Heat Index update, 29.09.2026

I'm pretty ignorant about how the heat index is measured, but how does it reach a certain index (over 33,000) and then go down?

Hello,
Good question.
I just caught up with a friend who is keen on studying Asian dramas, is an analyst, and is good with numbers.

This is his reply:

The key to understanding this is knowing that the Tencent Heat Index isn't a cumulative, lifetime view counter—it is a rolling, real-time "popularity thermometer."

The algorithm calculates user engagement (live chatting, sharing, searches, and streaming) within a moving 24-to-48-hour window. Because of this, heat numbers naturally fluctuate based on the weekly broadcasting schedule. On days when fewer episodes drop, or during weekly airing pauses, the immediate real-time internet traffic naturally cools down slightly.

A drop from 33,491 to 32,434 is a completely standard stabilization pattern for major blockbusters. To put it in perspective, holding any score above 32,000 for days on end means "Against the Current" is still pulling in massive, elite market-share numbers and completely dominating the national conversation. There is absolutely no need to worry—the fire is still burning incredibly bright
