Best ep 1 i've seen in a while! I can't wait for the rest!

I'm someone who can easily get distracted or drop a BL from slight boredom- but this episode one was so perfectly balanced, paced, with a bunch of great characters that I couldn't look away! I love the elements of spirituality, The scenes and temples are always so beautiful and interesting to watch, so a plot basically surrounding that is so pretty. Besides that, the plot is unique and well done! I want to specifically highlight the nice friendship between Khem and Jet. I think they have a great friendship with awesome platonic chemistry! They flow off each other well and have a cool connection with seeing spirits that makes sense! Jet being a bit protective and silly is so cute too, and Khem just trying to be reasonable, genuine and see the best in things is so sweet... The visuals of the spirits are also not weird and gimmicky, but the make-up and effects are solid! The horror elements are also well done, the scene in the art room kinda got me to be honest! In terms of the main characters.... I love... The gradual lead up to the Shaman's face reveal was perfect- Keng (the actor) is also just breathtakingly handsome LOL...INSANE face card. They have a hinted connection with each other that I can't wait to be explored! I'm really exited for the rest of this show to come out!

ALSO side-tangent......... I love how menacing and handsome Keng is from the side angle, like when he's first revealed, his eyes are so dark and he seems intimidating... then you see his front profile with his HUGE BOBA EYES.... HE LOOKS SO SWEET I LOVE IT SO MUCH PLS.

Five Stars

Truly an amazing first episode. I have been waiting for this show for a while and I’m so happy the first episode didn’t disappoint. I’m so excited for the rest of the show. I hope everything is as amazing as the first episode.

So far: B-movie horror with no BL

Since this is coming from a company producing BLs, is marketed as a LGBTQ+ romance/BL (as well as a horror/mystery) series and I'm watching it for those reasons (and not for it being a horror/mystery production) - I'm not a fan of ep. 1. Sure, it establishes the characters to some degree and introduces the horror/mystery storyline, but doesn't do anything in the BL departament; more than that: it implies that the main focus of the show will be its horror/mystery aspect - which disappointed me. As for the horror and mystery - it's nothing new nor groundbreaking, relying on well-known tropes from formats like "Final Destination" or the recently airing "Leap Day", released by GMMTV (btw: what looks like the same building was used in both productions).

promising first episode

i love horror, so this was my cup of tea. i honestly think making it scarier would definitely enhance the story. i don't really see the chemistry between the two yet, but this just might be because i have no background on the two. i didn't know tle x firstone was in this, but i'm happy to see them (although tle's character is kinda sketchy). ngl, the acting is kinda awkward in some parts but hopefully things get better. my favorite scene is definitely the ending scene where the female ghost appears.

Too much paranormal activity

First episode too much paranormal activity like 90% of the whole episode which makes it less interesting/special because it's not something rare it's continually... The shock is gone because it's an overkill on ghosts and "scary" moments. I did love Firstones acting !! So natural! Can't wait to see his story unfold

I'm Rating this 10/10

“Khemjira” completely captivated me — the storytelling, character depth, and emotional impact were flawless. Every scene felt purposeful, the pacing kept me hooked, and the cultural richness made it unforgettable. The chemistry between characters was natural yet powerful, and the themes resonated deeply. No criticism could ever change how much I treasure this series; it’s an experience I’ll carry with me for a long time.

Uniquely Thai and Grounded in the Culture

It’s a great start, kicking off with Khem’s protective amulet losing its potency in a dark alley, forcing him to recite a spell he hasn’t heard since he was a child, and first gained the protection of the amulet. From there it’s all on, with the ghostly plane Khem’s seen all along suddenly presenting a threat when this protection ends. The acting is naturalistic, so far, which helps immersion immensely. There’s a lot of lore and background in the novel that is implied in the first episode, but isn’t explicit. The ghost that’s always at Khem’s back, for example. It’s been done well, with his demeanour changing with context in a smart way. They’re really looking after fans of the source material. The core cast is nice. They seem to have nailed everything. I’m optimistic, so long as they only change things to serve the story and characters, rather than out of caprice. So far they’ve done that. I recommend people watch the episode 0 BTS. It gives an idea of how invested in doing this right the cast and crew have been. A few of them even misted up talking about how important the project was to them.

BL with brilliant horror plot / Ghost

It’s been a while to see the BL series to reach this level of standard. Perfect piece of cake for people who are interested in supernatural and horror. In short: IT IS WORTH WATCHING!! Just from watching this episode, I can guess the production team has used reasonable amount of budget. Watch and wait together with me bro and sis. It’s better to wait with companions than waiting alone.

Enjoyable

The first episode was enjoyable and had its fair share of spooky or at least it will for those who get scared easily. The one thing that kind of bothered me at the beginning was that he knew the incantation to get rid of the spirit, but decided to run away instead. But also, I guess if you are living for almost 21 years seeing the dead, the most popular choices shows/movies usually go with are that you can either become badass and be mostly unaffected by it or be perpetually scared of it. So, his reaction while also a valid one, I just would have preferred he didn't run away. But that's just a personal preference.

⸻ Khemjira — Where Love Meets the Dead

Wow — what a strong start to the series! Episode 1 was over an hour long, but it flew by without a single boring second. Every scene kept me completely engaged.Khemjira — my first BL that mixes ghost/horror with romance — yes, please! And I’m so glad it’s not another high school or university trope. The music was great, the ghost effects were realistic, the acting was spot on, and the cinematography had such a fresh, polished feel — not cringey at all. The flashbacks were beautifully done, and the explanation of why the family is cursed — and why the mother gave the male lead a girl’s name, Khemjira — tied perfectly into the title. My prediction? Changing his name to a girl’s name won’t break the curse. But if Khemjira, as a boy, falls in love with another boy, that might be what finally breaks it. Just my guess since I haven’t read the novel — but no way the main lead is dying before he turns 21. Also, Khem and Peem’s first meeting felt so natural — glad we’re not dealing with yet another “accidental first kiss” trope. One of the most emotional moments was when Khem rescued that little boy. His father was an abusive alcoholic and drug addict — starving him, hitting him, even chaining him up. Khem saw the boy’s ghost mother and helped her save her son. That scene had so few words, but it was executed so powerfully. Now, the ghost mother can rest in peace. My guess is her death was caused by the abusive husband, which explains why she lingered around her son.It seems like the rest of the 11 episodes will each focus on different ghosts or spirits and uncover the stories behind their deaths — and I’m so excited for it.Warning: Do NOT watch this alone at 2 a.m. I did because that’s when it aired in my time zone — big mistake. Next time, I’m watching in broad daylight… with the volume cranked up for the full experience.Yet another excellent Thai 🇹🇭 BL. Can’t wait for the next 11 weeks!

A very strong start

Honestly a very strong start with character development and world building. I'm impressed. Hoping the good writing will continue into the third act (I fear this production house often looses me in the past in the third act with plot holes). Acting was good. OST good. Hope the solid momentum continues

Spooky and seated

The first episode is an introductory of a new flavor to the BL community. A mix to the genre of horror is surprisingly satisfying and it got me seated right from the start. Superb pilot!

Terrific Episode (pun intended)

This is not for the faint of heart (which I am) so to all people like me I'd recommend watching this during the day. That being said - I enjoyed tremendously! Keng and Namping are fantastic actors and I was actually surprised to see "Udon" Chayanon Akaradumrongdej (he played little San in Century of Love). Will enjoy watching this series for sure, because both plot and cast look very, very promising

What an impressive opening!!

Love the way they start the episode same as a horror movie. I can see their effort in producing and editing every scenes. They tried their best to convey the Khemjira's misfortune and I can feel it. The author did a great job with the original novel, so before watching, I was skeptical about the film crew's scriptwriting ability. However, some of the changes to make it more suitable as well as the way they accelerated the pace compared to the original novel made me very satisfied (hopefully this form will be maintained throughout the series). Not to forget to mention all the actors's acting and visual , especially p'Keng handsomeness and aura, Namping's cuteness and beauty. Looking forward to the next episode!!
