How to be a people pleasear | lack of romance
So sad to watch another drama where the FL is an example how to be a boxing bag, how to be a victim, how to not trust yourself at all, to be a people pleasear... the toxic life of koreans.... to be abused but to continue the contact, working with abusers. I dont understand how can be an example for young girls that whatch this kdrama. How can you have, treat with kindness, even visit a frind that always wanted nothing for you. Bullying is a thing that koreans like so much... it become a normality to entrain.
I would have loved to see how she fights for her, how to gain self-confidence, to be in her own power, how to stand for yourself, how to speak for yourself.
The romance is absent completely.
There are some beautiful stories also and for this I give it a 5 but I don't recommend.

a healing journey indeed
first, if you are here for the actor kim jae yong, he does not get so much screen time which is understandable. The story revolves around our main character Yeo Reum, about her own self discovery journey. This drama is slow paced, healing, and more focused on sceneries and human emotions.what i loved and you might love:
-----------------------------------------------
1. Yeo Reum is rather a relatable character. she is trying to find herself, yet she seems to be more of a background character=not special(as many of us feel sometimes). Her goal is to find her own place in the world.
2. her growth does not involve only personal struggle, but also continuous learning from her clients that she substitutes. Those are people with nuanced stories and lives that we, along her, get a peak into. we learn about their past. regrets, and their life lessons
3. the sceneries are no joke, especially if you are like me and trees are your spiritual animal lol
4.no fully-fledged romance but we get crumps dont worry lol! i think the director felt that going for a full romantic story might overshadow the depth this drama wanted to convey. it could have also undermined the sense of self that kang yeoreum has been trying to establish throughout her journey.(maybe that is reserved for the s2)
what i disliked and you might too:
------------------------------------------------
1.as i ve mentioned it is understandable but maaaaan, i missed kim jae yong while watching this drama lol. i ve been anticipating when he would show up but let s say i was disappointed enough times before making peace with the dramas vision
2.the end was a little bit ummm...it closes with a cliffhanger. i mean it s a so so for me.
3. i wanted more from kang yeo reum more nuance let s say. i still felt like we are just scratching the surface with her.as i mentionned she grew vicariously through her clients, but i would like to see more going on in her own life.(maybe in season 2 )
4. i love this actress yet she sometimes fell short in depicting despair and sadness. she seems a little bit disconnected or flat for me.
overall, a good drama to heal your soul. It lets your mind wander about the meaning of life and success, while you enjoy breath taking landscapes and you get engaged in the human experience. A moment of mother nature's beauty comforting you.

It started off really well and I love it !!!
I'm really enjoying this drama!!!The acting, the story, and even the setting and scenery... everything about this drama makes me feel at ease... I've loved this actress since her performances in "Are you human too" and " First responders" always felt she was underrated, but I'm excited to see her again.
I'm looking forward to the next episodes.
AMAZING!!!

After watching judge from hell wanted to see ML act in new drama so bad and now as it is here really enjoying it also becoz the genre is slice of life which is personally my favorite. dk why the ratings are so low but please give it a shot it's really good!!! Also I like the story like her journeys how they are trying to make it inspiring really loving it so much!!! People are saying that the story is kinda imaginary lol bruhh if it's not happening with you doesn't mean it's not happening irl!! I have seen many cases as a doctor myself!!Was this review helpful to you?
Sadly Lacking
I wanted to like this drama SO MUCH! I was eagerly awaiting something like an exotic travel location, a sweet romance, or some kind of intrigue, but it fell flat on all three. Every episode felt like a slog, but I kept plugging away, only because the ML is handsome and I was anticipating at least one of the above. It just never happened. I didn't hate it, but I was disappointed, and would be hesitant to recommend it.Was this review helpful to you?

“A gentle journey of love, healing, and comfort.”
“My Lovely Journey” is a gentle, heartwarming drama that feels like a quiet escape. The story follows Kang Yeo-reum (Gong Seung-yeon), a former idol who now travels on behalf of others. Through these journeys, she discovers new places, meets kind people, and slowly learns to heal and love again. The cast makes the drama shine — Gong Seung-yeon is warm and relatable, Kim Jae-young is calm and charming, and Yoo Jun-sang brings wisdom and depth. The supporting characters add balance and comfort to the story.
What makes this drama special is its peaceful pace and beautiful scenery. It doesn’t rush with heavy twists — instead, it focuses on small, meaningful moments that touch the heart.
⭐ Final thought: If you’re looking for a sweet, healing drama that feels like a comforting journey, My Lovely Journey is the perfect watch.
My Lovely Journey invites you to slow down and savor life’s unspoken truths. With its heartfelt performances, quiet beauty, and thoughtful storytelling, it feels less like watching a show and more like stepping into a gentle dream. If you're in the mood for a romance wrapped in warmth, soul-searching journeys, and cinematic comfort, this is your perfect escape.

A not so lovely journey
When I started watching the show, I have to say it had potential to become one of my favorites. But I continued, the story became quite boring. I tried to keep up with the flashbacks, the sudden jumps from one scene to another point in the storyline but it kept getting more and more confusing until I somewhat lost interest. The female lead is not a favorable character (just watch how she keeps yelling at the poor dog), the side characters are more interesting, although the second lead couple if you want to call it that way wasn’t s ship for me… I didn’t feel any chemistry at all, but I became more invested in their love story than in the first couple’s.The only silver lining for me was Kim Jae Young, who is adorable in this drama and the only one who somehow made his character stand out, and not just because of his looks.
So, this is the first time I am not going to recommend a drama. There is just too much confusion. This is really just for fans of Kim Jae Young.

I don't understand the negativity
I'm astonished at the amount of negative reviews this series has received - I think it was excellent. The concept of romance in this series is on a deep, layered and nuanced level that speaks volumes to me as a mature adult who's a hopeless romantic. Romance is not just your love affairs to me - it's about our relationship with life and all the different types of love we give, receive, feel and witness.
I highly enjoyed all the journeys - literal and metaphorical - of this series. Every character gave my heart a stir of some kind, even the poor little, anxiously envious old friend and the complete tool of the PD of the Day trip program.
I felt it was more than just a cute little rom-com and am giving it a very generous rating since I feel it deserves it.
Loved the last scene unexpected cliffhanger and sincerely hope the second season will make it all the way on air <3

This show is worth the journey (with caveats). Badly misunderstood due to incorrect genre rating.
Reading the comments it is quite clear that many initially came to this show believing it to be a romance or action drama. The confusion was bad enough it inspired me to create an account to review this show!My Lovely Journey is exactly what the title states: it is about the journey of life for the main character Kang Yeo Reum acted very well by Gong Seung Yeon. In particular a 30ish something Yeo Reum's journey to discover her life goals at a point when it seems her career is in tatters.
The show is intended to be an allegory about the choices we all likely have to face when we reach a certain point in our adult life and the outcomes we envisioned vs where we are actually at in life.
The best characterization of this show is "Slice of Life". The pacing of the show is melancholic: deliberate and methodical. It is not an action show nor other than as a very secondary byline a romance between two people. However, it is a romance in terms of the variety of relationships one has as an adult and how each influence and move you. Your friends, you past loves, and your co-workers - they are each types of love & hate and affect you in your own life journey.
So in summary the show is: Yeo Reum has an introspective journey in her thoughts about her past and present, how it has shaped her and at the end of the season she finally understands the meaning of "her lovely journey" and for the first time firmly plants her feet on the ground for a determined path forward.
So how about the actual production? It has good points and bad points.
The women in this show drive it and are by far the best aspect of the show. Gong Seung Yeon is a lovely actress and she is extremely watchable and fully delivers given the material she has to work with. The other 2 recurring actresses are veterans of the kdrama industry: Hong Soo Hyun (who looks a decade younger than her real age of 44 and is just beautiful) and Yoo Ji Yeon (a support role). They ably support the show. In fact even the female guests in different episodes such as Tomosaka Rie ( a focal point of episodes 5-7) all deliver fine performances.
It is the men in the show that are the problem. Part of the show theme is the manager/actress relationship between Yeo Reum and O Sang Sik who is the owner of the agency that represents Yeo Reum. I have no idea why but he constantly over acts in his scenes and it gets very annoying very quickly. The director obviously wants the over the top characterization as part of building a characterization for Sang Sik of being "unpredictable". It is very unlikable.
Another problem is Kim Jae Yeong. His fan base came to this show believing it was intended to be a romance between he and the female lead. Honestly I have no idea why he is even in the production. His part is really a support role even though he is credited as a main role, and as a comment I read in social media elsewhere put it "he dials in his performance". It is not generally good especially in the first 6-7 episodes where he is rarely seen, and if your a fangirl who came to the show solely for him? Skip the show. His acting is bland and it is further hindered by the directing and editing.
The final main role is Oh Hyun Joong as "manager" and he really is truly meaningless to this kdrama. It appears he is supposed to provide light comedy on an occasional basis but even that is mostly not funny at all. In the first 10 episodes I doubt he has 45 minutes of screen time in total.
The direction and editing of the show is not very good. It is clearly a lower tier budget show. The most coherent and watchable parts were when Yeo Reum is on her various journeys and her interactions with guest stars and the other women in the show. But in many of the scenes for which the focus is O Sang Sik with someone and some of the group scenes the editing is really jarring with a lot of abrupt cuts. The show is really impaired by the directing and editing in "non-journey" segments.
Season 1 ends on a "cliffhanger". Season 1 and Season 2 were filmed back to back so answers in context of the realization of Yeo Reum's journey and the commencement of a a new step in the journey will come in Season 2.
BTW, at the end of most episodes there is an OST that is usually sung by one or more cast members. It is a nice touch and demonstrates that many of the actors also have voice talent.
The show does have nice appeal and I think in fact it is rewatchable. Just know what you are watching it for and you will gain from it.

Wrong genre, should have been - Life, Adventure and Family
Too start with, this review is gonna simple and kinda short. And my My personal opinion of genre [And reasons]:
Life. [The drama is all about character development, and her story, learning about life and others stories]
Adventure. [All travel in the drama is a new "adventure" for the female lead]
Family. [The hole "crew" is one big family, and when you start watching you will know why i say this XD]
The drama is clean comfort in a lot of areas, and very calm and chill.
The drama is kept to a clean slave for the most part.
Now the story is set out to be great, and i loved it at the start, but there is NO ROMANCE AT ALL!
It is all set for being romance, but there is none at all. Soo dont want this for romance, but for the female charachter growing with each epiode.
If you like me or other people, you will get frustrated, with the lack of romance as it is set as a genere, but here is NONE.
And the lack of the female character being able to speak her mind and not take hit after hit, and just keep being a boxing bag.
But i will say, if your looking for a drama to watch for the chill and comfort feel, each story in each episodes, are soo well crafted and soo sweet.
[i have dyslexia, so sorry my spelling mistakes, and english is my second language]

A Cliffhanger Ending Gone Wrong
Apparently, this series only had ten episodes but the writers wrote it as though there are twelve or more of them—a slow burn romance, a slow and steady main character development, a premise where that allows the show to have a repetitive plot structure that encompasses every two or so episodes. This affected how I view the drama as a whole because a lot of the main characters' development and relationships with each other have been left unexplored and the show feeling rushed and unfinished, dare I say hollow even.Hopefully, as the end of the 10th episodes implies, that there will be a second season soon and that the writers will pick up the pace and flesh out their characters by then.
