Decent ending with a couple missteps 👏🏻

Han’s death ….I am gobsmacked that the reinstated emperor who was kidnapped and endangered by a eunuch’s miscalculation and collusion listened to another eunuch wanting to cull officials that believed eunuchs should not receive complete confidant status and power from the Emperor. This was a tragic waste of a brilliant mind. This story is against the current and it should be noted that men also went against the current and paid dearly for it in blood and infamy. Jinqi and children were adorable but when the time jumped and daughter was 16, preteen brother should have been training with her. LanXiang should have been looking pleased with her entire legacy. We should have seen her getting blessed by Mr Xu before he passed and we should have seen son in dad’s armor. For me, the look in her eyes when this life is enough was said she didn’t see any life surpassing this with him. When she aged she should have seen a son passing exams and wanting to be a soldier like dad as well as her daughter. Her epilogue in her writing included all the Shen family members, but her father and son were absent from her end story. They did not even rate a full footnote. I found this to make the ending just missing perfection. I thought both her children should have been at her bedside to be blessed by her. I think she gave JinQi a nod when she picked up that pouch and smiled. It was designed for him and her mother restitched it when worn out and I bet the one she has on was stitched by her daughter. I liked that JinQi took care of Han’s family and escorted him home. I am completely pissed off that none of the royals recognized the eunuchs as the villains in their story. 😝🙄 I wanted a purging of them like they did with the military, the Shens, the Lus, and Furong’s family. Even the Zhaos and Dais did not deserve to have little children killed off. It is for certain that men missing from these women’s lives made most live better, but it is also true that many became who they were because of their fathers and brothers and uncles who supported them. This story did not allow for a few good men and that is where it missed its mark. This is indeed the story of Lanxiang and her legacy, but Mr Xu and her son had a part in framing that and they were not allowed to be seen and counted in her later story. Their presence would not have diminished her or her legacy, they would be showing pride that they were included and got to see it evolve before their eyes. This part of her legacy merited the respect of being present and included at the end of her story as well as the clearing of her family name.

What a wonderful ending!

What a wonderful ending! 🤗At first, when I accidentally read the spoiler about Lanxiang's death, I was worried. I had no idea when and why that would happen, but it turns out I didn't have to worry at all. She lived a happy and fulfilled life, surrounded by people who loved her, continuing to write plays all her life and leaving a beautiful legacy of the Shen family — their story... Something only she would be able to tell. 😌Though, I am a little bit sad that Jinqi left her so soon (their eldest daughter was only 16 years old then). Everything he told her about fate and finding each other in the next life and becoming husband and wife again was so beautiful. And right before his last breath, he said in a voice that he knew she was Shen Jialan. 🥹🤧🥰That scene where all the doors were closing and the camera flew backwards out of the Lin residence... I really didn't want it to end. This drama was wonderful at telling us a beautiful story of how women, inspired by Lanxiang's philosophy and ways, went "against the current" to fulfill their dreams, little or big, and found their happiness, stability, and other things. 🥲
