The K-Drama that dragged me out of my K-Drama slump
My Rating: 9Ep 1: interesting…
Ep 2 - 4: pfft HAHAHAHA 😂
Ep 5: I fainted 😂😅
What I liked about GMAW:
- Psychopath FL 😎
- OST sung by stray kids😆
- The chemistry arghhh my heart 🤣
- New concept!
- CGI (Compared to other fantasy K-Dramas)
The Dislikes:
- Story/Character setting kinda weird? (A Korean genie? Why?)
- Ibilis seems to be scared of everything and is too oblivious…
Reason for 9/10: the chemistry was so great, and it’s my first kdrama of 2025 as there weren’t any fun ones that caught my attention.

It's good!!!!
It has similar plot lines to Lucifer series. People criticizing this series but loving the Lucifer eng series is insane. If it doesn't match your taste, kindly MOVE ON. STOP WATCHING. STOP CRITICIZING. If you are so "PIOUS" Muslims and religious, aren't you supposed to NOT watch it. But hey you watched it and got time to rate it as well instead of moving on and watching something else to match your taste. *slow claps*. I am from same religion and I'm enjoying it so far. It's funny, swoon worthy and it is good!! Ignore the hate comments. 🫶🏻💜🧡Was this review helpful to you?
Stan says the devil doesn’t have horns?
Starting nice. Exciting.Middle of the story... okay, he can speak Arabic? And what the dog doing?
End of the story. Could have been better. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? He didn’t die? She died?

Story goes up and glides down, in the end crashes hard.
(Maybe wish for a better ending.)

Shaitan and psychopath made for each other ♥️
The best drama which depicts revenge, love, and comedy. I watch only a few K-dramas, and this is one of them. In the starting episode, we predict that Iblis is ruthless, but when Ka-young kissed him for the first time, we felt his warmth towards his master. Many characters play an important role in this series, like Minji, Miju, Ijreal, Irem, and Sade. In the last episode, I saw a funny chemistry between Grandma and Ijreal 😂. I like the ending of this show where they both united eternally. In India, we say, 'Pyar acche se acche shaitan ko badal deta hai.' We saw this slogan come true in this series. Was this review helpful to you?
“‘Genie, Make a Wish" — drive-thru inside, Michelin outside.
These days, Korean shows feel like abstract art — you experience them, but don’t always know why. I’ve learned to just watch for what they are, without overthinking. The old “it” factor in them that kept people talking for years seems gone; now it’s more like, “Let’s watch this today, maybe something else tomorrow.” I approached "Genie, Make a Wish" with that same mindset. The show is “okay” — nothing extraordinary, but it doesn’t leave a bad taste either. For me, the writing was poor — especially since it came from a renowned writer. The quality felt below average, and the unnecessary fillers kept breaking the flow to the point I ended up skipping parts. The dialogues were either childish or way too dramatic. Personally, I take dialogues very seriously, and here, that was a major letdown. Another thing that threw me off was the weird jumps between scenes and some really questionable camera angles. The CGI and VFX were just okay (that last fight scene was decent), but the sets… some of them looked so cheap and out of place, like school projects done by elementary kids. I kept wondering where all that funding from the Dubai government and advertisers went.
As for acting:
Kim Woo Bin was a joy to watch. The last time I saw him on screen was in Twenty (2015).I hadn’t kept track of him after that — so seeing him healthy and acting again felt genuinely hearty and a little emotional🥹. I honestly forgot to judge his acting properly, but I believe he did well for his role.
Now to Suzy, did she convince me that her character had that disorder? Not really. Did she make the watching experience bad?- Not at all. She did fine — and *extra* fine with her fashion. In her case her fashion stole the show, atleast for me.
As for the chemistry, personally, I didn’t feel any spark between the leads. Also, her beating him felt very off to me. (violence should never be appreciated, whether as part of comedy or in terms of gender dynamics)
Noh Sang Hyuk was another pleasant surprise. I was skeptical since he’s mostly done serious roles, but he handled comedy really well.
And Ahn Eun Jin — she didn’t have much to do here, yet she owned every scene she got. That’s the mark of a truly skilled actor: they don’t need 13 hours of screen time to make an impact 👍 (a skill some seem to miss even with longer careers and endless lead roles)
Honorable mention: the kids in this drama were such gems — absolute naturals! 😍
Now, a lot of people seem upset about the religious aspect in this drama. I have no knowledge in that area, so I won’t comment on it. What "did" bothered me though was how they portrayed “ASPD.” The creators completely conflated antisocial personality disorder with psychopathy, as if they were the same thing. How could anyone think that’s accurate? Did they even bother to research this? These are two entirely different conditions. Yet, as usual, K-drama writers didn’t care — they turned an ASPD character into an outright psychopathic caricature. It was careless, misleading, and frankly, shameless.
Overall, "Genie, Make a Wish" isn’t a must-watch. If you just need something to pass time, it’s a decent pick. This review is just one viewer’s perspective — a small glimpse of what you might expect. At the end of the day, it’s one's call whether to watch it or not.

A Wish Poorly Granted: When the Magic Fails to Deliver
Genie, Make a Wish” ultimately fell short of its promise, feeling more gimmicky than genuinely engaging. While the concept sounded whimsical and full of potential, the execution lacked depth and coherence, making the experience feel shallow and forgettable. The narrative leaned too heavily on clichés, without offering anything fresh or emotionally compelling, and key moments that were meant to feel magical instead came across as forced. Overall, it felt like an idea that looked better on paper than in practice, leaving behind disappointment rather than wonderWas this review helpful to you?
Great Cast, Promising Premise, Disappointing Delivery
I really wanted this drama to be good. The premise has potential, the cast lineup is strong, and I went in genuinely excited to see where the story would go. But honestly… it’s sad to say this one’s a flop.Five episodes in, and I still couldn’t tell what direction the story was heading. The pacing drags on and on without any real emotional or narrative depth to keep you hooked. It’s like the plot is wandering aimlessly, leaving the viewers wondering “okay, where is this going?” And four/five episodes didn’t provide solid and interesting answers.
The “I should keep watching this show” factor is what I’ll say is missing.
Also, some of the scenes felt very low-grade, especially the VFX. Instead of adding magic or charm, they made the whole production feel cheap. And that’s the most disappointing part: there are great actors here, people you’d expect to shine in a fantasy drama…but the writing and execution just didn’t give them the material they deserved.
The story has so much potential, but the execution completely missed the mark. Sadly, I have to drop it.
Oh, but one thing I did like about the show is the child Ka-Young, she’s a good actress. And I like the grandmother-granddaughter relationship too.

Memorable. Completely psychotic. Somehow perfect.
If you like intense, high-budget fantasy romances with insane chemistry, unpredictable storytelling, and a love that feels a little unhinged (in the best way), then you will probably love this drama. I went into this one very hesitant because fantasy can easily cross into territory I don’t enjoy, but surprisingly, this drama pulled me in and never let go. It was beautiful, funny, emotionally heavy, and completely captivating. This is one of those dramas where you finish it and it still lives in your head long after. That said, this is also the only drama where I will ever accept an afterlife happy ending — and that alone says a lot.
LIKES
-Stunning production, costuming, and cinematography — everything looked expensive and intentional
-BOTH main leads killed thier rolls. They did so well.
-Chemistry between the leads; their love felt intense, obsessive, and deeply emotional
-Completely unpredictable plot — I never knew what was coming next
-Surprisingly funny; the comedy landed without undercutting the emotions
-The love story was wild, dramatic, and unforgettable
-Emotional moments hit HARD (some scenes still live in my head)
-Explored pain, depression, and healing in a way that felt meaningful
-One line alone — “There is only one God” — genuinely mattered to me
-The only drama where an afterlife ending felt earned and fitting
DISLIKES
-Casual and inaccurate handling of spiritual themes (angels, hell, afterlife hierarchy). A few moments leaned into blasphemous or misleading ideas that I didn’t love.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I shocked myself by how much I loved this drama. It’s bold, chaotic, emotional, and strangely beautiful. While I still have reservations about certain themes, the love story, performances, and execution were so strong that I couldn’t deny how powerful it was. This drama made me laugh, cry, think, and feel — and that’s rare.
I’m giving this a 9.5/10 (honestly a 9.9 in my heart). If they had ended up alive together, it would have been a perfect 10. Still, this was almost flawless in execution and left me completely satisfied.
Highly memorable. Completely psychotic. Somehow perfect.

Could have been good
A rare miss by Studio Dragon. A fine example of potential gone to waste. The side stories and all the different side characters really sent the main story off course. It was good in the beginning, but lost the plot as it went on. I found it hard to pull for any character beyond Sade. I applaud them for trying something different but it definitely wasn’t LEGEND OF THE BLUE SEA worthy. There are many great reviews for this show, so maybe a lot was lost in translation? This is one of s few K-Dramas I struggled to finish. Was this review helpful to you?
Interesting Premise
It had a better ending than the start in my opinion. Was a bit boring at first, but glad I stuck it out!
Felt like it had a lot of plot points going at once sometimes, so some weren't as flushed out as they could have been, but still a decent drama!
I think the acting was good in general and was a bit surprised with Suzy as I'm not the biggest fan of her acting (loved when she was a singer lol). I think this kind of role fit her!
It did get a few tears out of me the last 3 episodes. I would definitely say give it a shot!

A drama with an identity crisis
Finished this tonight and it was definitely one of the weirdest dramas I have ever watched! It was not terrible. There were some scenes and episodes that were fine and actually the side characters literally saved this show (old and young grandma, and the bestie Minji). There was also some hugeeeee character development towards the end. Especially Suzy crying in the dessert was pretty sad and showed topnotch acting. As well as the genie from the past when he was holding her dead body. Also very heartbreaking. The very end was a bit strange tho. Also the unnecessary violence felt a bit off and added to the identity crisis this drama had been having since the beginning: is it Fantasy? Comedy? Drama? Romance? Action? Historical? Crime thriller? It was trying to be all of that at once!!! It was too much! Some messages of the drama were really nice tho: being greedy is sth that will come and bite you back, being helpful and kind but not to put other before yourself was kind of the message to live by that this drama was trying to convey.
I liked the different themes of mental illness and lgbtq+ visibility. It was very refreshing and sth that is rarely shown openly in KDrama like this.
For me the drama was a bit of a rollercoaster.
The first episode was quite messy. I didn’t know what to think of the main leads at the beginning. Genie’s hair freaked me out a bit as well 😅 Also, the grandma slicing up Ka-young’s hand to teach her a lesson was a bit too much imo. Luckily their relationship has improved over the years and Ka-young has grown into a good person.
After the first episode it gradually got better. Some things that happened on the way towards the end were a bit too much like the unnecessary use of violence and gory got me questioning whether that was needed for the style and genre this drama was going for 🤔
The old guy reflected in the mirror in khalid’s body also creeped me out a lot!!! Again, what is this drama trying to be???
One of the highlights was Song Hye Kyo as Jinniya 😍😍😍How frigging gorgeous can someone be??? She is my absolute favorite actress!!!
All in all I can recommend this drama only if you dont mind messy concepts and are in for sth on the lighter side that is easy to watch.

How to Waste Three Wishes and Still Be Sad
So… why didn’t she just use her last wish to go back in time and save her grandma or stop that kid before the soul swap?? Like girl, you literally time traveled before to stop a serial killer and saved that other girl. You had the blueprint! What changed?? 😭 They didn’t even have to kill the kid, just tell his dad “hey maybe teach your son not to play god with souls.” Boom. Problem solved. The Genie literally time traveled for Ki Ga Yeong but suddenly he got amnesia??And that ending had me losing it. Why did they think it was a good idea to end with Ga Yeong’s deadbeat mom insulting her and leaving her in the rain like it’s a discount K-drama? I wanted that woman to get hit with at least one emotional tax bill. Something. Also what happened to the dog?? Did he just disappear into the plot hole abyss? Why did nobody ever look under the lamp and see the date?? That was right there!
And don’t even get me started on that nosy old lady who got hit by a car. Did she just die like that?? No follow-up, no hospital scene, just “oops guess she’s gone.” 💀
So Ji Ni can throw hands with literal angels in a battle against God himself but can’t handle one bratty kid and his dollar store goons?? Be serious 😭😭 Bro fought celestial armies but lost to middle school drama.
Anyway Suzy’s still a baddie. 10/10 for her, 0/10 for the logic.
