely Journey is a hidden gem for those who appreciate life stories, healing, and personal growth. It’s not about grand revelations, but about the quiet steps that bring us home. A thoughtful, soothing drama that celebrates travel, human connection, and the beauty of slowing down.

"A Healing Escape Through Love and Landscapes"

My Lovely Journey is a heartwarming, slow-paced healing romance that follows Kang Yeo-reum, a former idol turned travel show host, as she embarks on “proxy journeys” for people unable to travel themselves. Set against the backdrop of scenic Korean and international destinations, the drama beautifully weaves themes of self-discovery, emotional healing, and quiet connection. Gong Seung-yeon shines with a sincere performance, while Kim Jae-young’s reserved charm complements her in a soft, slowly blossoming romance. With cinematic visuals and a comforting tone, the show offers a gentle escape, perfect for viewers who enjoy reflective stories over dramatic twists.

Great realistic story LOL but not great acting or filming

The story is for real :)

but the acting and filming is so watered down thin.... some amateurs did this drama.
The "memories" keep repeating too much
the scenes just seem ... watered down
and the FL is not a fantastic actress

It is just ... "thin". Watch and you will know what I mean.

The Most Beautiful Travel Drama Series

I adored this drama. It was gentle but never boring. It followed the female lead's journey of self-discovery as she helped others go on trips they couldn't. The script was advanced. I constantly found myself rewinding scenes to absorb the wisdom, but it never felt stuffy. The picturesque locations and beautifully crafted characters enhanced the core theme of appreciating life's small joys and understanding success is relative.

It has a healing and self-discovery themes, heartwarming slice-of-life story, beautiful cinematography, and strong character development, although some found the pace slow and the romance secondary. Viewers enjoyed the focus on personal growth, appreciating small joys, and the gentle, comforting tone of the series, which features a former idol-turned-travel reporter.

It will have a second season, but I found its last episode satisfying - the right balance between curiosity and finality. There was always a hint of romance between the characters, but it took a backseat to them solving other people's stories. The plot didnt get overloaded with the individual stories. Every single episode was meaningful and will be missed. A bonus point for the cast individually recording the OSTs.

Personal Rating:
Story: 10
Acting & Cast: 9.5
Music: 9.5
Cinematography: 10

Overall: 100/100

Just take the Journey!!

This was a very intriguing series and enjoyed the idol aspect. Some might find the pacing too slow, but I thought it was just right. Although the content was not bad, the script was not completely perfect. It just had some weird aspects to it. However, it did a great job introducing the characters and giving the right amount of their backstories. The script also successful showed how each travel client’s story reflected what was going on in the main storyline. Here’s an unpopular opinion, I thought it had the right amount of romance. It gave you just enough without overpowering the series. The whole cast was incredible, including all of the guest roles.

Random Note:

I like that it didn’t have a predictable ending, but does end with a sort of cliffhanger. There seems to be a second season in the works which I'll love to see.

Not your typical rom-com but something even more special..!!

I honestly don’t understand why there are so many negative reviews about this drama. For me, it carries different stories of different people, and each of them touched me deeply. While watching, I even cried—not because it was tragic or had a sad ending, but because it made me reflect on life and the meaning of it. Every word and every moment felt real and sincere.

A lot of people said that Yeo Reum and Yeon Seok’s romance was lacking. From my perspective, it’s true this drama isn’t like a typical rom-com overflowing with romance. But the moments they did share, and especially Yeon Seok’s behavior towards Yeo Reum, were so heart-fluttering that I had to rewatch their scenes more than once. Their chemistry felt subtle, natural, and healing in its own way.

This drama, at its core, is about healing, and even their relationship scenes reflected that warmth and comfort.

I’m super excited for the upcoming Season 2. I really hope it will show more romance and comfort between them while keeping the same emotional depth.

In short: this drama is not boring at all. Give it a try—you may end up loving it more than you expect!
