A show hasn't hit the spot like this one in a long time!!! Watch it now

This show was very very very close to perfection for me. I don't even know where to begin in my review... This show went straight into my favorites, which is hard to get in to!
The cast...? perfect
The story...? It worked so well
The OST...? so so fitting
The acting...? every person nailed it, including the villain. The lead actor for me was PERFECT, I know I liked him but wow, he really nailed this role.
the friendship ....? couldn't be more in sync
The action sequences...? oh so lovely
the comedy...? always landed
The length ...? I wanted to MORE, and it seem the door is open for a second season!!!

Ya kudos to everyone to who brought this be.... they absolutely cooked on this!

this was ok! first few eps had me hooked and i love the music. but like it got repetitive and justice wasn’t rly served… like all he got was expelled??? for murder???? like😵‍💫 plus i wish the budding romances were more in place. had to skip the fighting scenes cuz it got to gory. plus the twin brother was barely in it?? ugh idk

This drama also shows that although violence is bad but at times its vitally needed when innocent people have to fight to protect people and things precious to them. Martial arts and fighting ability is a tool of self-defence and to protect. The study group members in order to realise their dreams, had to go as far as to face not only school bullies but corrupt teachers, headteacher, deciplinary committee, unsupportive parents, killer street gangs, corrupt police, paparazzi and hidden political agendas. In addition, they had to fight their own inner demons, personal handicaps and socio-economic difficulties to latch onto the hope and motivation to be able to pull through and never give up on themselves and others. The moment you give up on yourself and others is the time you have truly lost. PHU believed firmly that struggling against corrupt embedded system was futile thats why he never tried to change himself but forced others to feel hopeless and fearful like himself under the tyranny of his dad. YGM chellenged his beliefs that he and his friends, family, teachers and good people will show him that people/situations can be changed.

The 'Back Packer' and 'Hood' OSTs have become my most favourites ones, its very impressive that this drama's OSTs are rap-based which perfectly suits ML's badass and awesome personality. These OSTs are spectacularly supporting the fight scenes, enhancing their impact many folds. The opening OST's art work magnificently conveys the idea that this work is a live action of a webtoon series.

I'm very eagerly waiting for S2, I must find out what transpires next and how this best school squad overcomes many new challenges in their way to success. I highly recommend this drama for action, thriller and comedy lovers, it's 100% worth the watch!😍😍😍😍😍👌👌

Banger OST with tight script & an exceptional direction this drama is one you don't want to miss!

his drama follows a storyline that has been explored countless times in dramaland—an underdog taking on school bullies with a reluctant crew who eventually grows close. I’ve devoured all the previous dramas in this genre because I adore it, but this time, I expected the usual formula. However, this drama completely shattered my expectations and set a new high standard for future dramas of this genre.

Hats off to the director for such incredible direction! If someone else had been in charge, this drama could have easily ended up as just another one of those typical stories. What sets it apart from its contemporaries is its exceptional and visually striking direction, along with a gripping screenplay that immediately captures your attention the moment you hit play.

Now, onto the cast—what a stellar performance from everyone! Each actor was thoroughly convincing as the menacing teenagers they portrayed. My only complaint is that Hong Min Ki, who played Park Geon Yeop, had too little screen time. I was really hoping he would join the study group, but given his past, it makes sense that he had bigger battles to fight.

That final scene, where Park Geon Yeop gets into YB as an intern, was the perfect way to pave the path for a second season. I would love to see Season 2 with Park Geon Yeop—aka Hong Min Ki—as the main lead, watching him seek revenge and justice for everything that happened.

Also, this is one of the few dramas where I never skipped the intro music because it was such a banger! The soundtrack choices were absolutely top-tier.

Without a doubt, one of the best dramas of 2025 so far.

Rating: 9.5/10

First Drama to something MUCH!!! bigger

I’ll start by saying this was good—just GOOD! The story was well-paced, and the execution was nicely done. The music, especially *Backpacker*, fit the scenes perfectly.

Hwang Min Hyun did a great job as the lead, showing noticeable improvement from *Lovely Liar*. His chemistry with the rest of the cast really helped enhance the storytelling and raised the stakes throughout the drama.

The only downside? It was too short. Ten episodes weren’t enough. That’s probably why the final fight between Ga-Min and Han-Wool felt a bit rushed and slightly disappointing. With all the buildup throughout the season, I expected a more intense showdown, but it didn’t get as much screen time as I had hoped. I think one more episode would have made the final battle more impactful.

That said, I really liked the ending. After Han-Wool gets arrested, he essentially "hands over" his title as the school’s prince to Ga-Min, challenging him to prove that change is possible. The post-credit scene was a great setup for a potential redemption arc—if done well.

And let’s be real: with the success of this drama and that ending, it’s VERY obvious we’re getting a Season 2. The only catch? We’ll have to wait two years for Hwang Min Hyun to complete his military service.

While we wait for our favorite fighter to return, let’s talk about something big that might be happening. If you’re watching *Friendly Rivalry*—the drama starring Hyeri with what feels like a borderline GL storyline—you might not know that *Study Group* and *Friendly Rivalry* exist in the same universe. Both dramas are part of what’s called *The Blue String Universe*.

With *Study Group* and *Friendly Rivalry* both getting drama adaptations—and airing around the same time—something is definitely brewing. Could this be the foundation for a multi-drama universe? If so, this could be a game-changer for K-dramas.

For those who love forbidden romances like *Friendly Rivalry* or action-packed fight scenes like *Study Group*, this universe is shaping up to be something special. Keep an eye on it—because I think we’re just getting started.

Combining comedy, action, mystery, thriller and social issues in the best possible way

When starting the drama I thought it might be about high schoolers being notorious and how the main lead will handle them but I never thought it will have so much depth in the plot.
The characters were well thought and everyone's arc was showcased amazingly. The plot is well thought and kept me going for more. Not even a single dull moment. If it's not action it's comedy, if it's not comedy it's thrill, if it's not thrill its emotion. They really kept the pace beautifully. The idea of studying used as a metaphor to do right thing, bring justice and get rid of corruption. The idea of study group is righteous people coming together to beat the sh1t out of corrupted people.
The actors did a spectacular job. Minhyun was the best fit for Gamin. AND oh my Cha Woomin is a brilliant actor. The entire cast did an amazing job. The actor playing Sun Cheol was really a show stopper. The cinematography and direction was perfect fit for the mood the drama was carrying. The way through silliness they brought up really big subjects. Since the mood was little silly and comedic the exaggerated fighting scenes never felt like that. Overall it was a good show that left a lot of impact on me.

Over-the-top ridiculous yet memorable

Okay, what did I just watch! Everything about “Study group” was so ridiculous. Yet I enjoyed it very much! The fighting scenes and action sequences were all so ridiculous and over-the-top, that somehow it ended up being enjoyable. The background music, the characters who were fighting to study and form the study groups, and fights they end up getting into….
The whole thing was so memorable and enjoyable, that I binge-watched the whole thing back-to-back.

Can’t wait for Season 2.

Adrenaline-packed, high-octane and incredibly exciting!

I'm going to give my two cents on this show and it's my honest opinion - it's amazing and anyone thinking about watching it, should. We rarely get good Korean comedies, much less action-comedies, and this was the best of the season.

This show felt like an homage to all those awesome Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and wacky Stephen Chow movies, and it's sad that a few people can't see that down in the comments. The fights are how they are because of this - full of adrenaline, high-octane and exciting. Hell, I think it's mentioned somewhere that Yun Ga Min practices Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do style of martial arts. If you've watched Stephen Chow's movies, like Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer, you'd understand how flying about while crushing your opponents toes in place, or punching their chest into the concrete floor at an unnatural pace is the foundation for some of the best choreographed fights. It takes a lot to adapt these for screen - it's not tacky, it's a stylistic choice and Hwang Min Hyun manifested it all fantastically.

Talking about Yun Ga Min. People seem to think he's plain dumb, but I think that's a very shallow understanding of who he is. It took him brains to fight too, guys. That scene where he flipped the leader of the school disciplinary gang was actually well thought-out. He's just bad at tests, and it's clear he has some anxiety related to that. I know people just like this - they're brilliant, but get incredibly anxious during tests, causing them to score low. More than anything, he wasn't one dimensional - sure, he was often the smiling idiot who was blissfully unaware of things, but when things got serious, he was confident enough to buckle down and take charge. Honestly, I liked everything in this show, acting included . I enjoyed it for what it is, and it got me kicking my feet like my twelve year old self when watching Shaolin Soccer.

Lastly, don't expect the show to be Weak Hero Class 1. Study Group is in a different genre. This is an action comedy, and Weak Hero is an action drama. Bullying is a common element, but it's dealt with differently in both. Study Group is somewhat idealistic, and that's fine. We need a break from the nitty-gritty sometimes, and the show gives us the satisfaction by answering the question: "what if the good guys won period?"

Put aside all your seriousness, grab some popcorn and enjoy the adrenaline.

THIS IS SO GOOD

You know how I know it’s so good??? My husband who does not watch Korean dramas is actually watching it and glued to it. 😂

Fight scenes are hilarious! The ML’s passion for studying is just truly funny, it’s like he’ll do anything to study.

The group itself is a good mixture is idealists and realists… strong and weak… brain and dumb. 😂
Perfect mix!!!

I just came here to write a review on how I am hooked up with this kind of drama, its my first time writing here btw. The intro and outro music is very catchy, so cool! 2 episodes yet I'm inlove with the cast. Everyone is pretty and cool. The lead actor is cute yet OP, he kinda looks like Cha Eun Woo ! I'm so excited for the next episode <3

A drama that made my heart, soul and brain happy

I m gonna be honest. I m going to look past the flaws of this drama because of the sheer joy it brought me while watching it.
This drama worked for me due to the convincing and earnest performance of each of the actors and the fast paced story telling. Sure it had an anime kinda quality to it, but when you are faced with good quality writing and acting who the heck cares about nitpicking,
This drama is surely in my list of best 2025 kdramas and thank god the year started off with a bang.
Looking forward to Season 2( hopefully they greenlight it soon).
Shout out to actress Yoon Sang Jung,...girl you were an fierce little muffin, hope to see her more in future.
Also not leaving behind Hwang Min Hyun, hope to see him more in well written dramas.
South Korea please keep it coming.
