I owe the doc an apology. He shrewdly helped her with verifying what LanXiang said rather than officially checking it and having to disprove the break. I think he was well aware of what was required to win in court and glad to assist. His signature with the wounds and signature could not be denied. JinQi and Lanxiang had plans within plans on how to help XiuLai. First to encourage her to accept the penalty for bringing the case to court. That alone surprised her bastard of a husband.😝😡 The officials kept saying that without a breaking of bones there was nothing to bring forward and at this time official Dai was more than happy to pin that on JinQi.😝Official Lu was so proud of his wife beating instruction that he continues to bring it up to his son’s detriment.🤣😝 They are all telling him to shut up.🤣😂I loved that the second he stopped gloating over his distraught wife that LanXiang a;roaches the court with documents in hand. She listed off all the things on the bridal registry and that the Lu’s had stoked 3k worth of properties and possessions that were not part of the dowry but her holding them for the family. Hubby dearest couldn’t refute anything because his wife candidly told why her registry was ripped up three years ago. The family had two options they could settle and let mother and daughter leave, or go to court and give back what they stole. Pompous ass husband dropped to his knees and begged for charges to be dropped. JinQi volunteered to take his sister’s punishment so his strikes were doubled compared to the guilty one. How’s that for justice?😝😡🤬🙄Jinqi is so proud of LanXiang he has pure admiration on his face as she slams the Lus with charges they can’t get out of. Then when she fights Dai for her husband and poor old guy has to dole out 200 non life threatening blows. I am satisfied watching the women in the audience seeing a woman win in court. They saw that women rich or poor could be beaten legally but they also saw a woman bring charges they couldn’t deny. Haha the braggart Xie that wouldn’t marry XiuWan is not looking happy with wife or job. He has placed dead last in the exam and now all can see. Ms Dai is looking forward to seeing JinQi beaten. I kinda hate it that he’s on a stretcher from beating as 3rd rank scholar Han passes by. That definitely sucked. But I did like that LanXiang got a chance to congratulate him in person. And a thumbs up to JinQi who saved a bit of face grabbing LanXiang’s hand. He was definitely in pain but playing it up to get LanXiang’s nursing care. They should have had him ask her to tell the story of her play. That would have been a very special moment between them This episode gave a nice presentation of their combined skills as they both used tricks of the trade to win over the Lus. They definitely prevaricated, but considering the judges and the perpetrator, that just gave them a level playing field. Their conversation was quite sweet until she said something treasonous aloud and he hushed her up reminding her some things cannot be said. She is not repulsed by his hand holding but she’s not seeking it out either. I really hate that the victim has to pay twice as much as the guilty one. It’s hard seeing that as justice. It’s just the pound of flesh required to hopefully make you incapable of speaking for yourself because they kill you off even if given your day in court. Mother and daughter will finally be back with family and everybody else getting ready for wedding and leaving the capital ASAP.

Jinqi being proud of his scheming wife and enamored to see her defending him, lol. That man just fell for her a thousand more. 🤣I'm so happy they talked, they had a long conversation, sharing each other pov, no anger in sight. Only the return of shameless Jinqi 😏 (he really sent away all the maids just so his wife would be the only one taking care of him, I can't with him loool)Also, it seems Lanxiang is coming around and may let Jinqi get to her because she's been looking at him differently lately. ^^ Even during their convo, she looked pleasantly surprised he was curious about her and liked hearing how she writes plays. I do not blame her for taking her time, so far he imposed himself on her, whether for the marriage or coming to the capital. His sister's case is the first time he actually let her take the lead totally, despite having his own plan, and her first time seeing him as a family man more than a young master.P.S: the way, with just a few words from the other they understand each other's thinking! Me loooove it! XD 🥰

Lin Jin Qi learns from his sister, Xiu Wan, that Xiu Lai was on the verge of taking her own life using arsenic; had it not been for Lan Xian, his sister would have died. He and his siblings are devastated. Lin Jin Qi bows in gratitude to his wife, Lan Xian, who arrived just in time to prevent the tragedy.Scholar Han and Xie Zhao are receiving congratulations for their rankings in the imperial civil service examination. The Emperor and his ministers are making promising plans for the two young men.The Emperor is informed of the reason for the absence of the Shense Guard Commander, Lin Jin Qi. He learns that she is at the magistrate's court due to a petition filed by her sister, who seeks a divorce from her husband because of the abuse she has suffered at his hands. In the courtroom, the abusive husband, Liu Jun, stands beside his kneeling wife, Xiu Lai (Lin Jin Qi’s half-sister)—though it appears she is effectively the only one on trial. The husband seems poised to succeed in his plan to keep her bound to him in both life and death (as he himself puts it). However, the plan devised by Lin Jin Qi and Lan Xian unfolds successfully in two stages. Ultimately, realizing he is in deep trouble, the abuser agrees to the divorce and consents to hand over the children to the care of his soon-to-be ex-wife.Yet, he is sentenced to receive 100 lashes. Xiu Lai is also sentenced to 100 lashes, as is Lin Jin Qi. Lin Jin Qi proposes taking his own 100 lashes along with the 100 intended for his sister. (A strange look from one of the judges reveals an intent to kill Lin Jin Qi), but Lan Xian intervenes, exposing the plot against her husband's life and threatening to report the matter to the Emperor. Consequently, they replace the executioner with an older man and reduce LJQ’s sentence to 100 lashes. During the punishment, the cowardly Liu Jiu’s screams can be heard, yet LJQ remains steadfast as he endures the blows. Even so, he smiles proudly at the wife who stood up for him.On the way back, while being carried on a stretcher and bearing bloodstains on his body, LJQ witnesses the acclaimed Scholar Han passing by in a procession. Lan Xian smiles happily for her friend and whispers, "Congratulations." Seeing this, LJQ looks at his wife and holds her hand—affectionately yet possessively—shifting her attention from Scholar Han back to himself. At the end of the episode, he is in bed recovering, muttering about how cold his wife is. She notices he has dismissed the maids. Why won't she soften and come tend to him? He employs a strategy: he splashes a little tea on his face and pretends to groan in pain. Lan Xian rushes to his side. He tells her he simply wants her to talk to him. (She mentions that her defense of LJQ regarding the care of Xiu Lai was driven by a desire to avoid further suffering over her brother's injuries.) LJQ hears no admission that she is worried about *him* specifically. Nevertheless, Lin Jin Qi is touched and thanks her. He asks how she possesses such extensive knowledge of the empire's laws, given that few people have access to those documents. She replies that she learned it recently for her plays. It becomes evident that he is getting closer to discovering her true identity. She makes a move to leave, but Lin Jin Qi affectionately holds onto the fabric of her garment, as if asking her to stay. The episode ends there. We shall see what Episode 34 has in store.

He definitely loves her even more now after everything that happened to Xiulan and in court. So, when I saw Han Liang on a horse parading through the streets with all the other scholars, and Lanxiang smiling at him, I felt bad for Jinqi. He always looks at her with those warm eyes, while she smiled at the scholar in a way she never has at Jinqi... 🥺 Him taking her hand so she would look away from the scholar and at him was a completely reasonable and justified reaction, in my opinion. 😔I really loved the ending scene. How he lured her into his room by pretending to be in pain and they talked. 🤭🤗 I was a bit worried when she said that Prince Han wants to rebel like his father. But I hope it won't go anywhere and there will be no consequences... There were just the two of them and no one heard it, right? 😳Him questioning how she could have knowledge of courts and laws that even the greatest scholars might not know felt like we could get closer to him finding out her real identity, but she got out of that situation quite well by saying it's because of plays. However, in truth I know most of it she learned while she was still Shen Jialan. 🫣
