Heartwarming and a masterpiece
I didn’t expect for this drama to deliver. I started watching it because the premise seems fun, a student whose obsessed with studying with limited progress at all. But upon watching it, I was caught by surprise with its brilliance. It’s a balance of action, comedy, friendship, redemption and heartfelt moments. The story seems simple but the way it was told is a masterpiece and with much depth. Kudos to all the cast. They have amazing chemistry. I am actually hoping for a season 2. Perhaps if they are in college. I look forward to the future dramas of the cast. Hope they’ll get lead parts. Love them! Was this review helpful to you?

Peter Parker meets Superman meets Bruce Lee in this ridiculously fun action school drama
That’s exactly what Yoo Ga-min was a school kid who was passionate about learning but also about protecting the weak and doing the right thing. The way he miraculously appeared when his friends were in trouble along with his super human strength ie kicking through steel doors, jumping off of buildings, running at super human speed and crashing through walls without getting so much as a scratch, he was indeed a super hero. All he needed was a cape. The idea that his ultimate goal was to form a study group, so that he could improve his grades and go to college was original and served as a great way to bring the misfits that were the study group together. The group was a nice mix of brains, brawn , and kids from varying backgrounds. Though none of their lives were particularly similar they all formed a strong bond of friendship and loyalty.
This show was entertaining and had many hilarious moments but did have a very dark undertone, which was the ever present theme which pops up in k-dramas, severe bullying. It was infuriating to watch kids get bullied at school, bullied walking home from school, bullied when walking to the local store or just hanging out with friends, and no adult stepping up to help. The school was strait up pandemonium, but save for one teacher, administrators weren’t doing anything create order. It was ridiculous (and unrealistic) that there were no parental complaints about the chaos at the school ( or their kids coming home with black eyes, bloody noses and other bruises) while crimes were going on daily on school grounds without any recourse from the administrators or local law enforcement.
Pi Ha Wool’s reign of terror at the school made sense in that he wanted to control his “kingdom”. What didn’t make sense is that control entailing terrorizing kids who wanted to study, learn and make something of themselves. Another plot hole, it was implied that Geon Yoop’s mom was murdered by Pi Ha Wool and/or his gang of thugs but that story thread was dropped and seemingly given to Ms. Lee. Not a plot hole but though Ga min’s focus was learning not fighting, I wanted him to teach his friends a few moves that would help them defend themselves when he wasn’t around. It difficult to watch them repeatedly get slapped, kicked and beat down (rarely fighting back) until Ga-min miraculously came to the rescue.
Despite some flaws, this was a great show. Good cast with great chemistry. Min-Hyun was perfect as Ga-min. This was by far his best role to date. Would I recommend this show? Absolutely! Would I rewatch it? Absolutely!

Beat Drama
The drama was awesome, one of the best I've ever seen.Perfect cast, perfect music, perfect acting and perfect action. Perfect in every aspect. Must watch.
Storyline: The best, the way the story and dialogues is written, it's a masterpiece.
Acting/Cast: They chose the perfect cast for the drama, no doubts. From protagonist, to antagonist to side characters, everything was great and the actors portrayed each and every scene so well. They worked so hard for the action scenes.
Music: I could never skip the intro, zerobaseone never disappoints, one of my favorite ost of all time. The outro music was really great too.
Overall, it's a great drama, needs even more hype and recognition. Expecting a season 2 soon because 10 episode weren't enough. The only bad part of the drama was that it ended.
Kudos to all the cast and crew working on and off screen ❤

very hip show
feels like watching an anime or reading a manga really,, very concise, and the camera framing is interestingthe plot s very hip and funny with an undertone of tragic that they could v expanded on to make the show longer.. but they chose to keep it light and i respect that.
despite all the cool side characters, the show is more focused on the main guy. i can totally envisage more seasons comin out, like chronicles of his life
the OST is baaanging, the acting is very playful with anime like reactions

For younger audience
Everyone was raving about it so I decided to give it a try but this was not it! It felt too comical after coming from Weak Hero class this was just not it ! It started out fun but then it became more and more ridiculous. You can understand if children like it but honestly more than can't saying anything about it. You can watch it if you want to pass time. For an action drama the action itself was quite disappointing and weirdly directed, story wasn't too bad but making us like the good guys was too forced and cringey. Not bad but not good too!Was this review helpful to you?
Thrilling, comedy, action
Talking about delivering, acting, action, music, story, foes, friends everything is perfect in this series. You want action, comedy, Friendship, thrilling, foes to friends, Gangs, strongest male lead. You will have everything in this series. This is one series after a long time that was very well directed. It is just so fun to watch. Was this review helpful to you?

this was ok! first few eps had me hooked and i love the music. but like it got repetitive and justice wasn’t rly served… like all he got was expelled??? for murder???? like😵💫 plus i wish the budding romances were more in place. had to skip the fighting scenes cuz it got to gory. plus the twin brother was barely in it?? ugh idkWas this review helpful to you?
The 'Back Packer' and 'Hood' OSTs have become my most favourites ones, its very impressive that this drama's OSTs are rap-based which perfectly suits ML's badass and awesome personality. These OSTs are spectacularly supporting the fight scenes, enhancing their impact many folds. The opening OST's art work magnificently conveys the idea that this work is a live action of a webtoon series.
I'm very eagerly waiting for S2, I must find out what transpires next and how this best school squad overcomes many new challenges in their way to success. I highly recommend this drama for action, thriller and comedy lovers, it's 100% worth the watch!😍😍😍😍😍👌👌

Banger OST with tight script & an exceptional direction this drama is one you don't want to miss!
his drama follows a storyline that has been explored countless times in dramaland—an underdog taking on school bullies with a reluctant crew who eventually grows close. I’ve devoured all the previous dramas in this genre because I adore it, but this time, I expected the usual formula. However, this drama completely shattered my expectations and set a new high standard for future dramas of this genre.Hats off to the director for such incredible direction! If someone else had been in charge, this drama could have easily ended up as just another one of those typical stories. What sets it apart from its contemporaries is its exceptional and visually striking direction, along with a gripping screenplay that immediately captures your attention the moment you hit play.
Now, onto the cast—what a stellar performance from everyone! Each actor was thoroughly convincing as the menacing teenagers they portrayed. My only complaint is that Hong Min Ki, who played Park Geon Yeop, had too little screen time. I was really hoping he would join the study group, but given his past, it makes sense that he had bigger battles to fight.
That final scene, where Park Geon Yeop gets into YB as an intern, was the perfect way to pave the path for a second season. I would love to see Season 2 with Park Geon Yeop—aka Hong Min Ki—as the main lead, watching him seek revenge and justice for everything that happened.
Also, this is one of the few dramas where I never skipped the intro music because it was such a banger! The soundtrack choices were absolutely top-tier.
Without a doubt, one of the best dramas of 2025 so far.
Rating: 9.5/10

First Drama to something MUCH!!! bigger
I’ll start by saying this was good—just GOOD! The story was well-paced, and the execution was nicely done. The music, especially *Backpacker*, fit the scenes perfectly.Hwang Min Hyun did a great job as the lead, showing noticeable improvement from *Lovely Liar*. His chemistry with the rest of the cast really helped enhance the storytelling and raised the stakes throughout the drama.
The only downside? It was too short. Ten episodes weren’t enough. That’s probably why the final fight between Ga-Min and Han-Wool felt a bit rushed and slightly disappointing. With all the buildup throughout the season, I expected a more intense showdown, but it didn’t get as much screen time as I had hoped. I think one more episode would have made the final battle more impactful.
That said, I really liked the ending. After Han-Wool gets arrested, he essentially "hands over" his title as the school’s prince to Ga-Min, challenging him to prove that change is possible. The post-credit scene was a great setup for a potential redemption arc—if done well.
And let’s be real: with the success of this drama and that ending, it’s VERY obvious we’re getting a Season 2. The only catch? We’ll have to wait two years for Hwang Min Hyun to complete his military service.
While we wait for our favorite fighter to return, let’s talk about something big that might be happening. If you’re watching *Friendly Rivalry*—the drama starring Hyeri with what feels like a borderline GL storyline—you might not know that *Study Group* and *Friendly Rivalry* exist in the same universe. Both dramas are part of what’s called *The Blue String Universe*.
With *Study Group* and *Friendly Rivalry* both getting drama adaptations—and airing around the same time—something is definitely brewing. Could this be the foundation for a multi-drama universe? If so, this could be a game-changer for K-dramas.
For those who love forbidden romances like *Friendly Rivalry* or action-packed fight scenes like *Study Group*, this universe is shaping up to be something special. Keep an eye on it—because I think we’re just getting started.
