Amazing show with a healthy mix of action/comedy/school life

All in all its outstanding. So far all the characters have their roles and the actors do them justice quite nicely. The pacing and timing is superb especially the director decisions of when scenes are comical and when they make it more serious. Fight scenes are just chefs kiss id say. A bit over the top but it works.

Just a but of fair warning though it does have quite a bit of violence and language isnt always the best so if that isnt to your taste this might not be the show for you.

As far as the soundtrack goes and ofcourse i cant end this without talking about that. It slaps hard. This was a very strong start to the shows for 2025. Definitely a strong contender for the best shows of the year.

Fun, amusing, brilliant cast

This drama has epic fight scenes balanced by humour and drama, executed beautifully by an incredible cast!

The characters are likable, unique, complex and the humour in the story balances out the dark undertones! I really loved this drama, it was short and sweet and waiting each week for the next 2 epsidodes was exciting. I'm personally not a huge fan of such satirical dramas with a lot of humour, and tend to go for more serious dramas like Weake Hero Class 1 for example, but I still really loved this and found that the humour added value to the story! This drama was well worth the watch!

THIS IS CINEMA!

Study Group was such a fun watch—honestly, I enjoyed every second of it from start to finish.

The pacing was perfect, with never a dull moment, and the character dynamics were so good. I absolutely love all the Study Group members such icons honestly. And the friendships in this drama were so well done, and I loved how every character had depth, a background story, and their own unique charm. None of them felt like plain, one-dimensional characters, which made their interactions even more enjoyable.

The comedic aspects of the show were also executed so well—funny without being excessive or cringe-worthy. Some scenes had me genuinely laughing out loud (especially the gochujang scenes—he’s so goofy, I love him).

As for the plot, it was also incredibly well done. I especially loved the quote: "I make opportunities in hellish situations” resonated deeply and encapsulated the show’s themes of perseverance and camaraderie.

And the action scenes? SPECTACULAR.

Every fight sequence was thrilling and well-choreographed, keeping me at the edge of my seat. From the camera work to the sfx to the precise movements every detail was executed well.

Huge shoutout to Minhyun for all the effort he put in—training for nine months really paid off because the fights were nothing short of cinematic. And the rest of the cast of course!

And honestly, I don’t care if some parts were unrealistic; this is based on a webtoon, it’s not meant to be hyper-realistic and thats part of its charm. I’m so glad they stayed true to that essence.

Oh, and the visuals??? The casting was perfect, and literally everyone looked amazing—even the supporting cast. My eyes were truly blessed the entire way through.

Anyway, I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here. These past few weeks have been so much fun thanks to Study Group. If I could erase my memory and experience it all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat. 🫶🫶🫶

THE PLOT IS FUC&%ING GOOD

Acting 10/10
Action 1000/10
Bromance 1000/10

More like a weak class hero but ML story is different. The ML is strong and with good stamina, studious but fail. The comic timing is so good that you will cry with laughter. Fight scene is something you can not miss. let's see what it has to give more on plate. Enjoyed the first 2 ep. Hope it don't make us disappoint.

*NOT YOUR AVERAGE HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA AT ALL*

Firstly, I just want to say, this is by far my favourite school kdrama ever as it's completely different, because this is not really a romance drama but it will tell the story about friendships and mostly school drama but intense one that one can relate to & can be in character with them. It is a kdrama equivalent of a rollercoaster with a side of academic angst and heartwarming friendships! This drama will take you on a wild journey through the chaotic lives of a quirky group of high school students who somehow manage to form the most dysfunctional yet lovable study group ever. It's packed with hilarious moments, unexpected emotional twists, and tons of that classic kdrama charm. The chemistry between the cast is electric, and their antics will have you laughing one moment and reaching for the tissues the next.
In conclusion, if u love a good blend of comedy, friendship, and a little romance, STUDY GROUP will for sure have u hooked faster than u say "STUDY BREAK"!

THANK U SM FOR READING THIS!!!

IS GAMIN STILL A HUMAN????

I’ve seen spoilers about this series in tiktok that it caught my attention. I had to hold myself back that time because it was still on-going. And as soon as study group was completed, I hurried to watch it. At first, I thought its genre was fantasy. Gamin’s inhuman techniques makes me doubt if he’s still a human. Is he? Is he not? Idk anymore. 😭 I enjoyed watching it so much I’ve finished all episodes within a day! That’s how hooked I was. Though, how it ended was quite disappointing. It felt so rushed. There were only 10 episodes all in all, and every ep isn’t even 1 hour long. The adaptation felt so rushed for me. It would’ve ended nicely if the episodes were longer than it has right now. Anyway, overall, t’s a 10 for me! I love the plot, casting, and all. I just wished Jiwu’s twin brother had more screentime because he literally got me! And one more thing. Seriously, who’s Gamin’s uncle???

Captivating and fun

I usually avoid the high school themed in a drama because I feel like it might too simple for my liking and my personal expectations.

However, I don't know what happened to me but I've just decided to start this one and surprisingly, in a really good way, it has captured my heart. I know, honestly, it has some "cliches" or slightly predictable moments or even characters itself but I've just found myself being immersed in characters' journey till the end. It eventually has some weak points but after all, it has everything that I love in general.

I like the main character and of course the side characters but for some, I wish they could introduce more details but yes, it was so fun and entertaining to watch. It might just me but I still think it targeted mainly young men but I'm glad that Lee Ji Wu's character exists for us but still the vibes.. I mean, I don't properly explain this.. Well, anyway I still loved this drama as a woman in my late twenties and I assume haha

I think it became one of my favorite drama of the year along with similar vibe such as Weak Hero class, Boyhood and High school frenemy.

Some scenes were amazingly done, I really like the visual effect, the development of each episodes and how they unveiled the story. In addition, I'm addicted to the OST, especially the ending song "Hood" by Haon.

Super fun ride from start to finish!

I've been caught fully off guard by this show...to think that I'd completely overlooked this drama when it first started airing because the summary on MDL didn't sound interesting. But then I randomly decided to give it a go and oh my god, what a FUN watch. Best example of execution >> concept.

So engaging right from the first episode, fantastic OST, the perfect length of episodes, not too long, not too short, GREAT casting, each of the new faces I'm seeing are so good at their individual roles. They all have such natural chemistry between themselves. And I totally overlooked Minhyun this whole time since Alchemy of Souls...he was made to do this role. Brings a natural innocence to his character but his stunts are equally convincing. The screenplay holds up to the last episode and keeps delivering twists and comedic moments and there's not a slow moment throughout.

I don't think I've enjoyed an action/comedy as much as I enjoyed this one since Bad and Crazy. I'd been looking for something along the same vein, combining light hearted moments, crazy humor and wonderfully choreographed fight scenes with a solid cast and chemistry.

I think the best shows are ones that make you feel like they ended too soon and should've had more episodes, and this one checks it all.

(But if there's a season 2 👀, I'll be here first!)

I loved everything about it

Disclaimer

What I am writing here are my views and thoughts about this series. Some of you may not like it. That does not give you the right to try to come at me with your opinions on why this series should get a higher or lower score and why it is better/worse than I think it is. You have your own opinions, and I have mine. Kindly respect that.

It's been a while since I actually binge-watched a series in less than one and a half days and thoroughly enjoyed it. The length of each episode was good, as I didn't get bored while watching them. The actors were phenomenal in their roles, portraying their characters in a way that made me cry/ be happy/be sad/ angry with them as well as for them. The music for this series was, of course, top-notch, making me bob my head along with it as well as (try to ) sing along with it.

I would have liked to get to know more about the ML's father as well as at least see the face of the person who trained him, but I guess those aspects add to the flair of this series. And, who knows? Maybe they might touch on these aspects in the new season when Hwang Min Hyun finishes his military enlistment this year.

I believe I like this series as it shows people that in a bad situation, you can still have a dream where you can better yourselves. That they should at least continue fighting for these dreams when there are negative things around them and in their lives- that's what I got to take from all of these characters. This was truly a wonderful and surprisingly entertaining series. Even though I originally watched this series for the MDL 2025 Watch challenge, I am glad that I did, and I highly recommend this series to other people who are wondering if they should give it a watch.

Loved every bit of this!

Okay, I was bored after some continuously bad ending k-dramas like reborn rich, check in hanyang etc. and then I watched this show.
And I loved it so much. One may think the over the top scenes are not good in a show, but believe me, those are so well used here that you never feel detached.
It's undoubtedly the best k-drama I have watched.
Waiting eagerly for the next season. Hope all the cast members return because all of them are just perfect!

One of the best action drama

I really enjoyed watching Study Group. It was such a well-balanced series—full of suspense, humor, and surprisingly thoughtful references that kept me engaged from start to finish. What stood out most was how consistent it was; there wasn’t a single episode that felt dull or like filler.

The action scenes, in particular, were outstanding. They were sharp, dynamic, and added an exciting layer that made the story even more gripping. At the same time, the lighthearted moments and clever touches of humor gave the show a nice balance, so it never felt too heavy.

Overall, it’s a series I would definitely recommend, both for its entertainment value and the way it blends action, comedy, and meaningful themes so seamlessly.

A Brilliant Blend of Humor and Heart — "Study Group" Delivers Unforgettable Entertainment!

The show was FANTASTIC— not a single moment felt boring! I understand some might have differing opinions, but for me, after experiencing a series like 'Weak Class Hero,' I was skeptical about finding another show that could capture that same essence of friendship amidst the challenges posed by a gang of bullies. 'Study Group' shattered those expectations in the best way possible.

What I truly appreciate about this series is how it maintains focus on the story without losing its way. Why can’t high schoolers study?! The show masterfully balances the comedic elements with intense action sequences, and let me tell you, the peak moments had me on the edge of my seat. The intro theme complements every climax perfectly, enhancing the emotional weight of each scene.

Kudos to the entire cast for their outstanding performances, particularly Hwang Min-hyun, who portrays Yoon Ga-min. His dedication is evident, especially after training in martial arts for seven months—his fight scenes are nothing short of spectacular!

This series, adapted from a webtoon, seamlessly translates the source material's charisma onto the screen, and the chemistry between characters brings the narrative to life beautifully. I found myself laughing, holding my breath during intense moments, and cheering on the characters every step of the way.

In a world where we often forget the importance of studying amidst high-stakes drama, 'Study Group' serves as a poignant reminder, encapsulated perfectly in the phrase: 'When you stop studying, your life stops.' Bravo to everyone involved in making this gem! I can't recommend it enough!
