Lovely Runner

It took me forever to finish this show, I kept rewatching the episodes!

I felt like I was going to be really disappointed in this drama after people loved it so much. Boy, was I surprised!

Story:
It's definitely been done before, and probably in some ways, much better. Now this is just my opinion, because time shifts, etc. always confuse me, but this one was sometimes difficult to know which time I was looking at. And also, I felt some time inconsistencies, but maybe I was just confused. That being said, I felt that they made up for the lack in other ways. When someone loves someone for a long time, even through time shifts, what's not to love? Normally I have some difficulty with adult actors playing teenagers, but it worked here.

Cast:

Byeon Woo Seok as Seon Jae: It's like this part was tailor made for him. He is so good at showing and holding back emotions. The thing that stood out the most to me about him was his amazing comedic timing. He's good at physical comedy, and there were so many times that he made me laugh with just a gesture or a look.
Kim Hye Yoon as Im Sol: With her diminutive size and her high voice, this part fit her perfectly.
Song Geon Hee as Tae Sung: I love it when a 2ML wants what's best for the FL. You know, up front, that he doesn't stand a chance, but you still have to root for him, just a little, because he's such a sweet guy.
All of the supporting actors were very good as well.

Music:
SO good! Woo Seok's voice is just beautiful, and the music/lyrics fit perfectly into the story line.

Re-watch value:
100%, considering I watch each episode three times before moving on. And I didn't even start this until AFTER the whole thing was released!

CHEMISTRY:
The chemistry was definitely chemistry-ing, and there were so many squee-inducing moments for me. I'll admit, romance is my favorite genre, but it was lovely to be able to see the main couple together so much. Good kisses, and I love the height difference (lots of good behind the scenes stuff on You Tube about this). This may sound strange, but I liked how they used each others' first names. I know it's a cultural thing, but it always bothers me when a couple is in this great relationship and they either call each other by their last names, or she calls him by his title. It makes no sense.

So, I may have had issues with a couple of things, overall, I couldn't give this less than a 10, because I enjoyed it so much.

there is a plot that has not been explained in more detail

This is a beautiful story, a drama with a true romantic comedy genre. Even though the main characters of this drama have big problems because they are dealing with a taxi driver character, that doesn't mean the content of the story is always about anxiety about what will happen. So I really enjoyed watching the drama because the plot was neat and fresh.

in terms of OST, cinematography, acting, even other small things, I think it's perfect. It feels like it's been a long time since I've seen a drama with content like this.

I like all the actors' acting which is perfect and can bring this very fantasy story to life. Happiness and sadness and even shame really reach the audience of this drama.

Actually, the part about Sunjae who died in the first timeline is still not enough to explain a little. The discussion about the part of a watch being a time travel tool is also limited even though it has only been shown implicitly. but because all 15 episodes are full of plot twists, it feels lacking because there is no breakthrough about the mystery of this watch. (I wanted to give a score of 9 if there was a more detailed explanation about the time travel)

Overall this drama is very beautiful. every episode is unpredictable what it will be like. The scriptwriter seems to know what the audience will think, so it breaks the audience's imagination with a better plot.

This is a vivid fantasy story, as if time travel really exists. I really appreciate every beautiful content of the drama. acting that satisfies the audience and feels very real.

Lovely Runner has ended and I am so sad about that. A drama that has been boycotted in the beginning yet able to surpass all the hate it received. Able to be loved by many viewers like me. A drama, I was so hyped to watch and it delivered all until the very last episode. A drama that ignited my Kdrama slump as other kdramas fell flat. Lovely Runner, you have jumped to the S-tier list of my Kdramas. I know that many might say "how is this S-tier?". Well in my opinion, it is. A mixture of rom-com, fantasy, time travel. A lovely casts and it make sense why it took a while for production to hit. Thank you for those who rejected the previous offered role of Sunjae as I would not think any other actor than Byeon Woo Seok can play him. Sunjae was made to be played by him. And with our lovely female lead Kim Hye Yoon, she played Sol real well.

The plot progression of this drama is amazing. It perfectly captured the 16 episode timeslot that they deserved. Each Mon and Tues I look forward to watched, I have never been disappointed. Only kept wanting more and being hooked more onto the upcoming episode. It was indeed a lovely ride (yes, I'll keep using this word a lot... heheh.). I feel that no drama will fill the hole this will leave in my heart as any of the upcoming dramas/on going dramas right now are not my cup of tea.

I am happy how they never made the second lead a bad person. He truly deserved the best, Tae Song, I hope you were able to find your partner whom will love you. Our loserism, male lead, I think this characteristic of his, is the reason why so many people love him. To be honest, we are all sick of the rich boy, smart student tropes. His personality is a fresh of breath and that is why it is so well-received. I truly want a Sunjae in my life, someone who is a green flag, a forest of green, like him. I am happy how he was able to survive all of the demise upon him. It was just so fulfilling seeing him happy at the end. For our female lead, I love her so much. The development of her character and growth was chef's kiss. She really beat the odds against them. Sol, I am so proud of you. And I know many viewers have criticize you for being dramatic and overly a cry-baby. But I will always defend you given how much you have to witness and suffer.

Can we also talk about how great the chemistry of our leads? It was off the charts, through the roof. They gave all the fluffs, the pain, the angst, the tears, all the we needed to feel. We felt that.

I don't want to say goodbye yet since the past month has been amazing due to Lovely Runner.

I can't wait to rewatch you again. You are one of my comfort drama that I will keep on rewatching over and over again.

Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon are the greatest chemistry in the story

I fall in love the drama as soon as to watch eps 1 but continue to eps 4 more exciting the story which is so meaningful a lot. Two lead actors made beautiful emotional chemistry ever , Sooo cute and beautiful together .
Everything including lines in plots is thoughtful very much by the writer Lee Yo Eun and great directing, editing of scene. I heard the filming took 8 months more from July 2023 to April 2024 .Great team ！！！
I totally recommend the drama. I am looking forward to seeing next 12 episodes.
Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon are the best couple 2024. They has some deep expression in the acting and so beautiful together.

Great story with a few plotholes

After 2 years I have finally managed to watch this drama! It’s been hyped a lot and I understand it. The story is very captivating, their romance is bittersweet and swoony. The soundtrack is among the best I have seen in a K-Drama so far. And obviously, the cast is stellar! Especially Byeon Woo-Seok is out of this world!!!! His yearning gaze full of love, longing and sadness got me in my feels while watching this drama too.

The cinematography and color editing of this drama was so beautiful! Especially when it was set in the past! It reminded me a lot of 25 21, especially at the beginning of the drama.

There were quite a lot of funny, laugh-out-loud moments as well! Melon Musk absolutely KILLED me 😂😂😂 Can never get over this phrase 😂😂😂

Now to some things that bothered me and kept me from rating this drama a 10/10:

1. What was with the serial killer thing??? It made no sense whatsoever! Also his background was not explained at all. Why was he after Sol? Just a coincidence?? It all felt so random to me that I couldn’t quite get excited about the kidnapping scenes…

2. When Sungjae is being stabbed by the killer and falls off the cliff and dies, the drama spins to the future / current time and somehow it seemed like she said that “it has been years since Sun-Jae had died but I was still trying ti live a normal life” or sth like that. It seemed to me that Sunjae had died but in reality she went back in time one last time and changed the past in a way that they had never met so he wouldn’t die for her… I found that a bit confusing and I think they could have done a better job explaining it…

3. The second couple aka her brother and bestie was sooooo annoying and useless! Did we really need all those annoying scenes?? 😖😖😖 I cringef everytime I had to watch them. Or just any scene her brother was in! He was SO annoying!!!! I wished Hyeon-ju had gotten together with Bae In-hyeok instead 😅😅😅

In general I liked the drama but I think it could have been shorter without the serial killer plotline and the secondary couple scenes…

i' loved it.
All of the scene from the first episode until the end is Grandma's POV (point of view). Im Sol is the younger self of Grandma.
Have you ever wonder, why does grandma acting so strange?
1. She's been keeping Sunjae's watch
2. She has dementia (makakalimutin) but she didn't forget everything that happened from the past up to the future.
3. She remembered that Im Sol can't walk kahit pa naka time travel sila that time.
4. On episode 14, she called sunjae as "husband" so it's possible that sunjae is actually her husband when she's younger.
5. Episode 14, she knows that Sol misses Sunjae that's the reason why grandma went to the restaurant owned by Sunjae's father.
