P.S.: Scholar Han is also one of the lead actors (this one won't be a sugary, fluffy romance).⬇️

Hello,

I just got this writing from a friend who likes to analyze the Chinese Entertainment Industry, considering the career of Liu Xueyi.

MASSIVE CAREER MILESTONE! Liu Xueyi officially cast as Zhou Enlai in CCTV's mega-production China 1927!

This is absolutely huge news for Liu Xueyi! Fresh off his historic, record-breaking success in Against the Current, CCTV has officially announced him as the lead for their upcoming 36-episode revolutionary masterpiece, China 1927.

Why this is a monumental win for him:

  • Ultimate Industry Respect: Portraying a deeply revered historical figure like Zhou Enlai for a prime-time CCTV tribute drama is an honor reserved only for the country's most respected, elite actors.

  • Shattering the "Idol" Box: This marks his first official venture into a heavy, non-idol historical genre. He is officially stepping beyond costume political dramas to showcase his elite, raw acting skills on the grandest stage.

  • The Perfect Trajectory: It is so incredibly satisfying to watch his talent finally get the mainstream, high-level recognition it deserves. Directors are clearly seeing the immense depth, restraint, and power in his current performances!

What an incredible, challenging new chapter for him as an actor. He has the brilliant bone structure, the commanding presence, and the seasoned acting talent to pull this off flawlessly. 2027 is going to be his year!

MaIbrra25,

I hope everything works out well for him. After all, he is 36 years old (and needs to reaffirm the value of the work he has done throughout his ten-year career). But... I also hope he doesn't stop doing so-called "idol dramas," because he is wonderful in everything he does. We shouldn't miss out on his talent in those other types of dramas, either.

I completely agree with you! It is a huge career milestone for him at 36, and after over ten years of hard work, he completely deserves this national-level validation. What makes him so special is that he has the rare ability to elevate any project he touches.

I totally understand your hope that he won't completely leave the costume and romantic dramas behind—he brings so much charisma, charm, and elite visual presence to those roles!
(Plus those cute dimples and long eyelashes.)

The best part about this casting is that it proves he doesn't have to choose. He can dominate serious historical masterpieces like China 1927 to solidify his prestige, while still treating us to his incredible talent in lighter dramas. He truly has the range to do it all!

It is now a very high time for Liu Xueyi to shine through.

This drama is making me realize how uneducated I am 😂 The words they use are so beautiful and poetic, but half the time I’m sitting there like… what does that even mean?

I was curious what ljq was confessing during ep 37 to lx. I knew he was confessing his love but I didn't understand. I had to AI this but I thought to share his confession below:

The love between a man and woman is nothing more than a fresh flower growing on barren soil; a fleeting beauty outside the white bones, disappearing in the blink of an eye like a dream or an illusion…”
More naturally in English:
“Romantic love is merely a flower blooming on barren ground, a beautiful illusion over bare bones—like a dream that vanishes in an instant.”
It has a very cynical, poetic tone toward romantic love. The imagery suggests that love may look beautiful on the surface, but underneath it is fragile, temporary, and ultimately unable to survive.

There's so many phrases the characters say that are so profound but bc I'm not educated in the Chinese language/lliteracy I miss out on the beautiful art.

Just finished ep39. From rough calculation, would be about 4 years after Lin Jinqi and Xu Lanxiang before they consummate their marriage? (Curious)

Liu Xueyi is already in his thirties, how could he lack experience?
Liu Xueyi's response to his good kissing skills is so honest in this interview: "How could someone in their thirties have no experience?" Haha, hilarious, that statement is absolutely flawless.

1. Honestly, when I watched the 'Orchid Fragrance Like Love' consummating kissing scene, I was truly captivated. Holding her face, trembling fingertips, surging emotions in her eyes—Lin Jinqi's inner but uncertain conflict of wanting to love but not daring to do it all in the details. This isn't just a simple action scene—it's the release of emotions the character has suppressed for years.

2. But the most striking thing is the behind-the-scenes contrast. The drama is filled with heart-wrenching farewell atmosphere, but off-screen, when Tan Songyun and Liu Xueyi kiss and laugh like that, why doesn't the director have a few more camera angles? One was still laughing after dozens of photos, the other was shy, in his thirties—these two are really close.

3. Liu Xueyi said in an interview that the most important thing in filming intimate scenes is to respect your opponent, stay focused throughout, and try to get through in one take. Deep affection on screen, respect off screen—who wouldn't love such an actor? Moreover, each of his dramas features a different style of kissing scenes—Spring Flower Flame is about tearing and breaking, Falling Flowers is tender and lingering, Orchid Fragrance is about endurance and restraint followed by an explosion, and every scene fits the character's mood.

4. What's wrong with being over thirty? Kissing skills in your thirties are the peak, okay? Not greasy or exaggerated, measured and emotional, making the audience believe in the love between characters—this is what a sophisticated kissing scene looks like.

Were you captivated by this kissing scene? Hua Chen Yue Xing's Weibo video

#刘学义都三十好几了能没经验吗#
1. Source and Breakout Reason
for the Memorable Quote Interview Background: During the interview promoting the new drama "Orchid Scent as Before," when asked about his kissing experience, Liu Xueyi did not shy away and directly joked about his age.
Viral logic: In the entertainment industry, many market themselves as "pure-hearted," but Liu Xueyi generously embraces the maturity brought by age and experience. This candor breaks conventions and is praised as "genuine." Netizens commented that it was "not pretending to be pure, not greasy," showcasing the relaxed vibe of a mature actor.
2. The Professionalism Behind Humor The
primary principle is respect: After the joke, he emphasized that the most important thing in intimate scenes is to respect the opponent, maintain a clean and fresh state, focus on getting through in one go, and reduce the partner's burden.
Acting serves the character: his kissing style changes with the role—restrained in 'Orchid Fragrance as Before,' broken and pull-and-pull in 'Spring Flower Flame,' and atmospheric push-pull in 'Blossom Order'—experience isn't about showing off, but about fitting the character's mood.
3. Driving the new drama's kissing scenes to go viral
— iconic scenes from "Orchid Fragrance Remains the Past": As interviews went viral, scenes such as the cheek kiss in the snowy carriage were repeatedly revisited by viewers, who praised the performance as "deeply affectionate without greasy, restrained yet full of tension." #刘学义都三十好几了能没经验吗 #

Now I know why everyone is complaining in comment section. They didn't give enough context for everything that happened in 39th ep. Though it won't make me dislike this drama instantly and I'm not here for romance but still the events that needed context feels sudden as if the director told us to guess what happened in this ep.

I can understand that jinqi and lanxiang consummated when jinqi resigned from his post because before that their ways were different so they can't really form a relationship until their ways become one but what happened to the emperor should have been done in a bit of detail. They didn't even properly show us that jinqi has resigned. I don't have problem with time skip but they didn't show us enough how jinqi realised what lanxiang said was true and how he resigned. The scenes just kept changing and suddenly he is in jinling with a pregnant lanxiang. Idk why they want us to use our imagination when the part of him resigning is important for development. All in all I can understand this disappointment but I would say that I still like this series overall.

I really appreciate your comment! You put it perfectly. Thank you.

It definitely feels like the director handed us the pieces of a puzzle and told us to guess what happened during the gaps rather than showing us the full picture. It’s so jarring when an otherwise seamless show suddenly expects the audience to fill in major context on their own.

What I love about your insights here is that you can critique this sudden shift in pacing without completely turning your back on the drama.

Like you, I’m not just here for the romance—I’m here for the brilliant, gritty storytelling and the powerhouse acting.
Even if Episode 39 dropped the ball on pacing, the foundation of this show is still incredibly strong.
Let’s hope the next episodes slow things down and give us back that incredible depth we love!

today's episode was not it! and this is from someone who already rated every episode 10 because I love the show so much. I wont even bother saying the reason because its already stated so many times. I'm just so disappointed. you would think after skipping a day this episode would have been amazing🤦🏻‍♀️ i guess we never know the moment she really let him know she loved and wanted to be with him,we just have to imagine how they went from her resenting him to loving him.

So, I needed some time to think over what I just watched in episode 39. And after reading multiple comments from all of you, I feel like there’s nothing more that I can say that can adequately explain how I feel because all of you had said it already so eloquently.

I will, however say this, I drank the Kool-Aid. I wholeheartedly and happily drank the Kool-Aid and I kept telling myself that the one day break wouldn’t matter because episode 39 provide me with the payoff we all expected. First, I thought the play would be her creative way of telling him her story. It turned out that the play was a warning, a foreshadowing of what her fears were - fine, I accept that. I don’t have any problems with that. I just thought it was going to play out somewhat differently with the Preview they showed at the end of 38.

Second, I thoroughly expected to be shown how she finally dropped all her walls and let him in and the payoff would be what we had seen in the Preview, which was them revisiting the night of their marriage properly. I feel, like many of you, we were robbed of those moments. The bigger cracks in the walls, letting the bright beaming light of his love for her come through. They had the moment. He showed her he still remembered them. He still respected the Shens and the walls she built trembled and quaked. All they had to do was take it one step further and show us she was taking steps towards him too. I stead, we were robbed of any sweet moments between them that would lead towards that moment when they finally drank from the gourd. Yes, they went through life and death situation and yes, she did have some of her walls come down a couple inches but none of that was enough to skip over the moments I think us viewers were really hoping for. I think that was a big miss on the production’s part. It would have been a few sweet scenes, gestures, comments…. But instead we had a prolonged bd gift opening…

I think the montage of the years going by was a bit lazy. It was creative decision to love the story along, but it was still a little bit lazy. They had this drama in 2 parts and with 47 episodes in total, they could have afforded one episode where they made us viewers incredibly happy.

But no. Let this be a lesson to you all. Be aware of drinking the Kool-Aid!

Ep 40, what an amazing episode gain ! I watched so many family tone-apart story due to money and jealousy kind of drama all the time, but this Lin Family is one of a kind. So refleshing ! It's because Female lead's cleverness and her surviving skills come from her saddest experience and also the love of ML for her. Nothing sad but I cried again. This drama always touches my inner soul. And thanks to Maquis Y! You are similar person ! Not all ancient family especially the high ranking family were bad 😂 BTW if you love this drama, I recommend 'A dream of splendor'. That's also a beautiful stories of three woman survival and love of class gap of main leads. Liu Yifei and Chen Xiao 💕

    Ep38#1
I have heard the gentle and careful spoiler from so many,
that Jin Qi reveals to Lan Xiang that he buried her family.
But nothing prepared me for how powerful this scene was and how I was moved.

No one spoiled it for me, no one put together all the powerful details; that she does not tell him who she is, nor did he press her when he didnt understand her deep reactions completely. She held herself back. She produced the truth of Lan Xiang, whose identity she owns.

It was so brave and sad. Lan Xiang saw JiaLan's whole family pass before her eyes, gathered in their hall. She did not relive the tragedy, she saw them as they are in her heart.

I think this is the moment Lan Xiang's heart truly starts to move in his direction. I did not understand from the (non) spoilers how she could change her view of him so suddenly. And it is sudden and it is powerful.

And, I have now officially fallen in love with Jin Qi. He opened his heart to her. His eyes! the expression of his mouth! Finally, finally he made sense. Finally his emotions are clear. Finally he shows her who he is, really.

He really loves LanXiang, but he carries guilt and sadness because of the loss of the Shens. He had been hiding the same tragedy she had been. It had weighed on him in his way, as it had weighed on her in such a terrible way.
