Seems Deep in the end its just hollow

I have major problems with this show. It is wishy washy in the execution. Kidnapping is all cool. The female lead just changes sides like it's no major issue man, you gotta feel for the second male lead. What was even the male lead planning to do...he just roams around for the 10 ep and just dies. The second male lead runs away from home and can't stop thinking about the female lead but then the second when the FL and he meets they are all good. Bro was just used and thrown as required. Overall not happy with how they dealt with many of topics in the show, they just scrape the surface and move one. I don't seem to understand why the show is rated 8.7. Genuine disappointment.

5 for editing skills, tho great cinematography, some “teleportation” and jump scenes were confusing


They should’ve focused more on the concept of unlikely familyness, eps 6 and 7 were just useless, and some big plot moves had me



So the dad didn’t abandon him when he was 8, WDH left when he was 18ish

Sure the dad went blank and empty on him but he wasn’t bad and the mom overreacted, agh like seriously it’s not like anyone thought she cheated, or he was gonna leave them or she was hurt and shamed
And she wasn’t gonna leave town, she was gonna kill the kid along…


On another hand, with everything the little girl should’ve had more scenes, also fls life felt sadder and it didn’t make sense why he acted like they’re the same
Her mom abandoned her when she gave birth, then years later went and made another family

2ml did have the trauma of mamas boy but it was pathetic

The mom being suddenly nice and “accepting” anyone ppl as kid replacement but she wasn’t gonna accept her daughter in law
And fl going from marring another dude to randomly not leaving ml and ml hurting her cuz he didn’t want to get hurt

lol I forgot to change the rating, I won’t keep it a 10, it had great promise and potential also saying the dad took him back like he was waiting, and the questionable 2fl and her “mom or lover” yet another weird 12 age gap honestly she was better of with 2ml

The name puns were only fun the first time it was mentioned and I hated the ending like just give us unbelievable happy resolutions honestly his not dad dad was rich enough so was his not lover mom and even 2ml’s mom who was nice when she wanted

I guess life is how you react to it.

Mr. Plankton was a great watch that started out with very questionable beginnings. Even the characters called out the things that made no sense. I began to understand more, and it became more clear. They were flawed people. 
The acting was pretty good, even though I could do without some of the wailing like a 4-year-old. (flawed) 
However, the execution was decent. I enjoyed the way the series opened the worlds of these characters. I felt bad for Eo Hueng as well as Hae Jo.  Despite some issues I just had to ignore, Mr. Plankton was a bittersweet and engaging ride.

its got a sad ending

So it had a very good story line I enjoyed it sooo much I literally finished it in 2 days. I’m very happy that the episodes released quickly because for other dramas they release every week and that really bores me. The casting was perfect there wouldn’t have been anyone else I would’ve wanted to see play hae-jo or Jae-mi. Woo do hwan’s emotions were perfect when he cried it made me want to cry aswell. Also with Lee yoo-mi her emotions were perfect aswell. As we could see her sadness and anger at the same time. I love how we could see a portrayal of real life issues for example some people have parental issues and it was perfectly written in the show. In addition gi-ho and ju-ri were very perfect too. For example I love how gi-ho stayed loyal all that time even though he was having near death experiences. The ending was very sad and emotional however I think it was written so well. Because we always expect the main characters to never die and cos hae-jo did die it was not expected at all,as we saw before he died it was going so well.

but yeah I really did enjoy this show, I hope more are made like this. big appreciation to the writers,producers,actors and all the other people who helped in the making of it.

Another thing I have to say is I was in love with how the OST matched the show perfectly. whoever picked it did so well

This is a dark light comedy romance drama

Mr Plankton is a very artsy drama, which is well cast and well written. The cinematography is through the roof, with brilliant subject framing, great camera angles, and great lighting. The OST is American Melancholy.

The objective to be answered with this story line is so evident in this quote from Mr Plankton.

“Why do tragedies keep happening to those who are already suffering?” Male Lead

This is the story of two tragic lives who come together, circling in the same universe. It is great film making. With all this brilliance, one problem for me is the loads of cursing in the beginning.

Mr Plankton turns into a light comedy later on. This is not evident while viewing episode one. I don’t mind tragedies. This drama is a darker comedy, however. Mr Plankton has so many of the elements I love in a good drama. It checks a lot of boxes. There is some powerful acting in this drama. I could nominate both leads, Lee Yoo-mi and Woo Do-hwan, for a Baeksang Arts Award. I think that Woo Do-hwan may get a nomination for his performance, though.

Mr. Plankton is written by Jo-young who penned ‘Its Okay Not To Be Okay’. Even before finding this out, for me the drama had ‘Its Okay Not To Be Okay’ written all over it.

Best short kdrama this year

Faith in good kdramas restored with this one. Ive recently been leaning towards more cdramas since lately it has been hitting and a lot of kdramas have either been ridiculous or a once a year release that ends up being memorable like this one. Last year was Twinkling Watermelon for me and this year was Mr. Plankton.

It's just good to have a tragic story that doesnt really impose itself as one, no forceful emotional scenes, no dragging and is just well written. Characters are not forgotten in the story, and made to connect with each other to correct and conclude their stories. There's also this majestic ahh OST that plays in some scenes and I think this made this drama more heartfelt and real. Story is coherent, not dragged and the destination was as expected but it didnt bore me one bit. Outstanding storytelling.

It took 11 months for kdrama gods to give birth to something good but yes, best kdrama this year btw

Long time no see Netflix

I"I think I haven't watched any Netflix Originals for almost a year because their shows aren't interesting and often contain too much violence. I don't like it. It seems like they believe that if they add a lot of blood and violence, people will watch it. (Did you see the Squid Game Season 2 trailer?)
But this drama's story is unique and also somewhat similar. It’s about a man trying to find his father, and because of his fear, he ends up taking the girl who is his ex-girlfriend.

Firstly, at the beginning, I thought their relationship was sweet, but the female lead (FL) has a lot of problems. Yes, they are in love, but this love is very toxic. She is always yelling, like a child. She doesn't think about Eo Heung's emotions; she just wants to find a safe place. She has never grown up. In their relationship, Hae Jo always has to take care of everything.

And why does everyone keep punching Hae Jo's head? Dude, he is ill. Why do you keep punching him? Jae Mi and Ju Ri always use violence. Every time I think, 'Okay, now he's dead. Stop punching!!!

In the story, my favorite character is Yoo Gi Ho. I thought he would be a very bad character, but no! I'm shocked. Even though he is dying, he tries to save Hae Jo. He also found Hae Jo's sister.

Actually, I thought Hae Jo and Heung would be brothers because Heung's father has children and could also have a connection to the clinic. The glass guy is also one of them, I think. They didn’t focus on his story very well.

And finally, I want to talk about the ending. I'm not the type of viewer who loves bad endings or 'create-your-own' endings. It should be a happy ending. If it isn't a happy ending, why should I watch dramas? I watch the news or documentaries. Sorry, I know it's real life, but I want to escape real life. We already see enough bad things in the real world. We deserve a happy ending in dramas, at least.

I have nothing else of value to say so here are some extra words to reach the minimum 500 characters; Cornstarch. Amphetamines. Supernova. Limousine. Rottweiler. Defenestration. Christmas. Cerebellum. Tonsillectomy. Is this enough? I seriously underestimated how many 500 is.

It's not??? My god, someone put me out of my misery. I don't wanna go into more details about how I felt about it, the last episode drained me of all emotions for at least the next week, and a critic I am not. I am a simple woman, don't make me go bonkers.

hooked from the start...crying by the end

What a beautiful show. The acting was incredible. I had seen Yumi in the Strong girl show and had not been impressed, this performance however, was magnificent. Do hwang had so many depths to his character, I just couldn't stop watching. At many time throughout the show I thought..."are they really showing this?" "are they swearing again?" the script was so realistic and natural, it did not feel 'cleaned up' for Korean audiences.

The majority of this drama was pretty light, having deep elements added little by little. I must say at some point I started to dread the ending. You know what is coming, but I still needed to see it for myself.

A beautiful story and beautiful performances. Melancholic, funny and simply beautiful.
I totally recommend it.
