Honest and Authentic

I have yet to see a narrative that so respectfully and lovingly expresses the joys, pain, longing, and frustration of queer and queer questioning youth finding their way in an unforgiving and unknowable world.

This narrative serves as a prequel to Unintentional Love Story and frankly, it is the far superior and genuine story. You do not necessarily need to watch the first to appreciate this story, but if you do, you will notice the stark difference in the two tales.

The acting is sublime and each of the leads offers such warmth to their respective roles that you will long to spend more time with them.

Forbidden romance

This was exceptional! The cast was perfect. The angst of young love was strong. I'll have to watch UIL story again. I didn't remember Dong Hee and Ho Tae from that story.

There was a sense of dissatisfaction about the ending. But, 6 episodes really was too short! We need a season 2 with the ML's as adults.

Frankly I get perturbed with the reviews criticizing Dong Hee for leaving for college instead of staying for "the love of his life". Contrary to what one wishes gay relationships are still controversial and unaccepted in conservative Korea. An unease about persuing a relationship is understandable ín light of family expectations and socialital acceptance.

Hopefully, a season 2 will allow them as adults to make choices that as minors would have been too difficult to develop.

Prequel story does not align with parent story

This was very well made. The feelings were there, the chemistry was amazing, the storyline was enjoyable too. I just think it would have been better as a stand alone rather than a parent story.

I felt as though so many questions were left unanswered. Dong Hui went to Seoul to study medicine, but ended up as a coffee shop owner. One time in unintentional love story, he mentioned that he wasn't a doctor. It was very casually stated, so it didn't seem as though he was bothered by the fact he never became a doctor. His personality in this also completely differs from the parent story. So what happened during the time he was in Seoul studying?

This story also ends with Ho Tae and Dong Hui smiling at each other, but in unintentional love story, Ho Tae refuses to let Dong Hui treat his wounds after being beaten up by a girl... So the ending of this and the beginning of the parent story don't really align which I found slightly disappointing.

I really enjoyed this series, the actors did great. The fact that the prequel and parent story don't really align makes this a little less enjoyable for me. If you haven't seen unintentional love story and want to after watching this, I would recommend not to, and pretend this is a stand alone story instead lol. There is too much of Dong Hui's past missing in the parent story, which makes it a little confusing if you have watched the prequel and expect a smooth continuation. They are good in unintentional love story too, just a little different.

That being said, I did really enjoy this and do recommend for people to give it ago.

Possibly my favorite BL

I wouldn't have expected this to hit so hard. I loved everything about it.

The actors were able to deliver an amazing performance, perfectly portraying the emotions of this bittersweet and beautiful story. Their chemistry was on point too and surely had me hooked.
Although many could deem this drama as boring because the plot isn't the most exceptional or new, it didn't bother me at all. It rather made it easy to watch, without any annoying obstacles ruining the flow of the story. I was constantly emerged in the story, in each character and the pain they had to go through.
Also, I loved that it was filmed in a rural region and during fall because that created a dreamy, unique vibe. In general, I really liked the cinematography, the colors used throughout the series.
In addition, the OST fit the atmosphere of the story well and sounds really touching.

Out of all the BLs I have watched yet, this is one of my favorites...

A heartwarming prequel

I came straight from watching Unintentional Love Story to watching The Time Of Fever, literally a day later. Luckily I was late watching Unintentional Love Story so The Time Of Fever was already all out and finished by the time I watched it! I absolutely loved this movie/drama, a movie split into episodes (it’s how I watched it). I knew it was a prequel so I knew it was Donghee and Hotae’s story beforehand, and what a beautiful story it was, with all the emotions combined. I love how they supported each other, Donghee was always there to aid Hotae’s wounds from being hit by girls and how Hotae was there for Donghee after his father. I just wish we could have seen a little more, maybe some more back story of Donghee with his family.

But overall, I really did enjoy this, I was in awe with the visuals, the emotions and the connection between the two characters. But I do wish it wasn’t a movie and it had multiple episodes like Unintentional Love Story, and I really hope in the future there’s another spin off with them in the future and we can get a full story of their future with multiple episodes!

I keep rewatching it, it's just too perfect

10s across the board. This is such a perfect gem, way more complex and meaningful than the parent series (Unintentional Love Story, sorryyy) and the rewatch value is so high that I've done it 5 times atp. The chemistry between the two MLs is unbelievable: the tension, the burning desire, the inability to fully understand or interpret one another and the delicate examples of genuine mutual care they're showing all through the series/movie are just too beautiful. And the words I'm using are not representative of anything but my poor vocabulary, cause these episodes are definitely more than just beautiful. It's my go to series when I feel like feeling wholesome and sad at the same time. Happy with just 6 episodes, but I saw an interview where the director said they wanted to work with this pair again and I'm honestly crossing my fingers.

Worth the wait

"I absolutely adored this series! The childhood sweethearts dynamic between Hotae and Donghee was beautifully portrayed. Hotae's vulnerability and Donghee's loving nature made their romance captivating. The chemistry between the leads was undeniable, and their kissing scenes were perfectly executed.

I wished for more depth in exploring Donghee's struggles with his father's passing, but overall, the emotional storyline kept me invested. The goodbye was heart-wrenching, though I felt slightly underwhelmed by the reunion.

Despite this, the series exceeded my expectations, and I couldn't get enough of Hotae and Donghee's love story. The wait was worth it!"

P-I-S-S-E-D!

I am fuming! I get it I know is the prequel but they could have gave us a bit more. The actors have an amazing chemistry ; they are both very very talented. I still feel they could have expand the story a bit more. Like we all know the reason he left Ho Tae was due to the respect and love he had for his auntie yet we only saw them talk about it briefly in one episode.

Is it finished?

Overall I good BL with amazing acting. The pacing was a little slow. I was very invested in the story which sadly lead to disappointment. the second to last episode was very emotionally heavy, the final wallows in the sad tone until the very last shot where there was possibly a hint at happiness? We aren’t given any answers we have had for over half the episodes to the point I had to check I had actually watched the last episode. I understand wanting to let the viewer make their own conclusions but this was a bit too extreme and I feel like the time put into the show wasn’t worth the payoff at the end.

I have genuinely never been interested in BLs before The time of fever!

I have genuinely never been interested in BLs before and have never really been drawn to the genre, but I recently started watching Agent Kim Reactivated and really liked Won Taemin, so I looked up his other projects. The first thing that came up was The Time of Fever, so I watched it yesterday and I was genuinely so surprised by how much I loved it and how sincerely beautiful it was.

I genuinely never expected to love it as much as I did because this is not usually something I watch at all and now I’m desperately looking for something with a similar emotional feeling.

What I loved most about The Time of Fever was how beautiful and natural the relationship felt. It wasn’t just a story about two people meeting and falling in love. They already had this deep, intimate friendship and cared for each other so instinctively that they didn’t even fully understand the extent of their own feelings.

They were already so deeply connected, and then somehow found themselves falling in love with the person who was already closest to them.

The feelings felt unexpected, confusing and almost inevitable at the same time, because the love was already there in some form before they ever understood it as romantic.

I think this is also why my favourite show in the entire world is Weak Hero Class 1, especially Suho and Sieun’s relationship. Their relationship isn’t romantic, but I love the same kind of deep, precious and irreplaceable bond between them. They find each other unexpectedly and gradually become so important to one another, with Suho instinctively caring for and protecting Sieun, and Sieun slowly allowing someone into his life despite being so emotionally closed off. I love relationships where two people become each other’s person almost without consciously deciding to, where the bond is built through all the little things they do for each other and the importance of the relationship is felt rather than constantly explained. That kind of connection is genuinely what I am always yearning for in fiction.

I’m not just looking for friends to lovers, I’m looking for people who become irreplaceable to each other before they even fully understand what they mean to one another.

I would really appreciate recommendations that capture this kind of relationship whether it ends up being romantic or not !!

unspoken longing

the story flowed like water smooth and soft yet there is no conclusion its the mix of satisfying and wanting more. " unintentional love story "still is my all time fav. for it has a story beginning and end. although this drama comes from the same makers they opted to displayed it like a poem with the lights , visuals, and emotions (the ups and downs of sadness and happiness) .. i think it meant to be seen by the heart not the eyes and i totally agree with and enjoyed the most.. the actors were superb and in some scenes I could see and feel the passion and understand the "fever" in the title.
